As a cancer patient, I am sure you are doing an amazing job. Congratulations to my Oncologist Dr. Elisa Krill-Jackson, and all the staff including of course the doctors team. As well as all personel since you arrive at 12Ave NW Miami, Both Laboratory locations, all very professionals, and treatment area where you realized you are in the best hands. Thank you very much. Keep up the good work

The nurses were very supportive and caring. They took excellent care of my mother and made sure that she (a non-native English speaker) understood the medical procedures, as well as every drug administered to her. Ruth, the oncology massage therapist, offered her services for free and did an excellent job of helping my mom relax, physically and mentally. We received a gift bag for the oncology patient, containing goodies such as lotion, a sleeping mask, non-slip socks, and a thermometer. The staff even took care of my father and me by making sure that we also understood the treatment and by offering us beverages, snacks, and sandwiches. The facility is clean and our experience was as pleasant as it could have been.

This place is amazing. They save lives. Of course not everyone's experience will be the same but in a short period of time I went from a huge mass to no cancer. My oncologist, Dr. Sinno, is very knowledgeable and caring and as a gynecologist he has a very gentle hand. Although he does have a team of interns and residents that work with him, it has always been clear to me that he makes all the decisions. The nurses at CTU are wonderful. Although you get a different one each time and they each work differently, they all take good care of you. This is especially true now that, due to COVID 19, patients are not allowed to bring a companion. The staff in radiology is very attentive to your comfort during the procedures. So far I've had 2 CT scans there and they've always explained everything and made sure I was okay. Don't worry about the order in which they call patients. Remember that some people might be there for a different test than you. You will be called in a timely manner. My favorite thing is that whether it's a visit to the doctor, CTU or radiology, if you arrive early they will take you in whenever you arrive. I have hardly ever had to wait a long time except at CTU and that's normal as you have to wait for your doctor to review the labs. I highly recommend UM and Sylvester Cancer Treatment Center.

I had a fantastic experience during my recent treatment through the CTU. They had massages, art, and a chorus that sang to patients. The staff was friendly. Much better experience than I had anywhere else. Thanks so much.

Considering the various difficult reasons you find yourself here, this is an extremely pleasant experience. The staff, from the ground floor to your specific treatment area are fantastic. All the nurses seems to really care. It's always clean, and even though it can be crowded, it's easy to navigate. Valet Parking is required so be sure and ask your receptionist if they validate, most do.

Unfortunately if you have cancer, this is the only place to go in South Florida. An amazing array of doctors who are professional and caring.

My appointment at the Sylvester Cancer Center- University of Miami was recommended by medical friends when my lung cancer was accidentally found. During the appointment, the way Dr. Nestor Villamizar treated me left me surprised. He gave me his diagnostic and when asked what to do to decrease the terrible symptoms I was feeling; his callous response was: "Go with your primary doctor." This dr was unable to understand a cancer patient who was breathing hard, with a swollen face and could barely speak. Thank God the same day I had other appointments with oncologists who gave me the same diagnosis and took care of my condition, offering me excellent professional treatment. Dr. Nestor Villamizar should receive trained in comprehensive patient-friendly treatment and be sure to apply the Hippocratic Oath, mainly in reference to Non-maleficence. It is very unfortunate that Dr. Villamizar set-up the renowned Sylvester Cancer Center at such a low level.

Have tried to make an appointment for a second opinion at the UM Cancer center. Not sure were exactly they hire the people answering the phones. Customer service is non nonexistent, they barely speak proper English or understand it. Made an appointment for 2.11.19 and now they can't find the appointment. Thank god there are more cancer centers in Miami, UM get your house in order. Most likely will stick with the Cancer Center at Mount Sinai in Miami Beach.

Definitely not cutting edge technology. Also in 1 year my father had 4 different oncologists because they seem to go back to their country every 3 months. I didn't feel like he had a "team" to review his case. Each visit was like starting from scratch. Also dr #2 had very little knowledge of Immunotherapy and a horrible bedside manner. Almost through us out for asking questions. If I could do it again, I'd take my dad to MD Anderson or Sloan Kettering in NYC

Doctors seem knowledgable. However, having to pay to park to go to the dr on top of the expensive health care costs and waiting almost 2 hours for a 5-10 min visit is unacceptable. Speaking to a human when calling is nearly impossible. Wrong medication dose sent in, called thursday and did not receive a response or new prescription until the following tuesday.

