Recently took my car for and MOT here, They failed it on two things that were minor things, the car had just recently had the two front shocks changed and an expert had seen the car, especially the front suspension area on both sides, which is what they happened to say needed fixing. Now, they quoted £218(NOT including the MOT) to change one track rod end and a bit of rubber that goes over the constant velocity shaft.(which doesn't have a criteria on the MOT, and it is therefore definitely shouldn't have failed!) Not to mention that when I asked the mechanic to show me what was wrong on the car itself his attitude completely changed.. To me this is proof that someone has something to hide or has done something wrong, if not it would be normal procedure to show the customer. I went within the same hour to an MOT garage in Brighton, who did the MOT.. picked up completely different things to what they had.. and charged a total of £70(the only things needing attention were the windscreen wipers, headlight adjustment and backlight bulb) INCLUDING £35 for the MOT. I was treated far better and did not feel taken advantage of. I am 23 years old, I drive a fiat panda, and to most young people £250 is just under a weeks work.. I don't think I am the first person to be ripped off by this big cooporate company. They make a lot of money based on the ignorance of the people. It is not on to lie and cheat people. I am going to write to kwik fit to request a refund, and to the DVLA to tell them of my experience, as anyone else who feels that they have been wronged should do.

I’ve had multiple bad experiences with this company and this branch! The first bad experience I had with them is when I took my car in for an MOT and they told me my car was a not safe to be on the road it needs thousands of pounds put into it to make it safe and legal to be on the road, they even told me to go and buy a new car because it wasn’t worth the time or money. I took it to another garage it failed there but only cost me £300 to get it through the MOT and make is legal and safe enough to be on the road. Also some of the things they picked up on where false and other things they didn’t even pick on at all. So clearly didn’t have a well experience mechanic carry out the MOT, I am so glad that I went to this other garage! Second bad experience another one of my cars had an issues with the exhaust and when they got it up on the ramps you could see that there was a large hole in it. They reported that it’s not fixable and obviously I argued this and said can you not just get someone to weld it up? He said no the person to do this isn’t in today. And insisted that I got a whole new exhaust pipe and system that again when quoted to me was stupid amounts of money. So I called another garage and they said it didn’t need a whole new exhaust and it just needed welding and only spent £100 because it had more than one hole which were pointed out to me. Third bad experience the company car had a puncture we took it in to them and they said they will be able to look over it within the hour we said that’s fine we have appointments throughout the day so give the office a call and someone will pass the message onto us when it can be collected. So we left it in thier company at about 10am I called them at 11:30am asking for an update and they said the guy is just looking over it now and they will give me a call back. So I waited until 14pm and finally they gave me an update, they reported that all four tyres needed to be replaced because all of them had punctures they quoted £600+ to get all four tyres changed for a Smart Car. Obviously the boss wasn’t happy with the quote and said ask around and see what other companies would charge so we did and got booked into another garage and got charged £375 for four tyres. Not only that but when we went to go collect the car they had abandoned in and driven it into the bins next to there garage leaving a red scratch on the wing mirror. So I went back into the office and said you hit the bins next to where the car it parked and damaged the vehicle they said no we haven’t I and I replied come and have a look at how the car has been left so he came out looked at the car wiped the scratch which didn’t go so I asked him what are you going to do about this? And he walked into the office so I thought he was going to get something to say sorry or give us some compensation for the damaged they had caused 5 minuets waiting he never came back so I just drove off. So the moral of the story is if you want quality or value for you money then don’t come here find another garage. They will rip you off, take ages to do things and scam you as much as possible!

Similar to David, I took my car here for a service and I was told that my rear brake disks were worn down below regulation requirements and at a cost of £400 they should both be replaced. Feeling I should get a second opinion I went to the Renault garage, where they took a look at it for free and said they still had a good 15,000 miles left in them and quoted me nearly £100 less for when the work needs to be done.

I had a problem with my electric windows. I had to wait half a day while thier professional checked it out. Then they said I needed a new mechanism and would cost loads. I took it to another place and they changed the fuse for free and now it works great. Don't trust them, will never go back.

I came here due to a puncture in one of my tyres and although they promised the service would be done within the hour, the guy charged me over £350 because apparently all four of my tyres needed changing. Being 19 years old whilst at uni I could barely afford it but thought since these guys are probably experienced I should listen to their advice. Good thing my uncle was wise enough to tell me I was literally being scammed. He took me to the independent garage he is familiar with and they told me the back two tyres were completely fine and changed the front two for only £30!!!!

Always have done a good job fitting tyres and exhausts on many cars I've had over the years. Always buy the tyres online from them before hand if you can as you get around a saving of a 3rd compared to the price you pay in the shop. It's normally a 3 day delivery time for when they can get fitted.

