My Son has been at John Ruskin College for 18 months now and I have to say all the staff I have had dealings with so far have been friendly, helpful and enthusiastic about their students and subjects. With current online learning (due to Covid 19) the teachers and support team have been second to none and are constantly at the end of an e-mail if help is needed. With this help and support my Son (who doesn't find learning easy) passed his Sports course last year and has just passed his GCSE Maths. If this is your local College give them a chance, you may be pleasantly surprised?

Absolute waste of time, the only thing I learned there is how to protect from knife attack. No teachers for most of the subject, now I can say that this school has ruined my life. You will benefit more from working in corner shop than finishing this school.

Fairly good college, security needs to be improved, some college departments are completely forgotten with equipment in terrible condition, staff is friendly and helpful but teachers are changing often. My course is really good. But I cannot say this is one of the beat colleges. (Surely much better than Croydon College)

John Ruskin- "Your career ENDS here" I currently studied at John Ruskin for 3 years AWFUL place if I could I wouldn't give a single star. Most of the reviews on here are from previous students who played a role in the student council being asked by staff to put a "good" review to out weigh the bad. Teachers are hired without qualifications (These teachers bullying students) leading to poor agency staff taking control possibly 9/10 different teachers in one academic year. There was no supplies for students who worked hard but disrespectful students who never turned up, never worked hard and had a bad attitude was taken to winter wonderland, how does this relate to there course subject? No supplies lead to students having to fork out hundreds of pounds to even get a good grade how does someone with a low family income suppose to make there future brighter? Students where forced to pay £88 at the beginning of the Level 3 year 2 course this money was suppose to be put towards stationary for the students and organised trip, this amount of money bought me no trips, a rusty used folder 2 cheap sketchbooks which I didn't use due to only needing folders for my course, pencil, pen and a glue. This stuff would cost you £20 maybe less in WHSmith but go to John Ruskin and get ripped off. When students did express there concern, you would only get turned away and nothing will be done about it oh apart from the teacher that would then bully you even more. I have had to remain anonymous due to the college previously blackmailing if we didn't sign a "contract" my course place will be removed this will then lead to myself with no qualifications. This contract spoke of lies and was used against students. No matter how hard you work John Ruskin still believe you are the worst person on the earth.

BEWARE. Students were asked to post positive reviews to counter the negative but TRUTHFUL REVIEWS posted here. DON'T BE FOOLED by the FALSE ADVERTISING in these reviews and their website. The teacher turn over rate is ridiculous, the pay is terrible, the lack of resources is APPALLING and the teaching is sub-par at best. This is a good college for students who have infants, students looking to study vocational courses or those who do not speak English as a first language but DO NOT COME HERE FOR A-LEVELS!!!

John Ruskin College is an outstanding college where student's needs are taken care of seriously and always providing guidance&advice to achieve full potential in their chosen career pathway. The Enrichment offers a vast number of different activities - there will always be a club that matches your interests. I find them exciting, inclusive and challenging!! #supportivestaff I strongly recommend this college to all my peers that want a Bright Future!

Safety needs to be improved as the gate is opened to public, anyone can access the college premises which isn’t safe for the students or staff members. Some class rooms look very poor with lack of equipment. Computers are quite old not working properly. Great hair&beauty department - hair salon, beauty salon and range of different tools and equipments.

I really enjoyed experience in John Ruskin College and currently, I am still in. I am studying for my GCSEs at the moment and I am looking for high grade with the support from the teachers and Student Services. In the next year I am planning to get in A level Science in John Ruskin College. The teamwork with students and staff members is one of the strongest attitudes in John Ruskin College, such as many more of them.

Should I send my child here is the question asked ? Well the answer is any child going to school in Croydon borough will be disappointed the borough lack education support However in regards to the school , I did find The staff at John rushkin are helpful with education plans ,however they do have a high turnover of staff . In regards to “safety “the pupils that attend there appear to be a high number under “social services “and therefore you can be putting your child at risk on this factor ! With the growing risk of knife crime and pupils being jumped the school does not take responsibility for incidents that could be avoided within there system so this should be considered children have been known to jumped at this school

Absolutely terrible teaching for the entire time I was at this school. For all my time there over the course of a year and a half I never had teachers for every class and at best I only had a teacher for a week before they left. They straight up lie to you about what courses you can do here or just omit details that are critical towards you're education.

