Waiters and staff do not wear a mask, which made us quite uncomfortable as they come quite close to talk to you. Covid measures not observed as it should to prevent spread of the virus. Food was great but not all dishes were as good as we expected. The fish with coconut sauce was the best dish

It's a nice place but wasn't blown away by the food. Came using a time out voucher which was really good value but not sure if I'd be willing to pay full price there.

Great place to have Indian Cuisine. We were very welcomed there. Abid, was very kind to accommodate my family on a very short notice. Also, the European girl serving us was brilliant. Kept on taking time to make sure we were comfortable and satisfied. She even brough some complementary cake for my birthday. I dont like it if there are too many choices but I think the menu needs a bit more variety . The food was delicious though ????

Went for the 6 course sharing menu for 25 pounds a person. The food was very average on the whole, with two of the dishes being very poor (the momos had very thick skins and were stuck to the wrapper, the potato cakes were really bland and stick leaving an unpleasant texture in your mouth). The ambience was also very strange with loud music in a dim basement, though we were sat downstairs - the upstairs dining seemed a lot nicer. However, the staff did seem very nice and friendly. Overall, really not worth it, but perhaps the a la Carte is very different to the tasting menu? Edit: looking at other pictures, our food was not visually at the same standard. Perhaps there was a different chef on the night...

Delicious food, beautifully presented. Excellent service right from booking (with Natasha) to the waiting staff. Highlights include momos, goat curry, salmon and beetroot kofta.

Not worth the money. I don't know what ingredients they put, but I got so bloated after....I thought I gonna blow up. Either chicken was off or the sauce

We went here for Valentine’s Day for their taster menu. The quality of the food was overall high, variety of flavours and the design of the plates where beautiful. However, the service let us down ALOT! Hence the low rating. We were served by 4 different staff throughout the dinner which is a shame for a Resturant owned by a Atul Kochhar, since we expected higher quality of service. They did not have an understanding about the dishes. Spoke very quietly (close to whispering) when explaining the dishes, and couldn’t answer questions. Which made us give up on even asking or trying to understand what they’re trying to whisper. Another huge issue was when my partner nearly broke his tooth biting a pearl while having his oyster dish. Once we informed one of the staff, he spoke to the chef and was told “it’s normal and can happen”. Disappointing how they treated the situation! But I must add, I have no complaint regarding the food. It’s a shame as I would have gave Kanishka 5 stars if it weren’t for the front of house staff.

One of the best fine dining restaurant that I and my family ever visited.right from the beginning we were well looked after by the friendly staff, to mention Mr.Rizwan and the bar tender for their outstanding service. The ambience was lively with amazing food on the menu. The seafood curry was amazing.Totally recommend this restaurant for anyone who hasn't given a try to Indian food. The best part was saved for the last with the stunning and delicious desserts. It was a wonderful experience dining here.

Too be honest I was very excited to try Atul's menu, being from a family who have a nag of cooking and food taste I was very dissappointed. If I compare with few punjabi north indian vegetarian food there are far better restaurants which gives you a great taste satisfaction........Sorry Atul but I was dissappointed.

I read about Kanishka when it first opened, but was spoilt for choice with new Indian restaurants at the time and prioritised two other K’s (Kutir and Kahani), which had all opened around the same time. I’m glad I finally managed to get to Kanishka though, as it was a very good meal! We tried the scallops and chicken tikka pie to start, followed by the monkfish, goat curry and black dahl for mains, accompanied by some naans, and finally the peanut butter parfait and chocolate sphere to finish. Service was generally efficient, although occasionally on the slow side. The bill for two of us came to £250, of which £100 or so was spent on drinks. As mentioned, we did enjoy the meal overall, and would rank it as one of the better offerings in the hyper-competitive market we have in London when it comes to high end Indian restaurants. I’d give them 4.5 stars if I could.

This is one of Atul Kochhar’s latest restaurants and focuses on the North East States of India which include - Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura. The North East region offers a mixed culture of Hinduism, Christianity, Islam and Buddhism which clearly reflects in the cuisine. We were lucky to go on an evening to see both Atul Kochhar and Tina English at the restaurant along with the head chef Shishir Sinha. A great team and the most down to earth hard working people in the Industry I know. Maddox street seems to becoming the home of indian food with a few other establishments on the same road. THE MOOD: You get a nice feel when you walk in and pleasantly greeted and shown to your table, the restaurant has a great bar with comfortable bar stools where you can also pass your evening having a few drinks and snacks. At first sight it seem like a smaller venue, there is a large lower ground floor with a completely different feel which is set up for private hire and soon to be a private dining area I am informed. There is also a nice little terrace area outside so worth a visit during the summer months (although I think we have missed out this time around). THE VERDICT: I am very impressed by the menu selection and options, I really look forward to coming again and I noted the Diwali special set menu was only £35.00 per head so I would recommend keeping an eye on the events and what’s being offered as I think its a great idea to have events and experience days being offered. It was really a pleasure and cant wait to visit again and again. The only criticism is please add some more sweet and other mock-tails. There are so many items on the menus both a mix from traditional to some unique options that I left wanting more and more. So I have no choice but to return and give you a review on some of the other dishes on offer. Do visit for a memorable evening you will walk away extremely happy. You have to try the Atul’s Chicken Tikka Pie, Dad’s Murg Makhani, Kanishka Signature Black Dal and Sagolir Manxo (Goat Curry). Although I did not try Gangtok Momos I did see someone else order this so I will look to try these next time also.

