Hi i have been using Home Leasing for a number of years now whilst renting out a property in Brighton and after having some major problems with a tenant i can only say that Home Leasing were extremely professional in their approach and very helpful in offering advise and sorting trades people for repairs etc
I can from my own personal experience therefore recommend Home Leasing as a very professional efficient and approachable firm to deal with.

Would never use this agency again and would strongly recommend others to avoid them. We were assured a couple of major repairs would be carried out before our move in date, they never happened. Any maintenance issues we reported took ages to get sorted, and that was after repeated emails and phone calls. We were left with no working heaters in the flat, which were never sorted. Mould started growing around each window (which were poorly fitted) and again after emailing with photo evidence, was never even acknowledged. Moved out as soon as our 6 month contract was up. Very unprofessional.

AVOID HOME LEASING BRIGHTON
Home leasing (64 Queen’s Road) were my letting agents for a year in student accommodation. I did not have a good experience with them. All communication with Home Leasing was difficult and drawn out. The manager would respond to emails weeks late, or not at all. At the beginning of the tenancy the manager was charming and helpful, full of empty promises about faulty items that would be replaced in the house. However, once the contract was signed he was a different person, continually shirking his responsibility onto his colleagues and avoiding all our emails and questions. If he did reply promptly it was with curt, petulant responses informing us nothing could be done about our grievances.
All the other staff were sullen, rude and uncommunicative and seemed very resentful to be asked to do their jobs. It is clear that their sole aim is to make as much money possible from student tenants and do less than the bare minimum in their role as letting agents. The rent in Brighton is extortionate as it is without incompetent and immoral letting agents stealing students’ entire deposits as well.
In conclusion, Home Leasing were inept, incompetent, immoral and rude. The manager and property manager especially, need lessons in grace, manners, correct business practice and morality.

Rented through Home Leasing for 2 years and they were excellent. Our property manager Lauren was fantastic - so friendly and always on top of her game. The experience was as stress-free as renting can get, would highly recommend.

Home Leasing have managed a flat for me in Brighton since 1998, and have been professional, always available and kind both to tenant and landlord. My direct manager has been Lauren Whinan and Matt, who have both been an excellent team who I am very happy to recommend to anyone, either landlord or tenant.

Avoid Homeleasing at any costs. They are not professional, they are rude, when asked for maintenance they take forever. When had leakage in room, and toilets were broken and mould and electricity cut for about a week they didn't send someone straight away and even told me that i should just go pay for a hotel if i couldn't sleep in my room due to their lack of care ofbthe property. Will never use them and i feel everyone should avoid them because they will not keep to the contracts or the promises they make

If you are reading this, please do not use this Home Leasing, for the following reasons:
The flat was not cleaned when I moved in, and I was told this without notice when collecting the keys
I was incorrectly threatened with legal action when they gave me notice after 4 months, before then making a u-turn and saying it was now okay to stay
I asked to communicate solely by email, which they never participated in, instead calling continuously despite me being at work
To get my deposit back, they requested closing bills from all utilities and council tax despite this not being in their jurisdiction
They lost my bank details when they finally emailed to say “congratulations” on getting my deposit back
I highly recommended using any other Letting Agent in Brighton.

Home Leasing have been absolutely wonderful throughout our past year of student rental. They were always very prompt at solving any issues we had with our property. They are so pleasant and friendly on the phone too. I can’t praise them enough for their excellent service and a special mention to our property manager Lauren and Kara in the office for helping us out with our new tenancy for the next academic year. We are now renting with the hove office and are so happy to be staying with the company. Thanks for everything guys!

Horrible agency, avoid at all costs! Not showing up for the appointment we had. Horrible service . Took time off work, wanted to speak to the manager as they told to wait, the agent is coming out of the property and no one did. The person refused to pass to anyone claiming he is the manager. Person rude, interrupting, not helpful.

Do not listen to bad reviews - We tried to work with a couple of other agencies before Home Leasing and they were all nasty and unhelpful, but with Home Leasing we had the easiest, most simple experience. They were so lovely and patient, even though we were being difficult. If you are students looking for an agency to rent with i would 100% recommend home leasing.

Avoid this letting agency by any means! If I could give 0 stars I would. On the rare occasion these agents would communicate with us they were rude and ineffective.
For two years the property had mice, due to the poor condition of the house exterior, and for two years we tried to get help from these agents, who would much rather put their feet up and do nothing. Countless emails have been met with neglect. It became almost pointless to try.
Riddled with fees, this agency prey on unsuspecting students finding their first homes. Despite having cleaned the house with a professional cleaner, these agents will find any way possible to bleed you dry of your security deposit.
For the two years spent with this agency, they were full of regret. Take my advice and stear well clear of this "band of great white sharks, at the very apex of their corrupt industry". A perfect description from another disgruntled customer in this review section.

