Nice place, well spacious inside. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only downside for me was lack of choice in the real ale department. Other than that, I enjoyed my visit.

Just been here for the first time, fantastic food and friendly staff. Currently running a reduced menu due to covid19 but was a good enough menu to choose from. Well cooked food and partner was happy with his Guinness.

The Merchant is the best of a bad choice on the high street. If you are going there for a quick drink please DO NOT order cocktails. After a 56 minute wait the drinks arrived. I have previously visited the establishment and had a similar experience. I wish I could have said the service I received was due to the fact that it was peak time. However this sadly was not the case. The bar was empty and there were no pending food orders. I boosted my rating from a single star 'hated it' to a two star rating 'disliked it' as there was variety of music playing to cater for a wide audience.

Love the food here. Especially the burgers! It's been done out too, love it. You can have monster munch on a burger! Or cheesy whatsists! Tastes like real flame grilled burger. Never disappointed.

Bit dissapointed today. Third time we've been in for food. First 2 times you couldn't fault it. Today no chips no steak and Ale pie, peas dried up. Got meals but had to ask for salt tarta sauce after meals arrived. Then came B & B. No butter so had to find staff to ask for some. Staff seemed to be racing around.

2 of us Went to have a all day breakfast and told at 11 45am no breakfasts left a tip for you don't advertise 'all day' if you can't supply ended up with burgers which were OK but I could have got that at Mcdonalds, poor

We entered the Merchant cautiously following the poor quality and attitude of other Cannock establishments wholly expecting to experience the same.
We were surprised to find a happy, helpful and energetic team who genuinely felt for our well being and opinion of the establishment.
It was clean, well managed and socially warm and welcoming.
The staff went on to further surpass expectations.
A welcome smile, a bit of banter and a fantastic pint is something I've not experienced locally before in one night, not to this excess and consistency.
The food on offer again was beyond our expectations, and once ordered, proved to be as described in the menu. Service was fast and delivered to a high standard.
Special thanks to Sammy the bar made who made us feel welcome and happy to accommodate the bar for repeat refills (the point of a successful bar is repeat purchase)
She was polite, helpful and intuitive, showing a genuine concern for our experience and opinion.
Also Anna, the senior member who took time to talk to us and look after us. We have booked a group Christmas Day meal booking instinctively and wholey based upon our experience. Fantastic.

Merchant cannock staff friendly, efficient, cheerful, and smart, eating area clean and well managed after eating, the atmosphere is just lovey people laughing, children a little noisy but added to the family atmosphere breakfast well cooked allways hot and staff happy to add or take away items not wanted love this place.

Could do with the heating being monitored as in morning times it appears to be off as quite a few people are having to wear there jackets.
Other than the cold experience it's ok just remember if it cold and your serving food that also goes cold as well.

Food mediocre limited choice, nothing partic for vegetarians.I suppose to be fair food is usual for this type of eatery pre packaged microwavable cheap. Seating at front fine but a bit shabby at back of pub. On a positive staff friendly and helpful and coffee good.
