I have had several VWs, and all bought and serviced through Alan Day. I used to use the City branch, but it has now closed. Upon discovering that Sam from City branch was now at the Hampstead branch I decided to take my 4 year old R there for it’s MOT. The staff were all first rate and the job was promptly done, together with an advisory notice on upcoming things I need to get done. Was considering a different marque for my next purchase - this experience may have changed my mind!

I called to book a test drive for two Polos with Raj. The line disconnected so he called me back and asked which of the cars I wanted to test drive the most. I thought it odd but chose and he told me that was good as the other car had been sold! I'm not sure what sort of sales tactic this is as professionalism would have had him explain this at the start instead of playing games. Why tell me to choose when there's only one available? Anyway, I booked in for the next day but as Raj didn't take my email address, I received no confirmation which I've always had in the past and no direct line for him. Half an hour before my appointment I called to explain I was running late due to road blocks but there was no answer. I kept trying until after my appointment time and Raj didn't bother calling me after it either. When I arrived I viewed the cars outside before making myself known to the receptionist, as it seemed Raj was in no rush to provide a service. She found Raj and then told us he was with a client, has another after and could see us when those were finished! I don't understand why if he knew he had someone 30 minutes after me, and not in hour slots like he told me he had in the morning, he didn't call to advise this? Very poor practice. I've worked in sales before and I'd always send confirmation as well as provide a courtesy call if they're not there on time, especially if time is tight due to a following appointment. Seemed from the first call, Raj wasn't interested in the sale at all. I've since been on the VW website and both cars are available - they had been since the appointment. I don't understand why he'd lie but regardless, I won't be purchasing from Alan Day Hampstead as the service from sales staff is terrible. It's staff like this that puts people off from buying from dealerships. Luckily the only saving grace I encountered was the helpful and friendly receptionist.

George of Alan Day Volkswagen Hampstead provided exceptional customer service with our purchase of a used car. George was very responsive and helpful, and he went the extra mile (no pun intended) in supporting us purchase the car safely during this COVID 19 pandemic. The purchase came with a package of five days of drive away insurance, a 30 days exchange agreement, plus two years of warranty including MOT cover and roadside assistance. Highly recommended.

DO NOT SERVICE YOUR VEHICLE HERE! PLEASE READ ON... Booked my car in for a MOT and it was the biggest regret of my life. My vehicle inspection report was a total lie!!! Number one: Tony told me i needed qa new cambelt (£599) which does not make sense as my car has done 22,000 miles. Number two, i was also told my air conditioning needed fixing(£200) it did not need fixing My air and cabin filter just needed to be changed which is very inexpensive in comparison to a air conditioning service.. Number three, Tony was adamant that my front wish bones were splitting even thought they were perfect and there was nothing wrong with my front wish bones (£339) AND my service light is on and its so annoying as it makes noise every time i start my engine. I believe they put my service light on so i would be scared and believe something is wrong with my car so i come back to them- guess what i never will. Luckily, I was weary of this dealership so i decided to take my vehicle to a trustworthy garage i have been to before. When i told the mechanic the “issues” VW on Fichely Road (not West Hampstead) diagnosed my car with, he bought me downstairs and used a wrench to show me that my front wish bones were perfect. The mechanic took my car for a diagnostic check and i am SO HAPPY he did. It turns out my life was in huge danger and i am a very lucky man to be alive! - I needed a new power steering rack. The mechanic showed me how ‘run down’ the power steering rack is and he stated this issue should have been recognised by VW considering i just had a MOT check. DO NOT COME TO THIS DEALERSHIP! THEY SCAM YOU AND TELL YOU THERE IS ISSUES WITH YOUR VEHICLE JUST SO YOU SPEND UNNECESSARY MONEY. If I went through with the “works” it would of cost me £1,138 and my life would of still been in danger and i would of still had problems. This VW should be closed down seriously. Report them if you can, lets stick together to take down businesses like this please.

