Not a big place, but nice little walk round and all the funds help the animals. Little ones will enjoy it. There's a little play area and you can buy snacks & drinks. I think it's run by volunteers. Also I believe they mentioned they've lost government funding, which is such a shame. Place needs some tlc, hopefully more people will visit in the summer.

I visited Gorse Hill City Farm with my wife and baby daughter on 21 Dec 2020. We were looking forward to seeing the farm animals and visiting Santa. The experience was very confusing and frustrating. When we arrived it was unclear where we should go and what we needed to do. There was no one there to welcome us and explain what to do. We had to continually track down a member of staff to ask them for guidance. Each member of staff wasn't very interested in talking to us or very helpful. I got the feeling that they were too busy with other things to help. The signage throughout the farm was difficult to read and unclear. We were given a coloured map to follow, shown attached, which was difficult to read and badly designed. Although we had booked a slot to visit Santa there was a long queue of about 8 or 9 other families and we weren't able to wait for long. It was a cold day and it was going to be difficult to wait with a 1 year old baby with us. I wish there was something positive to say about our visit but it was a huge disappointment.

This is a small farm park and reasonably cheap, they have covid adaptions in place that makes your visit feel safe whilst still being enjoyable. They also have a lovely onsite cafe. It is small so animals are limited but the experience is lovely and the staff team very welcoming But this farm can't be judged similarly to big profit making farm parks - it isn't one of those, it merely covers it's costs to educate families and give them the lovely experience. You can walk round and be finished your visit quite quickly but again it isn't a large profit making farm. Instead it is a jumping in muddy puddles, play on the park and get messy all year round wrap up warm Kind of farm, with the bonus of being extra lovely in the sunshine. It is the kind of farm you can visit with your children again and again to see the seasons change, watch the animals and your children grow... We have visited the farm for more than 15yrs, when my eldest was small she loved it, now she is tall she still loves it. It has a relaxed atmosphere and you can sit and have coffee while watching ducks. It needs plenty of work and the farm reach out for volunteers to support it, you always see work happening while you are there - as I said the staff team are great, and will always stop to answer questions too.

Had a lovely day taking my 6 month old fir the first time. She loved seeing all the animals and they're very well looked after. Feed isn't too expensive for the smaller animals either. 75p a bag! My partner got to hold a bird from the bird section. He loved it. Food was lovely, not overly expensive. Two big portions of cheesy chips and a hotdog came to about 9ish pound. However £5 for a hot chocolate and mocha is a bit excessive. It would have been 4 maybe 5 stars if we hadn't of heard the staff in the kitchen, laughing and slagging customers off behind their backs. Very unprofessional considering it was loud enough for us to hear outside.

Took my daughter, who's now 25, in our bubble to go somewhere we hadn't been for ages. Very well organised during Covid 19, one-way system, lots of hand sanitizer posts and online booking (£3.50 adults). Obviously, the main attraction are the animals, who look very well looked after. We fell in love with the kids (baby goats) and the piglets. They have their own parking (go up the path) and good disabled access. The city council are withdrawing their funding so they are relying on donations, it would be sad if we lost this place.

Fantastic charity run farm in Leicester, not far from the city centre and easy to reach by bus or car. Great for children and adults alike, offering the opportunity to feed the goats, sheep and ducks. As well as being fun for all the family, the farm relies completely on donations so you know that the entrance fee is to support the upkeep and housing of the farm animals.

Fab little city farm! Buy a bag of animal feed and become best mates with the goats and sheep. Try your hand at milking a cow. Small play area and lovely cafe-vegan menu too!

Very small farm but has everything you need to keep small children entertained for an afternoon. My 2 year old loves it. Excellent value for money. Worth getting two bags of food as the sheep will guilt you into feeding them everything ????

Avoid! Took ages to purchase tickets because staff to busy in the cafe. No customer service the play area was closed kids had nothing to do? Hardly any animals and they call themself a farm? Was there less than 5 miniutes as realised play area was closed and staff did not bother to tell us! Asked for a refund for the tickets as we decided to leave and was confronted by a manager who had no experience dealing with customers. He was so arrogant and refused to offer a refund. Like other recent reviews not worth it.

