Jade O'Brien my business on-boarding partner has particularly been a pleasure to communicate with she is reliable, genuine and friendly and knows what she is doing. Every interaction I have had with other Brookson staff also show that they have a strong and competent team that cares. Brookson treat their clients beautifully and are true leaders in their realm. Been with them since December 2017. I am pretty sure they don’t have a clue what they’re doing. Not all of them but most I think. The Brookson Connect portal is ok but os not up to date. Late replying to emails, robotic answers, they ask for a lot of money for different things. To shut down my company they ask last year 300. Now they told me I have to pay 800. You need to call them always. They don’t even bother to check up on you, you ending pay the service for absolutely nothing and is a lot. Avoid Brokson. Maybe with others was ok , for me was hard time.

Earlier this year I was researching Umbrella companies and Brookson was one of them, theis agent D. Barriteau did tell me that I have to share picture of my passport in order to get quote. So I did that, I had better offer elsewhere and did not use Brookson services. Recently I have been getting emails that i haven't send any time sheets to them. That the are going to make P45 for me. Nobody replied to my emails. What a scam. I have never ever sign anything with this company. The practices I have been exposed to are from the bottom of the low. After many months and repeated requests to stop contacting me I'm still receaving unwanted emails, I have never registered with this company, it seams that they do what ever they want.

Approach with absolute caution! Ive been with Brookson for a couple of years now and Im afraid to say its been a nightmare journey of mistakes and slip ups and had I not have had my accounting so wrapped up with them and it being hard to shift I would have done so already. Despite some of the call centre staff being courteous the back end team are absolutely dire & I would not recommend them at all as a safe sound provider for a small business/ contractor. On so many fronts this model just doesn't work and the mistakes that have been made have been way too many and too serious. Incorrect tax figures being reported, continuous loss of information/ sensitive passwords and data, cancellation of my tax direct debits without my consent/ knowledge..the list goes on and on. Youve been warned. Approach these guys with your eyes open!

I have been a customer of Brookson's since early 2013 and never had any particular issues that could not be easily resolved by the lovely team there - however during the Covid-19 period, it has been almost impossible to contact anyone at all, particularly when it is about very important matters which are being completely ignored. The text service repeatedly states that someone will call you back, the phone lines are effectively dead, and no-one replies to emails. I understand that all the staff are working from home, but it seems that no-one wants to take any responsibility for anything at all, and it is impossible to speak to a single person. This is a difficult time for everyone, and many of us are having to deal with significant increases in workloads and/or complications in our businesses, and we really do need the support of the company we are paying for a service from. Please can you take action to resolve this issue as it's been the same for the past 10-weeks now, and I urgently need to speak with someone, anyone, in this company to resolve some serious issues I am having.

New to working with Brookson One as it's my first contract role. Daniel Morgan is my adviser and has been really friendly and helpful for anything that I've needed. Always available if i need him. Everyone else I've interacted with has been great and knowledgeable. Especially a guy called Damien. The service itself is really easy for the management of the business. No complaints thus far.

1. Brookson are incredibly slow to reply to queries (every email reply takes a minimum of 2-3 days), and no this is not due to Covid-19, it's been that way for years. 2. When you ask for advice on anything other than the most menial of accounting tasks, they are even slower to reply (you'll be left waiting weeks) and their responses are often incorrect and don't answer your question. It gets to the point where you ask your colleagues to ask their accountants instead. 3. They are very expensive. Their MVL fee is over double that of another big accountant (Paystream) 4. They don't offer any practical advice to manage your company finances in a more efficient way. If you don't know the ins and outs of accounting before you start with them, you wont learn anymore. Must be a lot of 'paid for reviews' on here, because there is no way people can be happy with the service they offer, at the premium price they charge.

Nice slick looking web portal but expensive compared to my previous accountant and missed a PAYE return to HMRC last year which I had to get resolved. When I needed to close a company down they wanted to charge over double the quotes I had from local accountants even though I've paid hundreds of pounds in fees for already whilst the company has just been sat in a dormant non-trading state. Each individual I spoke to was however very helpful and professional but at the end of the day I've been charged a premium and I can't see there was any benefit was versus using a smaller much cheaper firm.

I've been with Brookson since Jan 2020 and they've been very helpful and responsive right from the start. I've found their portal 'Connect' to be very handy one-stop shop for everything related to your account with them. Even during the Covid-19 pandemic, they have their agents working via email and phone to handle queries and tasks. Recently, there was a small error that occured but Jade O'Brien has been very swift in follow-up and response to get this corrected. Highly recommend her. Thank you, Jade!

All of the 5 star reviews are made by employees if the company. This accountancy service is the most expensive, and least helpful available. They do the minimum work, and charge a premium fee. My colleagues pay less than half of the monthly fee for much better service, I would recommend a smaller or independent accountant.

I have been working with Brookson for just over two months now. My direct contact is Gillian Donnelly and I have scheduled biweekly calls with her just to guide me through initial setup of my limited company. Gillian is extremely helpful with all my queries, quickly replies to the emails. Whenever something is missing I get a quick reminder from her and things usually get resolved within day or two. Keep in mind I am a very busy person, director of a limited company, father of three kids, work full time as a software developer. Gillian after each call sends me a long email with all "to do" points for the next few weeks. I find it very helpful, lets me go bit by bit and resolve any outstanding issues. Well done Brookson! Edit: This review was encouraged by Brookson One. Be prepared for a 4-5 days waiting time when you ask a question. Do not recommend them at all for this price they charge (over 170 quid a month for ONE invoice processing)

I find the accountancy services and the on-boarding process very professional and excellent. I had used several accountants previously and none compares to the personalized service that Brookson One offers. Even during the CoVID-19 pandemic the accountants are still working hard to assist the freelancers and contractors who are affected. My on-boarding advisor is Steven Rouke which I found a delight to work with.

