During lock down I found my perfect car at Alan Day New Southgate Volkswagen. Due to restriction, I was unable to have a test drive, however my experience with the sales executive Steven Murray was outstanding. Steven was as helpful as could be, sending multiple videos of the car, ensuring I knew all I wanted to know before purchasing. I was not pressured to make any decisions; I was given time to consider with confidence that with a holding fee the car would not be sold. The process could have felt very back and forth, due to not being able to visit and having to do everything over email or the phone. Steven honestly made the experience a walk in the park. Making the whole paper work process so simple for me, and constantly going above and beyond to make sure I'm happy with what I am getting. I cannot stress enough the great experience I had from Steven, he was so friendly and gave me confidence in buying my car in such an uncertain time. It has been a few months now and I am over the moon with the car and still so impressed by the level of professionalism from Alan Day New Southgate Volkswagen. Steven did not just sell the car and be done with me as a customer, he continued contact to make sure I was getting along with the car and to say thank you. I would give the service I received a 10 out of 10. Highly recommend, so helpful in every aspect of the buying process providing such confidence, especially in the current times. I'm shocked!! I took my car for a car wash and the guys just gave me a screw from my wheel that felt under my car. I had my car on Alan Day for a full week for checks and then after charging me for checks that didn't give a clear result about what issues is having the car, is happening this. Might not be a big issue for them, but for me, that I'm driving daily on motorway, to know that a screw can just fell that's easy is scary!!

Went to look for a newer car than I'm driving currently. Alan Day sell Skoda's and VW's so have a vast choice. On our arrival we were directed to the Skoda sales team who were very informative and knew their products. We were told a member of staff would be in touch to arrange a test drive, which they dud on our way home from the showroom. Went for a test drive earlier today which all went well. Once back at the showroom the sales man began to talk to us. Sadly, I couldn't hear all he said as the acoustics were bad and another sales man also had a customer with him. Apart from that. It was all good

Dismissive on the phone and rushed when I was enquiring about returning my car. Turned up absolutely poor communication. Two people stopped me from entering even though the phone operator said it was fine. I explicitly asked if I could use that entrance. Only good thing was Tom who collected my car...easy going guy. He saved the review from 1 star :) I was going to ask about their new electric cars but I will definitely be going to a different establishment.

Avoid this branch to fix your car. Parts mysteriously break down during checks. Went for standard mot and had a broken clock spring as a result. Long waiting list for them to see the car again whilst having a car unsafe to drive in. They try to charge for parts that break during the checks plus need to argue to get labour for free. Very inconvenient and unfair. Won’t be returning here. Choose any other Alan Day branch.

Hi me and my parents are very very happy how vw Southgate customers service is on point very welcome. The sales team very helpful, Lenin Raphael was very good explained everything to my dad and mum about the car and for the sales and explained all the documents. sorted us out with a brand new car within a week so we didn’t have to wait few months for the car when order. Pretty good pre-sales and handling our part exchange was smooth. They replaced all the brakes just before I picked up the car, after which I had a safety concern on the vehicle that they were rather poor in responding to. They are within their rights to ignore my basic safety related question, but I don't think it helps build trust in the Alan Day operation.

Avoid this place. The customer service isn’t even a 1 star. The manager is incompetent of dealing with anything at all. Coward who can’t even deal with his customers. Gets other staff members to answer and then speaks up over the phone saying he didn’t say this or that. Hides in his office not answering any calls. Lies about things. I suffer with a few mental health disorders and when I tried to get a query about the car we have on finance he shrugged his shoulders and huffed at me. Lied to me about our finance plan, got aggressive. It made me feel so small, that I actually have had to put in a formal complaint to Volkswagen and get the mental health services involved as it’s caused me a lot of distress. And is mentally abusive. Do not trust this company at all. Also don’t deal with this place if you’re transgender as they will misgender you and won’t even care. They use old school terms. Ladies or gentleman. Shocking. I suggest the actual manager gets a new job.

Very good customer service. My car was booked in they explained everything to me. Then I was sent an email video of the technician going around the car and letting me know what he was doing. Then another email was sent which gave me a breakdown of what work was carried out then there were options to authorise other works or products if needed. Very good overall. Just a shame that the prices of cars are so much more in London than what they are up north. Same car same spec in this dealership cost 6-7k more than the one I purchased from VW JCT600 in Hull. So it was worth the day return to Hull to save that amount of money.

