I cannot say enough good things about this hospital and it’s staff. They are such genuinely caring people. Everyone there from top to bottom are just amazing people. This place literally saved my life! I highly recommended if you’re in need of cancer treatment! You will not be disappointed.

This review is for the garden across from the hospital entrance. It is a beautiful and peaceful place with shade for walking and tables and benches for outdoor seating.

My father in law died in your care. He spent the last week of his life alone with no family by his side due to "covid." He was vaccinated and so was his wife, yet she was not allowed to visit. There is nothing scientific about this.

Although the nurse were very kind but the doctor my brother had has no bed side manner. He did not help him or find what the problems he was having he told them he couldn't urinate fully and they released him didn't tell him anything and the paper he was giving at discharged said results are not in for any blood/urine work and the cat scan was not read fully..I though this was a good place with doctors that care his did not seem very caring.

Still the best as of 2016. Doubt that's changed. Always set the standard for the hospital systems I've been to, as a patient. Some are following in MD Anderson's footsteps. And, it's a sight I am glad to see. However, nobody has measured up yet. To MD Anderson's extremely high standards of care, R&D, and influence.

My late husband was very happy to have known most of the doctors that took good care of him. I am so grateful for everyone at this hospital for all that they have done for my husband .

I wish every hospital was like MD Anderson. The staff always takes such wonderful care of me. If you know someone with cancer this is the place to go. I could have died using my local Doctors and Hospital in Longview TX. MD Anderson stepped in and saved me.

They've taken great care of my mom for the past 9 years and the staff is always so wonderful and thoughtful. It's always super clean, too, which makes me feel better about being in a hospital setting.

Dr Shirley Y Su was outstanding. We talked about my issue and all the possible actions that may be explored for my situation. She was very calm, thorough, kind, understanding, and reassuring. Dr Su was the first Dr I saw after being diagnosed. She is absolutely the best person to meet with when beginning a very difficult medical process. She promised to be there with me when needed through the entire process.

The nurse Rodney, was extremely attentive to my grandmother and very willing to help. I did get frustrated with him in regards to things he couldn’t control which I do apologize for. Rodney is the a great example as a nurse and represents MD Anderson in a wonderful light. Be safe everyone.

I wish I had something good to say about this hospital. Unfortunately they took my brother in and in less that 24 hours he was gone. After being stabilized in another hospital MD Anderson decided to take him in only to let him die. I don’t want to be unfair. We knew our brother was very sick and we did not expect the doctors to do miracles but the poor service that he received was disappointing. After refusing to allow one of us (his sisters) to stay with him even though they knew he was very sick, DNR, and unable to care for himself they called at 0830 to tell us that his health deteriorated during the night and he wouldn’t make it home as planned. When we arrived to see my brother he was in pain, we asked if he was able to sleep and he said he was in pain all night. He wanted to vomit and asked my sister to pass him a pink bucket that he was given to vomit. They didn’t even have the decency of providing an emesis bag for him. I noticed there were supplies at bed side to set up suction but everything was unopened. No one even tried to use the suction set up to keep him comfortable. He did not even have a pillow for his head. He was not even given a sip of water all night. I had sent him a message that morning to check on him but he never had a chance to read it. His cellphone was far away from him. The bedside table was far away near the wall not at his bedside like it’s supposed to be. After he passed I asked for soap and water to clean his body. He was sitting in a pool of blood. He bleed out and no one even noticed. Of course I am angry, of course I am disappointed, I feel that my brother was not taken care of. I feel that I was robbed from that opportunity to care for him. He was alone and scared when the doctors went to tell him that he was not going to make it home. When we arrived the first thing my brother said was “they have told me the worse, they said I will not make it home”. That is one of the main reason we wanted to stay with him that night. We did not want him to be alone and afraid while being tortured by medical professionals who are supposed to be compassionate. We understand the “we have an obligation to tell you things as they are”. We understand, but why let our brother be alone while telling him the worse. Where is the human side, the compassionate side? Why didn’t you let one of us be with him and care for him? That, I do not understand and I never will. To: the manager at the front entrance who knew of our situation but still decided not to make an exception to let us care for our brother. To: the night shift nurse who was supposed to care for him at night but didn’t even provide him with a pillow for his head. To: The Doctors who went to tell my brother while he was afraid and alone that he would not make it home. To: the doctors who entered the room while our brother was passing away and stood there watching while we cried mourning our brother. We hope you all find peace on your heart and never again do to another patient what you did to my brother. For the love of God stop being insensitive, stop being cold, stop being careless. We are human beings we are suppose to be caring and understanding. We don’t expect an apology or a response because anything you can say at this point it is just an excuse. I do hope this message gets to all of you because you all need to re-think the way you treat your patients or at least the way you all treated my brother and never again treat another patient the way you treated him.