Business Advisory Team - Great work by Steven Rouke. I joined Brookson at the end of February under the umbrella plus option, this was after being very impressed with the onboarding team, but sadly the good customer services stopped there. I was advised that someone from a 'dedicated team' would contact me to discuss the benefits and invoicing process as soon as I join, but I'm now 6 weeks down the line and still waiting. I contacted customer services at the start of March to discuss how invoicing would work and I was advised I didn't need to complete an invoice and that Brookson would do this on my behalf and contact my agency. I was also advised that I would be contacted by someone from the 'dedicated team', but as I expected I've still not heard from anyone. I decided to double check the invoicing process last week before month end, but due to CVD19 no one is answering calls and there's a voicemail asking you to email and someone will get back to you. I have now submitted a number of emails and also submitted a message on their connect site and had no response. My agency have advised me that Brookson haven't submitted an invoice and they also can't get in touch with them, so as it stands I won't be getting paid this month. I'm paying £32.50 per week, more than double some umbrella companies for no service at all. I'll be leaving Brookson and moving to another Umbrella company as soon as I can actually get in touch with someone, who knows when that will be.

I've only been with Brookson for a few months now and I can categorically say they do not and will not provide a service that corresponds with their fees. They are slow to reply to messages and rarely return calls. Payments have been inconsistent at best and sometimes incorrect. If you are thnking about using their services, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere.

I was surprised to see so many low star ratings. I have been with Brookson just over a month and so far been very impressed with all that they done. Their online platform is easy to use once you get familiar with it and help is always at hand. I can only conclude that they have stepped up their service since the low star ratings from others. For me, being new to contracting, it was essential to get the right guidance to help me get set up quickly and effectively, which Brookson have done very well. Nothing but praise at this stage.

Terrible customer service and they did a horrendous job at being an accountant. I have been with Brookson for over a year and throughout this period they made numerous glaring errors in their filings for me. I was given completely incorrect financial advice because they did not take down any of my joining details correctly. This issue persisted for the entire year in spite of Brookson being made aware of it. After a long drawn out complaint process involving them constantly getting my information wrong, ignoring me and refusing to respond to direct question. Eventually it was resolved and they promised to fix all the issues. Unfortunately they simply did not do that. The errors were not fixed, the system not correctly updated and many documents remained wrong. The only reason I did not hugely overpay my tax contributions was due to my own vigilance. Had I taken their advice I would have been in a difficult and unnecessary situation. This unfortunately is one of only a small number of issues I experienced. During my complaint and in defense of their own performance they listed 21 systems which worked well for me during my time with them. 10 of these however either failed or did work up to an acceptable standard. When I escalated the complaint and queried about this I got a response which ignored every concern I raised.

I have been with brooksons since 2014 and they have driven me round the bend as they make so many errors and fail to follow through on their undertakings. I stopped claiming some legitimate expenses because of their systems. I wisely decided to not let them near my personal tax as my company accounts are invariably wrong. Working with brooksons is more challenging than any of my business activities.

I have been using Brookson for about 10 weeks now. I recently setup my own Limited company and was initially overwhelmed with what needed completing and how to operate the business. Steven from the on-boarding team was key to helping me understand what needed to be done and how things worked. We had a number of pre-booked appointments where we would go through the dashboard and my responsibilities in detail, even outside of these slots Steven would respond to any emails and always made himself available. Would definitely recommend Brookson for your accounting needs, the on-boarding process is thorough, helpful and allays any fears you may have.

Horrible service on all levels. I quit after a month. During that month I detected the following issues with their business practices 1. They never respond to questions, just copy-paste a manual. We are several contractors who use them and we all got the same copy-pasted responses. Even so, it often took them about a week to respond. 2. When asking how to fill in timesheets, or if we had to, they didn't respond. By asking others who had been with them for a while we finally figured it out ourselves. 3. When payment was due, those using other umbrella companies got paid while those of us with Brookson did not. Brookson told us they would investigate and remediate but never did. Still have not seen any funds so will escalate tomorrow. UPDATE After reading this review Brookson sent me a text message from their "Payroll service". They made it sound like a general notification that payments were to be made. When I asked my colleagues, none of them had received a similar text - so the text went only out to me despite the pay being equally late to all of us - simply because of this review. Nevertheless, the payment did not arrive by the time they promised today either. CONCLUSION I think they are going bankrupt and delaying payments to collect more funds from contractors before they sue for bankruptcy. Tomorrow morning I will fill an FSCA complaint. For your own good, stay away from this company. EDIT: I have uploaded the text I was sent, plus added a picture showing the email address used by Brookson One to respond to complaints actually does not exist.

Overall my experience with Brookson was great My contact Steve Rouke was professional and he was easy to deal with. After over 40 years as a PAYE you can imagine how daunting it would be for me going into contract work. It was good to know that I had Steve’s help in understanding the issues with Tax and he answered all my questions efficiently.
