Not sure why everyone thinks that a doctors surgery need to have grade A "customer service".. #1 it's a doctors not a shop and #2 they are answering the same type of calls every day.. Receptionists are fine, they have a lot of people (including myself) phone up at the wrong times for same day appointments. No doctors surgery will give that.
The rating is because it's a surgery, it doesn't need to be perfect. It needs to be there when you need it. It's ok.
Don't like it? Move to another one.

I phoned and the receptionist was rude. Upset because the time to call is not the right one. I was just ill and I could not call 8 oclock, I called 8.25. She just hung up on me. The doctors are good but the receptionist needs to change.

I am so much happier since joining Montpelier surgery. No GP practise is ever going to be perfect but they come really close! The reception and admin staff are friendly and Dr Findlay is a brilliant doctor. She's friendly, understanding and caring and works with you to help you feel in control of your health rather than another bum in the seat to brush off with rushed advice. Really impressed with them compared to other Brighton surgeries.

I use the website often for booking appointments and ordering prescriptions and spotted that there was not a 5 star rating. Why? My husband and I have been registered at this practice for 17 years. We have always had excellent service from doctors, nursing staff and receptionists. We were so sorry to lose Dr Cramp but are delighted at being looked after by Dr Findlay and Dr Gayton. Absolutely 5 star service. Thank you all for your dedication and hard work. Many of our friends use the same surgery and say the same. We are so lucky.

very very very rude receptionists. Do not call and ask questions because they will tut and sigh down the phone as if your bothering them. Complain and you will be sent a letter with a threat of removal. I do all my prescriptions and booking of appointments online to avoid this rudeness!

The Doctor's are fantastic but the booking system is just one of the most frustrating and ridiculous services I've ever used. Ringing from 8am hoping it's not engaged whilst also not being put on hold means redialling every 5 seconds to hear a dial tone for two seconds before it cuts out and youh ave to ring again, but ring after about 08:30 and you're abruptly told to ring earlier. As someone who is calling the surgery about anxiety and depression it's hard to have to do this knowing the receptionist you're going to get through to will be very rude. I mean the doctors are the best I've ever had but the customer service at reception is honestly so frustrating, stressful and unhelpful.

Very rude staff and receptionists. They always act annoyed like you're asking dumb questions when in fact you are just asking health related stuff. They want to get rid of you and they treat you like a number instead of a person. Doctors are ok overall.

I have been a patient at this surgery since I was 4.
I've experienced many changes, while they have been the Dr to most of my family.
The modernisation in the last 18 months has lifted the surgery to an A1 standard.
I've been lucky enough to travel most continents, and experienced both private and public services and without a doubt this surgery has to be one of the most efficient in the UK.

The eternal cliché of the unhelpful and moody Doctors receptionist unfortunately lives on at this surgery. I called asking for advice, and explaining that I would like to register and see a doctor asap to be told to "go to the walk in centre"- alternatively I could wait a week after my registration forms have been accepted.
I understand the registration process, but I don't understand a bad attitude.