By far the best cancer treatment facility in the world!! The doctors put you on a specialized program that is best for your illness. After that, the nurses guide you thru it with open minds and giving and caring souls. I’ve been coming here since April 2019 and I love it!! AAA+ facilities and employees!! Thank you for saving my life!

A family member is being treated at MD Anderson for breast cancer. She has to fly in every week from Dallas for her treatments. The doctors are great. The problem is with how poorly the staff coordinate with the patients and with other departments. Patients flying in from out of town for treatment need to have everything scheduled on one day (chemo, blood work, x rays, CT scans, MRI's). Despite being repeatedly told this, staff in radiology and oncology don't seem able to perform basic tasks, are completely inefficient, and don't listen to patients. They repeatedly schedule tests on any day of the week, seemingly oblivious to the fact that the patient is not local. Patients have to constantly call in and remind different departments that they are coming in from out of town for tests. It adds far too much stress to patients already under a lot of stress dealing with their cancer treatments. Why is this even an issue? Staff need to be more competent, learn how to perform their tasks more efficiently, and communicate with patients more effectively. As it stands, the staff at MD Anderson do not act like they are part of a world class treatment centre, but an inefficient and clumsy hospital unable to get basic things right. This kind of treatment of patients is unacceptable.

Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019. Immediately called and scheduled a consult. I was ordered to undergo a repeat mammogram and an ultrasound which confirmed diagnosis from my local physician. Literally from the first minute of doing my mammogram, I KNEW I had made the right decision. My treatment team were awesome!! I could not be more pleased. I have completed chemotherapy and recently had a mastectomy and will undergo reconstruction surgery later in the year, following radiation. From the doctors, nurses, physicians assistants, anesthetists and to the people who park my car, I have never been treated more kind. Thank you MD Anderson!! And thank you God for your healing!

I can't say enough about this wonderful place. I have been here many times in the past couple of years to support my husband. The doctors, nurses, and staff are among the best in the world. They are also caring and supportive. I have zero medical background, and the nurse who certified me to flush my husband's PICC line could not have been more explicit and patient. Our most recent visit was complicated by the COVID restrictions. We were lucky to have FaceTime. No place is perfect, but this one is way up there! Thank you MD Anderson.

Simply an incredible experience at MDA. The people, the attention to detail, the professionalism, the facilities and the list goes on and on. There’s a reason they’re rated No. 1. If you or a loved one needs medical care for cancer, look no further. This is the destination of your hopes and prayers.

Everyone at MD Anderson, from the doctors to the valet workers, are amazingly pleasant. Appointments go according to schedule mostly; I never had to wait much past my scheduled appointment time. They understand that no one there is having their best day, and make things as easy as possible. My doctors were always quick to get back to me when I had questions or problems. Hands down the best medical facility I have ever had occasion to visit. If only my regular doctor's office ran so smoothly!

