Positively. Exactly one week today. I will forever be grateful to the Labour Ward for their support. The team were absolutely incredible, most especially Ziona P. was superb. I received excellent support and the quality of care delivered was fantastic though they weren't prepared for me as I was meant to have my baby at St. George's Hospital. Myself I'm a student nurse and the care she offered to me tells you how passionate she is about her job role. Negatively. Firstly, they take sample of blood to the lab and you're told later on I have to take your blood again. When you ask why? It's either missing or they have no idea. This happened to me 3 times whiles I was admitted. I observed miscommunication which is appalling within the ethics of health care. Secondly, they should stop serving sandwiches for lunch, hot meals will preferably be better.

Piss poor staff and disgusting conditions. Needs to be reported.

So far I have received amazing care. The staff is very understanding and caring, they see you not only as "another number" in the queue but actually as an individual. Because of my condition I have been numerous times there and always treated brilliantly especially the nursing staff. You are amazing, keep doing what you are doing. With love. Izabela

My wife gave birth to our first child here in April 2021. What can I say, we were absolutely blown away! The facilities were modern, plentiful, and in great condition - my wife had everything she could want, both in the birth centre and on the labour ward where she was transferred halfway through labour for medical reasons. The staff were absolutely amazing, from the head midwives, to the students, they were skilled, knowledgeable, and coached my partner through what she has described as a "great" experience - something you don't hear very often with reference to birthing a child. Being relatively new to the area, we were a little unsure about the hospital given the comments and old reviews about Mayday, but judging from our experience, they are completely unfounded. Maybe the hospital has turned it around, maybe it's something else, but I can honestly say they exceeded our hopes and expectations without caveats, and I'm generally quite difficult to please, my wife probably more so. Well done to all the staff, administrators and supervisors at CUH, and thank you!

So many problems with this hospital. So sad as we paid so much taxes. Can I please get explanation why my appointment was canceled and I haven't received a massage? I received messages this morning that I must attend my appointment. I'm on a way to the hospital all the way from Stratford and I waited my time for what. I need explanation why this thing keeps happening. You could send me a message or email. Not professional at all and I did big mistake to donate to this hospital. I regret my efforts and I'm so disappointed.

Dermatology reception is a joke. I was supposed to start medication back in October, spent WEEKS calling every day and emailing but no response. Finally started medication in March, now due for a review and yet I haven't been given an appointment. Spent literal hours on hold to a number nobody ever answers and emails are a complete waste of time too. Get referred to a different hospital, this one is the worst. Sad thing is, the actual dermatologists I've seen have been lovely and sympathetic. I'm just completely put off by never been able to speak to someone and on the incredibly rare occasion you do they are snippy, rude and not even apologetic.

I was in Fairfield 2 ward for a week discharged other 13th May 2021. The nursing care I had was excellent, I wish I could say the same about the Consultant, he was rude, arrogant and I see him as nothing but a a bully. He basically told me why should I be treated on the NHS as I was Smoker (I gave up 5 years ago) and overweight. And said he was old school and that how things should be. I was beyond upset and wanted to leave straight away and packed my things up, another doctor persuaded me to stay and apologised for the way he behaved. Now on being home I cannot get his hurtful words out of my mind and am very upset and tearful.

Giving 1 star as there are some helpful staff here. Today went in for an ultrasound of a very intimate area. Walked into the tiny room, which needs a clean by the way and the radiologist didn't even turn around to look at me and say hello. She and her assistant were talking about one of their colleagues while I was changing behind the curtain. Then barking orders at me for how to sit but not explaining clearly. It was just one of the most awkward experiences I have had. Do they not understand how people might be feeling? How traumatic it can be for a woman to have this sort of scan. The very least you can do is introduce yourself to the patient and explain what will happen. Perhaps time to switch to private healthcare for me!

Worst experience and stay. I wish I could give 0 stars. My elderly daughter was admitted in to mayday Croydon university hospital. During her admission in this hospital the vast majority of nurses did not help her with her needs. They made a fuss about looking after her needs such as help and assistance using the bathroom or assistance with eating meals as her condition required assistance with these tasks. My daughter would go days without bathing because the nurses wouldn’t assist her nor would they wash her daily or even every other day. Members of this hospital were very abusive verbally to me and my daughter. For example when I would call or visit the wards to check on how my daughter was. More than half of the time I was met with negative attitudes and rude responses from nurses and staff. Whenever a member of staff said they would call me back 9 times out of 10 they wouldn’t call back. More importantly to even get an update from a Doctor regarding my daughter was a very difficult task on its own. As my daughter wasn’t fully conscious or fully aware of what was going on due to her condition at the time. Which made the experience even more difficult. When my daughter would be moved from one ward to another. I wouldn’t get a phone call from the hospital to inform me that my daughter had been moved to another ward let alone which ward she had been moved to. Even when the nurses told me they were planing to move my daughter to another ward. That they themselves would inform me once my daughter had been moved to another ward. They didn’t. My daughter stayed in multiple wards in Croydon Mayday University Hospital and I’m sorry to say all the wards she had stayed in had more bad staff than good staff. Items I would give for my daughter would go missing soon as I had handed them to staff. The PALS team of Mayday Croydon University Hospital also were not very helpful or engaging with dealing with matters. The hospitals medical team had made a handful of errors and a lot of delays with my daughters care. The vast majority of staff in this hospital are very rude and there isn’t any excuse for this pandemic or no pandemic. It is not acceptable for members of staff at Croydon University Hospital to take out their own frustrations on patients and display abusive behaviour towards patients. This is really appalling. I really believe the head of NHS Simon Stevens and Matt Hancock the state of Health need to look into and investigate this hospital thoroughly ! My advise to people is send your loved ones to different hospitals such as St George’s Tooting.