Sylvester comprehensive and UM are above and beyond specialty care. The portion of the administration that handles patients biometrics, logistics and general well being is outstanding. Quality care at it’s finest. The only complaint I have is with the cafeteria on the NW 12 ave entrance where the old building is located. 10:am you walk in and before you step up to the breakfast bar your told breakfast is over quite firmly. Even though the breakfast bar is full to capacity with eggs, sausage, bacon and other breakfast items. The staff there lack friendly helpful interaction and seem at times to be quite bothered if one takes a bit of time to make a selection. This cafeterias staff apparently does not represent the core values of the institution that houses it or the patients that make the mistake of using it for their convenience. I hope administrators can moderate this issue that causes unnecessary disdain to patrons that may need a kind word and patience with their meal.

UM Sylvester Cancer Center is great if you are being diagnosed and treated for cancer; however, they have a very poor selection of top notch breast reconstruction surgeons. I had a lumpectomy done 12 yrs ago on my left breast and finally decided to have breast reconstruction done. I came out just as bad as I came in. my left breast was never corrected with a lift and the implant is encapsulated. They reduced the right breast and gave it a lift and it is now smaller than the left. I also came out with a long scar underneath the right breast which was unnecessary. When I complained during my post op visit they recognized the errors and said I couldn’t get it corrected until 6 months since the surgeon was all booked up. How messed up is that? Make sure that you DO NOT LET AN INTERN DO THE SURGERY, they tell you that this is a teaching facility but they fail to clarify that the intern may do the surgery instead of the actual surgeon, which I think is what happened to me. I am now looking for a top notch breast surgeon to correct this botched surgery and hope that my insurance will still cover the expense. I will be reporting this to the Joint Commisssion.

It is obvious from the layman's point of view that Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) are UHealth's profit centers. Look, to stand aside and view the foot traffic at these two places, speak volume. Look, remove all brand name clothing and knock offs from our ailing bodies and we are nothing but one mass of undifferentiated sufferers, who wants nothing more than the very least to feel better, and the very most to be cured, while at the same time, keeping our dignity in tact. Congruently, SCCC try to achieve these purposes. At the end of the day, transcendental, stripped of worldly our possession or lack there of, cancer is one of life's greatest leveler and to be able to be given a fighting chance of survival at this great cancer center is more than words can say, because loss of physical independence is a jailed life sentence, and add inability to pay is a death sentence, unequivocally. Imagine, I am poor, feeling the same pain as the rich person sitting over there, the difference is, I am grateful to have the same access to care as they do, and just as blind justice in legal lingo, I appreciate that I am treated first as a human being, second as a patient with unconditional blindness, come what may. So, a little longer wait time, or a missing coffee cup is not going to break my stride because when it comes to the quality of care, I am in the best hands. Suffice it to say, cleanliness is next to Godliness and Uhealth's facilities meet that benchmark.

My husband has been a patient here for 1wk now and I must say the entire medical staff here are INCREDIBLE! They have been the most professional, kind, helpful, patient and caring group of caregivers I have ever encountered. I absolutely LOVE and APPRECIATE their ability and willingness to make this journey we're on, as comfortable and pleasant (even under such circumstances) as humanly possible. Thank You Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center for making a most difficult time for families easier!

Went to the kiosk and registered and for the front desk to print out my rust band took 25 minutes. Then after that while waiting for my ultrasound 2 people that came in before me were taken in 1st. Then I had to wait over an hour for them to take me in. I rather go somewhere else next time for my ultrasound.

