I was reluctantly admitted to The Priory Hospital - Altrincham in October 2109 and I can honestly say through that my life has been transformed! I wasn't an alcoholic and didn't need help! Until I entered The Priory, the ATP (Addiction Treatment Program) team and the other hospital staff helped me to see the mess my life was in and what the cause of that was - yes I was an alcoholic! By listening to the ATP team (who are experienced recovered addicts) I was led to the AA program of 12 steps, by putting in the action and changing things little by little I now have a life that is amazing. An awesome part of The Priory program for addiction is the aftercare - meetings for me and my family. For the addict like me, we have all been through the hospital and can help each other through our experiences, one meeting is a mixed meeting and one is male/female only. The family have a group of people who have had an addict in their family and are able to share and help each other. Together we can see the wood through the trees! It is so worth it - one of the best things I have ever done - thank you ATP team and hospital staff :)

The Priory Hospital saved my life. I stayed as an inpatient for 28 days on the ATP (Addiction Treatment Programme) in September 2019. I was diagnosed with Depression whilst there and received the very best treatment with my Consultant at the hospital. The 28 day stay taught me everything about Addiction and how to recover from the hopeless state of addiction. The ATP therapists are amazing. The daily activities, 7 days a week, educated me, gave me hope, showed me how to live my life without any mind altering drugs and gave my whole family hope. The aftercare meetings I attend are invaluable. 2 meetings a week with the ATP staff and other ex Priory residents, where we continue to talk and work on our recovery. Overall, the Priory Hospital is the place to go, if you need help. In terms of facilities...I had a lovely single room, 3 square meals a day and I felt safe and supported at all times. This environment enabled me to turn my life around. I am so grateful to the Priory Hospital and the ATP therapists...they really did save my life.

Was prescribed medications I should not have been prescribed. Experienced horrific side effects from the various "medications" I was prescribed and also became addicted to and experienced withdrawal symptoms from a "medication". Overall my mental health has become worse as a result of going to the Priory. I strongly advise you save your money/health/life and don't go here. At the end of the day there is no current cures to mental illness and lifestyle changes/diet/exercise can give you benefits but without the risks. I just wish I hadn't made the mistake of going to the Priory. Its a business at the end of the day and a lot of people have been harmed by it. Self care and self help are free and risk free and can potentially have great benefits. I'd warn against going to the Priory and taking the various pills they're all to willing to give you (without explaining the risks or giving you any advice on how to take and more importantly how to stop taking). And after all this I tried to talk to Dr Haslam about this and his secretary said I couldn't talk to him and basically needed to go elsewhere. I wish I didn't have to go through what they've put me through. But if I can save one person by stopping you going here, it was in some way worth it to protect you. Don't go to the Priory.

I am an alcoholic and was admitted to The Priory in January 2021 for rehabilitation for a period of 28 days. Whilst, like many others, I did not wish to go, the experience has however, changed my life. I am so grateful to all at The Priory, from the ward staff, the medical staff and most importantly for me, the amazing therapists in the addiction treatment programme. All patients are treated with the utmost respect, dignity and curtesy and every therapist goes the extra mile to ensure each individual patient is offered every benefit the programme has to offer. Although it is early days into my recovery, I wish to place on record my grateful thanks to everyone at The Priory for a chance to live a better life without alcohol.

I was a paitent here last year for addiction treatment and with some mental health conditions as well the care I recieved was impecable. The consultant I saw dealt with both my mental health and addiction as equally important to ensure I recieved the correct treatment. The nursing staff on the ward were kind and attentive despite being busy and I can't fault them. I spent the majority of my time there in group and individual therapy sessions for my addiction with the addiction therapy team. Each staff member of ATP cared about my recovery and demonstrated it with kindess and understanding. They taught me about addiction at the rate I could learn at, they were paitent and tolerant with me as I began to learn. Most of all, they had hope that I could feel better and that meant a lot to me. I can confidently say I wouldn't be where I am today without The Priory. I can also confidently say that if you're looking at google reviews to see what your food is going to be like or what games you're going to play there then maybe book a holiday instead as people who are critiquing these clearly didn't go in to soley get themselves well.

I was booked in for 1 week by my wife after a referral from my doctor to get some therapy to help with my anxiety, I was told to arrive on Sunday 10am arrived at 9.30am as travelled from 2 hours away. Was sat in room until 11.30am before I was seen to book in. Placed in a room looking like a cell and my bag was emptied by 2 nurses checking all my pockets and making me feel like a criminal. I was then serve an cold overcooked Sunday lunch and left to my own device the all day, I played pool for 3 hours by myself, watch a dvd in the room where other patients were sat, the film had to be stopped due to the scratch dvd, then went for dinner at 5 and had the worse chicken salad ever, then met a group of patients who organised their own quiz. Went to bed at 10pm and had to be woken up every 15minutes through the night. I decided to barricade myself in the room to try to get some sleep. The next day I got up in my own time went for breakfast and went to the main nurse what the plan or the structure of my stay was and was told that he didn’t know and would have to wait to see a doctor at 11am. I decided to discharge myself as for £6500 per week I expected a lot more they still charged me £900 for that useless day!!! For anyone wanted to book in to any Priory please realise that it is not what the website is selling you!! It is a scam and they will not offer you any 1 to 1 therapy it is only group talk apparently!! Stay at home and book a private therapist for 6 hours a day it will only cost you £350. After being told that they would refund me £5634.00 the next day I am still waiting for my money back.

Was prescribed Diazepam even though I have depression/suicidal thoughts/a history of addiction all of which it says are reasons why you shouldn't take the drug on the leaflet given with the "medication". I payed £160 to be prescribed a drug which gave me horrific side effects and withdrawal symptoms which I'm still experiencing. I should not have been prescribed this medication. The Priory is a business, its there to make money, they profit from vulnerable and desperate people and that disgusts me. Don't bother going here, just try and develop a healthy lifestyle, which is free and comes with no side effects. Diet/exercise are better than talking about your problems with someone who doesn't care about you and taking pills which can give you horrific side effects. I've been prescribed over a dozen medications, none of which have worked. Don't go to the Priory, self help is best. You can waste thousands of pounds and end up worse than you were to start off with. Let what I've been through be a lesson for you.

They wrongly prescribe you medication which damages mental health then when you write a bad review they give you a copied and pasted response... This is the Priory summed up. Don't go here. They don't care.

I can only speak as an outpatient, but I have only good thinks to say about my experiences. My consultant has been excellent with regards to considering and talking through my treatment options in a pragmatic way, and has been extremely good about following up or being available at short notice if I needed to speak with him. The whole experience has been very good, with both the secretarial and receptionist staff being extremely effective and helpful. I am truly grateful for the great care I have received.

DISGUSTED WORRIED SICKENING Rang on tue to find out about my loved one was told that would get call bac on Friday now still no call , worried sick and disgusted by the service paying 600 a day for treatment, being a private institution it’s seems like they are more interested in your money than your loved ones and getting them back home to safety and sanity. This is ran purely as a business and all they care about is your money. If you care for your loved ones then I beg you avoid at all costs. I’m sat here worried sick and pulling my hair out and can’t describe how I feel, I am in utter disparity and can’t belive that I have sent my loved ones to ppl who are more intrstrd in money that their patients health . Sickening sickening sickening .

I saw an excellent consultant here, very good. I'm glad I had insurance though, as it works out £4 per minute!

Extremely disappointed with the service and attitude of staff. Due to a poor booking system, lack of information provided and communication, the issue that we first attended the priory was actually made worse because of our experience we had with them