The most horrendous people. I really dont have a good word to say about them apart from that their office is quite conviniently located. I dont know why I didnt check the reviews before I signed a contract with this lot (will not make that mistake again). Once you've signed, they want nothing to do with you - my sink trap was leaking and the bath was leaking into my poor neighbours flat!) I understand things break but I had to chase them so many times to fix these issues - my boyfriend actually ended up fixing the sink trap himself in the end. They rarely reply to emails. And now that I've moved out they want to charge me for things that were broken/unclean before I moved in. The absolute epitome of horror story letting agents.

My experience with Home Leasing was very positive. The agency is professional, yet the stuff is friendly and always at hand when I needed them. When I did need something for the flat I was in, they responded immediately, sorting any problems I had in no time. If I ever move back to Brighton they'll be the first agent I will get in touch with.

Unacceptable communication. My partner made an offer for a flat and he was waiting the landlord's decision. Well, no one got into the trouble to send an email informing us that the flat was taken by someone else. We found out from not seeing it anymore on Rightmove. I'm glad we didn't go further with a tenancy because I can't even imagine how terrible they would be after they secured us as clients if now they treated us this way.

We are renting a property from Home Leasing, and have been in the property for a few years now. The service we receive has been good so far, and all maintenance issues we have reported has been rectified. I found the staff friendly and I cannot fault them in any way. We received a very detailed inventory when we moved into the property, and I was impressed with the attention to details in this inventory. I would recommend anyone to use the services of Home Leasing.

AVOID THIS COMPANY! I would expand on this but a lot has been mentioned already. Luckily a relative of mine is a Lawyer so we got our full deposit back but before we gained legal advice they were wanting over 90% back from us (we left the property in better condition than what we moved in to). Also, no one is ever able able to take your call and the office staff lie to the whereabouts of property managers regualry. I would never rent / buy through this company again. Worst service I have ever experienced.

I've only just moved into my flat but my experience with Home Leasing has been okay so far. The agency fee's were reasonable; I got to move in quickly and on a day that I wanted; the referencing and guarantor process was relatively quick.
However when we moved in the toilet wouldn't flush, the heater had come off the wall, the light in the bedroom was broken and the shower didn't heat up properly. It is now a week later and the heater, light and toilet have been fixed, but I am still waiting on the shower which is the most minor of the issues to be fair.

Was a tenant with Home Leasing for 10 years; from the beginning they were very tenant focused, and did not have that 'money grabbing' feel of other agencies that I'd had dealings with before. Always quick to respond, friendly to deal with on the phone and in person - I don't have a bad word to say about them!
I regularly recommend them as a local business, they are professional without all the corporate nonsense that their competition flaunt.

Was so happy when we found out the property we loved was still available. We arranged a viewing within an hour of calling and managed to put the deposit down before anyone else did. We moved in a few weeks later and the house was sparkly clean. We haven't had any problems at all and everything has been straight forward. Thanks!

We have been using Home Leasing - formerly Charters - since 1996 to manage the letting of our flat (now flats) in Brighton.
The level of service and advice given has always been excellent. They are proactive, suggesting what should be done and then making sure that it is done quickly, often suggesting good contractors to use for decoration etc.
I would have no hesitation in recommending them to landlords and have found that they deal with tenants in an ethical and straightforward way as is shown by the long lets we have had.

totally incompetent. several issues have gone unattended, some for over a year. this has now lead to widespread damp along with large amounts of money lost on heating rooms with broken windows and heating water we cant use. will likely be taken out of our deposit going by what other reviews have stated. piss poor.

This letting agency is one of the worst I have ever dealt with. They are very unresponsive to any problems or complaints. They knowingly rent property that is faulty or inappropriate for tenents. When I went in person to speak to someone at the office I felt shut down and ignored. The men who work there come across as sexist and have made me feel uncomfortable and were dismissive of what I was trying to communicate. While my male partner did not have that experience they still never followed through with what they agreed to do. Also they completely screwed over my friend who was renting from them. It seems as though they often rent to people who have immigrated to the UK and may be in a more vulnerable situation not having family or many friends close by to help. They are making loads of money off putting people in miserable situations. With all the letting agents out there I would highly recommend you look at places other than home leasing on Queen's Rd. They should be shut down.

