I'm not sure why I can't give this service a zero. I recently moved out of Mankato and was dreading living in a town where this potato quality Internet is the only option available to me. My girlfriend and I haven't even settled into our new house with our "super fast high speed Internet" from Hickoryventis Communications and already I am unable to play a game while she streams a movie on Netflix. We literally have to take turns enjoying our hobbies, otherwise she buffers for minutes at a time and I lag (ping) higher than what is possible to effectively play and enjoy a game. Any representative of this archaic garbage company that tells you that you and your family will be able to do multiple things on-line simultaneously is a blatant liar. Please take heed to this review, if you are able to choose between multiple service providers, choose anything but this company. I am a freelance IT professional and require the Internet to sustain a living or else I would boycott their service all together. Unfortunately so many other people are in the exact same boat (dependent on the single ISP in their neighborhood) that companies who lie and manipulate Download / Upload speed numbers like Consolidated Communications are still allowed to operate. This service is complete and utter trash. Finally, if you are on the fence about whether to choose based off of customer service or pricing, trust me... I would GLADLY go back to paying charter 65$/mo (I would pay 100$/mo for it if I could get it in Good Thunder) for their Internet and terrible customer service. The bandwidth they provided was well worth any hold times or foreign CSRs. Just because a company is "local" doesn't mean you are obligated to do business with them. They should also be earning your business. Consolidated Communications hasn't earned anything, they are just lucky enough to have their name on a bunch of leased phone lines. Avoid this company like the plague if you have the chance. You will thank me and all of the other reviewers who spoke about the service and the bandwidth and not about "the nice guy from Mankato" who is paid to manipulate you into thinking you are getting something worth your money when you sign up with this company.

Horrible company! The wifi is very on/off and doesn't work often. It is very complicated to fix and they offer no help when we've called numerous times. They claim it is our t.v. and router that are the problem (both brand new). All t.v.'s in our home will not connect to wifi at all (in our previous homes they have worked just fine with the wifi and routers), at our current home they claim it is not their wifi that is the problem when it most certainly is. They say they cannot troubleshoot our problems or send someone out to help. HORRIBLE COMPANY! Do not go through Consolidated Communications if you don't have to!

Even before the company was purchased and became what it is now. We were having issues with speed, dropped connections, just over worst internet speeds I've ever seen. Would call, the issues would be "fixed" when a tech showed up they would say "yeah wow that sucks, doesn't seem to be an issue though" and leave. This most recent endeavor has been a 5 day straight outage and despite multiple techs calls as well as someone coming to the house the best answer is "well I don't know what to tell you... It's not your equipment, and everything should be working but it isn't... Let me call you in the morning when I can get someone who knows what there doing on the phone to take care of this." The morning comes and he says the issues should be resolved, excited I come home to the same issue no resolution. Call back and all I get is "I don't know what to tell you, we don't know what's going on..." Honestly the single worst ISP ever.

Consolidated Communications is a joke. I stayed at my boyfriends house last night to be present when the cable company presented for a scheduled AM appointment. It's now 1:28PM and still no service person. Several calls have been made, they have heard the growl of us both, and we have gotten excuses. I hope this company provides compensation for all the unconvince it has caused.

Shoddy!!!! The installer literally ripped out the wire I ran so I could use a TV in two spots. He then spliced into the wire I ran, just twisted the ends and left them dangling from the ceiling!!! Live wires!! I'm shocked and appualed they ruined the wiring I had done instead of adding a new line. And then they finished by not sucuring the live slpiced wire by yet wrapping it around anything he could find to just leave it dangling.

The internet is not worth the money they charge. Suppose to have 40mp and paying for that and I don't get 10. Had them come out to fix so many times and it goes back to the same. They charge you and its not what you expect. If I had a choice I would go somewhere else.

I have the best internet service they provide. Download speeds I can deal with, but the upload speeds are the worst I've ever had. This company needs to stop wasting money on marketing and more on their services. Everyone gets you changed your stupid name! Unfortunately my apartment only allows me to use them.

Avoid at all cost. The only reason they're in business is because they have contracts with building management and that you have to go through them to get internet. I've been with them for 3 years, because I have to, my internet is extremely slow, unstable and unreliable. Seriously run the other way
