I initially opened a Revolut account to transfer money from my US bank account to a British bank account, but quickly found their services in the US were far limited from what they advertise and can offer Revolut account holders in the EU/UK. Namely, the US version doesn’t accept wire transfers, so trying to transfer money from my bank was an absolute nightmare. Also, my bank told me the routing number provided by Revolut was not legit, and it was extremely difficult to get real human support, which is only available via chats once you find a way to defeat the chatbot. Anyway, after a lot of frustration and panic about missing the good GBP/USD fx rate, I finally switched to OFX. They accept wire transfers in the US, and when I had a question, I was able to quickly find a contact number, didn’t wait even a minute before I spoke to a real person, and they answered the question straight away. It was WONDERFUL. Then, after setting up my account in full, I got a call from a different OFX rep in Canada, who called to say he saw I had a new account and if I wanted to lock-in to an exchange rate for a future planned transfer. YES. I almost cried with relief. He gave me the quote for a $30k+ transfer, I accepted and filled out the required information, and was sent an email confirmation for the details and date the transaction was to occur. My bank had no problems wiring the money over, but the funds arrived a couple days after what I had originally scheduled with OFX. Despite the fact, they honored the locked-in exchange rate and I received the quoted amount in full (minus a £25 fee from the receiving UK bank) less than 48 hours from when my bank had sent them the wire. So incredibly grateful and 100% will be using OFX for future international transfers. Thank you OFX.

Reliable FX transfer service, great PIP if you ask. A lot of the 1-star reviews stem from a problem they had a few months ago, where they unfortunately bulk-emailed / SMSd a whole load of existing customers with a spammy-looking message. It was pretty bad, but not enough to write the whole company off. At the end of they day they provide a reliable FX transfer service, process transfers in a reasonable time (days not weeks, as some others do), and are willing to negotiate a good PIP.

Deal ID 3B379003. This was meant to be transferred and completed by 2nd Feb 2021. They asked for more details has been provided on 3rd Feb 2021. Waited for 7 working days for their Bank SLA still no transfer. The two staff Dean Weller and Alex Edwards keep saying that OFX is dealing with the bank relationship manager to complete, after chasing them with over 30 emails, then turned silence for weeks. No transfer, no refund, no contacts - 40K USD basically be stolen.

First two times I used OFX Transfer everything went very well but the last two or three times there were always some issues and, as the CS is based in Canada, it is quite difficult to sort things out quickly...so have to wait. Also I was very surprised by the customer service response - not very professional. They didn't ask me for the exact issues, no apologies, I was asked to transfer the money on their Barclays account and that's it.  As I mentioned in my email, I am sorry to tell you that I won't be using your services again as I just find a new way to send money. Many thanks. Viorica

We have used OFX for many years now and they have only ever given us a professional secure service in all that time. I have gone so far as to recommend them to other companies we do business with, and would not hesitate from recommending them again to anyone looking to pay for goods they are importing from overseas.Martin CaunceDirector.

Absolute rubbish. There were delays between the banks from OFX side and meanwhile I was sent misinformation about funds transferred to my beneficiary. It has been two working weeks my transfer has still not reached my beneficiary. Appalling company, misinformation and no customer acknowlegement. This was my first transfer and a very very bad experience. Please stay well away from O F... X

Non-GDPR compliant. Just got spam texted from Dean Weller, OFX - stating i need to 'finalise my account' and i need to call them. I have not requested an account and unsubscribed several months ago from OFX marketing. In addition, the reply STOP number does not work in the text message and the Privacy Policy link in their marketing emails (dated July 2020) do not work.

I keep receiving unsolicited text messages from this company asking me to "call them for a chat". I've never dealt with this company, nor want to. I've reported a GDPR breach.

I'm puzzled by the numerous extremely negative reviews here, including the people who state flatly that OFX doesn't do currency exchange at all. Anyhow, OFX most certainly does do movement of currency from one country to another. Maybe it's not "exchange", strictly speaking - but it WORKS. Extremely efficiently, no glitches, very rapid, very simple, very streamlined, no charges or fees at all. You transfer your money from your account to the OFX account here in the UK - and they deposit the equivalent amount of foreign currency in your destined payee's account abroad. It works perfectly, as far as I can tell.

I have used OFX for over 15 years now. They have excellent rates - far better than the banks, western union or PayPal. People giving negative reviews have to understand that Money Laundering is a massive problem and OFX operates in a very tightly regulated and monitored industry, any holds ups or holding onto cash is due to them obeying the law, and this protects us all even if it is inconvenient for a few days

This company is basically running an operation where they will deem a transfer within the European Union to be "high risk" and then just hold the funds (and probably earn interest on them). If you don't follow up with them regularly for updates on your transfer, they won't even let you know something is wrong. It's a nice little gig, where clients transfer money using same day facilities and then OFX just hold the funds for days while their "compliance team" reviews it. Asked why a simple payment for a perfectly legal product, purchased from a company within the EU, is "high risk", the response is "we can't disclose that". Avoid.

I've been using OFX for 15 years, for all different kinds of FX crosses. They started the model of cheap FX rates as an alternative to retail bank FX rates. I've never had a problem. Yes you do have to transfer your funds to their bank account and it does take a day or so to show up on the other side. That's how currency transfers work. Go Retail bank if you don't like it. I'm not sure why all the bad reviews over this model.

They say it will take 2 days to transfer money after they've received your payment but then, surprise surprise, it takes over a week, with no explanation given by the customer service team. Use a different money transfer provider that can guarantee transfer of funds within a set time frame (assuming no issues).

I spent weeks trying to find the best rate to transfer money from NZ to France. When i found UKforex they had the best rate by far, yet none of the comparators i used before mentionned them. I was expecting bad surprises or hidden fees but i had none of that. My mum got exactly the money they promised me, customer support is excellent as well. I will definitely use them again

I've been using OFX (formerly UK Forex) for business and personal transfers for years now and always found them to be professional, courteous as well as give good rates. Would recommend.
