Best dentist I've ever been to. My dentist Dr Van Der Meulen is excellent (the best) and has a very thorough, gentle and caring manner. Mrs Sue Austin is excellent to. The reception staff are very personable and polite. This is why I give the practice 5 star as i wouldn't go anywhere else.

Visited today and saw the new dentist Sarah for a check up, I explained that I was having a few problems with sensitivity in a tooth and found her very helpful and professional, she did some x-rays, cleaned my teeth and put some protective coating over the sensitive tooth, and explained that if I was having anymore trouble with it to come back and see her.
I spoke to Naomi (the receptionist) after my visit to make another appointment for a check up next year and found her very helpful as per usual, I have been using this practice for a number of years now and have always found the staff to be extremely professional and understanding, and I have always found Naomi to be very helpful.

A handful of rediculous 1 star reviews here should be ignored. Been going here for the past 5 years. Dr Alex is quite honestly the best dentist I've ever seen. Really nice guy and feel completely safe. Absolutely reccommed 5 stars

I have always been apprehensive and nervous of visiting the dentist. However my attitude has changed completely since becoming a patient at this Practice. Dr Alex is a brilliant dentist, very gentle and calming. He is also a great communicator and takes all the time I need to explain the procedure, from what kind of noise I will hear, to what he is doing and how to raise my hand if I want him to pause at any time. His team including the hygieinists, receptionists, and nurses are always welcoming, friendly and totally professional. The surroundings are relaxing and very pleasant. The journey by car is well worth it. Highly Recommended Practice

Visited today as a nervous patient. Decided that face to face visit was the better option to get a clearer picture of the staff and their understanding of nervous patients. Sadly I was not impressed by the Reception and would not return. I need trust and to feel comfortable with the staff as it's a great starting point for nervous patients.

So glad I found this dentist: Nick van der Meulen is painstaking, calm and excellent on aesthetics. His nurse is great and they work well together to create a reassuring harmony always going for the best result. Naomi the receptionist is the best receptionist ever: responsive, helpful and attentive. Very professional outfit and I really feel like I'm paying for expertise, not just a premium for over-expensive rent or decor.

I had always dreaded going to the dentist for many years and once had terrible teeth as a result. I was a classic nervous patient. Despite visiting numerous private dentists in London, near work, life was becoming a painful biography about me and my teeth.
I am grateful to have found Saltdean Dental Health and have received excellent treatment from all the dentists at one time or another.
Particular thanks to dentists Dr Alex Fenech and Dr Nick Van Der Meulen who have been clinically excellent, professional and friendly. The other support staff have been very efficient, professional and kind.
The receptionist has always been efficient and polite. I never mind occasionally waiting a bit longer because some delays are inevitable when doctors and dentists are doing their job properly and focusing on what's important for every patient, and not just when it's my turn.

Fantastic team. Very helpful receptionist was able to book me an appointment for the following day, where my broken tooth was duly mended at the same appointment by Dr Alex. Great experience, no hassle, no fuss, no pain. Recommended!

There's something wrong with this place. I get the feeling with this practice that it is run for its staff more than it is for its patients, and it's mostly in business because it accepts NHS and there aren't any other dentists in Saltdean. My last two visits I have been unavoidably late; and in the first instance I was made to wait another 10 minutes for no apparent reason other than to punish me, and in the second, even though I arrived in the time that the receptionist and I agreed would still allow me to receive some treatment, I was told that I couldn't be treated when I arrived. The treatment is so so, I can't comment on individual dentists because the turnover has been high in my experience, but they ALWAYS try and sell me some high priced extra gubbins at the end. I won't be going back and if you can avoid them, I would.

I am 35 years old and before I visited Saltdean dental practice I was not afraid of dentists. My visit was horrific! the dentist insisted I had to have a wisdom tooth removed and almost guaranteed a quick and painless experience. I spent 1hr in the chair under local and was told to leave as she was running behind after having only removed half of the tooth.
She did not advise any specific painkiller etc and nothing was prescribed. The pain I experienced that evening was the worst pain I have ever felt in my whole life and I have broken various bones had surgery's etc before but this was totally unbearable I spent all evening and most of the night passing up and down the kitchen trying not to cry. A year later I still have half a tooth in my mouth because I'm terrified of going back. My experience at Saltdean dental was the stuff horror films are made of I do not recommend as this has marked me for life

Had to have a tooth extraction. I was very nervous, and worried about the pain.
Alex was brilliant the first local anaesthetic injection did not hurt at all, and the second one just stung a little like a wasp sting, just for a couple of seconds, and that was it!!!
Alex explained the procedure to me, what I would hear and feel, and any problems to raise my hand.
It hardly took any time at all, and I am extremely happy. No pain at present, and going back to work.

FUTURISTIC SHOW
I went to this dentist five years ago because I had one broken tooth. The dentist x-rayed me and told me that actually I needed a lot more work doing than just the one filling. I was happy to have the work done as it was important to me that any potential problems were fixed. She decided to do it in job lots, rushing the fillings and obviously not taking much care. Five years down the line I have started having trouble with the fillings (white fillings are supposed to last up to 15 years and I take good care of my teeth). I went to a new dentist yesterday who worked on one of my teeth. Once he was inside the tooth he said that my previous dentist had never actually cleared the decay from my tooth, they had just put filling on top of it. This is obviously really shoddy dental work and I am appalled at having paid private prices for bad work. I would not recommend this dentist to anybody.

I would not ever go back to this dentist the receptioist is rude and i have had such a terrible experince with the dentists here. I booked an appointment as was having a few problems with my teeth i asked for an extra 30mins as i knew i needed work whilst waiting 40 Mins past my appointment time i then got seen by the dentist who didnt even appoligise for running late she explained i needed a filling in which i replied yes this is why i have booked the extra 30 Min slot, She then stated there was no extra slot booked ( even tho this was confirmed via text) and stated she did not have time and i would have to re-book as they where running late. After this i went to pay and rather than £16.50 check up the recptionist stated i was required to pay £20.00 as they had used all the NHS funding for this year. I have since spoke with someone higher up in the NHS who stated that as a dental practice they should write to all there patients to advise this which they have not done.
All in all a terrible experince i would not recommend people visiting this dentist an less they want to be ripped off with no customer care what so ever.