I had my car taken to Kwik Fit by the AA for a clutch replacement. I was advised within 10 mins of arrival that to replace this the total cost including labour would total £1050. Fortunately sense prevailed on my part and a few phonecalls later my car was booked in with Mr Clutch who confirmed the next day the clutch to be in working order and that the failure was a clutch master cylinder which was fixed within 24hrs at a cost of £398 inclusive.

Took my car for an M.O.T and got a verbal quote for approx £500 followed by an immediate "Do you want to go ahead with this?". Walked away and looked at the paper work, lo and behold 90% of that was advisory. Went to a garage recommended by friends and passed with one advisory that hadn't been picked up by Kwikfit and the thing that Kwikfit had failed me on wasn't even mentioned. To be avoided.

Id seen the bbc watchdog investigation into Kwikfit but as a mechanic trained and savvy man I genuinely didn't think it would happen to me in my home town. DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS AND DO NOT LET THEM NEAR YOUR CAR. If in doubt google "Kwikfit scams".

Took my car here for an MOT which had been fully serviced only 3 weeks before at a different company. Qwik Fit passed the cars MOT however commented that it only just passed on brakes (56% quality with a 50% requirement). Qwik Fit then strongly tried to sell me new pads which I declined as I was sure the car was fine and nothing was mentioned in the service 3 weeks prior. A month later I had the car tested at a friends garage where the car scored 75%. Basically, long story short Qwik Fit were fixing MOT results to get extra business. If you have a £25 / £35 offer for an MOT don't be lured in.

Went in to get a puncture repaired and was told that the tyre was illegal due to wear. I pointed out that the tyre indicators showed that the tyre was nowhere near being illegal. After pointing out that I use to do his job years ago and the fact that the car had recently passed it's MOT and just had a service, suddenly the tyre was no longer illegal? They also charge a separate fee on top for the fitting of their tyres, which their competitors don't!

My car broke down in Brighton today (Saturday 27th August) and the recovery took me to Kwik fit in Lewes Road. The problem was I needed a new hose as one had split and all the coolant had escaped. Jason (manager) tried to get through to Vauxhall main dealer to get the part but was unable to get through on the phone and he surmised that they were shut. I then had to arrange to get my car re-recovered to a garage closer to my home in Purley. I was then stuck in Brighton with 4 children so I asked Jason about hiring a car. He phoned Enterprise Car Hire and one of the guys drove us all to the Enterprise offices. He had absolutely no obligation to do this as I hadn't even bought or paid for any services or goods. Amazing service from this branch of Kwik fit.

Took my car in for an MOT and was told that the fuel injectors needed replacing as well as something to do with the omissions and would cost £850. Took it to another garage for a second opinion and was told there was nothing wrong with three of them. It cost £280 in total and I had some extras done with the second garage.

Do not trust. They once forgot (!!) to tighten wheel nuts on my car so the wheel came off while driving around the corner. While they replaced the wheel and my disc breaks from the crash, i'll never forget 1) they said to "not go to the media, as somebody could lose their job" (never mind the cyclist very lucky to be alive from my rogue wheel flying at him and only at 30mph) and 2) they were "disappointed in me for doing so as they didn't have to replace my [ruined] breaks". Never ever, ever again.

DO NOT USE UNTRUSTWORTHY. About a year and a half ago I had a flat tyre and filled it up with foam so I could get it to the garage. Unfortunately my nearest option was here. I was told that they couldn't deal with the foam in the tyre and repair the puncture. I opted for a new tyre on their advice. I had to go and get a slow puncture repaired at another garage today. The guy showed me the cracks in the tyre and we put on a new one. To my disgust it was obvious that Quickfit hadn't given me a new tyre and had simply repaired the old one, which they said they couldn't do, cleaned it up and fobbed me off that it was new. I know this as I saw the residue from the foam inside the alegged tyre that had been replaced. If I had time I'd take this further but I WILL NEVER USE QUICKFIT AGAIN.

MOT 'abandoned' because they couldn't open the bonnet. No one bothered to call to let me know, so I called 1h15 later expecting it to be done or nearly done (according to time frame they specified) only to be told MOT had been abandoned. Person I spoke to asked when bonnet was last opened - when told I opened it myself only a couple of weeks ago he said he would take a look and call me back within 10 mins. I called again after 15 min - he still hadn't looked but said would do in the next 5-10 min and that 2 'technicians' had tried to open it without success. Nearly half an hour after my first call, he finally rang back to say he also couldn't open it, would have to call Ford to get quote for replacement part and take grate off etc to fix it. Needless to say I collected car to take to more competent garage and once home we tried it ourselves and soon had it open. Never again, Kwikfit, never again! Previously also had a similar experience to others, apparently needing multiple replacement tyres - was dubious about necessity and extortionate price. Added to today's farce I absolutely would never recommend or use KwikFit for anything!