Went this week wanting to test a new car, was told that they are not allowing customers to test cars at all due to covid. Whilst I can understand covid, why are ALL other VW and other garages allowing you to test. Surely you can't expect most people to spend 30k plus on a car without testing. I dealt with a sales person called Tony and quite frankly I found him rude and arrogant, his response to me about not allowing to test cars "I've sold a number of cars without people wanting to test, sorry". That's great Tony. If anybody makes there way to VW Southgate, I suggest driving an additional 20min and visiting VW Citygate Watford or VW Citygate Ruislip. Service is excellent and you are allowed to TEST the cars.

Quite a wait for a first service which couldn't be booked online. Pricing for service on an EV was not documented and was overpriced for what is actually required. Told car has been charged but must have been done at 3KW as almost no difference. Did get a report of voltage of every battery cell which I had requested but may not be accurate if the car was being charged. Car not washed. EV car servicing is greatly overpriced and an excuse to keep revenue coming into dealerships. The safety check card is used but I thought that was the role of an MOT. Brakes should last much longer with regenerative braking.

Bad experience. Visited the showroom with intention of purchasing my first car. Firstly, was told I would be able to test drive. This was a lie, I was not even allowed to see the car the sales lady was fixated on me purchasing. Of course with COVID, measures must be put in place, but how ridiculous when you can try on clothes and touch everything in stores, but cannot even see an expensive purchase they want you to put down a deposit for. That aside is not the worst part. Sales woman was so fixated on selling me 1 car that did not meet all my requirements and was slightly over my budget - keep in mind, did not explore any other cars actually within my budget (I found this out outside, seeing many other cars in my budget, to which the lady said oh yeah, but did not bother to show them anyway). Towards the end, she said 'to be transparent with you so you know I'm not hiding anything, someone is interested in the car and wants to put a deposit - I suggest you put a deposit down to keep it'. The email came through BEFORE our meeting, which she could have mentioned right at the start. Stupid strategy which did not work and the biggest waste of my time. Anyway, left this ridiculous show room & almost did not purchase a VW, but decided to try the one in Watford. Complete turn around, amazing experience in the Watford branch, was able to test drive and look inside the cars. Ended up spending a little more than my original budget because the lovely team were able to explore options with me to get everything I wanted in my car.

Had a very disappointing experience with these guys. Took a van in for a check while it was still in warranty, the dealership kept it for a a couple of months which was a massive inconvenience - they said they removed the speed limiter on it as a courtesy for having the van for such an extended period. My fault is that I didn't check if they did their job right away (never though I had to do that after dealing with a dealership - you always expect the best from them right?!). Anyways, the van still doesn't go faster than 65 mph and they refuse to look at this again unless I pay for diagnostics. An AA approved garage confirmed it still has a limiter at the last major service something Alan Day said they removed!

Very happy with the service at VW New Southgate branch. Just want to say a big thank you to Don Collins who done his job more than perfectly. As a mobility customer I wasn’t sure which car suited my needs but Don explained himself really well without rushing anything. He also answered all my relevant questions really well. Through out this Coronavirus lockdown I was worried with the possible delay for my vehicle to be delivered on time but Don kept me reassured and informed me through out the whole process. Don is a guy who doesn’t skip anything, he explains everything really well. Anyone reading this and ever wants a mobility car from VW, my advice would be go and see Don Collins, he will really look after you.

Appalling service standards at this branch, shocking what goes on with your vehicle behind scenes, this dealer was the ultimate reason why I had no choice but to learn car mechanics. Every time my car would go in it would come out with about another 5 faults, awful, staff are told to loosen sensors for faults to occur after leaving service centre, so they can make more money in repairs. I found there repair centre an utter disgrace to communities in North London. They don't carry out full service standards that VW group operate, this branch is shocking. I know this now after speaking with many of my members of my community. It's probably why they had to start selling vans as they could no attract locals to purchase another vehicle after they handed out such appalling servicing on people's cars leaving them prone to breakdown thus requiring repairs. They then take these old car parts refurbish them and sell them online, avoiding many Tax regulations, dodgy branch, I am surprised they have not been done for VAT fraud yet. Appalling branch please keep well away from this branch. My car cannot do 4000 miles a year and require £1000 each year to fix, bearing in mind this vehicle only had 12000 miles when I started using it. Lol, this dealership is a joke, I would never want to work for a dealership like this, my issues with this branch are the same for many people in my area, please keep away use a different branch if wanting to purchase VW or use a completely different car manufacturer. This place is awful even there emissions scandal was a joke. Please avoid, don't be tempted by the offers as they will get you for servicing later stay well away.