Slap an extortionate fee on everything, £££ for anything from pressing print on a contract, renewing a contract (press print again!), and even giving a reference so you can move house. Most ludicrously of all, they demand a guarantor for people with full time jobs - logic seems to be you can only rent a property if you own a property (if i owned a property I wouldn't need to rent would I?). Letting agents like this know they have private renters over a barrel, and are willing to do anything and everything to squeeze every last penny out of you. It's pure extortion, daylight robbery. Disgusting - how do the people who work at these companies sleep at night.

I'm sorry but Home leasing are the wort letting agents I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. Well beside the fact they never fixed the plugs hanging off the walls, the damp, even the slug infestation or the lack of customer service by never returning my calls when keeping me on hold for 10 minutes then saying they would call me back and never would. They are now without warning!, sending bailiffs round my family members house to collect money when they broke the tenancy agreement and the law!!!!. so if anyone decides to use home leasing i recommend steering clear away for your own sanity and well being.

Sad to say, but our experience with this company was good couple of years ago, but now when recently moved house they offered a bad one. Staff is nice and friendly over the phone or in person, they say they will take care of you every time, then nothing happens. Then, after we vacated the property in order it took them more then 6 weeks to get our deposit back only after repeated contacts. Very unprofessional, but friendly staff, your call but I would not recommend it.

Extortionate rent for the quality of service, slow to no response rate at all to emails, you have to call to get a response and half the time none of them are in the office. Getting our deposit back has been a very long and painful procedure. All in all these are the worst letting agents I've had the displeasure of doing business with. STAY AWAY.

Stay away from this agency!! At the end of our tenancy they literally tried to rip us out. We provided professional carpet cleaning invoice on the check out and they did not believe it was cleaned although we used the cleaning company that they provided us. The house was absolutely spotless on the check out and they attempted to take our deposit to decorate the flat not to fix because there was nothing to fix. We have had serious damp issue in the enterance since we moved in and reported this so many times, never been solved. Also they tried to take our money to paint the walls cleaning kitchen bathroom etc. although they already had a new tenant moved into the flat after we moved out! How does this work? Oven was burned before we moved in and they expected to find a perfect oven. They blamed us for the hooks on the walls although they were already there when we moved in. I’m not even sure our land lady knew what they were trying to do. We tried to find her contact details to let her know but couldn’t. It took long time to take our deposit back but in the end we did have it back because they were literally lying and blaming us for no reasons and kept asking our confirmation to agree them to take our deposit. We never agreed, my partner didnt mind how long this will take, he just wanted them to prove what they were blaming us with and then take our money. Obviously they couldn’t and they had to give up in the end. Please please stay away from this agancy if you don’t want to regret!!!

Terrible company. Awful, awful. Moved in to our flat with :
- no working water
- no working toilet
- the place was a mess
- things left by other tenants such as a mirror with BLOOD on it.
- a rotting window that was literally falling off the wall
- one of the employees, Sam, made racist remarks about the tenants before. I quote "the dirty Chinese left it like this".
- radiators often breaking
- shower broken - refusing to fix it because we have a bath
It's taken numerous emails, meetings, phone calls, and only a handful of these things have been sorted out. I'm literally getting myself into debt just paying for rent for this place.
In one meeting I was told 'at least you have a roof over your head'.
Extremely rude people that cannot do their jobs that I am paying them to do.
DO NOT RENT THROUGH THIS AGENCY

I think the previous reviews speak for themselves and I really wish I had paid more attention to them when I moved into my flat. They are unprofessional and an incredibly unethical company who do nothing and take advantage of peoples lack of knowledge, all while trying to the maximum amount of money out of their tenants. I love the place i'm living in but have started to look for other properties just to get away from having to deal with these horrid people. listen to your gut and STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!

Home Leasing are a scourge on society and are everything that is wrong with estate agents in this country. They are incredibly poorly led and single-handly epitomise why estate agents should be regulated.
Read around, do your research and you will soon discover who they are.
According to All Agents they are (currently) ranked in the bottom 16% of estate agents in the UK. This seems a little high, but it does leave you with a whopping 12,317 better estate agents than these characters. I suggest using (any) one of those but Home Leasing.

Home leasing are a pathetic excuse for a letting agent. First of all, I have had a broken window in my room, which came off at the hinges during high wind, that they replaced with a piece of wood, 4 months ago. And I am still yet to have an actual window put in. It's quite cold at the moment too... Secondly, we have repeatedly asked to extend our tenancy, but instead of either saying yes or no, they have decided to keep us in limbo, and put us on a month by month contract, that they can terminate at any point. DO NOT USE THIS LETTING AGENTS.

Only have good things to say about Home Leasing, me and my friends have rented a house with them and they have been so helpful, our heating broke on a Friday, they couldnt get it fixed on the day so delivered us heaters for the weekend! Then the guy came and sorted it on Monday :) Got our full deposit back really quickly too!
