New but the library is very primitive, careless, and lack of organization. I have posted few photo of the library leaking water from roof and they put buckets around the library. I thought I'm in third world country. Thats the problem becoming in UK "capitalism" all gov budget should cut, rich people rich kids go to bookstore buy new books and poor people stuck with this. I have also post a photo about they putting kids book next to old lawyer book. Make no sense! Uncivilized can be happening in library.

Beautiful library. Very modern. My daughter and I really enjoy the kids area, full of children's books and comfy seating. There's a kids' stay and play once a week which we enjoy attending as well.

Went to Library of Birmingham due to heavy rain, and the unscheduled visit really surprised me The Secret Gardens must be very nice during Summer The Shakespeare’s Memorial Room at the 9th Floor was a little surprise for me, which also lead to visit Shakespeare’s Birthplace there following day at Stratford-upon-Avon

Its a shame about the limited opening hours but we enjoy going to this library. Nice little park located behind the library and a car park to. Parking can be an issue. Photo is from an article I took for BPYC a few years back

The Library in Birmingham is pretty great. I came here a lot when I lived in Birmingham. The building is modern from the outside and from the inside. I really enjoyed drinking a coffee in the cafeteria or look over the city from the terace which is open to the public. Pretty impressive building. 5*

My local library has a vast collection of books and is only a few years old. Very modern look with great spots to take pictures especially the rooftop!

Stunning modern architecture. Can't comment on the facilities of the library, but it's great to explore the many outdoor views and interiors.

Beatiful building, really stands out on Birmingham architectural atmosphere! It is possible to climb up to the terraces, to view both the skyline of the city and the gardens up there! I surely do recommend! Also on the ground floor - I may be mistaken - there are some stuff that are open to the community...

Great Chinese art exhibition on between March and May at the gallery. All work based upon collaboration between Chinese community, Chinese classics and the library.

Good place to do school or college coursework. Almost always silent and has a very cozy environment with plenty of books to choose from.

The facade of the building is rather a blight on the area by Chamberlain Square, but once you get inside, it's really rather good. Excellent range of books, though many of them are non-loanable. Particularly impressive is the selection of CDs in the basement. Rather like a book, judge the building by what's on the inside - its outside is most disagreeable and best forgotten.

Had a lovely day at Birmingham Library, such a beautiful building. I especially enjoyed the gardens with fab views of the city. If it's open go to the 9th floor to the museum, it is made up of some of the original birmingham library, bookcases ceiling etc. Nice little cafe there too

A new, modern, landmark building near the middle of the main civic complex of buildings (Town Hall, Museum, Concert Hall, Convention Centre, etc.). No special pass is needed if you want to just wander around, browse books or newspapers, or look at the view from one of the rooftop terrace gardens; therefore well worth a visit even if you have no interest in books or libraries!

It is unusual to have places you can be proud of to take friends and family to in Brum. Fantastic building inside & out! Well worth looking at when you visit Birmingham. Right in the middle of the city so perfect if you only have a few minutes spare to walk past or have a couple of hours to explore inside.

This is one of the best libraries I've ever been too. I love to read and so when my aunty suggested we go I leaped at the chance. They have so much to offer even if you aren't a keen reader. The music rooms can be rented at a good price and we enjoyed the skyline view from the top.

A large collection within a contemporary setting with light and space. The Shakespeare collection on level 9 was very interesting and seems to have been laid out like a museum exhibit. From historic folios to city maps to novels and a computer suite, it offers more levels of education that should be explored within oneself. NB The views from the public balconys were fantastic and show the progression of Birmingham architecturally to a very modern city.

We are so lucky to have such a beautiful building as the library in Birmingham. Good selection of books, wonderful staff, handy cafe, study corners, kids library, beautiful viewing terraces (must see!) and high escalators that take you above the clouds, this place is one of my favorite spots in Birmingham. As per library membership, I love that they have a growing number of e-books / audio books which you can access through Libby app. Thank you all the staff at Birmingham Library, I feel privileged to have the services you provide.

Amazing space which is truly amazing when you stand in the middle on the ground floor and look up. As you would expect from a library it has lots of books and excellent resources. There are plenty of break out areas and study zones to go to and read and chill out. The Shakespeare room alone is worth a visit and the views from the balconies are amazing on a clear day. Also the cafe on the ground floor is well appointed. An all round great place to visit.

The roof of this is one of the best places to view Birmingham from. If you are visiting Birmingham don't miss this place. But if you just want to study or read the papers there is an excellent selection. I can be difficult to find your way to the top, just take the lift,to the right of the first escalator, it's easy then. Don't miss the Shakespeare room and the secret garden.

Ver nice decor but I liked the old one! It was easier to get to, being more central and it seemed a lot bigger TBH, with more books.

The old Central Library might not have looked attractive to many but it was a lot more relaxing and accessible. I really don't see what they had to shrink this library so much into this new, comparatively tiny cube which looks to me much like a giant wedding cake - is this because it was designed by a woman?

I absolutely love this library! A great space to be in to read and learn. I recommend going up through the building discovering the different areas. The map section is very cool and I love the roof terrace gardens. The top floor has a Shakespeare room and a great view.

Having spent all day trying to work on my thesis on the 3rd floor, teenagers spent the whole day talking and constantly disrupting other people. I think there should be staff walking around advising people that this is not a social place it a place to work as its not much good having a library you can't concentrate in. There are very few toilets on upper level floors which is not great given the massive study areas. WiFi is very good.
