My friend and I visited Kanishka last week and were blown away by the food, service and selection of cocktails. The restaurant was busy so we sat at the bar and had a perfect view of everything. We ordered bar snacks with a few dishes from the a la carte menu, everything was so good but the highlight for us was the tandoori Ratan! Can't wait to see what this restaurant does next.

A very disappointing and distressing experience , we from our work went there for the Atul Kochhar tasting menu. 3 of us in our group were vegetarians and were given tags/labels to identify vegetarians amongst the group. Inspite of this I was served a chicken dish. When I gave th feedback to the hotel person his response was "I love chicken " . I have never experienced this disrespectful behaviour and a complete lack of empathy to a customer .That too in a place where hospitality is key.

I enjoyed this new restaurant during the soft launch, loving Indian food, I was intrigued by Atul Kochhar's 'high-end' take. It was delicious, the butter chicken was moorish, breads yummy and fried fish was light as a feather. Only slight disappointment with the coconut rice dessert which I found a little underwhelming. Service was smiley and welcoming throughout. Would I go again? Absolutely.

I regret this was surprisingly disappointing. Loud music, even after I'd asked them to turn it down. We couldn't talk without shouting. Tiny cramped tables, I swear once the cheap intro offers end there'll be space to take some away. Even then, I'd forgive both decor and noise but couldn't forgive the food. WTF was that about? Atul, you've never served lukewarm, bland, uninspired, and so very much unloved food ever! I loved you at Benares, you've cooked for me privately, but this wasn't special. I added a star for the cocktails... Please fix it.

I had a lovely dinner at Kanishka. I strongly recommend to try the Naga scallops, the banana leaf streamed seabass and the venison Videshi. Great food!!!

Atul Kochhar’s new restaurant after leaving Benares. Rather underwhelming with marble tables close together as well as loud music which really isn’t needed. The food is bland the only redeeming feature is the bar where there are innovative cocktails with the head bar person coming from the Cinnamon club. Have a drink at the bar and a snack don’t bother with eating in the restaurant.

Fantastic food, we had the duck breast and garlic naan recommended by Damian our waiter and we also had a goat curry and paneer. The food was fantastic, the best duck i’ve ever had. The service was great, Damian was attentive, personable and professional. The chef came out to say hello which was unique and added a personal touch to the service. Fantastic night all round and i’ll definitely be coming back. Also well worth the price paid.

Atul Kochhar has done it again! We had a great dinner experience at Kanishka at Maddox St. We went for the tasting menu (£65) without the pairing wine option. The sommelier was very attentive and recommended us a choice of red (Argentinian merlot) and white (New Zealand) that went very well with the different choices. I was pleasantly surprised on how attentive the staff was throughout the meal, not just asking but listening. We made a point about one person preferring less spicy dishes and they accommodated rapidly bearing in mind it was a fixed menu for the whole table. On the menu, few items to point out, the Tibetan guinea fowl soup was amazingly good with a great combination of flavours. Other dishes that we enjoyed were the seabass in a banana leaf and the goat and venison. On the goat we were also surprised as it had quite a mild taste yet full of taste. The venison was very tender and tasty as well but overcoming the sometimes too strong taste of game. Overall, great experience and good value for money

The samosa chaat and the butter chicken that are part of the lunch/dinner set menu are excellent, I was very impressed. Sadly the lamb biryani and non-veg momos we tried from the main menu were less so. Still, I am giving this 5 stars for the strength of that chaat and butter chicken goodness.

Precisely and exquisitely spiced, each dish revealing different layers of complexity and flavour. We had the tasting menu for the Holi festival, which included a Tibetan noodle broth with quail which was outstanding, delicious momo dumplings with a sesame and tomato dip that was fantastic, and the mixed tandoori grill with lamb chop, chicken and prawn all perfectly cooked and delicately spiced with a fresh mint chutney that was great. The goat curry and the black lentil dhal was fantastic too - particularly the dhal. And the rice pudding and peanut parfait with pineapple granita for dessert was so good. This was the nicest and most interesting Indian meal I have ever eaten and we would definitely return. For what you get, it was really good value. The front of house team were faultless too and so friendly and helpful. Thank you!

And then with a friend was visiting from outside the city and really wanted to eat some Indian food would me. We chose Kanishka as it was the new place in town but Atul K and thought we’d get nothing but the best. My friend reach there before me and sat at the bar. He tried a gimlet and sent me a text saying it wasn't the best that he had (given we had tried dishoom together before). I got there just after and ordered for a Lassi, a mango Lassi which the bartender confirmed he was happy to make. When the Lassie arrived it was watery, bland and completely tasteless. I’m sure even turmeric milk tastes better than that. After the trial of the disappointing drinks, we weren’t prepared for a disappointing foodie evening so decided to pop out. We paid for the drinks and told the lady how disappointed we were. She insisted we try the food ( really! After poor service and drink experience?). Walked out and with the option of Bombay Bustle and dishoom, decided to get a perfect gimlet at Dishoom. Note to self- read reviews and wait for 6 months before trying any new places!

Extremely disappointing! Food was very average, service dreadful and atmousphere lacking. Resented paying half price for the soft launch, let alone full price. This place seems to really think a lot of itself but doesn’t deliver on flavour at all. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere less snooty and more flavoursome like Dishoom!

I was so excited to try Atul Kochhar’s new restaurant last week but was severely disapppointed. The decor didn’t seem to fit in with the concept (bright green wallpaper and strong lighting?). We ordered the mixed grill, biriyani, goat curry and vegetables. All of which were under seasoned, bland and completely underwhelming. The food lacked the richness and flavour of Indian cooking. Save your cash go to Hoppers instead!

I had high expectations of the this place from a named chef like Atul Kochhar, but this was short lived, the Mango lassi we ordered was too watery and was visible in the glasses, the union salad, i understand the boringness of it but the unions felt a bit off and there was no taste or wow factor, the Momo's seemed like a tesco's dumplings with no real kick or wow factor, the Grill was overdone, the highlight of the meal was the Butter Chicken named on the menu as (Dads Murg Makhani), their was too many ingredients in the fish curry, desert was pretty boring. Overall the place lucks any passion at all which is evident in the poor presentation.

We went along to the soft launch last week with high expectations but left disappointed and completely underwhelmed. The masala mixed grilled was the only dish we enjoyed; the goat curry was bland, under seasoned but full of meat, the baked lamb biriyani was tasteless and the daal and egg curry was ok. We didn’t stay for dessert.

Kanishka is fantastic, high end dining experience. The staff were attentive and accommodating. Food was excellent, the mixed grill starter was on point. I would highly recommend the 'old Dehli lamb biryani'. I've followed Atul Kocher's food from Banares to here. Well worth the wait.
