Come for the plants, not for the animals. Reptile house had several dead snakes, was very depressing. Overall a very beautiful place. Try the fish feet massage!

A little tired and unloved. Wanted the botanic gardens but had to pay for the zoo ticket. Poor animals surrounded by plastic bottles and straws. Wouldn't recommend.

Went back to my childhood place and saw a different zoo after more than three decades. Less animals, a lot more food stalls. Signs of pick pocket warning are everywhere which is really sad, at least from my viewpoints. A good place to escape from the heat, better if do not have to worry about crime.

First of all . The place is tooooo hot . And the number of animals there is very little . And seeing the black bear and tiger , they are very restless and look weak . Poor living environment for most of them . Magic show is entertaining for kids .

Large zoo area, with many trees, fresh air, lovely animals such as giraffes, elephants, porcupines, ...

Quite a huge place to walk around, there are definitely a lot of animals to look at here. The only downside is the quality/maintenance is not high due to the fact that this zoo is state owned. The price is cheap though so it's ok to visit here often.

One of the best Zoo which I ever seen! I'm not Ok with the animals in captivity, but minimum here they live in a clean habitat and they have enough food and space to move. A place full family with childre. I really enjoy my walk in! Recommended

It is not so big as Botanical gardens in KL or Singapore but it's decent.

Good place and they treat the animal nicely. However i dont support the act of a zoo anyway so.

Went to the botanical garden without realizing there was a zoo as well. I literally cried when I saw the lions in their enclosure. Their sides and legs were sore from laying on concrete, as there was nothing else in there for them to do. Few of the other animals fared much better. Large cats were pacing in their tiny enclosures, There were dozens of snakes sharing tiny areas, and there was barely any greenery anywhere for the animals. I avoid zoos for a reason and this reminded me exactly why.

The Saigon Zoo is a bit dystopian-feeling. It's part zoo but mostly amusement park; there are lots of rides, vendors, and even carnival game booths, which feel very out of place in what is supposed to be a zoo and botanical garden. The animal exhibits are depressing; the cages are not as well-maintained as other zoos and are filled with food that zoo visitors have thrown into the cages. This is an important point: The Saigon Zoo not only allows visitors to feed the animals: They have set up vendors to sell food to throw to the animals. This results in EVERYBODY wanting to feed the animals, which means there is an overfeeding situation, resulting in lethargic animals and giant messes of food on the ground. The sad side effect of this food disaster is tons of rats in the zoo. They're everywhere; the walkways, the canals, and most disappointingly, in the cages with the animals. There are rats everywhere. It's more like a bad circus situation than what a zoo is supposed to be. Besides the rats, the grounds themselves are ill-maintained. Expect lots of broken concrete, dangerous walkways, and tree roots coming up through the sidewalks. Vietnam in general isn't exactly a bastion of public safety in terms of walkway safety... but the Saigon Zoo encapsulates the nationwide infrastructure problems and highlights just how little care there is for personal safety on walkways. Basically, you're on your own and it's your responsibility if you trip and fall. As a visitor to Vietnam, I loved most things about the country and Ho Chih Minh City... but the Saigon Zoo was one of the only truly disappointing places I visited in my two week trip, and my standards are pretty low. On the plus side, there are a lot of really neat trees. As a botanical garden, it's neat to see. Also, it's really cheap!

Animals don’t look comfortable and many areas look run down. Barely a botanical garden either. Most signs not in English.

Honestly shocked at all the high reviews. Even the good ones show animals in distress. I remember reading about how bad this zoo was years ago and I’m quite sad it doesn’t sound like things have improved at all

Awful place. How they can keep tigers and elephants. All big animals should be transferred to other zoo's immediately

My family was so excited and happy for the zoo. But there most of the sections are not working or open late and I don’t expect them to improve this.

Is kind of cool to walk around and see the animal but is very hot. Make sure bring hat or umbrella and sun lotion. But i think they need to take care of the zoo more. I feel bad to see the elephant look so hungry.

A good range of animals and very good entry price. It's easy to get too, but some of the enclosures seemed a bit small or not well maintained. Also almost all of the cafes and kiosks were closed during my visit

I have liked the concept! I have liked the Zoo concept. Walking thru the large Botanical Gardens and finding the animals while walking around the gardens is a very nice experience. Eventually Zoo is seeing animals in captivity and i think that the HCMC is doing good about the display of the animals. As a grown up, I have spend there about 3 hours and it is also attached with the Museum of Vietnamese History.

I took my family there just 2 days ago. The view is totally different and the surounding. Even it was 12:00 P. M. It was pretty cool and nice. I was suprised to see 2 white tiger there and there are new places with a nice surrounding. Wilderbeast is another suprised animal. To see there.. It was pretty big.. And worth traveling since the price is only $2.20. Most of the animal. Can be watched without looking through the bar like before.. I recommend it for traveler especially people who like to learn or study about Vietnamese Culture.. I cant wait for the Zoo to be moved to a much bigger place uptown of Saigon

I don't like seeing the animal in the cages. And cages in here are pretty small. The only thing cool about this place is the museum inside. But you need to have a tour guide to guide you through Vietmam history. Because there are so much information and it will be bored if you don't have enough information

Worst place I have ever been to. Visitors chuck their rubbish at the animals and no one stops them. I witnessed and photographed a crocodile with a half smoked cigarette on its head, another surrounded with plastic bottles. A child throw a drinks can at a bear and a man throw a plastic bottle to the Orangutans. All the enclosed are dirty and run down and way too small. This place should not exist it is animal cruelty everywhere you look.

Come back after 2-3 years. The animals looking well cared compare to my last visit. There is a baby giraffe was borned here for months. Also some new animals: camel, heyna. Btw, the sounds of vehicles is the dropped point.

Definitely worth a look. Seems like the kiddies water attractions are unfinished or left to deteriorate. They are working on improving animal conditions.

Much better than the one in Hanoi. It's spacious and you see the animals are not having a tuff life either. Some small ecosystems also make the adventure for kids more interesting.

If you come at the afternoon, you can see the feeding of animals. You can buy some food at the children zoo and try to feed giraffe! Could be very hot here.

I have just paid a revisit to the Zoo after... hmmm... 20 years. With a better awareness this time, I had made up my mind not to be judgemental; like how bad it smells, how poor those animals in the cage, or our Zoo is not as good as of other countries, etc...; I should not let my judgemental mind blind my sight, consequently lost the fun. I was excited seeing many new things now. All different kinds of deers, small ones; big ones; short ones; tall ones, golden lion; white lions, etc.... And enjoyed different pleasant scents of flowers. Then, nostalgia came up to the surface. That beautiful monkey cage, built hundred years ago, where every time we came we would rush in to see first. Back then, visiting the Zoo with our parents was the thing that we were longing for every year. It was indeed an enjoyable afternoon.

Very good onw in town. The elephants are really smart indeed. You can buy sugar can in the nearby shops for the elephants, in exchange they will do something good like a small show for you.

Nice place. MCMC is very dirty and noisy but totally different here. Its a small zoo, there are not so many animals, mainly the zoo values are old huge trees and peaceful mood.