Read the reviews. Beware - buy a car at your peril Bought a VW UP in Dec19. First heavy rain, water was getting into the car. Phoned VW for appointment, earliest date early April which was cancelled by them due to the pandemic. Then we had National lockdown. Phoned again post lockdown and earliest appointment date 18 November. Attended the appointment and they refuse to investigate the cause of the water ingress! Absolutely disgusting customer service! No after sales service at all. VW responded to my review. Now they are calling me a liar! The timeline I presented is 100% accurate. Yes I have a valid used car warranty so why are Alan Day VW New Southgate refusing to honour it? 34% of reviews are 1/2 stars! Very very poor customer service.

Had an annual service yesterday. Told this had rectified 2 problems that I had clearly described and it had not at all. Have now called 3 times in 24 hours, each time been promised a call back and no one has bothered. Paid almost £500 for nothing. Really shocked at this shoddy service all round, especially the total lack of customer care. I am doubtful that any kind of service even took place on the car at this point. It will be my last service with Alan Day, New Southgate.

Really poor service. Dropped my vehicle off for a service and thought I'll look around show room, got permission from a member of staff at the service desk due to the covid 19 policies in place. Started to look around the new vehicles area and one of the sales stall started shouting "oi oi what you doing". I told him I've got permission from the service desk then I was marched over to him by the sales staff and asked to point out who gave me permission. WHAT THE HELL. I DONT GIVR A DAMM IF THE QUEEN WAS ATTENDING THE SITE BUT YOU DONT TALK TO ME LIKE THAT. WILL BE KICKING OFF WITH HEAD OFFICE.

Initially staff was welcoming. Explained clearly what we wanted. When the member of staff proposed a car we were more than interested. It all changed when we asked to test drive it. At that point we were informed that a test drive was not possible. The car was unlikely to still be available (even that afternoon!) So we should buy it there and then. The member of staff then told us we had wasted his time. Really? Even in these Covid-19 times not sure many people will buy a car without test driving it first. Sorry VW would have loved one of your cars. You will need to find more amenable dealers. UPDATE 10/08/20 Since posting my review I was contacted by Alan Day. The response was the same cut and paste reply used on all the other complaints. Nice touch! I have since found a broker called Carfile.net who has excellent reviews and brilliant customer service as do the companies they put you in contact with.

My 2015 VW Golf has just been in for a major service at a cost of over £500. I chose the major service as it was unclear what services it had previously before i bought from an unrelated dealership in Derby. Service guy was nice and helpful and never pressured me into any additional expense. However, it had 3 recall items, 1 of which was a firmware update to improve the really poor DAB signal. On leaving the dealership with my car the DAB was still poor so i will need to go back and ensure they did apply the update. On further inspection of the car by me, i found that the car clean i was promised wasn't a very thorough job and when i looked under the bonnet, the battery cover was not replaced properly and the plastic clip on the air filter box was broken. I also noticed that the new wipers were hitting the trim on one side of the windscreen. This has me doubting the thoroughness and quality of the service i paid so much for. The dealership will be hearing from me shortly Thanks for your reply Jason. If you look me up in your records you should have my number. Give me a call regarding my issues and hopefully we can resolve them and I can update my review

My adventure with this dealer was nothing but disappointment. After sending some queries through their website regarding available vehicles nobody bothered to respond to me. Then I tried calling, after hanging on the phone for ages finally got through to sales team and been told that none of the cars that are shown on Alan Day website are actually available and are actually sold before they arrive to garage which is due to massive demand and covid which I could understand. I have had a pleasant conversation with sales, provided details on what vehicles I would be interested with. I have been told it would take around a week or two until I will hear back from Alan Day. Days have passed and after a week and a half I decided my luck with other VW dealer. Straight away I was able to reserve a vehicle with them and within 5 day I was driving new vehicle. This was now 8 weeks ago, so far nobody from Alan Day bothered to contact or even check up on me which made me feel a bit disposable. From time to time I do receive their automated messages on the email saying: "It’s been a little while since you made your initial enquiry – are you still looking for your perfect car? I hope you are extremely satisfied with our service, and that we treated your enquiry in the attentive and personal manner you would expect." The answer to above question is no, I am not satisfied. Luckily there are other VW dealers nearby that can go above and beyond to achieve what Alan Day couldn't - get you driving a new VW.

We recently bought a T Roc from Alan Day Finchley Road. The whole experience could not have gone more smoothly. We saw the car on the forecourt, did a test drive a week later and it was sitting on our drive a week after that! We want to thank the salesman Terry Dineen who mad this happen.