For those of you who are or have loved ones seeking treatment for cancer please read this. I gave 4 stars for only the doctors. For the rest I would had given 1 star. There are 2 faces of MD Anderson: the doctors and the support staff. The doctors are without doubt the top physicians in their field. I know this because they saved my mother's life. But there is another face or side to MD Anderson that will surprise you - the seemingly lackluster support staff. On the day of my mother's cancer surgery, the lab work on her blood specimen report was not received by her surgeon and forcing us and the doctor to contact those responsible to get the result. When the surgery was completed successfully, the staff moved her to her hospital room, they transferred her from the rolling bed she was transported in to the bed in her room. In doing so, they got the IV tubes/hoses tangled and caught which ripped it out of her arm - there was blood everywhere and she was in great pain. Thank God they got the bleed stopped. She had a ugly large bruise on her arms for nearly 2 months. But it did not end there: after she was allowed to come home I had to contact MD Anderson for questions regarding her medications and what we thought was a problem resulting from the surgery. I called the phone number for outpatient help we were given by the hospital staff and got a messaging service who paged a nurse or physician on call. After waiting an hour and no one called back, I called again and same result. I ended up having to call a relative who was a doctor for help. As for the call back from MD Anderson, someone did callback - over 12 hours (the next day) later. And this illustrates another problem in that there is no means to directly contact the doctor's office. Even when I call the main help number, they will connect me to the doctor's nurse phone but will not give the phone number for me to call directly. But every time my call is transferred to the nurse's office, no one picks up (not even once) and you go straight to voice mail which sometimes does not work - it hangs up after telling you to leave a message. Last, there is the ongoing problem with appointment scheduling in that EVERY scheduled appointment ended up having some changes due to mistakes or mix up. We have yet to have one single scheduled appointment that occurred without changes or me having to contact the physician's office to get things corrected before the date of appointment. Before cancer affected my family, I would never have imagined that the world class medical center at MD Anderson would have such a poor support staff. While grateful to the doctors who are truly the best, I am very disappointed with the rest at MD Anderson.

I've been here at least 10 times in the last few months, my mother-in-law has cancer. She's probably been her 100 times in the past year. When I drive her its easy to get around because she knows where to go, when we walk in she directs us and knows the best routes to take. If I'm coming here to meet her its a bit more difficult. But everyone who works here is very nice and helpful, we are amazed at the consistently good customer service!

Every time my father-in-law goes here for his appointments ALL of the doctors are hours late. He ends up being at the hospital for 15+ hours on every SINGLE appointment day and sometimes over 24 hours. He is the last patient to leave even when his appointments are at 7AM. Consultations do not take hours. The staff of this center do not care about anyone else's time but their own. Most of this time is spent in the waiting area. Might as well not make appointments since they're never on time. When my FIL mentions side effects from the treatments the doctors tell him to go to the ER instead of explaining that chemo is a serious treatment and causes a multitude of symptoms that can potentially be different for every patient. Seems like they only want to run his bills up higher instead of caring for their patients.

For how much they charge, you'd think you'll be getting more. Actually, the wait time is pretty long. Don't get me wrong, they do provide excellent treatment. They can use a bit of re-structuring to make things more efficient.

It’s much easier to talk to your president than to talk to your doctor. They stopped my father’s treatment after 3 chemo cycles because of some missing information from the health plan. The only thing they care about is money .

My spouse is getting treatment for a relatively rare cancer, requiring inpatient chemo and surgery. While it took us a minute to learn how to navigate the large campus and institutional structures and processes, the care at MDA has been mostly great, despite our difficult situation. Specifically, the techs, nurses, NPs/PAs, social workers, and docs in our main clinics and the sarcoma med-onc floor have been mostly wonderful. When we've encountered problems or bad attitudes, they've usually been in support/adjunct/admin units like financial clearance. Some (but not all) of those problems are rooted in the country and state's messed up insurance/sickcare system. Overall, we're grateful for this important public institution and hope it continues to improve access to excellent cancer care.

