The phlebotomy department opens just after 8.30am regardless of what any formal appointment letters state. Parking not too bad but not all machines work so can be a challenge

I had to go there today for a flexible cystoscopy. I wasn’t sure where in the hospital I had to go, so I asked the receptionist in the main building. She directed me to where I needed to be, and I mad my way there. Another receptionist, answered questions, told to take a seat, but before I could, I was called to a cubicle where I was asked a few more questions. Then on to the examination room where I was introduced to the doctors. From the moment I arrived at the hospital, to the moment I left. Every member of staff I had contact with was courteous and helpful. I was made to feel completely at ease.

Had to visit A&E earlier this week. Everyone was simply amazing. A true credit to themselves, the NHS, the team, and an inspiration. Despite current challenges the service, help and care was tremendous and exemplary. My sincere and heartfelt thanks to all and everyone. True example to us all.

I was told by 111 to report to A&E at the PRH last Monday early evening about 8pm. Everyone was SO gentle, efficient and thoughtful and the tests that they carried out were comprehensive. After three hours they let me return home and called my husband to return with the car. I was extremely nervous because of the present covid situation, but everything was dealt with very carefully and I felt very safe, even though my husband was not permitted to stay with me. For those of us who are used to the 'normal' arrangements I must praise everyone for making this as comfortable as possible for me as I have now been shielding for some eleven months. Thank you x

Day Surgery Unit: My friend arrived the required 5 minutes before the appointment and the receptionist was not answering the bell for 10 minutes (so now my friend was officially late for the appointment), so he had to wait for a member of staff to come into the building and inform the receptionist he was outside. Then the receptionist nonchalantly said that "the bell was not working". However my friend had looked through the window and clearly the receptionist could see he had been waiting outside the whole time and and pacing anxiously as the appointment time was being missing through not fault of his own.

From an ex ocular cancer patient! I can only give the hospital one star due to an incident that took place nearly 4 years ago! The staff but mainly down to a ignorant consultant called Rowland Cottingham handled things badly in connection with my care over the weekend of July 15 2017! Taking all of the facts into consideration I really do not know how this man could hold down the position of authority he appeared to have at the time! Other members of staff were also to blame for my non existent attention. I got a ride in a nice shiny police car back to the hospital from my house for daring to leave the hospital after I got fed up with waiting for a free mental health check provided by the hospital after having waited some 36 hours for a team to turn up and I had not been able to sleep for nearly 48 hours and they knew it and I had not been able to have a change of clothes or wash properly or even take a shower! At approximately one in the morning I then had to steel myself for a mental health assessment lasting approx 1 hour which wasn't easy when you are faced with a social worker and 2 section 12 psychiatrists, one of whom was a bully, but, hey, at that time of the day, I wasn't in any position to argue! My own GP has never been able to face up to me since cos he had input into the hospital. Shame on him for the present! I have been assured that things have been improved ! I hope so cos that weekend was a complete write off as far as I was concerned and I am still angry even now after what I now look back at as a weekend that was totally shambolic! I did get a very belated full apology from Dr. Haigh by the way, in case anyone reading this thought I was making the whole thing up! I wouldn't have thought that this scenario would have taken place what with me being a former ocular cancer patient who then goes and has a row with his partner and then, because of the type of cancer it was, the authorities go and jump to the wrong conclusion and call in the mental people completely unfounded! History has proved that they backed the wrong person cos after getting on for 11 years since having to have my left eyeball surgically removed folks, I am unfortunately for them, still around to tell this true story! Shame on them, I say! Oh, yes, I turned 70 years of age back in July of this year! Hey, we're NOT all crazy now! Some of us baby boomers actually enjoy life!

Awful service, very dirty and no one wants to take any responsibility. Sadly this is what the vast majority of NHS hospitals are like these days I’ve literally been to better hospitals in 3rd world countries. It’s not the doctors and nurses it’s the NHS itself, it’s awful and crumbling this hospital really highlights that.