We went as a family of 6. Paid £16 including 2 bags of feed (50p each). Was expensive for what it was, the sheep's and goats were brilliant...... And that's about it. Kids had a nice time. But I'd rather take them to Abbey Park petting corner. It's the same thing.

Very cheap but unfortunately not worth the money. It took longer to travel here than it did it get round the whole farm. I think we spent around 15 mins here. I understand covid has limited access to some areas, but I saw more wildlife on the journey home. Staff did not reinforce social distancing on the guests and I found myself at times being hurried along because of inconsiderate guests not willing to wait 5 minutes for you to look at one of the few animals there were to see.

Been going for years, great for kids for 1st experience with farm animals. Cant believe council has stopped funding. But no doubt the money there saving will go to good causes like extra speed cameras and extra traffic warden patrols. Anything to line there pockets. Well done!!

Nice little Farm. It is small but they have quite a few animals living there. When you enter the gate is DIY and there is a donation box you can donate whatever you feel like but it also suggest the amount for adults and kids. However we tend to give more as this place is run privately and they do need our support. You can also buy the food to feed those sheeps & lambs, it is also self help. They have a cafe there but I didn’t have a chance to try. We noticed in one of the room there are some photos of animals which people currently supporting, is like adopting I guess. And we are considering to join the family annual pass so we can bring the little one there more often. When my friends come to visit me from other part of England or even other part of the world, this is a must place to bring them here.

I would not recommend. Animal feeding and the park were unavailable due to 'covid' without warning. We were at the farm for only 10 minute's, hardly anything to do for the kids, and restricted access around the farm. They seem to have focused on functioning as a take away and tacky 'cafe' and forgotten about the animals.

What a little gem, the Horse Gill City Farm is more than we expected and apart from the animals all staff we me were so friendly, we actually visited the cage for afternoon tea which for the cost was good value a no frills cafe but serving honest food. After eating we visited the different animals and realised it is a great place to take little ones as there is plenty to see and the areas are so planned that almost all animals are there close to feed goats especially are so friendly little ones would get really involved. Food is sold for 50p a bag which basically is pelleted food and notices are all around requesting you not to feed with your own food which common sense should tell they should stick to there die. Varieties of small animals are housed inside which again little ones can get closer to.. There are many volunteers working there and especially people with learning difficulties who obviously are getting experience. Gorse Hill Farm is a charitable establishment and I find it hard to take in some of the negative views that have been posted here and especially other more well site, the place is giving sanctuary and has a breeding programme for some of the animals that are rare, so I can only say go along and enjoy the value the City Farm is donating to the community. Well recommended!!!!

Relaxing couple of hours fresh air with the kids. Outdoors. Learning about animals and nature. Valuable space in the city. Also nice little cafe and I could take out a cuppa while they played in the playground.

Great opportunity to get close to a variety of farm animals. Nice for children and lots of scope for taking photos. Plenty of info is displayed around the farm about the animals and breeds. Friendly staff keep the place clean and welcoming. Some weekends there are owls brought in which you can hold.

This is a lovely little farm perfect for children. Not the hugest amount of animals, but the animals there are able to be petted and are very friendly. There are some activities for children and a large park area with benches and a children's play area. The gift shop has a wide range of items and is well priced, perfect gifts for young kids.

Not worth for money you spend.£3.50 for an adult and £0.50 for animal feed. The whole farm you can see within 20 to 30 minutes. We will expect something more at the entrance when the staff gives a wrist band to apply and a token to take animal feed.I still dont know what was the use of that wrist band????????????there were only 10 or 15 visitors....

We went when the farm reopened after the covid pandemic 20/8/2020. There were only about 5 main types of animals to see which was very very disappointing. Luckily i bought the tickets on groupon so got a discount but still not worth it tbh.

Love coming to visit this city farm! I attend every month with my daughter so she gets her 'pet fix'. She loves feeding the goats, they can eat for England. You can even pet the bunnies. They have a cafe where they serve snacks and other hot food and a delicious selection of ice cream!
