I had issues where they were not paying the roght ammount to my bank. Nobody was helpful. I am posting this under a sudo name in the hopes they will start fixing all the issues they cause people. When they call me and have fixed my issue this will be edited.

Fundamentally have not looked back since I joined, fantastic service and very reliable in my experience. Was recommended to join by a friend who was aware of the way I was working with my former accountants and was able to apply a Brookson solution to overcome each of my challenges. The process of joining and understanding the way they work and why was very simple, the process of me adapting to a simplified system called Connect has been a challenge but fortunately Brookson have been exceptionally good in terms of supporting me through this. Aware that everyone has their own requirements and styles, but in my situation and for what I needed, Brookson have been excellent.

I started my first business with them and at first super helpful until you are enrolled... Utterly useless and completely unhelpful, I've incurred fines from hmrc and companies house and so much money stress you really don''t need. They are expensive and to finally close a business it also costs 600! find yourself a dedicated accountant who will actually know your records and is a lot cheaper.

For anybody who values there money, time and sanity find a different agency. The only thing Brookson has done for me is fill my inbox with spam. UPDATE My advice to anyone using this circus is to ask for your money back and then close your account. I managed to get some money back due to incredibly slow response times & general incompetence. I strongly advise that anyone in the same situation do the same.

If you’re starting your own company either find another company or research and do the work yourself. Poor experience with Brookson when setting up my Ltd company and accounts, and were meant to help with my tax filings. In the end they hardly lifted a finger and charged an extortionate fee in doing so. In hindsight there is very little value in handing over any money to this company, you’d be far better served to do some research and do the work yourself.

I’ve recently become self-employed and using Brookson so it’s all very new to me. Whilst I’ve experienced a couple of minor admin teething problems, service so far has been very good. In particular Jan Dempster has been excellent in helping me through the onboarding process.

I do not think I can speak highly enough of Brookson. Their service, efficiency and expertise is second to none. There have been times I have not understood something or not been sure how to go about certain procedures, only to find it has already been or is already in the process of being organised and completed by Brookson. They are an absolute asset to running my company and cannot imagine what I would do without them. Their online tools are fantastic and streamline everything. They are incredibly helpful over phone or via email. If you are a contractor or run a private limited company you must consider them, they are invaluable in more ways than one. A massive thanks to the team at Brookson for all your amazing support.

I have been with Brookson for nearly 2 years and feel like I am yet to receive much by way of any actual services. When you call the customer services team are very friendly however for £150 a month I might expect them to be proactive rather than wait for me to contact them and prompt them to do anything. On the phone today I was informed that my subscription also includes their financial advice service - a separate department in the company whose existence was never made known to me. I cringe at the thought of the amount of money I could have saved had this been pointed out to me in the beginning.

I wouldn’t recommend brookson to anyone. I would strongly advise to steer clear of them. They tell you what you want to hear to sign you up and get as much money out of you as possible. When I questioned why they hold told me one thing and then done another, they said that it wouldn’t affect me in anyway, but it severely did. Unless you want an accountant who doesn’t reply to your emails, shows a real interest in helping you until you’ve signed up and then don’t care, then I would not use them. I was advised against them and the information and support they showed me made me believe they were there to help, they aren’t at all and are just after your money.

I have been using Brookson now for around 4 months. I cannot fault the service I have recieved to date. All my queries have been handled with a level expertise and care that has exceeded my expectations. As a general consumer of goods and services from the internet I often rely heavily on reviews and dont make rash decision on any item I buy or invest in. I must admit I was a little hesitant to choose Brooksons as read some bad reviews but I am fully aware that people often only review to complain. When informally discussing my options with the advisors at brooksons I never felt pressured into making any decisions immediately and felt suitably assured with the options I had. Since being with brooksons every time I've had a query or quick question have simply picked up the phone and everything has been resolved quickly. I would be hesitant in recommending this service to a friend. At the very least they are worth a call to see if the service is right for you.

They did so bad work that I was almost to pay the tax they assumed I have to. To be avoided. Go anywhere else. It would be better.