A very busy place, but everyone I came into contact with among the staff including reception was extremely helpful and caring. Particular thanks to everybody in the CT department who made what I was expecting to be a scary experience, so comfortable. I would have given five stars, except that I was not notified that the department I had been advised to go to in my confirmation letter had problems with their scanner, so I had quite a walk back to the department that took over. I discovered I was not the only patient who had not received the message we were supposed to have been sent.

Awful staff. How dr chowdhury and his anaesthetic team have employment is beyond amazement. We have pre op checks to determine certain factors. To see if there is a family history of anything serious, they did not think to do this at any point, only and only when im due to be operated on there and then they tell me they cannot because of family health...absolute joke of an excuse, you had all the time to check and inform me, the added trauma and pain i now have to live with because of your incompetence, just think of the bill growing in court guys ;) seems the only way to get my surgery is by thowing myself in front of a bus !

Such an amazing hospital, I am currently under the care of the maternity department. It is not my closest hospital but more than happy to travel here for the A+ care I receive. Everyone from the volunteers, admin, HCA's, midwives, diabetic team, sonographer's and doctors are so friendly and efficient. I am always well informed and involved in decisions, all done with the friendliest approach. An excellent example of different professionals working well together, thank you.

I have been to this hospital several times and only few times I can say it was pleasant. The rest were awful! Staff are rude and unprofessional most of the time. If I could list my horror experiences this review would be too long but I've had some real shocking stories in regard to how I've been treated in this hospital in 4 different departments (nuerology, CT X-ray, a&e and operations) at different times! Not a case of bad luck on the wrong day. It happens almost all the time! Wish I could a avoid but my nueroligist from Brighton sends me up here when she feels it's needed. Honestly the worse hospital I've ever been in and even had the unfortunate situation of staying in one time. Wonderful café though.

I attended the orthopaedic and trauma clinic on time, 1.30pm. I was asked to confirm my name, address, surgery, age, home phone and mobile. Then I was told that there was a 2 hour delay as the consultant was delayed in the operating theatre. The consultant that I was expecting to see wasn't even on duty. That person had undertaken the first type of operation that she had done and wanted to see me for follow up. So I had been let down twice. No one said that the person I was expecting to see wasn't there and no one, despite having my mobile mobile, told me there was a 2 hour delay. What's the point of asking for a patient's phone numbers and then ignoring them if there's a problem?? Haywards Heath: you deserve zero out of 10 on this occasion.

First time here at Princess Royal. I was impressed by the way it's laid out and the great signage which is easy to follow. Staff are approachable and friendly. Appointment was on time and so had time to look at the shop and cafe which had everything you need for a visit to a hospital. There's also a really good Restuarant Bluebells here as well on the second floor that's worth a visit if you want a meal.

Had to take my 9 year old daughter to the hospital today and I came away massively impressed by the way it was run. Everyone I came into contact with was friendly, efficient and helpful. This applied to the receptionists, the doctors, the support staff and even the cafe and car park staff. It was my daughter's first trip to A and E, so I was particularly inpressed by the gentle way the doctor (Portia) dealt with her.

I have had 2 beautiful children here and it has been the best experience. Respect to all the staff. Could do with some aircon if im honest but you can't have it all. ????????

Following an astonishing series of unsatisfactory (sometimes disastrous and extremely painful) experiences, a relative took things into her own hands and, instead of calling an ambulance, personally delivered me to A&E here at Haywards Heath. The attention was exemplary, the team-work exactly what it should be, and I'm now well on the way to avoiding future emergency admissions -- as distinct from the quick-fix targeted, in-out and to hell with the outcome that I'd been obliged to put up with. Well done to everyone at the Princess Royal. You represent what healthcare should be about.