The Croydon university hospital is located in Thornton heath and it's postcode is CR7 7YE. It is popularly known as Mayday hospital and is popularly known for its 24/7 Emergency department. I have been there around twice and would recommend it to anyone seeking medical help.

The absolute WORST hospital anybody could attend, especially for the antenatal department. I’d recommend everybody to travel rather than attend this pathetic excuse of a hospital. The individual who deals with the ante natal department is extremely rude, unprofessional, and lacks understanding. We had to call numerous times and was passed from department to department. when reconnected to this one specific individual who kept transferring us she was extremely agitated and argumentative and told us she’s going to end the call and for my cousin(who doesn’t speak English) to come to the hospital to find out what time her appointment is when she could have told us the previous 4 times that we tried to contact. She then proceeded to say it was not her problem. You will get transferred for hours on end for problems as simple as trying to find out your appointment time.

I have just been shouted at by a security guard in A&E because i sat in the wrong seating area when there are no signs to say certain areas are restricted. I was told my career can't sit with me even though other patients had people acompanyom I had a panic attack and had to leave. Disgusting treatment.

What a shamble in there. Currently pregnant so had to attend numerous appointments. All of which had been 45mns to 1hrs late or even cancelled on the spot because staff wasn't there. There is no communication what so ever between nurses, staff at the desk or doctors. This led me to re-book so so many appointment, I still have to work, so it has been a real pain. Planning to move out of the borough, and leave the chaos that rules Croydon services!

I have used this hospital as a patient, a visitor and mainly I have been a member of staff for many years. Those of us that put the hard work and genuinely care about the patients and their loved ones are fighting a losing battle against management. Bullying is widespread and endemic. They keep failing in their targets and the hospital is draining money. Sadly those who care leave and those who don't get promoted. Please don't ever think about working here, you might get lucky if you are a patient, but I would go elsewhere if I was you.

I've never been a fan of Mayday, or Croydon university hospital as I've had many visits to A&E over the last 26 years. However, when I went in for treatment on my twisted knee today, I was seen swiftly and even after an x-ray I was seen swiftly again. Dr Banerjee was incredibly helpful, swift and funny throughout the process! Well done Mayday????????

Worse experience ever. I had a operation in Elective Centre. The nurses there are extremely incompetent and unprofessional. They forgot to give me the dressing for my wound and I ended up in AE. I had to go back twice to the hospital after my operation because they forgot to give me something. I'd discourage anyone from going there! Stay away!

I went in for A&E on Monday the 9/11/20 and ended up having to stay a couple of nights. I went there with suddenly headache which was unbelievable painful and dangerous. The doctors were doing everything to find out what’s happening to me. From head CT scan to Lumbar puncture. They did not let me go until I was safe and get the results. The staff were attentive, super caring and so friendly, almost everyone was smiling and being happy . They work tirelessly to make you comfortable and feel better. The meals very nice and the hospital is COVID safe and so clean. I would like to say a big thank you to the AMU ward and especially to nurses Christina, Obi and Marlyn and for the two doctors who was doing my procedures also to Simon from discharge unit. Could not have asked for better care. Well done Mayday Hospital, thank you for looking after me.

I must say how pleased I am from the moment I entered and the moment I left the hospital. I was treated with care and compassion. I was treated as if I was each of the nurses and doctor family and they wants what is best for me. Special thanks to Torna on the AMU ward and also Lorna. Brilliant staff. Very passionate and patient the same. TM

Worst hospital ever. Don't go there if you are pregnant. Because of their negligencey you baby's life can be in danger. If you go there by chance please don't listen to them what they say. Of your water brakes tell them to take the baby out, please don't wait if they tell you to wait. I almost lost my baby. If you have contractions stay in the hospital it's your rights.

