This is a relatively new institution in an older building.. The Middlesex Guildhall on Parliament Square. Sounds a little bit like an EU initiative?

My elderly father suffering from cancer and COPD was conned by a debt collector posing as a solicitor. I found the solicitor was fake but these people seem to think it is quite acceptable as long as the debt is collected, with an extra £500 for the canny debt collector. Passing yourself off as a solicitor is no longer a crime apparently. Weakening one law weakens them all.

Honestly, quite a boring visit as a tourist attraction inside, I wouldn't recommend, even though it's free. Maybe just have a look outside at it, the architecture is amazing on the other hand.

Assured and distinguished Edwardian construct decorated with ornate carvings, all in an outstanding state of repair, a showcase for early 20th.Century craftsmanship and mastery of technique. Guided tours, free displays, a cafe and trial attendance all within the realm of the possible. The buck stops here.

What a time to explore the Supreme Court of Justice! You can see the courtrooms, and reflect on the occasion, when eleven judges rather than the more usual five of the twelve Supreme Court Judges decided that Boris Johnson's decision was 'unlawful'. The building itself used to be the Guildhall for Middlesex County Council and there are a lot of references to this time, including an exhibition. The Supreme Court just celebrated its first ten years in this building. It is free to visit and has a cafe and gift shop and toilet facilities. The staff are very helpful and friendly! There is also an interview with Lady Hale on display. I might get a beautiful copy of the Magna Carta next time, which can be purchased in the cafe. One of the original manuscripts and reissue of the Magna Carta, which is on loan from Westminster Abbey, can be viewed for free in the exhibition hall in the basement.

Very interesting place to visit as part of English history. Well worth a visit. The Supreme Court is open to the public from 9.30am-4.30pm Monday to Friday and any member of the public can enter the building during these hours without booking in advance. A self-guided tour booklet is available for a small charge (£1)

Always interesting to see law in action or just the empty law venue. Airport style security to enter. Brain sapping heat in all the courtrooms, perhaps the justices could discuss how to reduce the UK state's estate vast contribution to global warming. Hint: turn the thermostats down a lot. Visited 11 May.

A truly awful experience filled with threatening accusations and moronic security staff. I popped in after seeing a sign for a free exhibition; i wanted to learn what the supreme does. I was greeted with a cruel stare and was immediately accosted by 3+ security guards without saying a word. After this confrontation, i immediately felt like i had done something wrong and wanted to leave. They didn't want me to leave so started forcing questions about what i was doing. I left immediately. A scary and despicable two minutes. I was dressed smart. I am an average guy. I hate to think how they would have treated a tourist or someone from a different ethnic background. Supreme court. Please remove the thugs at your front door.

Visit is totally free but provides great deal of information. When court is not sitting, you can evan sit down on the seats of supreme court judges. This place is glorious but also happy and humble as the Queen.

Small and unassuming, Britain's Supreme Court is rarely a spot for tourists despite being right next to the main "attractions" of Parliament Square. This only heightens its charm. The security staff are surprisingly friendly and helpful, the building itself is lovely and, it being a functional court, much more of it is available to see than usual for sights of its calibre. Despite its primary function, there is also plenty of space dedicated to visitors, such as an exhibition in the basement and a display on the top floor.

A combination of modern, accessible, visible justice, and historical tradition, this, the highest court in the country, is well worth observing. They choose to take on only cases with a significant point of interest, and pride themselves on being open and accessible. Very good wheelchair access - recommended.

Very nice front entrance and as for the rest I have no idea since I didn't go inside, because as a tourist why would I go into the supreme court if we have to be on time for our appointment at Buckingham palace. But me and my mum definitely stopped for a moment to get some pictures of the impressive front entrance.

The Supreme Court only in existence since 2006 approached this level of law from a modern mindset which allowed to create one of the most open systems and actual buildings in the world. A wonderful place to explore.

The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom is the supreme court in all matters under English and Welsh law, Northern Ireland law and Scottish civil law. It is the court of last resort and the highest appellate court in the United Kingdom, although the High Court of Justiciary remains the court of last resort for criminal law in Scotland. The Supreme Court also has jurisdiction to resolve disputes relating to devolution in the United Kingdom and concerning the legal powers of the three devolved governments (in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) or laws made by the devolved legislatures. The Supreme Court was established by Part 3 of the Constitutional Reform Act 2005 and started work on 1 October 2009. It assumed the judicial functions of the House of Lords, which had been exercised by the Lords of Appeal in Ordinary (commonly called "Law Lords"), the 12 judges appointed as members of the House of Lords to carry out its judicial business. Its jurisdiction over devolution matters had previously been exercised by the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. The United Kingdom has a doctrine of parliamentary sovereignty, so the Supreme Court is much more limited in its powers of judicial review than the constitutional or supreme courts of some other countries. It cannot overturn any primary legislation made by Parliament. However, it can overturn secondary legislation if, for example, that legislation is found to be ultra vires to the powers in primary legislation allowing it to be made. Further, under section 4 of the Human Rights Act 1998, the Supreme Court, like some other courts in the United Kingdom, may make a declaration of incompatibility, indicating that it believes that the legislation subject to the declaration is incompatible with one of the rights in the European Convention on Human Rights. Such a declaration can apply to primary or secondary legislation. The legislation is not overturned by the declaration, and neither Parliament nor the government is required to agree with any such declaration. However, if they do accept a declaration, ministers can exercise powers under section 10 of the act to amend the legislation by statutory instrument to remove the incompatibility or ask Parliament to amend the legislation. The current President of the Supreme Court is Baroness Hale of Richmond, and its Deputy President is Lord Mance.
