Use at your peril. I was taken in by how easy and cheap it is to initially set up a limited company through Brookson but unless you know enough about accounting do your own books do not use this company. Impossible to get hold of anyone with any accounting knowledge, their money manager is flat out wrong allowing you to make some serious errors in your tax planning. Still trying to unpick the mess left behind by having used Brookson for two years. Do not take a risk with your taxes and use a proper accountant to set up your limited company if you want piece of mind

I decided to check my accountants work then i spotted £10k worth of missing transactions. Brookson is a joke, some of the staff dont know what they are doing when it comes to transaction management on ones account and there is Zero attention to detail or checking of their own work. I will be looking for Financial services elsewhere, and i suggest you do also. The FSA need to audit this group.

I was a customer with Brookson for almost a year, and now I can say that Brookson have been the slowest, most expensive and least helpful business I have had to work with. From the start there were issues with payroll and creating my LTD company (they spelt my name wrong to HMRC and that then went to everyone) and after much debate they agreed it was their fault and they changed it. Then months went by and they continued to not update my online money tracker. You have to really push them to do what you want them to do, even though the whole point of them is to make your life easier to concentrate on your work. So even as my contract was ended due to covid 19, they refuse to help me in anyway. I can not say this enough, please avoid brookson as much as possible. They will do the least amount of work possible, the most expensive price.

Lying and mislead over services included. This company is a totally nightmare for small business and people that are trying to use LTD hoping that they can get more than PAYE. After 24 months paying £174/month and having only one invoice to be issue per week, when I wanted to close my LTD they are asking for £834 more. I reminded them that from the beginning I ask for all the taxes that I have to pay from starting to the end of a company and they kept lying that I only have to pay my every month fee. After I reminded them that I talked with account manager Jay Anderson from Brookson and the agent Sean Crosbie from DetailJobs and both of them tried and convinced me to sign for a LTD instead a PAYE how was easier they come back with the next answer saying that they do not discuss about closure even if I asked many times by phone calls: "Please be advised that we do not discuss the closure process when setting up a limited company, as the focus is on your beginning your new venture. We do discuss all of the taxes that you will incur, and your responsibilities as director of a company. The cessation fee is not a tax but you paying for a service that we are offering. If you do not wish to use that service, then you are completely within your rights to seek the assistance of another accountant to close your company." After all this they keep lying and claiming that "cessation fee is not a tax" but a service that they hide from you. From the first callings with them includes Jay Andersons and other "Business Advisors" from Brookson they never mention about this taxes and now he is not replying to may calls or mails. And if you can imagine just because I wasn't aware of their intentions and lying, I got other people to sign with them. All this situation is generated by people who do not take responsibility of their words and acts. So they basically agree that they are lying all their clients with from the beginning just to sign with them and after that they come and start to add any fees on top like nothing happened? I asked from the beginning for any fees that are from the starting to the end of creating a LTD and they just keep lying me from first day? I am a honest and trusted client that came with right and good intention to do business with you and instead of that you just take advantage of me being gullible and got me in a trap. Please find attached the answer the clients receive when they ask about termination fees.

I absolutely would not recommend. Very difficult to get hold of anyone/the right person. I was only with them for 5 weeks. They paid me late, despite ensuring me I would be paid on time when I checked. Also, watch out for explanations on costs they take. I was only explicitly made aware of the £25/week admin cost but actually they pass on all employer costs which is a lot more than you realise. I've never used an umbrella company before and most likely won't again but I wouldn't ever recommend using Brookson One.

I made a previous review about Brookson's explaining how terrible they had been as my accountant. I thought it was worth clarifying that on further discussion with them and after a number of promises to address my concerns they still outright refuse to do so. I was asked to clearly lay out my concerns in an email so they could be addressed. Every concern I raised was once again completely ignored and once again the personal assurances maybe by my complaint handler were stone walled and ignored. They appear to have simply lied to me about wishing to address my concerns. I would never recommend anyone use Brookson. They simply do not care about their customers.

My on-boarding partner, Gillian Donnelly, has been wonderful. She patiently explained everything to me and always came back with answers to my queries. She provides first class service! However, I have spoken to other members in Brookson and a few of them were less than patient. It was a little disappointing.

