Had a very good experience here from start to finish. Doctors/Surgeons were thorough in their explanations and listened to all worries and concerns. Nurses were very attentive and compassionate. Surgery went very smoothly and as planned. Not to mention, VERY nice facilities and patient rooms, good food, and city views. Truly one of the best in the West. I marvel at the power of Western treatments/medicine.

I have MAD RESPECT for the Huntsman. My best friends mom is at Huntsman now, and they are doing what they can to save her. Another friend's wife is dying and they are offering to help. They are miracle workers. Now with their new research facility, I hope they can soon lower the exponential financial costs of Cancer treatments. And aid in prevention and cures. My hats off to them.

I cant speak highly enough of the Huntsman. Thank you for treating my sister so well, for making her feel loved and supported and cared for while her family cannot be by her side through her battle. She adores her nurses and genuinely looks forward to seeing them every day. It brought tears to my eyes to watch the staff celebrate her birthday with her and do unnecessary gestures, like braid her hair and bring her treats. She is recovering so well and her spirits are so high because she's receiving such top-tier care. I couldn't wish for her to be anywhere greater. Thank you.

Wow! I am very impressed with how Nurse Bob quickly was able to listen and answer my question over the phone!! Health Professionals THAT CARE! ???? Thank you so so very much!! I am a former Cancer Patient and this is definitely the kind of caring team that listens and answers that I would recommend any patient to seek treatment even for your family/friend ???? Thank You Again!!

Doctor Ward, Rosemary and the entire Huntsman team worked to prolong my wife's life in a kind, compassionate and professional manner. They truly cared about her and myself, and worked incredibly hard to find solutions for her extremely complicated metastatic breast cancer. This was my wife's forth bout with cancer and certainly the worst, especially given there is no cure as of today. Thank you for giving her two years that I feel would not have been possible at another cancer center. - Bob

I was admitted to the ICU the past weekend, and spent the next 4 days in the hospital. My every need was met, the room was great, every nurse, health care associate, and physician's assistant who helped me was a rock star, and when the doctors dropped by to check on my progress periodically, they were able to answer every question I had, and out me at ease. It was a stressful time, but I could not have been in better hands.

My fiancee stayed here in the ICU for a week. The staff was so incredibly amazing! The best experience by far in a hospital. Everyone was so kind, caring and helpful it really made things easier for us. They genuinely cared about both him and I during our time there. I highly recommend this place to anyone dealing with either their own illnesses or a family members. They have a little library they've started that's by donation for patients or family to read while they're there. Another amazing thing they do if your not a TV person, they have movies you can check out to watch. It definitely helped watching light-hearted films to make us laugh and spend time together. They have a little laundry room for use if you need it and family showers. It was amazing not needing to leave my fiance's side during his stay. It was a very scary experience for us, but the Huntsman's staff helped lift our spirits and hope. There's more great things to talk about, but not nearly enough space ❤️

My husband was in there in June. The first two weeks he was there the care was very good. They ran thousands of dollars of tests and they came back negative. He had tumors in his spine. They said that type of cancer started in the stomach, but yet they couldn't find any trace in his stomach after running the same test a couple of times. They don't want to explain what they are doing or why. They don't want you to question them and they don't want to answer your questions. You don't have a say in your treatment. And once they think they can't help you- the care you need and they SHOULD be providing is pretty much stopped. I came into my husband's room on more than one occasion to find him sitting in his own urine. (They didn't want him to get up he was a fall risk. Yet they didn't have the time to come help him). After the first incident I went in and complained they said it would be taken care of. (NOT) He had a wound on his backside and he developed sepsis. We asked for a wound care specialist. They came in and just put metahoney on it. When we said enough is enough and wanted him released it took them 2 more days to do that. Then one of the staff came in to talk to my husband about his release and they actually told him to go home and die. They said all his medications would be sent to our pharmacy. They were never called in (Had to call family doctor to call them in ) I would never have taken him there had I known the kind of care they gave. If you love your family PLEASE don't go there.