Not even in the top 10 cancer centers in the USA. be your own advocate. Ask questions. Rely on Google because these doctors only care about the treatment not the cure and won't disclose to you the horrible side effects of radiation and chemo that causes cancer to return with a vengeance. Some.of the worst nurses assisting the doctors as well. I won't name names. But they know who they are. Ignorant. They don't return phone calls or send information to the patient when they say they will. Ask your doctor as many questions as you can. Seek many opinions from other cancer places as many as you can and compare. Don't fall victim like so many have and then regret to change. It's your life. You take control and make the decisions. Itsball about the.money. They don't care about anyone. Look out for younger dr.s. make sure they don't sweet talk you like it's not a big deal. It is a big deal. It's cancer.GET SECOND OPINIONS. ASK WHAT SIDE EFFECTS THE RADIATION CAN CAUSE.STATISTICS SHOW CANCER ALWAYS COMES BACK. AND THE DR.S SAY. WE DON'T KNOW WHY. THEY KNOW WHY. THEY NEED TO DO MORE FREQUENT PET SCANS AND TALK TO THE PATIENT AND LET THEM KNOW WHAT COULD POSSIBLY HAPPEN AFTER TREATMENT. ..AGAIN BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE. LEARN LEARN AND MORE.LEARN. THEN ASK QUESTIONS. how can a Dr. Who has years of experience watch one of his patients that he has had under his care for years go from stage 1 to stage 4 while under his care?????? How does he sleep at night knowing this??? WE ARE TALKING ABOUT OUR LOVED ONES, WE TRUSTED THE DR.S TO HELP AND GUIDE US THROUGH. AND THEY LET US DOWN.

The center is convenience and close for the area of my home. Most of my doctors there are good. I hate the wait time for some appointments. For a disabled person it can become stressful and exhausting. Some of the staff are not caring and attentive, but i trust most of my doctors. There has been problems to reach my physicians, to get follow up and feedback to my primary physician from the specialist. There is no communication between them dealing with my health and wellness. I have spent to much time getting referrals done, getting documentations and lab to physicians that needed the information for my health issues in a timely manner. It seems health services has deteriorated over the years and patients are at risk.

In CTU where cancer patients have to sit for hours to get their chemo. The tv's aren't always working, the patient recliner chairs are lumpy and uncomfortable and in the lobby area the coffee machines on both the ground and 2nd floor are usually broken, not repaired and maintained regularly. So in addition to the difficulty of battling cancer, the patients don't have the comfort of these things to aid in their comfort during the treatment process. So disappointing and unfortunate. They deserve better.

Was treated at 2 top notch University research facilities before coming here, DO NOT come here, this place doesn’t have any form of professionalism nor a clue what they are doing!! They are a dangerous place as they do not administer correct medication!! The risk of dying due to wrong meds. or negating to even give them properly is a problem with this place. They are disorganized, lose records, lie to cover their butts when needed and don’t follow thru with treatments needed. They aggravation to babysit this place is more then anyone should have to deal with! Don’t waist your time or your life! Follow up post reflecting final results: Had further experiences with the physicians trying to correct the suffering they have inflicted. Very little was actually done, more to cover their mistakes, and their resolve was the Chief of Dept.remarked that all they could do is apologize for the inadequacy and suffering caused by this place. Their theatment plans are antiquated and you will find your self more informed on treatments then they are. Not feeling confident or secure with this facility nor the physicians/interns, you never know who’s actually treating you. The interns are allowed to act as though they are your Dr., they make choices about meds. and treatments which aren’t questioned or corrected by Dr. Very unprofessional and inadequate facility and physicians. Their policies are NOT created to benefit the comfort of the patients.

Dr. Albert Lockhart is the most comprehensive, knowledgeable, compassionate, humble and open-minded physician I have met since my father’s diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. We drove a long way to see him and I would make that drive every day for my father to be treated that way from now on. From the very start with scheduling, to the insurance authorization and the gathering of medical records, even the nurse navigator Lordes was beyond helpful. It was a first-class experience during one of the most painful processes in life of a terminal diagnosis. Every doctors office and medical center should take a cue from Dr. Lockhart and his dedicated staff. This is what healthcare should be. I would recommend to anyone facing a similar situation, though I hope no one does, but sadly pancreatic cancer is common and caught late stage. Only suggestion, the valet area should offer wheelchairs so we don’t have to wrestle ours out of our cars...

All i can say is watch out for cancer dr. J. P. And his partner cancer radiologost dr. W. ... They misdiagnose, do not follow up properly and end up makin patients cancer progress instead of catching the disease before it spreads.dont be fooled by sweet talkers. They do not care. They want $$$$ that's it. To many cancer patients are progressing because these cancer doctors are not doing proper tests and care.WE ARE NOT THE DR. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO RELY ON GOOGLE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS, THEY SHOULD EDUCATE THEIR PATIENTS AND USE THE TOOLS THEY WERE TAUGHT. IF YOUR NOT GOING TO HELP YOUR PATIENTS THEN HANG UP YOUR WHITE COAT AND RETIRE. BECAUSE YOUR DESTROYING INNOCENT LIVES.