Definitely a strong contender for worst hospital in the NHS in my experience. Lost my partner's COVID test last July (hope he wasn't positive) and I have been waiting for nearly a year to see a specialist to find out if I have autoinflammatory arthritis. Not very encouraging during a Pandemic of an extremely infectious virus which people with autoimmune and autoinflammatory conditions are thought to be at greater risk of more severe illness and outcomes. Will be requesting my care be transferred to another, more competent hospital immediately.

Really terrible patient service and terrible care I was extremely disappointed with how my fiancé was treated. The level of professionalism from the staff and nurses is unbelievable!!! It’s disgusting and sad how they don’t care or look after sick vulnerable people. If I could rate the hospital 0 then I would... The staff members at the reception desk just stand there and gossip and they are very unfriendly and hard to approach. I could go on for days how horrible the customer service and level of care is...

Hate to put 1 star review as there are some nurses/staff that are absolutely wonderful here. But the vast majority are so rude and have so much attitude that they shouldn’t be working in this line of profession (the ones with attitude are often the young ones- purley ward especially)! It’s actually disgusting the lack of empathy and compassion thats shown and I can’t believe these people are allowed to work here. Management needs to fire these people and reevaluate their training and recruitment standards because something is very wrong here.

I'd need a book to sum up the care received. I was unfortunate enough to be stuck at this hospital for 10 days. 7 ward moves later, and no diagnosis. Sent home with pain killers instead. You're moved from pillar to post as most wards pride themselves with high turnover rates - regardless of whether or not a real diagnosis has been achieved (AMU). I have now gone private and receiving the long awaited care I was neglected of here. What am I paying money for each month then? Its counter productive. AMU is shocking and it's safe to say you'd be better off discharging yourself before spending a moment longer there. From the consultant Dr. N misdiagnosing and trying to discharge me with the wrong diagnosis despite my clear communications, to the doctors who followed him like sheep. AMU learn to listen to your patients and care for us - imagine if we were your family members. One poor woman had a patient sit on her and given we were still awaiting Covid results you'd have thought they'd have moved faster to help...no chance. That's just a snippet!!

Received a awful service at childrens paediatric. The doctor was not concerned with my childs conditions. Which was high temp and unwell. He kept leaving me in the room for 20 minutes 3 times. Didn’t even check my child properly. The rest of the staff were sitting around the reception moaning about nhs and general things whilst they had a reception full of other poorly children. I was extremely disappointed with the service.

Quite good, I normally go there for mental health related however it took them 2 hours or more when I had taken an overdose I get if they are busy but a child that has taken an overdose is possibly serious. However I understand. My brother (2) dislocated his elbow, he waited 1-3 hour or possibly more and the nurse was not nice, she was quite grumpy and didn’t look like she wanted to be there

At the reception desk and the very kind nurses at A&E they worried about me, until then very well then the doctors lousy, they took 8 vials of blood and without giving me an accurate diagnosis. They never told me what I had and I still feel bad. For me a bad experience.

This review is specifically for the Rhematology department who I rang chasing up an appointment as I'm incredibly worried about some of the symptoms I'm having. The person on the phone immediately jumped down my throat and was incredibly rude to me for no reason other than I had rang "too early" in the referral process. No need to speak to someone like. A simple explanation would have sufficed

Dad was kept in hospital for 11 days with no communication from hospital regarding his condition/discharge. Appalling level of care shown by nurses in Purley and AMU Wards. I asked the nurse (male with Indian accent in Purley Ward) for his name and he hid it so I can't complain about him. Do not send your loved ones here unless you're willing to stress about them more when they're in a hospital rather than at home.

Unbelievably rude and incompetent nurses. Came here for asthma attack and was handled extremely rude by the nurses, no patience, no compassion, nothing. Both of them diagnosed me with Covid-19 without a doctor present. They straight up said it in my face like it's nothing and told me to self isolate. Test came back negative. Outrageous and most definitely not legal to diagnose a patient without proof.

Visited on Thursday 8th October til Saturday 10th October. 1 star review is my rating because the care I received was appalling, no food, no person come asking me wether I wanted food plus the transport was slow to get arranged for me to go home, I waited from 16:30 on Friday 9th October til 00:15 on Saturday 10th October for transport, truly shocking. The reason they gave was they thought I wasn’t ready. The reason given for no food arrangement was that I was asleep. I was in MH room. Was in there from 6pm Thursday 8th October til 00:15 Saturday 10th October.

Formerly called Mayday, this hospital has not had the best reputation locally. Indeed when my son was admitted as an emergency case a few years ago there was actually a Burger King in the hospital. This has all gone now. So, I feel compelled to say how much it has improved. I have attended three times in the last couple of weeks. Everybody, without exception has been respectful, explained everything and answered all of my questions. The care has been wonderful. And all procedures carried out with competence and kindness. Thank you, and well done Croydon University Hospital. You have obviously been listening.