I've had a similar experience to the others with 1 star. Brookson sent me a letter saying I'm overdue a payment to HMRC 5 days prior to the letter date! So their letter was just to say, you owed this much 5 days ago! What a joke. I then checked and my accounts haven't been filed and HMRC have issued a penalty! I pay these guys near £2k a year for doing all my own invoicing, book keeping, allocations, receipts etc and the one thing they had to do was file accounts. To top this off I was told that they prepare accounts 3 months in advance. Advance of what? I've been taken for a ride here and would like my money back as they've done nothing!!! Email marketing? I have done, why don't you speak to your customer services department as they still haven't got back to me. Still have not received information in order for me to complete my own accounts or appoint someone else. They have been told officially to terminate, waiting now an extra week, only to still get a message saying we are collating the information. Funny, since you said we are ready to complete and file your accounts with the exception of a receipt - any accountant worth their salt knows that this could have been done as an amendment an a draft set of accounts produced. Even after receiving an email of regret for termination, I'm being asked for a receipt by an accounts assistant. Is this some kind of a sick justification for not doing my accounts all year and filing them late? You want me to get further fines and also want my liability to increase? I have terminated our agreement. You asked me change my business premises - I have. What have you done for me all year round? From my perspective you have done my accounts without any consideration of my business needs or improvements, as you would have asked me crucial questions relating to travel and accommodation! You simply copy/paste accounts and get trainees to do the work without any real benefit or gain to the end client. I simply want everything to be as it was before Brooksons - the worst business decision I have made. Also, to anyone reading do not give these guys view access as when you leave them, they don't remove the access and it should be their responsibility. That is if you are still foolish enough to go with these guys!

Just changed to a new accountant previously with Brookson 2 months on still waiting for them to send my account information to my new accountant. Called the customer service team over 6 times and was promised that the process would be done but they just fob you off. As previous reviews suggest the customer service team are really friendly and good at making false promises. Stay away and save £174.00 a month charges complete joke.

I was completely lost with all the paperwork and what needed to be done. Brookson were amazing, making the whole process very simple and leaving me to be able to concentrate on work. The dashboard system makes it extremely simple to keep track of everything and this reduces the time spent on paperwork. Could not have asked for a better service and would highly recommend Brookson to anyone starting out or even established in business but drowning in paperwork.

I had a terrible experience with Brookson: - No account management - Extremely junior team with little working experience and bad attitude - Every time I requested something a bit different and followed-up, I had to explain like it was the first time. There was nobody managing the request. - They don't understand how HMRC work - Once I requested a document with a signature and they simply did not know how to do it - Couple of times my dashboard that controls money I could transfer to my personal account was wrong. - I paid more taxes than I should have paid - They asked me to pay 2x taxes of 9K pounds. They are really not well organized.

Just a nightmare Two years in a row they filed my accounts late causing me awful stress. Brookson charge £1,872 a year and provide very little in return. They use an automated system to prepare the accounts rather than giving you any sort of personal service. The staff who answer the phones are polite but are not accountants, so there is little they can do to help. Very difficult to talk to the accountants. They made so many mistakes with my "bookkeeping" it just became a joke so I sacked them. I'm still clearing up the mess they made. Just avoid these jokers. Update... The issue of Brookson filing my accounts late for the past two years became an issue again on the last time they will be filing my accounts. Brookson have tried to claim back from me the £400 in penalties and it's become a stressful fight with them. At least our phone conversations were recorded so Brookson had to eventually admit they were responsible for the penalty. Further update. HMRC contacted me this month to inform me that the accounts Brookson filed two year ago were incorrect and invalid. HMRC had told Brookson this but they hadn't corrected them. Another £200 penalty. I contacted Brookson and they advised that because I am no longer their client they refuse to rectify their mistake. It took another argument with them and two weeks of chasing Brookson before they admitted their mistake and put it right. Using Brookson as my accountants has been expensive, stressful, time-consuming and frustrating. Over the years I've spent hours on the phone arguing with them just to get them to do their job and put right the numerous, repeated and serious mistakes they have made. Brookson has caused me so much stress and trouble it has negatively impacted on my health.

Completely incompetent. They consistently made mistakes throughout the year I used them. They advertise themselves as an easy solution to running a limited company with the minimum amount of input from yourself but the reality is just not so. The main problem is when you ring them you get through to a call centre where the staff are NOT accountants and therefore appear to have no idea what they are talking about, on top of this the call centre staff give you a different answer every single time you ring with a question. There are actually only about 5 real accountants and they are never free for you to talk to. When I decided enough was enough and wanted to close down my business they turned round and told me that it was a £500 charge! They were already obliged to do my end of year accounts as this was included in the £150 charge so the £500 was just made up, they just kept saying it was for the "admin". Funnily enough I decide not to pay this and went to a real accountant who was appalled at this charge and said they were blatantly ripping people off. There is actually a very small amount of work that goes into closing a company down once end of year accounts are done. In summary you will pay considerably more than you would with a high street accountancy firm. Trust me there is not one single advantage to using this firm, do yourself a favour and use a accountancy firm where you can walk in and talk to an actual person, get proper advice and save yourself some money.