The A&E department can be a veritable reptile house, a snake pit possesses by monstrous small town mentality.small town big hell as the Mexicans say. How true! I entered that place with a condition that proved to be pancreatitis. I couldn't even hold down small sips of water. I knew I was seriously ill but not according to doctor misdiagnosis. " it's not serious. I'll be the judge of that. A nice cup of tea and a pill for indigestion and you'll be on your way." Of course I realise that this is purely self-inflicted, alcohol induced, that I'm blocking the bed of someone more deserving. A dying person? I'm dying. No, I don't desire sympathy, empathy, or god forbid that most contemptible of human sentients pity. But then nor do I expect scathing condemnation, character assassination, the accused in a kangaroo court without counsel. The ringleader materialises. The charge nurse? A person anyway of importance and power who thinks she knows me, knows my mum. A mousey haired mean faced woman with a cackling booming voice for all to hear. She spreads her virus of loathing infecting many(not all) of the medics and nurses around. They gleefully collude, debating my vile personality, my wasted pitiful degenerate life, quoting apparent lines from my mum( bringing someone's mum into the equation. Their vile!). They approve of my vomiting. There is justice in the world after all. They hope I have terminal cancer. That will teach him. I just lie there soaking it all up waiting to be transferred to the cosmopolitan and freethinking hospital in Brighton where no moral judgements are made and the nurses really are angels devoid of dirty faces. So the Hippocratic oath has passed them by. They don't realise that the most important tenet in that beautifully compassionate doctrine after confidentiality is benevolence. No moral judgements here. I truly doubt whether they abide by the privacy clause. In my dreams and greatest fantasies it is all Rubble, razed to the ground, a towering inferno like Norte dame, the flames licking at all the cockroaches scuttling for safety, their mighty moral compass reduced to ashes. As for me. I'll just be sat there watching, with a nice cup of tea.

This hospital treated my now deceased father appallingly. He died in their care and I have no doubt that he would have lived for longer if there had been proper organisation. There was no cohesion between staff, we were not kept up to date with his care and in his final week alive we were blocked from seeing him due to a virus on his ward. My father wasn't treated with any dignity and due to the huge amount of different incompetent people involved in his care it was in the end impossible to blame anyone other than the shambles that is the NHS. I would never allow someone I care about to be admitted to this hospital for as long as I live and will remember their poor treatment for the rest of my life. When we were told that he had died we were told that they had 'a bit of bad news for us.' When someone treats you poorly in life, at least you can complain or hold someone accountable. My family has been left with a lot of pain and hatred but with no avenue to turn to.

The most horrible experience I've ever had in a hospital . After calling 111 backwards and forward 7 hours on they've got me an appointment at The Princess Royal hospital in Haywards Heath , I live in Horsham ( west Sussex) , seen the doctor, explained I've got an ovarian pain and going to toilet so often , the urine result said I've got an infection. He prescribed me the antibiotic, got the prescription and went back to Horsham straight to pharmacy, luckily / unluckily on that prescription which wasn't mine they did not had the right medication and then we've discovered the prescription was for a 4 years old boy . Then the fun began, calling the hospital, calling 111 back , spoke to at least 3 guys trying to sort it out , they were asking to drive back to the hospital!!!! Such incompetence, so unbelievable. They couldn't fax it either to a nearest pharmacy, by the time we were talking and sorting out Sainsbury's pharmacy closed, was only one pharmacy still open. Eventually got the prescrition via computer and got my antibiotics. I would say such precious antibiotics as for the last 16hours I've been in agony. I wish I could take it to the press all this !!!

A great hospital and filled with friendly people and lovely food! I sometimes go there when epileptic. I had a Grand Mand and was confused I asked my family to take me! In fact, my family find it difficult to look after me when I tell the people in hospital: it wasn't a bad fit I'd like to go home! Wish I had never been confused to leave the hospital!

This great hospital aims to help the community but it has been facing severe shortages of staff. This old building is very inefficient by modern standards, it is time for the Sussex community to have the good hospital with proper staffing levels that it deserves.