Had an awful experience for three years at John Ruskin! Don't forget most of these reviews are done by student council at college and therefore have the role to make John Ruskin look amazing! Don't be fooled like I was !! John Ruskin seems to get great Ofsted reviews? This is because on those days staff and students are on their game- wanting to prove to be something there not. Now John Ruskin have employed staff who are not fully qualified, therefore our whole class had a close call on our course getting blocked because of the awful marking on our projects. Thank goddess we had an amazing teacher right towards the end of the last year who managed to save us! If this teacher did not come in our class would of had to redo the two years, I would of be distraught having to re do all that hard work, specially after what we had been through. Now John Ruskin ruined my college experience; horrible staff, no organisation, manipulation and uncertainty of our passion for the creatives as we had been put down so much due to there mess ups. I had about 11 different teachers in 3 years, now you can understand the disruption this makes in a class. Complaints and worries made by my parents or fellow class mates were never heard and John Ruskin say they are big on student voice? A lot of rubbish that is, even went to the principal and he did not make any time of day to speak to us just his PA. We all paid £88 at the beginning for the course and essential materials( this is for the creative industry students) I did not receive any of it till 3 months before I finished college. So for two years I had to provide my own materials becuase the college failed to provide us with what was needed and just kept our money! One thing I will defiantly mention is I had to pay £80 for my portfolio to get printed due to lack of technician help ( no technician hired until months later they did and then she got fired!) the equipment at John Ruskin (in the creative industries) don't really work and are slow that's why if I wanted to get into the uni I wanted I had to pay for my portfolio, which is rediculous pretty much half of the class did this! Yet we get blamed it's our fault? How? I do not know ? There is plenty I can say but one last thing I will mention is my class got blackmailed to sign a contract stating basically we cannot sue them, if anything happens further. Now I refused to sign it along with my classmates but I was told I had 30mins to sign it and give it to the head of creative industries or they will not give us our qualifications. The head of creative industries came up to talk and basically said sign it to cover the teachers back. Now from this blackmail we had to sign because we could not throw away the years of work and rubbish we had to go through with them! Don't be phased by there posts on socials or big banners outside the college saying how great they are because I thought it was a great college till I lived it!

I was meant to study English but was told that I already passed it so there is no need to. After 4 months, I was informed that there was a problem in the system and I should be actually attending the classes. Had to catch up with Mock exams and controlled assessments and do controlled assessments they were currently doing as well as get ready for GCSE within really short period of time. I called a few times to discuss this matter, sent an e-mail to info@ but haven't heard back from them at all. Followed up today. Also sent an e-mail requiring to return my work but it was also ignored. This situation is really frustrating. I informed in my e-mail that I will be taking further steps to get this problem resolved. I think the way I was being treated, does not even deserve one star. I will ask more people to leave their feedback about John Ruskin College.

The teacher turn-over for this college is appauling, having done my AS year here for the technology pathway I've seen a turn-over of about 5 teachers in the science department alone. Most of the admin personal there didn't even know one of my courses - A Level Computer Science - existed. Furthermore, the subjects which require permanant teaching such as Maths, have no permanent teaching, it's all subcontracted to part-time teachers. It's disgraceful and I have yet to receive a permanent teacher other than for Physics - which took nearly an academic year to find. Furthermore, the retention of students for A2 isn't up to standard either, nearly half of the Medical Science Pathway have left to study somewhere else or start BTEC Level 3 in the college after their AS years after recieving poor results. There's a reason why they don't advertise their grades for academic years. All of these issues continue to be a problem where management simply ignoring the issues at hand or try to down-play it by putting the blame on students for not revising themselves or not working hard enough, and they simply answer your questions with more questions - you can never find a straight answer to anything. Overall I'm really upset by what the college has done to the A-Level students and there is never a day that goes by where I don't feel comfortable with the staff they have in place.
