I submitted a claim and had to amend and re-serve the claim as a detail was wrong. The court received this amended version because they posted me a copy dated 28th November. They also then sent me another copy for some unknown reason a week later. I then get a letter dated 28th January giving me permission to amend and re-serve, something I'd already done 2 months earlier. I phoned and was given an email address so I send an email in explaining the situation. Two weeks later I get an envelope through the post with the exact same later dated 28th January, only this time it has two copies of the letter in. I work in administration so I know what it can be like to work in large unwieldy organisations. However, the awful administration of such important work like this doesn't give me confidence for the entire process. If they are sending me letters asking me to do things that I did 3months ago, how can I rely on anything else, like is someone just reading my email and sending out a duplicate to answer my question or was this just a coincidence that I've got a second copy? Am I better off replying with to the letter with my own letter? Do I actually need to do something else that the letter doesn't invite me to do? Do you still have my amended claim? If you have my amended claim why are you giving me permission to amend it? Why isn't someone seeing the amended claim on my file? And then it leads to having faith in other, potentially bigger things like, how can I be confident that the correct evidence will be passed to the judge? It might only seem like a small administrative thing, but having faith in the process is the whole point of this. A bad/confusing experience where nobody seems to be giving out any correct information gives an awful impression. As this review explains, I'm not even at the part of getting a hearing date, I'm sure there's fun and games to come yet.

My partner is a defendant in a small case action and is a litigant in person, so he knows nothing about the legal system and how it works. At a preliminary hearing both parties agreed to mediate. The court said it should happen before 1 February 2021. Before the preliminary hearing took place the defendant had informed the court on a couple of occasions to correct his name as it was wrong. But the court was still sending him documents with the wrong defendant’s names. The court mediation service must have then realised the defendant's names were incorrect, so mediation could not happen. So I contacted the court in mid-December 2020 to request they change the defendants names and to arrange a mediation session before the 29 March 2021, which was the deadline for a trial fee to be paid for a 2nd claimant to be added to the claim. The court must have received my emails because on 25 January 2021 they changed the defendant's names, but as of today (05/02/2021) the court has not replied to my request to rearrange mediation. I just did not know what was happening or what to do, so I phoned the court to ask for help about how to arrange mediation. The girl I spoke told me that the court had received my emails and that on 25 January 2021 they were dealing with my request. But that did not answer my question about how to arrange mediation. So I emailed the court mediation service asking them to set up a mediation session. To the email I attached the General Form of Judgement or Order confirming the defendant’s name was amended and the first General Form of Judgement or Order that stated mediation should take place. I am hopeful that mediation will happen but contacting the court is like seeking an audience with the queen because they do not reply to my emails. Also I found that getting information from them, not legal advice, but basic information on what to do and who to contact to rearrange a mediation session was difficult. They provide no information on documents or emails about how to do it. When I emailed enquiries they did not reply and when I phoned the court the member of staff I spoke to was friendly but unhelpful because she had no knowledge of what I was enquiring about. The court just maintains this silent, aloof, unapproachable manner. This is inconsiderate and insensitive behaviour on the part of County Court Central London and is hindering justice especially in the case of those, like my partner, who are representing themselves and have no knowledge of the court or legal system.

One of the most incompetent people gathered under one roof! It's a complete shame they call themselves customer service as they have no clue what the term stands for. Third world work ethics in a so-called first world country!

They send the order of judgement too late to seek legal advice Custome service is absolutely appalling. They are very slow to reply to emails and they only provid 1 telephone number and email address. They provide another telephone number for payment which they take your money quickly without any questions and if you pay too much by mistake they don't want to know I wonde if any other civilize country has such a backward legal system In other businesses if you are not happy you go somewhere else but with British court you don't have a choice unfortunately.

Apparently a palace for the bureaucratic sloths that hide in the justice system. They are rude and uncaring. Avoid if you possibly can as they spend more time doing anything than what the general public considers as "work".

