I’m an older road cyclist- been road-riding for 50 years. I was hesitant about taking my bike to Halfords- it is quite ‘top-end’ and means everything to me. The ‘lads’ were wonderful- very enthusiastic, skilled at researching parts and obviously knew their job. In particular, I liked the fact that they were respectful, they answered all my questions and were ready to take apart components in front of me and explain how they worked and what was wrong- I really appreciated this.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. Despite us booking a month in advance, and being told the repairs would take 1 day - the store held onto my girlfriends bike for over 3 months (her main form of transport to/from work!!!). We were continuously lied to it would be "1 more week" whenever I HAD TO CALL - (we were never called or informed of the situation) and when I finally pick up the bike today after ALL THIS TIME there is now NEW DAMAGE to the bike caused in store - where a steel pedal has literally been buckled and split - causing a sharp bit of metal to protrude. APPALLED AND FURIOUS.

Individual seemed to want to talk more about covid with a friend than acknowledge me as a customer when waiting at parts department . Didnt feel as if they wanted to serve .It felt like a bad customer service experience. Just even a quick comment to say they would be with me would have being sufficient.

I ordered a jump starter as my car battery was flat. Placed the order online and I received a text a few minutes later to say my order was available for collection. Really quick and easy process. Recommended for cycling equipment, helmets, lights, pouches to hold your phone or keys. You can get a free check on your bike, however the employee that 'looked' at my bike, didn't. He just put it onto the stand and then proceeded to fill out the quote form. I understood I had a few problems wrong however the quote I was given was £147 parts & labour. To some, this doesn't sound bad however this bike isn't a year old and I was told to scrap it and buy a new one. I will be using halfords only when I have to, otherwise I have found another great local cycling shop Covid; most of the staff were wearing masks however there was one that had it on but not over mouth or nose. Besides that, measures in place to keep distance and sanitize.

Recent visits to the store have been good. Products purchased have been good. Even a recent purchased, that was returned when found not to be suitable for our requirement, was dealt with and refunded easily and without any problems.

Due to a mistake on Halfords website, the wrong battery was identified for my car. I returned to the store where staff quickly recognised there had been a mistake and put it right. The incorrect battery was replaced with the right one. I have informed Halfords that the store staff acted very well to deal with a mistake that was not of their making. I hope to hear from Halfords that the error on their website is corrected so that no other customers have the same experience. That I was out to no small inconvenience was not in any way the fault of the store staff who were also inconvenienced by having to rectify the error.

I was served by a female member of staff at the Eastbourne store of Halfords on Friday 16th April as I was purchasing some car detailing products. The female on the till was very polite and helpful and made sure that I had everything that I needed from in store, I even made a saving with the blue light card. The female in question I know today 17th April was her last day working at Halfords as she said that she was returning to University, a true credit to the work force team at Halfords ????

I went into the store to get a rear wiper blade replaced and fitted and was given the incorrect product, this did not give me a very good impression of Halfords. I then had to hang around while the incorrect part was exchanged, and then sign on the receipt for the exchange, even though it wasn't my fault. I felt that the cashier lacked any personality or people skills. I didn't receive any £10 voucher as promised by the cashier. I got the impression that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

Staff in general are always happy to assist and they stock a good range of products. Such a shame the bicycle department is way below expectations - unhelpful member of staff who was unwilling to show any real customer service or enthusiasm or helpfulness - shame as I took my bike elsewhere in the end for an assessment!

Staff are polite but avoid eye contact, it seems so that they can avoid being asked for help. Only one server at till and a long wait to pay, no hand sanitizer on entry stock levels for what I needed were low or 0 despite calling ahead to check. I will go back because it's still convenient but may buy online possibly elsewhere if I can wait for delivery.

Very good customer service. I purchased two bulbs for my car, which I opted to have fitted. The gentleman who served me and fitted the bulbs was very pleasant and helpful. I also purchased a mobile holder for my car, which he set up for me. Would recommend Halfords (the store near B & Q).

I’m all for covid safety, but the measures in place here are counterproductive. We wanted the bike department (upstairs), but although it seemed almost empty up there, apart from a couple clearly shopping for a bike and understandably taking some time, we had to queue downstairs along with a group of other people... So queuing in closer proximity downstairs than we would have been if shopping upstairs, while also filling the shop with people who may otherwise have shopped and left, is deemed to be safer? Nope, it’s just box ticking. We queued for 20 minutes without moving, gave up and went and purchased a bike elsewhere. The conclusion - don’t bother with Halfords on a Saturday.