Advance warning - a fairly gushy and almost too authentic review lies ahead - Brookson’s were recommended to me as I made a nervous transition to the freelance world back in September 2019 and looking back, without them, everything would have been a catastrophic mess. They are helpful, communicative, patient, attentive and ever professional. They do absolutely everything for me so I don’t have to, whilst ensuring I’m completely aware of their movements and patiently educating me, an utter novice, on the unfamiliar language of accounting. They took control of the complicated establishment of my business quickly and painlessly, so bloody appreciated as I was overwhelmed by the process. The online tool is unparalleled, I don’t know any other company that offers such a slick digital offering and I listen with such sympathy as my peers struggle with old fashioned inferior ways of their accountants. Everything is completely taken care of for me, it makes my life infinitely easier. Major credit to my main guy, Keith Dooley, who checked in with me fortnightly for the first 6 months! Without wanting to be overly hyperbolic, I would be lost without him. Most importantly he’s just a bloody nice guy, I’m so pleased he was assigned to me from Day One. An actual pleasure working with him, thank you Keith for always being so responsive and helpful, and cheerful and for your reassurance and guidance most recently navigating the unfamiliar territory we’ve found ourselves in during the pandemic. Im not sure of the going rates amongst accountants for my field and where Brookson’s lies on that scale, but I am confident that my monthly fee is hard earned. Anyone joining Brookson’s, which you should, like everyone else I’ve recommended, definitely ask for Keith!

Unfortunately I am unable to award 0 starts, ever since Brookson took over my life has started to turn into some sort of a Kafka novel. In the past 6 months they weren't even able to establish what had to be done, the manager escalation is useless and don't bother to book an appointment with an accountant he will not show up. The only people that are actually helpful and doing their best are the receptionist (thank you Nina) unfortunately they do not deal with financial situations.

1 star is about 2 more than i would like to give. i left brookson around a year ago as their customer service was probably the worst i've seen, absolutely shocking. A friend i know is currently going through the process of trying to close his business with them. Hearing him moan about their service has reminded me of how frustrated i was with them, so much so that i felt the need to write a review ( which i never do). stay well clear, not sure i would trust the 5 star reviews.

Absolute joke of a company!. If it's accurate accounts and guidelines on what you need to pay..i.e accountant services..do not use these. So one example (I can provide more) I tell them I'm a student.. how much should I pay then? They ask me every year and say I tell them I'm not a student, but cannot provide the proof from the data..even though they already know but blame me?. What benefit is that to me? lol. Honestly past complaining now..would rather warn others of your shocking services. If your reading this make them your last resort, consider even doing it yourself...that bad. Avoid at all costs, had nothing but trouble with them. I'm using a new accountant who can't believe how brooksons have processed my books. Put through illegal dividends, submitted director fee's while the business wasn't trading amongst a host of other things. Paid £150+vat for them to correct their own mistake with HMRC, only to find out that nothing has been corrected. With regards, to your reply - I'd happily do that if the Domain you gave was existing.

I've had such a poor experience with Brookson!! I'm constantly having to phone them asking why they've miscalculated my tax and expenses. Its really not worth the hassle. I noticed that another reviewer pointed out that a lot of the reviews on here are fake and after doing a bit of my own research i've come to the conclusion that is very much the case!!! The majority of the positive reviews come from employees of the company and its easy to find them on linkedin... which says a lot about the company!! Callum Ashton, Laura Hull-Lomax, Terence Craven, Lorna Renton, Adam Bibby... i could go on!!!! Fake!

I just starting using Brookson and I have received a fantastic service so far. Louise Gent has been helping/advising me so far and I can’t commend her enough! She is the friendliest person and answers all of my ‘dumb’ questions in a super professional way. I am a massive fan of Brooksons online connect page which lays out all of your money and breaks down your tax/expenses etc. Their invoicing app is also great, hopefully they can turn Connect into an app for convenience in the future.

Don't go with this company. They don't answer you queries and ignore your questions. I totally feel being abandoned. They even raise the wrong invoices without your original invoice number. This company should be closed for business, as they don't provide satisfied accounting service.

This company isn’t even worth one star! In the last 5 weeks I have been paid 4 days late on 4 occasions meaning bills didn’t get paid and I gained extra charges and the other occasion I got paid less than half of my weeks wage. As a company that deals with finance I would recommend people stay far away from this company as I have been told I’m not the only one with messed up payments

So far I have been really impressed with the service I have received from Brookson One. Every person I have dealt with have been friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. They have made the setting up of a limited company painless and easy and I would recommend them hands down. For my onboarding, I was assigned Steve Rouke as my Business Advisor. He was extremely helpful, friendly, and most importantly patient with my list of questions as I was getting to grips with the accounting system.

