The embassy was relocated to this new building. Been there celebrating the 4 th of July. Fantastic to meet the US embassador Pete Hoekstra in person and to be around such important individuals and personalities. The building is very well designed with a green park and even a lake.

"I have never been so creeped out by a building. It looks like it came out of 1984." I have to agree with my wife. It looks as inviting as a maximum security prison, and the police were summoned when I tried to take a photograph of the US flag and emblem.
The Dutch police were great though!

I am an American citizen. When I called the embassy, a Dutch woman answered and instead of providing assistance, she completely did not understand my question. When I asked to speak to an American official, she hung up the phone. So, I called back, an American answered, and he assisted me. Per his instructions, I sent email. The reply was completely off-topic and did not answer my question at all. This morning, I will call back and see what happens. I have dealt with the American Embassy in Helsinki (really good service), the Finnish Consulate in New York (excellent service), the Japanese Consulate in Detroit (very good service), and the U.S. Passport Agency in Chicago (nice people). So, really, what is wrong with the U.S. Consulate in the Netherlands? Do they have Dutch people reading email who can't understand English or what? NOT RECOMMENDED: CALL ANOTHER CONSULATE IF YOU ARE AN AMERICAN CITIZEN!!!ä

Marine Security Guard from 1966 to 1968. Lived at 23 Soendastraat, Den Haag. Ambassador was William Tyler. Stood guard at Ambassadors residence when Vice President Hubert Humphrey visited. Had a bomb go off at back of library, ground floor. 5000 strong demonstration 2 days before VP arrived. Enjoyed working with Secret Service.

Asociale telefoniste, wat oudere mevrouw die haar naam niet wilde noemen en mijn simpele vraag niet kon beantwoorden. Onbeschoft was aan de telefoon en na twee keer bellen hing ze de telefoon gewoon op!