Awful system. Been trying to sort a case for 2 years. For the last 6 months been batted back and forth. Nobody can take responsibility. All I want to do is submit a form. Emails are always unhelpful and just dismiss that they deal with the case (even though they do). At one point they even forwarded the case on under a completely different reference. It's like nobody at the court can be bothered to do their job so just say it's nothing to do with them. AWFUL court system.

Entrance is from Carey street. Staff is neutral, but surely can and will lost your files (bring many copies). Staff can keep you 30 minutes on the phone line, because there are many angry humans JUST LIKE YOU. Your case might be in unassigned list, but with some chance you'll get the judge. The hearing room is not so big, but bright and judge may wear just a suit, not the typical black court dress. Espresso is way cheaper than in nearby cafe-chains

Received paperwork, no phone number, tried this number, tried 6 others, tried the email addresses who replied to say they couldnt deal with it. going round in circles, my replies demonstraiting the claimant has falsified documents ignored. TOP JOB. Paperwork shows two different names oen address, dates 3 months apart, whats going on.

Sent my files to the wrong place up North in Salford and they then had to send it back to CLCC. Poor service. Huge waiting queues for phone. Inefficient. Really needs reform!! We are in 2019 not the bloody middle ages and pay enough tax and court fees to deserve a decent service. Come on PLEASE!

Can i score Zero or Negative Red Stars - CLCC are the worst i have experience for responding to emails (they don't), telephone call (if you get through) answers are worse than useless. I have escalated again and again with no proper response. The 0300 number asked me to call the Bailiff office direct, i have called them over 100 times, probably near 200 times, ring no answer or engaged every time. Should sack all the seniors and get some proper leadership in to sort out the mess they are in. Cannot be the staff, no one goes to work to do a bad job. Lack of proper leadership and management is resulting in staff losses, no surprise. Wake up Mr David Gauke and Susan.Acland-Hood and do you job or make room for someone else.

A thoroughly unpleasant experience. Brusque security and no clear signs. After a disorganised check in by staff with poor customer service skills , they even had difficulty with addressing people with their correct names, I had to wait with the claimant in a small cramped waiting area then was escorted to another waiting area outside the court still with the claimant. who proceeded to sit next to me. Had I been alone or of an anxious disposition I would have felt extremely uncomfortable and quite intimidated. It is unacceptable that this Court cannot organise itself more efficiently and take greater care of persons attending either as claimants or defendants.

After visiting the central London county court I can confirm that institutional racism do exist in our judicial system. You are in big trouble if you are non white as no one going to believe you and you be branded as un reliable witnesses. Apartheid do exist. Judges are free to do what ever they like as they can’t be held responsible for wrong doing. There has not been a single case in the country’s history when a judge has been removed from office for wrong doing. If a judge don’t like your looks then you are in big trouble here. Only God could save you. Appeal rights are there in civil cases but in 99% cases permission to appeal are refused. It is very funny as if you want to appeal, you have to ask for the judges permission to appeal which most likely is going to be rejected any way.

Great place to be. so long as you have a bodyguard to protect you. I was attacked when left court 53 in the Thomas Moor Building by the Defendants on the 29 August 2014. All the doors locked shut with just the three lifts subsequently no way to go to get away from the protagonists

Such an inefficient establishment. Took my money very quickly at application but have not issued a sealed order given the draft was provided already by the defendant. They have not answered any of my calls and believe me I've been very persistent. At one point I was on hold for 35mins with no success of getting through. It's a fiasco! Lack of response and lack of any service provision. How can this be allowed in 2018?

I would give a negative Star rating if it was possible. I have highlighted to the courts that I believe an offence of Perjury has been committed. I have provided factual information to support my claim and despite this NO ONE is interested. As with the other reviews I have drawn a blank with a phone system that no one answers, an email system that 'aims to reply within 5 working days'...laughable and a reception staff who bring a whole new meaning to 'coming up against a brickwall'. How can a court, a public body that is supposed to stand for justice behave with such flagrant disregard for justice itself. Disgraceful, shameful and undemocratic.