This Volkswagen dealership is very good. They are always very helpful whenever I have issues or questions about my car. Definitely ask for Tony when you go there, he always goes the extra mile for his customers and is extremely helpful which is very nice.

The investigation fee of approx £200 is a rip off especially when free in other VW dealers. I understand it’s a premium location but to charge for simply a diagnostics is outrageous. Overall service great and customer care excellent.

Tony Mancini was lovely! We walked in without an appointment and he was busy but he immediately gave us the car key to the car we wanted to see and was extra friendly. He was so welcoming and gave space and time to see the car and start it and all. We had just come from Mercedes collindale where we were abused by staff to Volkswagen where Tony was so helpful and kind.

Having to wait 2 weeks for an update on my car from the service team and a courtesy car after Alan Day and VW saying they are waiting to hear from the other because of a busy service department. I understand if the repair can't be done within a few days but to not supply your customers with transport for 2 week is beyond ridiculous.

A very friendly and efficient dealer for servicing. Be warned: any warranty work at this dealer will incur an investigation fee of £150+ and an appointment wait of up to 5 weeks. VW Citygate gave me a next day appointment and didn’t charge for the investigation.

No communication to confirm appointment. Booked through discount site 4 weeks ago, confirmation received but no confirmation from Allen Day. Called 10 times over a 2 wk period, promised a call back each time by receptionist “Tony Dejesus will call back to confirm” still no call back. Date has come and gone. Very disappointing service. Been buying/servicing my cars since 1980’s and never ever a problem. Do not honour bookings or discount. They should be ashamed to use the VW name. If there was MINUS stars they would get all 5. Amateurs not the VW standard I’m use to at all!

I am a Motability customer who received my VW Tiguan R-line Tech in July 2020 and since purchase to this date the 360 camera does not work and even though it has been in with the dealer numerous times over a period of 5 months VW have done nothing to fix this, it is an intermittent problem which i respect is hard to find however I fail to believe how they can not find it even after taking my car in 3-4 times already. also they forgot to put coolant in my car AND ITS BRAND NEW! Oh and they also failed to tell me a new version of the Tiguan would be coming out in literally 2 months. VW ALAN DAY I WOULD HAVE WAITED FOR THE NEW ONE!!!

One of the most outrageously pathetic demonstrations of customer service I have ever received. Here is my experience of visiting their showroom on Fri 24th July 2020. I cycled to the showroom at midday and went to the reception desk. When I asked where I could leave my bike, the receptionist, Jodie, told me I would have to leave it by the front door. I told her I wasn't willing to risk leaving my bike unguarded and asked whether I could fold it up (it's a tiny Brompton!) and leave it behind her desk. She told me "no" because she was going on her lunch break. She didn't offer anything else as an alternative. So, not being happy to leave an expensive bike out of site and without her present to keep an eye out for it, I was left scratching my head as to what to do. Bear in mind, this showroom is huge - there's so much space and it wouldn't have inconvenienced anyone in the slightest. I literally had to say, ''can we not think of a compromise here'', to try and work towards what should have been an exceptionally simple solution. Again, I was told I would have to leave it by the front door, which isn't near to anyone, as the sales team sit at the back of the showroom. I was pretty flabbergasted at this first introduction but persevered and was eventually told I could leave it by the waiting area if I folded it up. Why this wasn't the first thing suggested I do not know. Without me saying anything, I must have showed that I was clearly unhappy but instead of a member of staff coming over to defuse the situation, I had a tall guy (staff member) eyeball me as I was walking towards the seating area (possibly her overly protective boyfriend - who knows). At this point, I really should have got up and cycled off to another dealership, but I was due to start a new job in a weeks time and needed to secure a car quickly. Not exactly the best first experience when you've come to spend 16k on a car. I then dealt with a nice guy called 'George Mundy' on the sales team. My dealings with George were perfectly fine however, the next day when I called and left a message for him (which was to buy the freaking car I saw the day before!!) he didn't return my call. In the end, I contacted an alternative approved dealership called 'City Gate West London Volkswagen'. My fantastic experience with City Gate was chalk and cheese in difference to Hampstead Volkswagen. I have now paid a holding deposit with City Gate for the same model of car that I saw at Hamstead and will purchase it on Monday. George not returning my call was the best thing that could have happened, for two reasons: 1) the car with City Gate was both cheaper and a better spec than that with Hamstead, and 2) I'm genuinely so happy to not give my business to the contemptuous people at Hamstead Volkswagen. As I type this, on reflection, I'm now wondering if Jodie the receptionist had a bit of a mild anxiety attack by confusing my slightly sweaty appearance (due to me cycling) with me having Covid-19 - I visited on the first day facemasks were made compulsory to wear. This might explain why she was trying to get me out of the door before I had even sat down. Do yourself a favour people, call City Gate West London, or an alternative dealership. But, whatever you do, do not arrive to Hamstead VW by bike!

