The machines are a great idea but you have to make sure they work. Croydon machine took my foreign notes absolutely fine but didn't even register coins and didn't return a single one. Nearly £60 worth of coins gone. Spoke to help and they didn't even ask my name or machine number. Not very good in my eyes at all.

I've used these before with no problem, both here and Oxford Circus. Quick, simple and easy, just remember there can be a queue if its busy :)

Machine rejected all of my euro coins. Had 40 euros worth but wouldn't accept any of them. Tried to call customer services number but just a recorded message so you can't talk to anyone. Went to NM Money instead which was in the same shopping center (lewisham). Better exchange rate but would only take the one and 2 euro coins.

I used one of these machines before and it is a smart and simple kiosk. Highly recommended if you want to get rid of change from different country currencies.

Used the one at the service station of the M42 J2. The machine was very easy to use... some rejected coins had to go through a couple of times and a handful of historic very low value ones were rejected. Some of the exchange rates okay... some not so... but this was for coins that have been kicking around in a bag in my car for some time.... accepted everything from the obvious to the more obscure like the Serbian Dinar. Yes you will get a better rate for notes elsewhere, but for coins that would otherwise collect dust... it's good.

Bought my Moroccan Dirhams through Fourex, my first time ordering currency online and was pleasantly surprised. Competitive rate and the currency arrived on time without any hassle.

Do not use this machine. I paid in my foreign coins and it exchanged me with less than half of the total amount I was due. It may have run out of sterling pound note currency. When you ring the number on the machine no one picks up.

DO NOT USE THIS MACHINE. It takes your money and doesn't register that you've put anything in. We were wary of using it so only put €14 euros in coins in to test it out. Nothing too taxing you would think. It ate the lot then just carried on asking us to 'enter more coins'. As there's no other option on the screen to move forward in the transaction we pressed 'back' which then reset the machine and transaction losing the whole lot. Badly designed machine and UI. A complete scam which favours FourEx and nobody else.

Garbage rates for some currencies. Effectively halved the value of 5 Swiss Francs, no idea how you can argue that's a fair trade. Also fairly sure many of my coins went in, weren't rejected, but also weren't added to the final value.

Machine at Churchill Square in Brighton doesn't work, it ether just rejects coins or swallows them and gives nothing back. Support line is no help at all as no one answers the phone.

I went to the Waterloo station with over 20 different currencies in coins and notes. Not a SINGLE coin was accepted at all, despite me checking the website prior which stated they should have been accepted. This was a considerable waste of time. Also only notes from three currencies were taken. Out of what should have been nearly £50 I received £5. (And, unfortunately, it does attract weirdoes who are keen to know what you are doing, but this can't be helped I guess!)

DON'T USE IT (at least for coins)! Commenting this machine in general and not the specific kings cross one. The rate is really bad but fine I'll accept it for the trouble. But it simply doesn't work for three reasons. 1. 90% of the coins were rejected 2. The machine recognises my coins as a completely different currency, with a different unit (like pound -> pence) ! And thus devaluing them by 95%! 3. Once the machine has accepted your money, you CANNOT reject whatever they think your money is worth

High expectations but 70% of my coins were rejected. Good job I checked as I hadn't initially realised they were spewing out at the bottom of the machine.. I must have had over £50 worth of various coins but walked away with £9!! Stuck in traffic to get to Fulham from Battersea.. Total waste of time!

It was such a good idea... and a very disappointing execution. They keep adding new machines, but the existing ones seem to be out of order most of the time. The accuracy of the coin recognition is APPALLING. I had 5 different currencies, carefully counted and fed separately in the machine one by one. In the end the machine recognized OVER 30!!!! DIFFERENT CURRENCIES. On top of that about 15% of the coins were neither counted nor returned, and this is a very conservative estimate. It is however accurate for the notes, hence the 2 stars. But if you have coins... proceed with caution.

The machines are straightforward to use and worked extremely well with multiple currencies. Two employees were servicing the machine as we arrived and were very helpful and friendly. The exchange rates were fair, but considering there is no other way to change coins, acceptable. No need to sort the coins, we had old European coins, Francs, Marks, Lire, Euros, US coins, Bahamian dollar's, etc... Just place the coins in the hopper and it does it for you. Will be using Fourex machines again.

TERRIBLE SERVICE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I would give no stars if that was even possible. I used a machine at Kings Cross station, tried to exchange £140 into Euros and only got €65.55 back! Despite their receipt saying I was given the full amount of €145. Unacceptable. There was no way to get my money back that wasn’t exchanged, and their customer service phone line was unhelpful from the start.

First experience using was a bit mixed. Machine and website said it can accept French Francs, but refused to do so, despite trying three times, each picking them up from the reject slot or off the floor. Also refused to accept the small 1 euro cent coins. Couple coins wrongly identified by machine, US Dime was identified as something from Sri Lanka. Hassled by beggar demanding 'just one coin' so gave him one at random. Machine refused to pay out £59 at the end, spoke to a member of tech team that turned up just as I'd finished. Promised to forward the monies owed within 72 hours. This took a month, after 14 emails to their support inbox. Doesn't like shiny French Francs was the reason. Eventually found the machine at London Bridge would agree to swallow them, after some persistence.