Good food. Been there with a group. Good service. The special holds true. Chicken curry pie. Ask for a mix to share for starters too. I'm not a big fan of basement dinner room. I'd like to go back and eat upstairs.

Fantastic food. I absolutely loved it. I am a big foodie and have been to lots of restaurants in London. This is probably the most creative combination of flavours in Indian food I’ve tried. Would love to go again. Service was great as well.

They are offering very pricey delivery meals during lockdown. I tried to order what they advertise as Bundle meal for 2 on social media for £52 to enjoy at home. But delivery costs £25 - this becomes extremely pricey £75+ for a meal that’s arrives in disposable Tupperware to be eaten at home without the restaurant atmosphere. I wouldn’t mind spending this amount to dine in the restaurant but It looks like this option is just for rich customers.

Wifes 40th birthday meal was here. Pre-arranged that a cake/birthday dessert would come out. But, it didnt as the mains took forever to come out. Then, due to Covid - closure was 10pm. So, bit of an overall disaster. Staff are reasonably rude. And when complained to the GM - its all about a free drink next time you visit. But why would you visit again if they cant manage it on the special day! Food was Ok though - just delayed. They seem to spend too much time on tables of 7 and 9 (which im sure isnt within the rules for Covid in Sept) and those tables were mingling too. I would celebrate elsewhere if you are thinking of a special meal here - much more professional establishments locally in central to this.

Very good restaurant. All the dishes were tasty, the service was nothing special but was present when needed and responded quickly. The cuisine has both traditional and more experimental dishes, which was a good mix. A perfect place if you want a solid Indian dinner.

We loved the monkfish and the scallops were good. The rest of the tasting menu was ok but nothing special. Felt a bit like they tried to forcefully merge scallops, monkfish, steak with the Indian cuisine. Some other things... We received the first dish before we got our drinks. When we asked what wine they could recommend they appeared unsure and seemed to default to the three most expensive wines. It was a nice dinner for sure. We just felt that we would have preferred a traditional Indian restaurant to this.

Food was really nice, i got the butter chicken and a portion portion of rice, but it heavily overpriced for what it was and the amount it was. But the service received was good.

My family came here for my mum's 60th birthday to this popular restaurant. The restaurant is really quite stunning and we were sat in a nice quiet table by the window upstairs. Food wise we wanted to try a bit of everything (most of us are vegetarian and they had A LOT of options) We ordered the Kathal Shapta, Gangtok Momo, Classic samosa chaat and Kolkata puchkas for starters. All were absolutely delicious! My favourites were the mono's especially the sauces which were very authentic (I have a Nepalese friend who makes it and it tasted exactly the same) and the samosa chaat. Onto mains we ordered the masala mixed grill, dads paneer maknee, and a kadhi dish which I can't find on the menu online but it is there in the restaurant. I loved the masala mixed grill and kadhi dish was so unique with the kale. The dishes may have looked small but they certainly were filling. The only dish I wasn't fond of was the maknee. It was very sweet and we're just used to having paneer spicy. But otherwise it was lovely. As it was my mum's birthday they brought out a little dessert with a candle etc for my mum which was so nice of the team. Overall had a lovely time here! I'd definitely like to try the menu again when they next switch it up!

Fabulous food. Came here on a £30 timeout deal for 6 sharing plates and a cocktail. Everything was lovely. The samosa Chaat in particular was amongst if not the best I've ever had. Can't believe the deal to be honest - you'll not find food of this quality for this price probably anywhere in London (believe me, I've been looking!). Loved it so much, I came back a week later and food was the same exceptional standard. As was the wait staff, which makes a huge difference. Thinking about coming again next week.. Seriously.

Ok but tables are too close together, service a little slow and Atul certainly didn't cook the bland and over cooked vegetarian dish.

Went here on Saturday with a group of 6 and we had such a great evening. The guys at the bar made cocktails with meticulous precision and it was like art. The menu was varied and catered for all of our dietry requirements. The staff were really attentive and there was a nice atmosphere in the place. We would recommend this place in a heartbeat and look forward to coming back.

Had a flawless meal at Kanishka last night. We chose the 8 course tasting menu which was incredible. We loved every course but we’re still dreaming about the monkfish - the most amazing flavours!! Only downside was we got so full by course 6 (ha!) we couldn’t manage all of the curry course but what we tasted was amazing! We were even brought a complimentary glass of fizz and cake after (we presume!) a member of the team saw our post on Instagram that we were out celebrating. Service was immaculate and we were very well looked after by Rizwan - who explained every course in detail. Overall we couldn’t fault Kanishka and even though this was our first visit it was clear they have adapted very well to all the new regulations in this weird new world. Social distancing was observed between tables, with complimentary hand sanitizer on every table. Thoroughly recommend. We will be back!

Went for lunch with some colleagues, we all had the 3 course lunch menu. The good: Location is great, right off a Regent Street in Mayfair Food was excellent, very flavorful and good quality The bad: Prices are very very high, even for Mayfair Decor is a bit odd. Loved the chairs and floors but the walls are tacky Service was spotty. Generally friendly, but flat out refused to make an iced coffee for one of my colleagues. It's the easiest 'off-menu' request ever and they would not do it, even though they were not busy. Inexcusable for the prices they charge With better service and prices this would be a 4.5 Star place

Highly recommend this place. I asked the concierge at our hotel for some Indian recommendations. He gave us three and put this as highly must try. I’m very glad I did. The menu is different from what I usually see in the restaurants. The black dal is incredible in my opinion. They had goat on the menu, so I had to give it a shot. It was incredibly tender. If you are looking for great food that is a little out of the standard wheelhouse, check them out.