Absolutely useless service you don’t get your order or judgement until after your right to appeal has expired. One particular judge is bias towards certain communities. It’s one particular district judge Barry Lightman, I found him bias and very unreasonable.

I am not sure why the website bothers to display a telephone no. On my first attempt today I called for 14 minutes before my call was simply cut off. On my second attempt I rand for 22 minutes before I had to give up and rang off.

I would give a zero star if possible. Very bad court at handling correspondence. Forget calling the court as no one picks up and when they do they tell you to write to the court by email and or drop your letter, if not by post, in the box they have in the lobby. Actually no one responds to the letters put in that box or sent by email. I am still waiting for my letters sent by email and dropped in the box last year. More recently, I dropped a letter in that box in March 2015 and no one provided a response, but the court issued a court order on wrong facts as the court only goes by applications which are filed by the other party. So, forget informing the court of the other party court order breaches as the court will find that you breached the court order only to move forward the case. This is clear maladministration and sloppiness by the court and Judges who don't want to read anything if there is no fee paid. Every time you write to the court money must be attached so that someone responds. What happened to our legal system?

The new centralised enquiry system clearly doesn't work very well. Lodged a claim for a client back in March 2016. The cheque for the Court fee was duly cashed. Nothing happened after that - we don't even know if the case has been listed for hearing because nobody from the Court has notified us even though we're on the record as representatives, and our name is clearly shown on the application form!! We've called the Court's call centre (friendly but ultimately out of their depth) a number of times, petrified that we might have missed a hearing date because of the lack of any notification, but still they are unable to tell us what is going on. It's like a vacuum into which things simply disappear.

The woman I spoke to wasn't to bad. However, the other woman was bloody rude to people. I would like to know who these public servants think they are? I will be putting all the staff on Notice. As there is no justice in these and hasn't been since the 1200's. Well with the help of the Motu Propio that is about to change. All we want are these people to do their jobs.

The reviews on here are absolutely right: appalling customer services. First of all, the place is extremely difficult to find. Once you've found it, the signs and notices are "shouty" (e.g. written in capitals and in a tone that is disrespectful to the public). The staff are rude and unhelpful. The is a bizarre system of having to make a phone call in order to speak to someone, and the post box not only looks like a shredding bin but is hidden against a wall next to two other bins.

I work here and I am absolutely not shocked to read these comments. Yes it can be that bad, only it is'nt. You see the problem for the public is that they have zero knowledge of public adminstration, that is not an attack, far from it. In fact, if the members of public knew who to talk to and the right questions to ask, there would be none of this terrible experience (if of course you can through). It is quite bizzare to read some of the comments. As I do so, I automatically know what the solutions are, and who the complainant should have asked for or what number should have been dialled. If you have a simple query or are chasing matters then perhaps it is easier to call the 0300 number. I want to be able to assist everybody here with their problems and to demonstrate that, infact the court is accessible, and we, or at least I am very helpful indeed. There are some staff who are rude, but they have been weeded out after complaints. There is no room for staff of that calibre. I would leave a number here for the court so everybody who feels aggrieved can call me direct with all the problems. I will refrain from that because google may block this message. If I see here that there is a demand, as of this post, then I will attempt to address this.

