Most of the enclosures were closed but they still charged full price, complete rip off.

Lovely wee zoo but the hedges etc are high meaning that young children or wheelchair users are unable to see into some enclosures properly. Viewing areas may have had to be altered due to one way system currently in place.Good Covid measures in places. Very steep hills would be difficult for those with limited mobility.

Very hilly zoo so for less abled may be an issue. Elephants did not look overly happy in their enclosure. Could do with some updating, parts looking very shabby.

An all-round great zoo with nice views of Belfast, be sure to go on a dry day but it's brilliant for kids with a new education centre that'll answer all their questions.

Its one of the oldest zoo in UK wherein animals have been brought from different parts of world. Good to see tamarin tapir lemurs all in one place.

Given that covid restrictions are in place they are doing a great job and you get to still see a lot of the animals.

If it's your first time here don't judge it too quickly. The bottom part by the entrance is a bit odd because they have something like a squirrel habitat and it's hard to see. Walk up the hill and you'll see some really great enclosures for the animals.

Very good day, think my partner enjoyed it more than myself and our son though ???? One way system is good with most people sticking to it and the booking system only allows a limited number of people in. This seems to keep the numbers manageable, ice-cream van at the park and the restaurant is open to. Well worth a visit.

This Zoo is a workout! Be prepared for a hike as the zoo is located on Cavehill and has some steep paved trails. Very beautiful location and a great variety of the usual suspects, i.e. Zebras, Giraffes, Elephants. They also have some animals I have never seen at zoos on my travels around the US, and Central America, i.e. Red Pandas, Red Fox. We arrived early in the day and in January, so many animals were still staying warm in their hay beds. Id recommend coming a little later when it has warmed up. One downside was most the glass was very dirty making it difficult to see the animals with any sort of glare. One positive note about the off season visit, is within 2 hours of walking around the entire zoo, we only saw 2 other groups of people. Very peaceful and the animals seemed to be more alert to our presence versus normal zoo situations with too many people and kids tapping on the glass.

I have visited this zoo many times, if your an animal lover like myself this is a must go, although the cleanliness of some the animals' facilities are in need of some updating or a good clean. Part from that it's a lovely day out for everyone.

Been a few years since we last visited. A lot of the enclosures very overgrown couldn't view the penguins though the underwater window as water was murky and glass quite green. Wasps everywhere which you expect in August but still unpleasant. Overall an ok day out the girls enjoyed seeing the different animals just not all the hills they had to climb but that was just them being lazy. On that note there is a buggy type vehicle which was taking people about but only seen it once in quite a few hours.

A zoo based upon conservation of animals covering a vast area. Well laid out site with lots to see. Only downside is the hills. Some are very steep although there are plenty of rest areas around the zoo.Treetop cafe offers snacks and refreshments at the very top of the site. Highly recommended.

The new one way system is very well done and the place was very clean. The face mask rule isn't enforced but highly recommended inside. We were told that the chimp and gorilla enclosures were closed but people were still entering making us believe that they were not. We were still unsure if they were open or closed. The wasps are still a problem which makes this a three star more than anything. They have tried to stem the tide of the beasts with wasp traps but they still circle everywhere. Overall it is still a good experience and a fantastic walk/workout but I would find it a lot more enjoyable without having to run from wasps every few metres

Not a bad zoo as far as zoos go. I still feel sorry for the animals. Especially any with slight intelligence. Very hilly. Was a work out pushing my Dad around. Even dropped him once ????

Although there were a few areas not open, I am still giving 5 Star's. It's not the fault of the zoo; measures are put in place to keep customers and staff safe due to the current Covid situation. We felt very happy that the zoo was a safe place due to all the procedures that were put in place: a one way system, some indoor places closed and cafés offering take-a-way service. The restroom facilities were attended to regularly and were clean. To make sure the zoo is not too crowded and to prevent people being turned away if it does, you do have to book in advance before your visit; we booked the day before. You have time slots in which to arrive so they don't have everybody turning up at the same time and a crowd of people walking around together! The one way system ensures you don't miss anything (they should keep it for those who want to see everything and not accidentally miss anything out!) We had a super day.

A great day out, not a cheap day out lol, nice facilities and large enclosures staff are friendly and knowledgable £13 for an adult £6.50 for child under 4 go free, they do a family ticket for £35 , as I said not cheap, it’s all uphill so a good workout could see issues if you were requiring a wheelchair as it’s a steep gradient. What can I say lots of animals kids loved it plenty of picnic tables a nice way to spend the day.

Good Zoo. Built on the side of a mountain so might be difficult for older people to get to the very top. Belfast Zoo is one of the top fee-paying visitor attractions in Northern Ireland, receiving more than 300,000 visitors a year. Located in north Belfast, the zoo's 55-acre (22 ha) site is home to more than 1,200 animals and 140 species. The majority of the animals in Belfast Zoo are in danger in their natural habitat. The zoo carries out important conservation work and takes part in over 90 European and international breeding programmes which help to ensure the survival of many species under threat.

I am only giving three stars because I'm on my way home with two distraught children because the Zoos gift shop was closed early. It was a trip out for my daughters 11th birthday tomorrow. We enjoyed seeing all the animals that we could see and loved the fact that it was a one way system. We were able to see without people pushing in front. The closing of the shop was the only downfall as my kids couldnt get anything with birthday money or pocket money.

Good selection of animals. The Chimpanzee and Gorilla keeper talks were very good, though the penguin and sealion ones were just feeding, not talks as advertised. The sealion feed was entertaining though. The youngest gorilla is an absolute star, seeking the limelight and hamming it up, she was great fun. Most of the animals were in good sized enclosures. The only ones that made me uncomfortable were for the big cats, and the Eagles. However, even the lions looked happy. Be aware, the sight is very hilly.

More of a hike then a zoo. Eating is at the top or bottom of the large hills so choose wise what time you eat. Don't recommend if you have small children all enclosures are over stomach height so you will have to carry them round to see the animals( we went with a double pram and had to get them out for everyone but couldn't keep them out cause of the size of the hills). Food is good price and there are plenty of picnic places.

Covid systems in place aren't working. Because its 3 slots everyone is showing up same time and 1 way system means its overly busy at choke points. Uncomfortably so. More granular timeslots would help. Normally don't post bad reviews but this was really not enjoyable
