I have always received professional care from the staff and Dr. DeTroye. They are very attentive to my needs and do their very best to make time to see me if at all possible. I’ve never had an excessive waiting period, so they really have their scheduling on point. Due to my health condition, I never know exactly when I may need the Drs care. I would highly recommend Watauga Orthopaedics to anyone needing good care.

Avoid dr Duncan at all costs if you are dealing with a on the job injury. He refused to see or acknowledge the problems with my back after an on the job injury. Typical of corporate America, crooked doctors and crooked politicians. Two other medical professionals saw and noted the obvious problems from my injury. Dr Jeffrey France is far and above an excellent Dr. and surgeon I'd recommend him to everyone.

Dr. Hurst is awesome. He patiently listens and doesn't believe in one treatment fits all. He can temper brutal honesty with kindness. The JC office stays busy and slow. Check in at desk, then wait. Go to 2nd check in for paperwork, then return to wait Go to exam room with assistant to prep for doctor. Wait. And then if there are xrays, well, couple more waits. There's usually a wait to check out as well. But the people and the doctors make it worth the hassle.

First evaluation and treatment for patient JH, this practitioner was focused. Correctly diagnosed acute medical issues with X-rays immediately ordered and read to ascertain diagnosis, he listened to Patient and explained assessment results and recommended Plan of Care. Patient in agreement and POC implemented: with appropriate orders and actions: orthotist provided and fit patient with orthopedic boot and orthopedic shoe foot riser for other foot with use and don doff instructions provided verbal and demonstration, FNP safely and proficiently completed steroid injection into Lt knee with reassurance to calm patient anxiety with orthotist assist, explanation of rest of POC- new Medication for pain and inflammation with order sent to my pharmacy, gel ointment use for Rt ankle and where to procure, order for Outpatient PT services with PT clinic resources contact information/ recommendations and return F/U visit with practitioner in 4 weeks scheduled. Orthotist assisted patient to walk safely to schedule One month appointment and to walk to car in parking lot where husband was driver with patient wearing orthotic boot and foot elevator for first time without assistive device, patient instructed in recommended safe assistive device to use at home/community with boot/elevator with walker safety use instructions. Pt has appropriate walker for use at home. Patient very pleased with this visit and staff. They were all great in every way! Including office staff and X-ray staff with safety fall precautions followed. I already feel better!

I had my left foot looked at. Dr. Cook looked at my foot and asked me several questions. He encouraged me not to run on the foot and to keep managing my dead skin by filing it down. An assistant also came and looked at the foot and worked on it for a few minutes.

Today was my first visit at Watauga Orthopedic. Dr. Duncan and the staff there are exceptional! Everyone was friendly, courteous and thoughtful! I spent no time waiting to be seen; everything that was needed to procure my diagnosis was handled very quickly and professionally. I have never had a better experience at a doctor’s office anywhere!

Went for foot pain , talked to the doctor. They took X-rays . Doctor says nothing broken,nothing I can do. Went to another foot doctor today. Identified the problem immediately. Took X-rays . Now we’re working on getting my foot healed . I had a great experience having surgery with Watauga orthopedic. So not really sure why I had to go somewhere else.

Shawn is always great to see when I have trouble with my right leg and ankle from being fused and the rod in my leg.
I saw Shawn today for my neck and he's one of the kindest medical people I've ever had to see, and I've had to see a lot.
He explained in detail what is going on with the disc in my neck and he prescribed a med to help deal with the pain.

[ November 10,2020 ] I have another comment to make we went back and her ankle is in fabulous shape for therapy should have started on November 3 but she got the stomach flu and couldn't go but she's on her way to walking great.
My daughter fell on her ankle and broke it all to pieces. They put the pieces together and put in a metal plate she has about 10 screws to hold it in place. She's doing very good she's not having very much pain now. They were very patient with her and the doctors took the time to answer every question she had. I gave a 10 but they deserve at least 100.

Went to them for severe back pain and numbness in the legs. I ended up seeing Dr. MacDonald. He requested a MRI. They were very quick to schedule it and get the results. Turns out that surgery was required pretty quick. The team was great thru the whole process. Now 4 weeks post surgery with no pain what so ever. Dr. MacDonald checked on me thru every process. I know a lot of people are afraid of back surgery not working and still having pain. If you have back pain and need to see a specialist I highly recommend Dr. MacDonald. Their whole team was wonderful and to have my life back is an understatement! Thank you Dr. MacDonald and staff!!

I have had to go to watuaga orthopaedics twice now. I had a torn ligament in my foot and I broke my finger and all the visits I’ve had with them have been amazing! They are always very prompt with my appointment and do the very best to get my limbs back to their capabilities. Without a doubt one of if not the best orthopedics in our area. I always leave with a smile!

I’m very disappointed with Watauga Orthopedics. I have been seen by Dr. Duncan for my neck pain in 2018. At that time Dr. Duncan told me to try medial branch block for pain but only to schedule it when I’m hurting. Because that’s the only way to tell if the injection is successful. I didn’t have any neck pain for some time but recently started hurting again. My wife called the office to schedule the appointment and was given an appointment in July. She tried to request a sooner appointment so we can try the injection. This morning, the office manager called and said Dr. Duncan have refused to see me due to my history and have nothing to offer. He is the one who recommend the injection and now he is the one refusing. I have never had any appointment issues, money issues with this practice. Always kept my appointment and paid on my account. They cancelled my appointment in July without any explanation. Dr. Duncan have treated my wife, my father in law and even me in the past and now for him to refuse treatment for no reason makes me upset. I have referred many patients to Dr. Duncan, as I know many patients who work in the same line of business as I do, and have chronic neck and back pains. This is so unethical to not even follow up on a patient and just cancel their appointment and refuse treatment, that was recommended by the physician himself. Dr. Duncan and the whole practice have disappointed me. If Dr. Duncan can see this, I would like to talk to him personally and ask why he refuse to do the injection. What caused him to not see me anymore without any valid explanation?