Like every other hospital, you deal with many many different nurses and different staff members. I have been a patient of this center since July 2015 and the only complain i ever had was when one person tried 7 times to get a catheter in my veins and couldnt and did not show he cared about the patient, and continued to stick me. :( I have been through a whole lot and with the doctors that attended me and the nurses that assisted, my treatment for a rare grayzone lymphoma and then a stem cell transplant went very well and very smooth!!!!! I have waited a whole year to leave this review just to see if things change, and make sure im leaving the right review. I highly recommend this hospital to anyone dealing with something similar. It sucks to say but i enjoyed being treated by the persons at this location!

Would give this place zero stars if I could. I scheduled an appointment at 1030am and was told to arrive at 10am given that I was a new patient. I was not called in until after 2pm to see the doctor. I was called into another waiting room where they had me wait again to see a nurse and then when I said I had to leave for another appointment they had me come in and see the doctor. I had a Pap smear. We know the process, it’s far from a pleasant experience. I was supposed to see my results online thru the portal within a week. 2 weeks passed and nothing posted. I stared to call the office but kept reaching machines. Left a message for the nurse and received NO callback. I had to go through another office to get someone on the phone to speak to. Let me sum it up. My results were nowhere to be found. First hey said the lab lost them. Then someone called me to tell me they tossed them because they “felt I didn’t need a pap smear since I had one done last year a few months back”. Umm hello!? Who are they to make that decision? I was incredibly beyond unpleased with them.

I arrived to valet parking in Sylvester Hospital, and a guy name JOSE told me to look for him when I was done, but he didn't give me any ticket. When I was asked for my ticket to validate it upstairs, I couldn't! JOSE never gave me one so he could pocket whatever money I give him. At the end I finish paying JOSE $10.00 because thats the only bill i have ( he told me, no change). Thats embarasing!!! This is not his personal business. Sylvester should check that, this guy should not work there, and whoever is helping him to do that.

I went to see Dr. San Mateo, I was the first appointment at noon. The staff was really nice and helpful. The building is extremely clean. After waiting 30 min and complaining to leave the ARNP came to assess me, she told me the MD would be with me in 5 min. 1pm came the doctor never arrived so i left. That was my first and last time going to Sylvester. I do not recommend this Doctor at all and I work at University of Miami Hospital. The ARNP did call me when she found out I left but the right thing would of been to have the doctor himself call to apologize.

Do not trust Dr. Leibowitz. If he recommends surgery, run for your life. Not only did he perform an unnecessary surgery, but also botched it. After the surgery I went to Moffitt with reference to my follow-up treatment. The attending physician told me, "Sloan Kettering,MD Anderson and Moffitt are the only three cancer treatment centers recognized by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Not one of these three institutions would have done surgery based on your biopsy."

My wife was treated at SCCC for stage IV kidney cancer. I would not consider SCCC as one of my choices to treat a love one. An appointment to see a Dr. is never on time. It would take between 3 and 4 hours to see the Dr. or the Dr. assistant. Waiting 3 to 4 hours for a cancer patient is torture, it is inhumane. In our case there was a clinical trial, after that there were no clinical trials. The patient care at the UM hospital is deplorable and they don't communicate with the oncologists at SCCC, although they are part of the same system and physically located across the street. The oncologist could care less that you love one is at UM and UM Drs. behave the same way. additionally, UM hospital is a training ground for the miller school of medicine, you see a lot of students coming through and asking questions but you will never get an answer or a follow up. Trying to get in touch with your Oncologist for any reason is an impossibility. They are the typical latin bureaucrats. Surround yourself with people who don't allow access to the Oncologist and never reply to the patient phone calls or emails. Unfortunately when you see them face to face is the same old latin excuses, they try to tell you what you want to hear, knowing very well they are misleading you. I would not recommend SCCC to anybody. You are better off going to Mount Sinai, The Miami Cancer Institute at Baptist or Cleveland clinic in weston. If you have the financial means go to Memorial Sloan Kettering in NY, MD Anderson in Houston, Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa or Cleveland clinic in Cleveland. Please do your love ones a favor and stay away from the UM/SCCC Health system. If you want deplorable patient Care SCCC and the UM hospital are the right place to go.