I’m appalled at some of the reviews that’s being wrote on here, usually people that write reviews are the ones that’s upset, I had to stop reading them, one place said it’s Ghetto, its actually more like a luxury hospital, you would have to see it yourself. . M.D. Anderson is Amazing, the #1 doctors from all over the world are here. I’m sorry that you’re loved one may not of made it but remember it’s cancer and the best chance they had is at MD Anderson. I’m 37 and I’m flying here from the other side of the country once a month for the last 7 months (all expenses paid because I’m in a clinical trial, paid by the drug maker). I was diagnosed with a rare cancer, like one out of 200 or so be diagnosed, it’s a tumor in my salivary gland on my jaw. I was told by other hospitals that I have no option but cut it out and the side of my face be paralyzed, I couldn’t imagine and felt I rather be dead. I’m in a clinical trial taking a pill twice a day and it’s basically gone, on a PET scan it’s not there and barely visible on a MRI, it’s possible it’ll be totally gone soon, if not they can do surgery without harming the nerves. The surgeon here is no shit the #1 head and neck surgeon in the world and he says there’s no need for surgery. Im forever grateful. If you’re told you have no chance by your doctor then I recommend you get a second opinion here. They can’t save everyone but it’s your best chance.

MD Anderson in my opinion is THE place to be if you are fighting cancer. They review your case with fifty physicians who are top in their field of expertise to come up with the best plan to fight your cancer. They are thorough in their testing and deliver excellent patient care. My husband was told elsewhere that all they could do was radiation to buy him more time, but MD Anderson said we will do surgery which will remove 95% of the cancer and use chemo and radiation to fight the remaining cancer. They gave us hope. All of the doctors, nurses and staff are top notch!

Dr. Pagliaro and his team are amazing, talented, and blessed! I just wish the Supportive Care Department was better at their job. I regret taking my father to the hospital and I truly regret telling my father to put his faith into this hospital. My husband was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer. We were advised to go to MD Anderson for a second opinion. After a six week frustrating process of making phone calls every single day we finally made the flight to Texas to meet with their specialist. He walked into the room and told us he didn't know why we were there because they needed the sample from our initial surgery/tumor. Six weeks of calling every single day asking them if they needing anything and they never said anything. They let us take off work, fly to Texas, get hotel rooms and show up for an appointment that they knew wasn't necessary. After WE made arrangements to have the sample sent to MD Anderson they told us they would look at it and give us results a few days later. The night before they were going to give us results they called and cancelled. We flew home with no answers. If MD Anderson is one of the top rated cancer hospitals we are in serious trouble. As far as I am concerned, they should have to pay our hotel, parking, food, travel and missed wages for their mistakes and for them to sit in front of us and say, "Ooops! Sorry."

For 2 years my fiance has been receiving treatment at MD Anderson. I have heard more negative than positive. It is a cattle drive and as a patient you are just a # providing a pay check. They have horrible bed side manner and do NOT care about people. If you do not have insurance, they will REFUSE treatment. HORRIBLE! This is absurd and the TRUTH will eventually reach the masses and institutions like this will die. If you are dealing with cancer and illness, check out the China Study and watch Forks over Knives. Take control of your life, make better nutritional choices, and start exercising. God Bless and I pray this review helps you.

This place deserves a minus five. Worst customer care we have ever experienced. We traveled a long way to come for the "best cancer care" in America. The patients here are treated like cattle. And then they changed the appointments for care out another week Without even consulting us. Absolutely horrific treatment. If you come here you may be one of the lucky ones. We spent seven years enduring not only my husband’s cancer diagnosis, but also the horrific lack of continuity and communication that is extremely prevalent at MD Anderson. And to add insult to injury, no one is held accountable for this ignorance. They all just talk about each other, you know as good cop, bad cop. Be very careful when approaching this facility for your cancer needs. Record every word spoken, because it will change minute to minute, with ZERO recollection from the source that spoke it. It’s a scary place, so don’t go in there alone, have a patient advocate with you, and a caregiver that will be your extra set of eyes and ears. There are many many stories like mine, and I promise you, protect yourself. They are a very poorly managed business with an incredibly broken system. Pay attention, because they aren’t.

The prayers, care even occasional singers was comforting in all respects. After our experiences in other places, we wouldn't consider going anywhere else. God bless MDA and all connected to you.