I wouldnt give them any stars at all if it was possible. i also would give them minus. Apalling. lost for words with the sheer stupidity. ' Absolutely disgusted with the treatment from County court. The woman at the counter window is a power crazed pen pusher ...that's her space and she will rule it with the stupidity that is absolutely breathtakingly unbelievablè... .a lady saw me as I walked in she was helpful and booked me in with the woman behind the counter who agreed to give me an appointment as they had one left. so this first lady told me to sit in the waiting area. When the counter lady called me, (well growled at me and was scowling at me in menacing fashion), to her window counter I explained about the booking, which she had made with first lady and agreed to, they ďid it in front me , shé now told me I had to call the number on her window and book an appointment on the phone with her now....what....uh....huh...?basically call her on the phone book it with her and then.put the phone down ànd continue talking to her through the window....uh? "But we are tàlking now and you and your colleague have just agreed I can have the last available booking which is free ànď is for now"..."no! you have to call me by phone"...OmG??! So I wasn't allowed the booked appointment which her colleague and herself had booked, and was not allowed to borrow a pen to write the number down which she told me to call because Someone else came in so she shooed me away like a dog. I left in disbelief ..the joke is all i.needed was a witness for a signature...... so I ďiďnt get my signature from them as they were not capable of doing so. Come on what the hell are you employing....i am still in a state of disbelief..

i would give a zero if possible. handed in a first set of documents that were expensive to photocopy into the dropbox - was assured it would be looked at monday morning. they were all lost - it's lucky i didn't put originals in. i was told there was around a 50 day wait for processing, but it seems they have been permanently lost. i was told by an assistant near the dropbox and also checked with the main court, that the definite way to make sure the documents go through the system is to make an appointment to hand in the documents. so i spent a week calling their 'number for appointments' and eventually spoke to a manager 'sarah' who told me they never lose documents, i couldn't have an appointment as handing in documents is not on the list of accepted things to make appointments for and was told that people 'don't understand the system and that includes people who work for the court'. she said i could email the documents but if they were over 10 pages they wouldn't be printed. really very rude. whenever i've been in the area where the dropbox and counter is, i can hear the conversations behind the curtain and the conversations have been trivial - i don't understand how they can be paid to chat when there are customers standing around not being given any help at all. so after submitting 2 sets of documents and emailing forms, i called today and both the form and statements appear to have been now put on the system. however, the person said she could not tell me when any of them would be processed. usually when i've called, the phone rings and rings with the appointment line then the line goes dead - it took over a week of attempts for someone to answer. with the main court line today i got through after a short wait. i am now concerned that i can't do anything more but wait as my case has been delayed - coming up to a year now - and they don't know when the form and statements will be processed and it seems i am just to keep waiting, making an unpleasant situation even worse. when i've been to the thomas more building i've never seen the main reception desk staffed and there's no one to ask for help.

The Judge in my case at this court, in 2008, agreed with the barrister for the Defendant firm, that I was a vexatious litigant in person Claimant, and awarded costs against me, but today I found out the Defendant firm Partnership against whom I was claiming was itself struck off for malpractice and the partnership between the two female lawyers dissolved. Karma still works wonders thankfully, even if the court didnt get it right that time, and they lost much more :)

This place needs to have an efficient management system in place. There is NO satisfactory customers services in any of the departments ESPECIALLY for Litigants in Person. Yet for the public to have confidence in our judicial system RCJ and CLCC needs EXCELLENCE. I know the funding has been cut and even the Judges are having a hard time with the incompetences of L in P but as an organisation that is so crucial to the stability of this country they themselves need to sort it out - I don't think even in Bentley's car showroom there are so many top end cars as around the inns surrounding these courts. With so many L's in P we are noticing the affluent & class divide. I don't want to have the thought that you only get Justice when you have money to pay! Going on - just a sample of chaos - I was in the Customer Services desk of the Thomas Moore Building yesterday and BOTH the two people in front of me were voicing problems they were encountering with the systems and processes - telephoning; paying for applications; getting information. So that was 3 out of the 3 customers there. That office should be inundated with people getting satisfactory answers to their questions but even the office is so hidden. To top it all there are volunteers trying to help on the front dest - who don't even know the customer services is on the 1st floor of the TMB. It is no wonder we are incompetent when L in P are left to fend for themselves. Something needs to be done; our pride of a justice system can't be so inefficient as it will lead to thinking their rights are not being delivered and goodness knows where that will lead us.