Good staff. But the Alan day group are more interested in servicing new cars and are less able on elder models. My car wouldn’t start on collection and they sent me on my way with flat batteries (my model has two). After 1 hours drive I had to stop as the car had filled with gas due to the dangerous cooking of the batteries!

Went in and dealt with a great salesman Julian. I’m afraid that’s where the positives end. Arranged with the office to have a car delivered for test drive. They took £250 deposit in case I cancelled. On the day, the car wasn’t at the showroom. But was at a nearby body shop. On collection, they return to the showroom with a completely different car to the one I was interested in. Wasted a whole afternoon and they knew I was making the way here with my partner and 5 week old with the view to making a purchase. Awful response from the management. Basically couldn’t care less and could only refer to the incident as embarrassing. Certainly that, but absolutely no effort to save the situation. Certainly not paying me £250 for our lost afternoon.

Not very interested in selling cars. We persisted and did buy it. Wasn't clean on pick up. Had issues so went in 3 months later and had a service. Failed to tell us it's MOT was also due at that time. It's been apparently out of date for 5 months!

Once again very disappointed at the poor service. Took a car with a problem with the battery for the second time and potentially an alternator problem as well, according to RAC. The car was kept for two days with no feedback from The service department. They only charged the battery, never called me to pick up the car The person that was dealing with me just blamed the system for not sending his txt message. Luckily i called and managed to be there before they closed at 5.30pm. While i was there a lady came to pick up a car. She was told they just received the car today but she insisted that she dropped the car a day before and was suppose to pick it up today. Didn’t stay to see how they solved this problem. Very incompetent. I had the same problem every time i took the car for annual service. VW cars are good, Alan day service is poor.

I am writing this review again because this dealership decided to change the name of their dealership so the previous google reviews don't impact their business. So here is transcript of my original review of this dealership. I am happy for you to contact me as you refuse to service my car and being my local dealer I find it appalling that you are refusing to service my car. The most arrogant dealer you will ever deal with. I brought my car from another VW dealer and when I had an issue the dealer told me to go back to that dealer (the car is brand new) - the exact words were "you should have brought the car from us" - I made a complaint to VW customer services (you would have thought they would be more useful given the emissions scandal fiasco) and they told me the best they could do was go to the head of business at that dealership (although he is the one who is responsible for this shambolic customer service in the first place). I have asked for the service regime to be changed from 1 year to 2 years as that's what i was told was the regime when I purchased the car, the dealer who sold me the car (VW Scunthorpe) has authorised you to do this, however you can't even be bothered to give me a call back as there's nothing in it for you - VW Scunthorpe has even agreed to pay you for doing it if it's only about the money. In summary, this dealership is run by crooks, they're arrogant and the reviews on google say it all - let's see if this review gets me a call from the dealer (I won't hold my breath) Update: The dealer will respond to say that the issue has now been resolved, this is their standard response, i can confirm the issues NEVER get resolved.

Excellent customer service provided by all service representatives. Especially impressed with the service manager, Jake, who provided knowledgeable solutions to some very big issues with my car. All work carried out as stated and I genuinely felt like a valued customer for the VW brand. I will be continuing to use this service centre for all work in the future.
