Nice pub with good food. Make sure you book though as it is always busy. Great range of beers and the staff are friendly. Car parking is easy as long as it isn't too busy. Shame there isn't a great view from the outside tables. Not changed its menu in a while but all of the options are lovely.

Just came home from a day out in Bournemouth topped off with a wonderful dinner at the bear cross and what an excellent restaurant!! As someone with intolerances to many foods including gluten and lactose the menu was varied and accommodating to all my dietary needs. On top of that the food was absolutely out of this world and the service impeccable! 10/10 will go again!

Just had a family post xmas meal for 10.
The Service detail and ambience fab .
Food 3 course delicious.
Price within budget.
Been here many times but probably the best visit yet.
In summary of our visit they aimed to give good care and delivered exceptionally well.

My partner and I eat out alot and after 5 months of not being able to we decide to pop down to BC and I have to say the cleanliness and service was outstanding, the food and presentation was like fine dining but at a reasonable price. We don't normally have deserts but because the main was so delicious it interigued us to want a deserts which was also just as tasty .
Well done Bear Cross you nailed it after being closed due to Covid-19 we felt so comfortable eating in your restaurant now this will be our regular place to eat out.

Had another great meal last night...... 7 of us and a menu to suit all .... Always a pleasure, great staff, always friendly ....
The Steak and Ale pie is a master piece, the Steaks cooked as ordered, slow cooked lamb a treat.... And desserts, well what can I say.... Just order one that takes your fancy and you won't be disappointed....
And if you have a smaller appetite no need to worry that's catered for to.

I was actually quite sceptical walking into here but the food and service was absolutely fantastic. Me being a Burger man, I was very satisfied and would most definitely come back. The pudding however was very disappointing and definitely not home made I don’t thing as there was a slight bit of plastic in my partners double chocolate pudding (which tasted like sponge, not chocolate) however saying that, I will definitely return!

4 of us went to The Bear Cross for a meal and whilst there was nothing wrong with it, the food was mediocre and was not somewhere I was desperate to go back to. 2 steaks, chicken & salmon ordered all nice but missing something... Profiteroles however were to die for! I would go back just for the profiteroles. The atmosphere was also of the older generation.

Went here on Friday afternoon with my son and his partner. The staff were very attentive and service was outstanding my son and I had lamb steak in minted gravy with mash and seasonal very and his partner had creamy garlic chicken which she said was delicious to be fair our meal was delicious but about an hour after getting home my son was vomiting and had awful stomach cramps then about an hour later I had the same thing his partner was absolutely fine so we can only assume something was wrong with our two lamb meals. I hate giving bad reviews but would be interesting if anyone else had problems on friday

We celebrated my husbands birthday here yesterday and it was great. Food was fantastic. All 10 of us enjoyed our meals.
Food didnt take too long to come out which was great especially for the hungry kids (and adults). We had a really lovely time.

Just had a lovely meal at this venue. Two courses including drinks £60 for the three of us. Mains included steak pie, veg and new potatoes, salmon fillet on stir fry veg with noodles and crackers and slow cooked beef in red wine and mushroom sauce, veg and mash.
Puds were double chocolate pudding with ice cream, treacle sponge pudding with cream and apple and Summer fruit Crumble with custard.
Beautifully presented on warm plates with an excellent server.
Real lovely surprise and will visit again!!!!

The bear cross is our favourite place to eat and have a drink. We are always welcome here and the atmosphere is very friendly. The food is is always cooked fresh whether you choose from the menu or the specials board. It's worth a visit so book a table and relax in a comfortable environment.

Easy booking. Friendly, efficient staff. Relaxed atmosphere. The menu has a smaller portion on some of the choices. I had the most delicious gammon steak, my friend had the salmon and we both commented on how freshly prepared it was and the quality of the food. I didn't have a dessert but my friend did and it was beautifully presented.
The prices are not cheap however it's not overpriced either. Unlike some places, you pay for the the quality and freshness of the food as well as the ambiance of the Bear Cross itself.

As always, great food, and great service. This restaurant is always popular and it caters well for special diets (e.g. gluten free). It's casual dining done very well. We went on a Friday lunchtime and the restaurant was almost full. Prices represent good value.

Good overall. Nice uncontroversial menu, quite reasonably priced with a good range of meat and vegetarian meals. Fair sized portions with small appetite options on many dishes. A little surprising that the meat dishes both came with thick sauce already on the plate instead of in a separate boat. The chicken and bacon salad came with a very sweet mustard dressings already applied; perhaps a choice of others would be more appropriate. The service was good, all smiling and helpful.