Terrible service, very dodgy. Will charge you even if you're not working and won't explain anything to you if it's your first company. You will incur fines and have issues with HMRC and in generally causes you a lot of stress for the little work they do. I would advise going with any other umbrella company as you'll have nothing but a bad experience with this company.

I would award zero stars if it were possible. Appalling experience with the company. The first couple of months all feel rosy and simple, until it comes to any queries or account filings. They seem to employ a "front of house" service whereby you speak to advisors who provide advice when you have questions. They are polite and friendly, however on several occasions, i have received conflicting advice which has then required multiple follow up calls to clarify a firm position. I never once managed to speak with a dedicated accountant. Emails go through a consolidated email address, to be picked up by one of a team of advisers and you can speak to a person on the phone, email them supporting documentation and have somebody else respond a couple of days or weeks later, completely misunderstanding the initial query in the first place. Upon requesting I terminate their services, my accountant and I had to chase them continually for over a month and we still haven't received a single handover document. I am now lodging complaints with regulatory bodies and preparing for legal action to cover any fines incurred as a result of their delaying tactics.

Service was reasonably ok until it came to closing my accounts. It's taken 6 months and a lot of money to do so. Then I find out there's been a delay because I owe HMRC almost £7000! Someone or the the system messed up so I was refunded VAT incorrectly. Why do I pay so much for an accountant that cannot do the simple job I pay them to do. Very frustrating and not taking any accountability. Would recommend just finding a small accounting firm or someone solo to give a professional and personalised service. Very disappointing.

As a small business, over 4 years I have found Brookson to be very helpful and knowledgable concerning the business side of contracting. Their Web interface 'Connect' is excellent and makes it very easy to manage your companies business transactions. The service may cost a bit more than some others, but it provides excellent service compared with using other accountancy firms who are usually more interested in serving their larger clients.

I was with Brookson several years ago and they were great. Always quick to answer the phone and good online. Not so good this time around. Takes ages to answer phone, message tells me office shut on a Saturday but website says they are open. Connect 3 could be good but isn't. They have always been expensive but did at one time seem better value for money.

Awful service. Recommended Cashplus as a Business Banking Provider who proceeded to lose thousands of pounds to fraud. Losses from other bank accounts targeted in the same fraud were indemnified in full. Cashplus did nothing to protect my account and a year later the complaint - which is now with the Financial Ombudsman Service - rumbles on. Brookson quickly tried to distance themselves from recommending such an awful service, yet continue to do so to new customers, despite Cashplus having some obvious and serious systemic issues. After moving away to a new accountants to manage my business affairs, I have subsequently realised what a mess Brookson made of managing my limited company - inefficient set up, wrong class of shares allocated to another shareholder, and yet despite their incompetence, they are comparatively expensive. There is a good reason experienced contractors do not use Brookson - one to avoid.

If you need to sort mess they have created they dont like it and grumble on top of that tgey bombard you with promo emails so you bring more customers in ...just awful ,avoid. We signed up to these recently, complete waste of time. Payroll wasn't processed, our VAT return wasn't even looked at and they decided to tell us 3 days before it's due. No apology, no attempt at sorting it out and overall the experience was just unprofessional. Wouldn't recommend unfortunately.

They took over from 1st Option. Disappointed with service. I have had to chase them to arrange appointments for going through the new online portal. They have missed two pre-arranged appointments. They also do not action what they say they will. Examples: Failure to issue new portal login details as promised; failure to honour arranged meetings; failure to call back when advised they will do so. AMENDMENT: Brookson responded. Honoured appointment and helped me through portal so amended review. Awaiting update of portal with First Option information. Hopefully a good transition. Will update review pending outcome

I strongly advise anyone to avoid this company and use a reputable local chartered accountant instead. Using Brookson was one of worst (if not the worst) experiences I have had in my life of dealing with a company. My accounts were constantly done wrong and given to me very late on in the filling period. This caused me massive amounts of stress. I lost account of the number of phone calls I had to make to get things resolved. A shockingly bad company that I am extremely glad to have left.

Yes they sell the product which sounds great. I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole... Every time you ring up u get a different answer so you don't know what is going on half the time (the call centre staff are pleasant enough tho). It takes approx. 5 working days for them to respond to questions asked. The system Connect isn't user friendly and I also wondered what they get their money for. Absolutely useless had me in tears with all the stress frustration and anxiety they invoked. The fees to close a company down ... Quoted £500 and told because it's a complex process! Erm it's no more than £13 if you go to Companies House! Never want to see or hear from this bunch of sharlatons again. Getting myself a decent accountant! They only got a star because some of the women call centre staff were pleasant. Otherwise they would get a minus rating. Stay away!
