Lovely place with a lovely and pleasant atmosphere. I usually visit it before work in order to enjoy their good coffee. There are also amazing cupcakes which are perfecly prepared and served in an attractive way. If you are sugar addicted as I am, it's a right location for you.

Everything is beautiful about this place. But it took them a month for me to receive a refund due to being charged twice. Then there was nothing given for loyalty as a regular customer even though I went up there twice in-between the month for my refund.

Love this place. It has good fresh bread and croissants and muffins - all of them more than good! The cupcakes in my opinion are a must- whichever you pick, you won't go wrong, I guarantee that. As for the coffee - it is tasty and aromatic and the baristas are always friendly. I really enjoy going there again and again to try new and even tastier baked goodies that look like works of art.

Friendly staff, good cupcakes. A little difficult to see the cupcakes at first as it was busy/crowded in the small shop but the line moved fast and the variety of sweets became visible. Standard cupcakes, a monthly unusual cupcake, and various brownies and slices. October's 'chocolate and pumpkin' cupcake was really tasty.

Try as I might, I couldn't restrain myself to only one of their sinfully delicious sweet creations. I can't tell which sense of mine was more impressed and overwhelmed - everything looked enticingly well, smelled even more so and tasted divine. I tried the Red Velvet (of course) and the Black Bottom Cupcakes and I absolutely loved them both. I will definitely go back and try more - probably some of their monthly specials - because I am a weak human being.

I got a red velvet cupcake. I bought the cupcake before closing & the cake was a bit dry, but it tasted wonderful. I'm sure the cake would have been much more moist if I went in earlier during the day. Overall, I recommend these cupcakes.

If you order birthday cake/s.. they charge
+£2.50 for a hand written birthday message on cake . Had no idea. This is the first bakery I come across that charges for written icing on cake..
Other bakeries include written message in the actual cake pricelist.
For the price these guys charge for a 6-8 inch cake .. you can get better price and bigger or less for a reasonable price elsewhere. ???? ???? was good . The cake was kind of sweet but beautiful and a bit dry but the buttercream made up for it. All in all lovely! and Unique! Thanks.

If you are a fan of the good muffins and cupcakes- this can be your favourite place. According to me they have a nice flavour and texture. The cream is very sweet and if you try or order online the mini cupcakes or the chocolate bars you would not regret.

Just purchased my Mum's Rainbow Bday cake & the staff in Portobello were fast, friendly & efficient. Very impressed by the high level of customer service, welcoming atmosphere but overall the attention to detail that went into making my Hummingbird experience the best.

Worst staff ever. Cakes were ok (but overpriced) but the customer service is just awful. I almost threw my cake on the snickering girls in front of me. They would ruin a far better bakery with their nasty behavior.

A packed but fast service bakery, a little difficult to see what's on offer before they start asking you what you want to order though (they ask at the beginning of the counter rather than at the end). But the cupcakes are good, if a little top heavy on the icing.

Whatever you do, make sure you order the red velvet cupcakes here... and the black bottom ones too. Yes, they're not the cheapest ones around but they're delicious. And of course, you can always buy the cookbook and start making them at home yourself (that's what I do!)

I was so disappointed when they told me there were no vegan options in there. Such a famous place specialised in cupcakes, not giving even a single choice for vegans. Whole Food, for comparison, has a huge selection with minimum five different kind of vegan pancakes, also suitable for lactose intolerants.

Incredible cupcakes and sweet treats to enjoy whilst exploring Portabello market! The red velvet cupcake is the best one in town and the brownies are probably the best I've ever tried! The cupcakes make a good present as they are decorated so well!

I am asian. I visited this place three years ago, and missed the flavor so much. I visited this store today but so much disappointed. An woman worker who has tattoo in chest put my cupcakes on paper(every other customers get theirs in pretty paked box.) She looked like throw my cupcakes. It was very rude. I think she do racism.

I travelled all the way to this shop from hampshire as i had heard great things. However i was very disapointed when i arrived. The shop itself look a bit scruffy and the variety of cakes was not good. We also were told that they had ran out of toppings including sprinkles however the cakes were still charged at the same high prices. I will not use these bakeries again.

You haven't really tasted a cupcake until you've experienced the Hummingbird Bakery. As one of the original purveyors of the Noughties foodie phenomenon, they deserve your custom. And you won't be dissapointed! My recommendation - try the Red Velvet - totally scrummy! And of course, after filling yourself with Hummingbird's delights, you can check out all the colourful shops and stalls along Portobello Road.

I got extremely sick by their food, especially the cupcake, I was vomiting and diarrhea, I did contact them but they didn't care at all! This is ridiculous, and I will send them hygiene as it's probably so disgustingly nasty in their kitchen, this is why people are getting sick!
Don't go there and risk your health, the management is arrogant and don't want to be blamed!