Typical KwikFit con artists! I took my car to this branch for a simple slow-puncture repair, and before I knew it was told that three of my four tyres needed replacing (with top of the line £70 tyres, obviously), that the slow puncture couldn't be repaired, and that the tracking was out and would cost £50 to fix. I was on the brink of parting with over £250 when I decided to seek a second opinion. Took my car round the corner to a tyre specialist, who advised that the slow puncture was absolutely repairable (and did it there and then) and that only one of the tyres needed replacing. I then took it to a second garage to get the tracking checked, and was promptly informed that it was indeed off, but by less than 0.5 mm and wasn't worth my time or money getting fixed. The garage literally refused to take my money as they knew it wasn't necessary! AVOID AVOID AVOID

After ringing up Kwik-fit needing a tyre change I was told just to come in and they'd sort it. I then asked if they even wanted to check if they actually had the tyre I needed in stock, which they did. I went down and first of all, they tried to bull**** me into changing the pair of tyres due to having a quattro car as if I didn't this would 'ruin the gearbox' The other three tyres were all new (7-8 mm on each) and told them I'd risk it with just the one. After this they then preceded to tell me the tyre I wanted was out of stock and told me they had another one I could have. This one was 3 times the cost (the one that I wanted was advertised for £160) and they started to go about setting me up with the new one (all without mentioning any money). I questioned the price after watching the guys computer monitor (think his name was Jason). I told them that I didn't want the tyre which they were blindly going ahead with and was told they could get the original one I wanted but I would have to wait till the next day. I told them there was another option and told them to take my car off the ramp and that I wouldn't be returning. I've now got the tyre I wanted originally being delivered and fitted for £145 from Black Circles. Will never use Kwik Fit again. complete rip off merchants and wish I hadn't wasted my time. I advise anyone else to avoid them like the plague

TOTAL RIP OFF MERCHANTS. First they tried to sell me 4 of the most expensive tyres they could -£800. When I protested they tried to sell me 4 cheap tyres for £420. After looking up the value of the tyres online and realising they were £33 each I left. My advice is order good tyres cheap on line and get a mobile mechanic to fit them do the tracking and balance them at your home.

Booked an MOT over the phone and was expecting to pay £30 as stated on the website. They charged me £50! and I was told that as the test was booked over the phone they couldn't give me the internet price of £30. I then got home and realised that my diesel tank was practically empty, and it was half full when I dropped the car off. This branch is run by dishonest charlatans who clearly rip customers off.

I am absolutely disgusted with the way in which kwik fit conduct their business. I took my car in on Sunday 9th November to the Lewes Road branch (against my better judgement but it was the only mechanic open) as my exhaust bracket had corroded in my peugeot 207 GTI and it was dragging. Derek put it up on the ramp for me and had a look and told me he needed a specialist part and couldn't get it until Monday. I left the car with him and he called me Monday morning to advise I needed a whole new exhaust and with fitting it was going to cost £530. I decided to take the car to my usual and trusted mechanic for a second opinion as I had reviewed the cost of parts online and felt this was steep. My mechanic advised me there was nothing wrong with the exhaust itself, replaced the brackets and secured my exhaust for the princely sum of £144. I know that people use kwik fit if they are needing some work done quickly but conducting business in this fashion is immoral and unethical. Your company are preying on people who are desperate to get their cars back on the road and by making people purchase unnecessary parts and have work done that doesn't need doing you are causing great upset and financial hardship. I will NEVER be using kwik fit again and will tell anyone who will listen that you are a bunch of cowboys with unqualified 'mechanics' to do unnecessary work.

I needed a wheel bearing changed, and knew exactly what the problem was as a garage which closed early on weekends had already looked at it. With the job being urgent, I took it to Kwik-fit who were the only place open. I explained the problem, insisted that I needed only 1 side changing but charged for both as apparently 'company policy to replace both at once' which seems dubious, but having challenged it there was no movement and had to pay up for both sides to be done - who knows if they actually were! Icing on the cake was going to collect it, when the car was brought up outside the door for collection, I watch with horror as the car heads straight into a main road (from a side road) at quite a speed. This apparently was due to the brakes having not been put back on correctly before being taken out. Luckily, the car was not hit, but was shocking to say the least to see the car you entrust to a branded garage go squealing into traffic! The work was done quickly and on the same day, which was important, but I can't help feeling that something may be coming back to bite me further down the line and I don't have much faith in the quality of work done. Essentially I would go elsewhere if possible, however, sometimes needs must.

Usual bad service not taken car in for tyre replacement and needed allegedly 1001 other things done but this time air conditioning top up gets to using it on my holiday to Italy only to find the normal standard of Kwik fit it didn't work so on return I will be seeking a full refund will NEVER use Kwik fit again
