What a pity I am not permitted to award no stars; an awful experience! Once entered we stood at the counter waiting to be seated (since it was supposed to be table service! Many members of staff walking past us; no-one acknowledging our presence let alone helping. Eventually my wife found a table on her own and went to sit down. We eventually ordered at the counter. I was told that I could not have a small fish & chips and that only the large was available if I wanted it. I changed my meal to tempura as I did not want a large meal. We sat down waiting for the food/drinks to arrive. It took a while before we saw our drinks being taken over to another table. The people on this table directed the waitress to us. One drink was missing, another was wrong then to add insult to injury, I was told that the meal I had just been sold was also not available. The waitress was totally unapologetic and just shouted 'in this weather it just depends what is delivered on the day'. Did she not know what had been delivered that morning before trying to sell it? This place is such a shambles. People standing around not knowing what to do. Lots of selling up and selling of non-existent dishes. Not Covid safe; people turning up after us simply had two coats removed from the backs of chairs and they were seated with no wiping down. Overall, just a panicky, money-making, unsafe environment. We demanded our money back and found somewhere else to eat. We would not revisit for a free meal. Do not touch with a bargepole!

Good food and good service on the beach. Sadness only due to the lack of mushy peas with the fish and chips.

The person who did our refund said that they had recently taken over the business, so I think this is under new management. I ordered chips, and was asked "Take out or sit in?" I said take out and was told "Oh no we can't do take out, its table service." despite having just stood in a queue to order at a till. There was a table free outside, so I said okay I'll sit down. The young person on the till wasn't trained and in desperate need of help, instead of the criticism he was receiving from everyone else. They clearly didn't have a defined system for taking orders or serving food. I was then told to sit down and wait for my food to be brought to me, but then someone shouted "chips!" and passed me a small bowl over the counter. I had ordered a drink but wasn't told I was supposed to get it myself from a fridge at the back. My friend ordered cod and chips, and we sat outside (while I ate my small bowl of saltless chips) for half an hour before deciding to get a refund. While all of this was going on (including the refund process) there were two men (who I think were staff there?) arguing and getting cross with the other staff about how everything was going wrong. One blamed the customers for moving tables, in a voice loud enough that I feel like it was for us to hear. This was a very strange experience and sadly I cannot recommend this for getting seaside fish and chips. Edit - it should be noted however that the person who did our refun was very apologetic.

Great food. Nice atmosphere. Enjoyed ourselves here. Will say on my first trip here, was served a latte with almost no milk, this was remedied when I returned without any problem, so overall not over priced, an enjoyable stop during a wonderful day in Brighton

Chips are very average. Like oven chips you buy from a supermarket.

Would not recommend the cooked breakfast, very small portion and over-priced.

DONT HATE WHEN WE LACTATE Lovely day out in Brighton today although I feel very shocked that there are still a lot of closed minded people when it comes to breastfeeding in public places, it should be seen as the most perfectly normal way to feed your baby and women should not be made to feel uncomfortable while doing so, especially when the UK has the lowest rate of breastfeeding mothers in the world, rather than turning noses up to breastfeeding mothers I think we should all be saluting them! While feeding I always try to be discreet without covering my baby boys head as he does not feed properly and finds anything covering his face irritating and will only pull it off anyway.Being asked to cover up by a member of staff of the seafront cafe called Grand Junction in Brighton because people are eating left me feeling very angry and disappointed, so decided to take our custom elsewhere. I doubt anyone would like eating with a blanket over them! Why is it exceptable for women who chose to wear low cut, revealing clothing wherever they please but not to breastfeed comfortably? That all being said I don't give a f**k what anyone thinks or how it makes anyone feel if I need to feed my baby I will do so wherever and however needed , he is my number one priority and I am doing my best to give him the best start in life, as are all the other new mummies /mums. So let's all stand together and raise those middle fingers to whoever has any negativity towards us just being the best mums we can be! ???? Peace out ✌????