Avoid Stansted Airport machine in theory great idea but machines need work, had well over 50coins and it recognised about 2/3 coins every time I put them in. It's recognised coins of the wrong currency says I'd got Chilean pesos never been Chile or had any Chilean pesos so unknown what coin it should have been. Didn't accept any of my Filipino notes or Nicaraguan notes no matter which way round I put them in After 10minutes of messing about I just gave up I'd managed to get a whopping 61pence and still stuck with most of my coins/notes Really wasn't worth the effort

I’m posting for Fourex in general NOT KINGS CROSS. The machine is a great idea but... DO NOT USE if for meaningful transactions (ie, you’ll get a better rate for notes from a bureau de change)! -Doesn’t take some advertised currencies - example Thai Bhat Coins, Swedish coins and most of Isle of Man coins (£1 especially). I emailed them and they said they don’t take these anymore, so I said you are still advertising that you do on your website (trade descriptions and false advertising?) and they never replied. I've emailed them on many occasions, so they have had their chance to put things right. - like other comments, it says you’ve put in coins of currencies I never put in. - doesn’t like old English currency (old £5 notes or 50p but does take £1. - has given out (short-changed me) less than it should have done on 2 occasions. One by 10p and one by €1. They said that their machines are accurate. No they are not. - they put airport ones (Heathrow and Gatwick) which are NOT actually at the airport but at long stay locations well off site. Not convenient for most. - If you have any complaints, you must bombard them with emails otherwise they will ignore you. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired. - can't vouch for it, but how honest are these machines - it what you put in, is what you get out? As said earlier, the idea is a fantastic idea - if it works properly but alas it doesn’t.

Took all of my euros worth £10.38 and only dispensed 37 pence! I was put on hold when I called Customer service for more than 30 mins. Another family on the machine next to ours lost all their money too.

Kings Cross kiosks. I have used them 3 times and twice been hassled by beggars on the kiosk next to me! Yesterday was too much. The guy was checking my screen, asking for money and there was no-one from 'fourex' around. Kiosks are a great idea but ensure there is a fourex employee around before making a transaction. No-one will help you if things turn nasty!

Just used Oxford CIrcus one, changing Euros to USD. Worked really well and got a far better rate than upstairs. Took all my notes and coins, received some nice crisp dollars in return. Have used once before this ooccasion and will definitely use again.

Nightmare! I have checked online for the nearest fourex which happened to be Farringdon haven’t seen any note about whether it wasn’t working so went there and bam! Not working! I have rang so called ‘customer service number’ and lady said then that machine at Oxford Street is working(which has been checked 15min ago as she said) and I can go there. I went there and guess what? It wasn’t working for days which I was told by one of the kind tfl workers. So I’ve rang again.. and again and again after a while my phone call was going straight to the voicemail so I’ve been more than possible blocked by that lady which was completely unprofessional and rude! Afterwards I had to travel to kings cross to find working machine. Because of her incompetence I have lost time and money on unnecessary journeys. This is a joke if you’re calling this customer services. She should never worked there! Even the way she spoke to me was like if she had to pick an unwanted call while she’s at home. I am sorry I like the idea of fourex and used it few times but after that experience never again I’m using it and I would not recommend it to anyone either.

MISLEADING RATES ON WEBSITE AND MACHINE THAT CANT COUNT I used this for the first time today and it will be my last We had around 30 Euros in coins that we wanted to exchange for Euro notes. The website stated the rate was 1.04 meaning if we put 31.20EUROS in we would get a 30 EUROs in notes. Not only did the machine count 29 EUROS when we put in 31.20 but the rate given was NOT 1.04 as stated on their website but it was 1.17. We put 31.20 EUROs in and only got back 24.80 EUROS. I did email them to give them a chance to reply before I wrote this review and Dee replied with this "The rates advertised on our website are for guidance only, the kiosks are updated every 15 minutes in line with market and competitor information" and refused to refund. She did not reply with any explanation of why the machine could not count. I understand rates change but there is a huge difference between 1.04 and 1.17, especailly since it is from EURO coins to EURO notes. Their website even states this in the FAQ. How do I know how much I will receive? You can use the "exchange rate calculator" on the website, or on one of the kiosks to determine how much your money is worth. The machine does not allow you to cancel the transaction after you put the money in, so when you see the machine miscounted and how much money you get back, you have no option but to proceed with it. It is also interesting to note that Dee Wingrove-Smith wrote one of the reviews on here and someone called Dee Wingrove-Smith from Fourex replied to my email.

According to the machine right now it is sleeping and is only operational between the hours of 18.30 and 18.30. This is the second night in a row I have walked here because Google kindly told me that this place is open until 00.30 every night.