After my husband's cancer diagnosis, I called the Huntsman Cancer Canter to get an appointment with a specialist there. I couldn’t even get past the woman who I spoke with to schedule an appointment there. I'm sure that to her I was just another person calling that may sound a little impatient about getting their loved one in to see the specialist, but for her sake, I pray that she is never in the shoes that I've been forced to stand in. Her curt replies were the icing on the cake of a nightmare that I woke up to just three days prior to our conversation. She made sure to let me know by her cold, callous demeanor that my questions were annoying. May I suggest employing staff with the kindness, patience and compassion that is so very needed in their line of work. Don’t waste your time calling them, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

The worst care I have ever received. I have never been to a place that cares so little about the patient. On the first page of their pamphlet it states that the patient along with their doctor will determine a treatment plan. This is not TRUE! My doctor did not care about my opinion. He couldn't even take the time to listen to my heart or ask me how I was feeling at the first appointment. When I voiced my opinion about what I wanted to be done to MY body he became a big bully. When I spoke with a social worker about not being included in my own health care they tried their best but nothing happened. When ever any other provider had an ideas about my health problems he immediately shut it down. Couldn't take the time to even check on me after my surgery. I am still having issues after the surgery. I wish that I could have been treated at a different Cancer Institute. An institution that when a patient makes an complaint about the doctor they stop and listen. When I requested a different doctor nothing happened. All my concerns and fears fell on deaf ears. This treatment was witnessed not only by my family but by other professionals who seemed defeated. How can one doctor have so much power that no one can disagree with him. My health was put in jeopardy because of a doctor's ego. Doctors are not God!

they neglected my stepfather, as my babies sisters had to watch. And any time they call and ask for the nurses to be taught this story so it wont continue to happen to others they are treated terrible. So many sad stories I have continued to see. things need to change, and the responsible staff should be terminated. #justiceforRandyRogers justice for Randy Rogers!!

My wife is a patient here and we have experience the worst care. If you thought politicians were bad, Huntsman's has them beat. They never listen. They don't like when you ask questions. The communication between doctors is very poor. No one listens and no one cares. Especially if you happen to be a person of color. If we wanted anything done we would have to bring a white person with us. Then amazingly we could have what they just said no to. I didn't want to believe that at first. But after trying it several times and seeing it with my own eyes... Huntsman is not the place you want your loved one seen at if you want compassionate caring doctors. You already have cancer you don't need to add this place to your problems. I would not wish them on my worst enemy.

This is the only place you should go to if you have cancer. My wife has a rapidly growing cancer. The doctors here are experts and the bench strength of the staff is deep. They brought her into the hospital on a Friday and called in doctors over the weekend to get a diagnosis then started her treatment on Sunday evening. It bears repeating - they brought in doctors over the weekend who weren't scheduled to work around the clock to find the proper diagnosis. There were over 6 different disciplines of doctors doing the analysis and over 12 different doctors. We had gone to a medical group in Utah county and their diagnosis was so shallow they would have used the wrong chemo therapy. Huntsman went three levels deeper into what it was which changed the treatment protocol. I can go on about the knowledge base, how they treat patients with respect but that would be too long of a review.

This review is directed at the scheduling system at The Huntsman. My blood count was low at my May physical and I was referred to Huntsman. I had to wait nearly 6 weeks for that initial consult. It turns out I have terminal cancer and now everyone is in a blind panic to try and extend my life as long as possible. Forgetting that we lost 6 weeks waiting for that initial appointment. I am now told to rest and make the most of the time that I have left...yet The Huntsman scheduling department refuse to allow this due to their inconsiderate scheduling. They know I am dependent on transport and live 45 miles away from the facility. They also know I cannot make early morning appointments, yet they repeatedly give me the 8.40am, which they assured me wouldn't happen again and yet it has on two more occasions. Quite often I only find about some appointments by visiting My Chart, I've missed a few because nobody bothered to notify me. Their totally inconsiderate scheduling/appointment system results in my travelling backwards and forwards continually and it is killing me faster than the cancer. Due to this I am either forced into palliative care or to seek ongoing treatment/care elsewhere. They need to remember that it doesn't make any difference how much they spent on polished wood and marble, or how good the doctors are. Without an effective scheduling system it renders everything else worthless.

Due to hearing the trending reports from the news on how great this institute is, I scheduled a request for a appointment online to try and get my grandma in to see a doctor here by getting referred here, she has stomach cancer and has been receiving chemo treatment for over a year now and it hurts me to see my grandma's health not improving and she has been very depressed and very scared of not knowing what the future holds for her, she is a retired school teacher and on low income housing. We were given a straight to the point explanation from the rep at the clinic that she would just do the same thing she is doing right now at her current clinic and also they have no financial help programs at all..... just the way that it was just told to us was not nice at all, she sounded annoyed and too busy to help us. overall i feel my grandma's mental health would of improved knowing she was going to a nice clinic, and might of improved her motivation in fighting this but i guess we held our hopes up to high with this place.

Patient first. Very positive and upbeat. You have a team that all work together. This place is great. Understand that cancer is invasive in our society and this community is no different. The hospital is very busy, but they do a great job to try and keep it moving and still give very personable care. Just be a patient patient.

