Came here for a christening. Nice private place was divided off for us. They forgot my gluten free options in the buffet but once it arrive the food was good.

Went today. Staff stood talking whilst people waited to be served. One poor lady who was cleaning tables etc rushed off her feet was lovely. Staff didn't smile, say hello or bye. Staff on tjete phones, chatting at one end of the bar... :/ Small portions for the money buy it was nice.

We have used the merchant pub for 25 years and not missed many days in that time and it's better now than ever staff brilliant we go to Aberystwyth quite a lot and use the WHITE HORSE PUB there that is excellent also

Bathrooms not very clean and not very well stocked of toilet paper and tiny cubicles and no disabled or baby change facility that we could find. Food isn't the best. Burger was lovely however lasagna tasted like a smart price ready meal, not much taste. Large salad portion though. No salad dressing. Good service, friendly staff. Tea and hot chocolate was lovely however Pepsi tastes rather watered down. Food hot so rather mixed review overall.

Fantastic service and really good value for money, coffee came 2-3 minutes after ordering and food came 10-15 minutes after that! Muffin was a little small but you get what you pay for, will be going back (edit) the muffin was small but tasty!

Good pub, with good food - typical city centre pub fayre, so daily offers for different meals. Drinks inexpensive, nice layout and have a good few music nights (typically tribute acts). I always describe it as like Wetherspoons but with less sticky floors. Worth dropping into.

Not impressed unfortunately, we had a pie which was very hard with minimum amount of beef inside, the crust hard as a rock. The vegetables, mash and beer was alright but again nothing extraordinary. Staff was ok but only ok.

Would never go back again! I went for a meal with my fiancé and friends I booked our table weeks prior for half 7 and they sat us right by the front door, on really tall table that is just meant to be for drinks we asked to move table because we wasn’t going to be able to eat our food. Then when ordering drinks it took at least half an hour to be served, it wasn’t that busy there was only one person serving, it took us that long to order drinks we picked and order food at the same time because we didn’t think we would get served again. Once the food arrived they turned down the lights and started a disco and it was only half 8 we couldn’t see our food or talk to each other because the music was so loud. Also when ordering our drinks the bartender said she will bring them to our table, we had waited and all eaten our food before our drinks arrived despite asking serveral times where our drinks were. I would never go back again and wouldn’t recommend appalling service!