Was good until I became unable to login to Connect last year as the login page fails to load and so unable to view or complete self assessment or anything else. £150.00 per month is steep compared to other firms out there. The lack of help / communication from anyone at Brookson who knows what they are doing when things stop working is the most disappointing aspect . I have 2 days and counting to submit my S/A and do not even get the login page when I click on connect. Plenty of calls and emails back and forth have been had. I'm thinking lets not carry on like this.

During this second spell with Brookson I have noticed further improvements with their organization especially with respect to customer relations eg onboarding, Ltd Co set up, arranging requisite professional insurance, dealing with HMRC on my company's behalf, developing my business account....and more. My current point-of-contact Matthew Ryan has provided first rate support in recent weeks.

Jade O'Brian from the on-boarding team was key to helping me understand what needed to be done and how things worked, which was explained to me in a number of pre-booked appointments. Very expensive compared to other accountants You have to book an appointment to speak to your accountant, typical wait 7days Some of the work completed by Brookson had numerical errors, which would have been very expensive if I had not found them, you have to become an accountant yourself as you need to review everything! Very interested to see the 5 star reviews and that most are within the two month honeymoon period, i ask you to update your review after 6 months and tell me you are still happy. Everytime you call, a different person seems to answer and dont get me wrong the customer service team are incredibly nice and helpful, the issue is they cant actually do anything related to your accounts as they're not accountants! everything has to be referred, this is where the issues start. Good luck in getting a reply without chasing numerous times.

First rate service from start to finish. They're extremely proactive and get on top of things very early on. They provide an onboarding representative who keeps in constant contact for the initial stages to ensure that the system is fully understood (e.g. tax, expenses, invoicing, allowances etc.) and there are no grey areas. Any enquiries I've made have been dealt with promptly, efficiently, and accurately. Excellent experience so far.

I suggest avoiding this company like the plague. My husband used them for his business after having a positive experience with them as an umbrella company. However, the moment he set up his company and started using them, their service went to pot. He will be writing a full review in due course, but they don't respond to emails in a timely manner (5 working day turn around time), and when you finally get a response, the figures are inaccurate, and your questions go unanswered. They got my tax code wrong despite being given it twice, and calculated my salary incorrectly. You then have to wait another 5 days for them to respond to the email relating to the areas they have messed up on, and at no point do they apologise. A number of the reviews on here are by staff or appear to have been orchestrated.

Terrible. I've been with Brooksons 6 months now and my year end accounts were wrong, Vat return wrong and submitted late and Self Assessment wrong. I have no confidence in this company and need to check everything they do. If I can offer any advice don't sign up, if you scratch below the glossy sales pitch, the service is slow and incompetant.

Brookson has drained every bit of energy from me so I cannot be bothered to write a real review but all I will say is a share the same opinion of every other 1 star review. Been with them 2 years and everything has been a nightmare. I would very, very, very, very strongly advise people not to use this company and find yourself a real accountant that know what they are doing. Utterly poor service, the only positive thing I can say is the "call centre" staff which dont have any financial training what so ever are relatively polite. STAY AWAY

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Brookson now operates like a call centre, run by 17 years olds who pass you around until you give up! They will get things wrong, get your tax codes wrong, delay any mortgage applications you make, ignore your requests - SERIOUSLY! AVOID!! I'm leaving, as soon as they decide to share my details with my new accountant - so not any time soon because they like to make it as difficult as possible. GET A PERSONAL ACCOUNTANT. They have cost me a fortune in time and money and anger.

I'm a noob contractor, and Brookson helped me set up my limited company. It's all been very new to me expenses, corporation tax, personal tax etc, scary stuff! Louise (Gent) has been my onboarding partner, although I prefer to think of her as my personal economic Shirpa guiding me through the mountainous terrain of accountancy!! She is so upbeat and friendly no matter how many times I call, or many questions I spam her with!! It's quite daunting moving from being a regular salaried employee to a limited company and Louise has been simply fantastic. She is very knowledgable and I have learned so much from her! I am relatively new at Brookson, but if Louise is anything to go by, then in my books they deserve six stars out of five!!
