Unbelievably bad service from Portland Road Dental clinic. I have had three appointments in a row cancelled, due to the dentist being absent b choice. One of these was 2 hours before when I had already taken time off of work. The receptionists are rude, sullen and unhelpful, refusing to acknowledge that repeatedly cancelling appointments booked weeks in advance is incredibly disruptive. The solution of offering new appointments doesn't really help, when those appointments are then also cancelled. I would recommend finding a reliable, and considerably more helpful dental clinic.

I would like to say a massive thank you to the manager. receptionist. dentist and all the staff. I phone for appointment the receptionist is so very helpfully. appointment is made. I arrive for my appointment always greeted with a smile and i am booked in. the place is spotless. I then get called in by the dentist always greeted so well by him. the nurse is always so polite to me....my teeth have never been looked after so well. . the work is always outstanding. so i would like to thank you all so very much . I give this practise 100%. you have a patience for life ????????????

Had my last appointment cancelled, have been calling for a few weeks now to re book, leave messages, no one ever responds. Last time I went the dental nurse was really rude. Everytime you go you have to refill all your details, I wont be returning.

Went to hygienist very apprehensive as l dislike my teeth being touch. He did very well and wasn’t painful but don’t need a hygienist and a receptionist telling me I’m fat bit out of there job role. ????
I’m sure most people would agree as another lady in the dentist with a child had the same experience.

The actual dentists are good but the reception staff are absolutely rubbish. They are so useless when it comes to trying to book appointments. Also, every time you go they don’t save your info and you have to spend 10 mins filling out a form about who you are...

By far the biggest bunch of clowns outside of Zippos circus, they need to swap the masks for red noses and the comedy will be complete. 4 cancelled appointments in a week. If possible avoid this place like a bat sandwich in Wuhan.

The practice cancelled my dental appointment the day before my surgery. I can't get hold of them on the phone at the surgery or their head office. They have my £100 deposit I've subsequently lost and when I went there to ask what's going on the reception team were rude and dismissive. Waste of time waiting for them to help me and now I need to find another dentist anyway. After trying to follow your response below, you have given me an email address that can only be contacted internally from your organisation therefore is useless to me. Anyone who is thinking about having dental work from this company should stay away as they are very shady and will steal your deposit money. I've been trying to contact them for over a month now and have been fed nothing but lies. Even their response to my review is false information

Having previously used this practice shortly after I moved into the local area, I was pleased with my initial appointment. However I recently rebooked to attend again and was offered a time via email to which I responded to say I would be happy to take it. I heard nothing and had a hunch their administration team failed to book it, so I called to discover it was never booked in.
They rebooked me for later in the week asking for a £25 deposit to secure the appointment, to which I then cancelled on a Wednesday to say I would like to rebook it for an hour later. Nobody got back to me again, so assumed it was still in place. I then received a text to confirm said appointment.
Today I went to attend this appointment (in the stormy weather) to find it had been cancelled. At not point had anyone contacted me to confirm this. Shocking how they are so quick to take your money for a deposit (which hasn't landed back into my account yet), not book you when you confirm you want a time slot but are equally awful at informing you when an appointment has been cancelled.
As someone who has worked in administration, I know the drill for these things. Quite frankly the communication within this practice both internally and externally is nothing short of shockingly poor.
Despite them being local to home, I will be looking to go further afield where my time as a patient will be respected, a quality this practice clearly lacks in.
Update: If they cancel your appointment, they don't refund you unless you request this as they pay all refunds by BACS. Had I not chased this I can highly doubt I would of heard anything from them. (NB: it took three emails with the last one being very short and me threatening to take up a complaint with the GDP for them to finally get back to me suddenly I was called in minutes...)

veryone is so caring at this practice. I can't fault them for their service. The main lift is currently out of order but the practice took the time to let me know and see whether I wanted to reschedule my appointment. I was most grateful they told me about the second lift going to the third floor. The receptionist was most understanding and has a beautiful smile.

Absolutely amazing, he is really friendly , always ready to help, very reasonably priced, Friendly practice and also the practice takes the dread out of dentistry, always a pleasurable experience to go. The dental treatment at this practice is first class, friendly, professional dentists and some of the best care I've experienced. The down fall however, is the lack of flexibility in getting an appointment, they book up weeks in advance and don't seem to keep any flexibility in their schedules for seeing people with more pressing problems, such as infections or pain. I have terrible tooth ache at the moment and I can't bee seen for three weeks. It's a real shame as otherwise I think the care here is great.

I had a very complicated extraction done from somewhere else but Portland road were amazing, they were understanding kind caring and helped with my anxiety, they had a very careful and professional approach they consistently saw me every couple of days for a period of 4 weeks with excellent outcome results. I totally reccommend this practice.

I have had a problem for 20 plus years with a root canal treatment that was done at another surgery and that no other dentist would attempt to fix it, and the dentist at this surgery fixed it for me and I no longer have pain or unpleasant breath - I am so pleased and grateful ????

I had an app with Nicola Tran she saw my children and was excellent. She gave them complimentary tooth coating on back teeth to prevent decay. I cannot recommend her highly enough

I returned for an appointment on Xmas eve for emergency wisdom tooth removal . Dr Brun was so kind professional and quick. I cannot recommend this dentist enough.
The reception staff are very helpful also

I've always liked Tooth Smart in the past, had great dentists and great hygienists but lately it is just getting more and more impossible to book an appointment.
The only way to do this appears to be over the phone or dropping in.
Sometimes I call about 6 times a day and I just can't through.
In the end I went to a different dentist and got such a good experience I just don't know if I'd ever go back.

Unimpressed with the service here. Last time I arrived early and was still waiting at least 15 mins after my appointment time to be seen. I had to wait for someone who arrived after me for the appointment before mine and was seen first. Today I am running slightly late, call to give advance notice and they say I will have to rebook.
Given how much you pay for the dentist some flexibility would be well received. As is I’m finding another dentist.

was brilliant he talked me through what he was going to do as I was very nervous he numbed my gums and my teeth before he started to clean my teeth I didn’t feel a thing when he cleaned my teeth thanks Daniel.

A terrible dentist I tolerated because it was on the NHS. I had one treatment which they only remembered to administer local anaesthetic half way through. They are always late and unapologetic, and to cap it all off they de-registered me even though I left a message saying I was unable to attend a previous appointment. They never notified me of this either. Try and go go elsewhere if you can.

If I could 0 stars I would. Like others, I was de-registered. I had an appointment just over a year ago and I was told that my 4 wisdom teeth needed removing and they would refer me to NHS. And that I should wait for an appointment from them.
Low and behold nothing was forthcoming and no referral was made. I called up to make an appointment last month to find out that because I hadnt made any appointments in a year I had been removed from their systems.
No warning or email or letter. Poor service.

Shocking customer service. De-registered is all as a family without any knowledge. When my husband needed emergency treatment they refused to see him. This is when I eventually got hold of them after calling for 4 hours and leaving voicemails. Avoid like the plague!!!!