I have been going to Huntsman Cancer Institute since 2017. I just found out they still have not done a baseline for my cancer. In 2013, I was given only 6 wks to live, Billings Clinic, in Billings, Mt saved my life, then I transferred to Huntsman Cancer Institute. I am really disappointed with HCI. Dr. said they do not have time to read my cancer file, & knows nothing about cancer in my lungs, liver, spleen, or common bile duct. It is really disappointing.

Overall, my family member received excellent care & compassion from the staff at Huntsman, which was invaluable & comforting while his life hung in peril. Our experiences with the majority of the staff is what influenced my review of 4/5 stars. There were 2 exceptions to the excellent care: (1) When my family member was at his worst, he had to have round-the-clock supervision, & he was unable to speak. One day, we came in & asked the staff member who stayed with him overnight if he had X, Y, or Z. She said he had (i.e., all the right/desired answers). Our family member typed a message to us on his phone that she was lying, & other data points suggested he was the one telling the truth. (2) One of the speech pathologists was particularly abrasive & rude. She came in one day to do swallowing exercises with our family member. She was saying things that were inconsistent with the update from the previous speech pathologist, so my uncle expressed confusion & asked her to explain the change in information. She did this aggressively & in a theatrical & condescending manner. At the end, she looked over at where us family members were sitting & asked, "Any more questions from the peanut gallery?" In retrospect, I wish we would've confronted these 2 incidents on the spot, but a year later, I recognize that scared, desperate families don't necessarily have the capacity to assertively address these kinds of nuances -- as the families are hyper-focused on the life of their family member. I applaud the many, many incredible staff members at Huntsman, & I simultaneously implore the deficient few to be more humane & professional in their treatment & care of patients & their loved ones.

I firmly believe that all staff here must pass some type of high character exam. These are the greatest, most caring and pleasant people I have been around. My Mother is extremely ill and was admitted into the ICU.. Once moved out of icu and into the fourth floor we were greeted by one of the nicest and most diligent nurses we've ever dealt with in my Mother's YEARS of being sick and cared for. Nicole on the fourth floor night shift exemplifies what nursing is truly about and I haven't felt better about leaving my Mother in someone's care. If I had a way to bless her i swear i would pay for her schooling. She deserves someone to. She's who you want your family member to cross paths with. Along with all the staff there being over the top I couldn't feel safer about my Mother's care. Thank you

The doctor and staff were wonderful in the oncology department. The Huntsman pain clinic was terrible. My husband was in great pain and they constantly had him coming back every week to adjust his medication which was VERY difficult for him the last 6-8 weeks of his life. They would tell us we didn’t need to come back - “just call us if the medication is insufficient to cover the pain” - then they would give us some story and forced him to go back to get medication adjusted AFTER doctor told us she would do it without having him come back 3-4 days later. Plain lying. I found them totally inadequate to deal with the pain of cancer. One nurse in particular named Kris from the pain clinic was rude, unfeeling and disrespectful on the phone to both me and my husband. She has no business dealing with people in pain much less people who are TERMINAL and in HORRIBLE pain. She added to our grief and hardship 10 fold. Kris seemed surprised he had passed. She was totally unaware of how near death he was and how much terrible pain he was suffering. I wouldn’t recommend the pain clinic at Huntsman unless there is no other place on earth where you may obtain help for your pain. Your pain is at the bottom of their list.

Patients here are either just starting or ending their battles. It is heartbreaking. I spent my time caroling with The Jason Long Foundation and left humbled. The care is wonderful and so is the staff. Very pricey, but if you want the best for your loved ones, there is no other that compares. They will do whatever you ask, even getting closed circuit TV that isn't available in the area.

I value and commend the hard work done by all staff members here. They were not able to cure my father but his journey along the way gave him more years to spend with me and the family. They are some of the most caring, compassionate, kind, and sincere people around. I recommend Huntsman to anyone who is battling cancer.

My husband received life saving care here. There's no way he'd still be here if it weren't for the amazing dedication by all who work here. Top physicians in the world. Not too mention the staff and faculty. It's a gorgeous place. Mrs Huntsman helped decorate and beautify the inside. It's a very peaceful place. We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful place in utah. Amazing facts behind what makes this place tick as well.

Huntsman Cancer Institute is best in class, and we'll be forever grateful to them for saving my father's life. The doctors at the Institute, Dr. Benjamin Maughan and Dr. Brock O'Neil specifically, were amazing; they were able to fill us with hope yet give us the scientific facts regarding my father's diagnosis and treatment. How they did both at once is truly a marvel. Dr. O'Neil was able to perform a life-saving surgery that previous doctors had failed to do. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the entire Shaw family.

I love hope lodge and the donation support for cancer patients. I dont like how the hospital side destroyed my beautiful wife. We used to go out for date night.
