I feel very sorry for people who have had bad experiences. My own experience was nothing but positive. I started seeing a therapist here about a year ago. She was very skilled and has made a huge difference. Unfortunately she had to end our therapy abruptly recently, but this would have been for a very good reason, and WPF offered me another therapist but I feel now that I no longer need help. I will definitely return there if I want or need help in future.

I live near to this office and their alarm has been repeatedly going off during the lockdown. They can take days to reply to messages or turn it off. I have asked them repeatedly if they would review the setup of their alarm system, but they have not. They have been particularly evasive and obnoxious about the issue. I have found them to be passive aggressive and inconsiderate neighbours. This wouldn't lead me to feel confident in any services they provide.

I only have to say good things! The wait was long but worth it! . They are very professional, extremely helpful and kind; I always feel safe and comfortable to share my thoughts with my therapist. He really helped me a lot to face my challenges and helped me to understand my behaviors. Specially during lockdown I don't know how I would had come without these sessions.. Sadly he couldn't continue with the sessions and I got assigned another therapist , and then three sessions I had with her, Were also extremely helpful!! I highly recommend it.

After some traumatic events including with my landlord I became very severely depressed. I turned to WPF for help. The assessment I received was insightful and I was provided with a good therapist. The very severe depression began to lift. Therefore my therapeutic experience has been a good one. However, I agree with some of the comments here about WPF's policies and management that are imho less than ideal. The assessor decided that I needed open-ended therapy, and he was right. I asked for an experienced therapist. Some time into therapy I discover that therapy with an experienced therapist can only be for one year - WPF policy and no exceptions or flexibility. Consequently therapy ended and I wasn't anywhere near ready. I'm not sure those managing WPF have a good handle on the therapeutic process. There seems to be a disparity between the therapists and the WPF business.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. I recommend you don't go here. Nothing against the therapist - finding my therapist was the only good thing about going to this awful organisation. Anyway, I was with them for 2.5 years (with the same therapist), and because of the pandemic I left the country (mind you - I still have my address and job there, so I keep paying rent and taxes in this country, and I will return at some point but under the current circumstances it's hard to tell when exactly), so after a while of having been away and having continued the distanced therapy, my therapist suddenly informed me that WPF's insurance doesn't cover patients who are abroad for whatever obscure reason, meaning I was left without help quite suddenly during an especially difficult period in the course of my therapy. Honestly, that sort of defeats the purpose of the type of therapy I was getting. What utter rubbish. I understand that this does not necessarily apply to everyone thinking about getting therapy from WPF, as the current circumstances are unusual. But quite frankly I find the whole organisation to be highly unprofessional. Also the horrible rooms with no windows and the depressingly ugly carpet and uncomfortable chairs. In fact, I am grateful I'll never have to go there again. So one star for the fact that I never have to see this dump again. I can only repeat - don't go here.

Terrible, had a course of therapy (a few years ago) with no goals, no guidance, no effort to help me understand the process. Definitely best avoided.

I can't speak for other reviewers' experiences but I've seen a lot of progress in my one-on-one therapy sessions here. There's a lot of care involved, and the experience has worked both to target deeper issues and to alleviate current ones. Personally I'm not a fan of WPF's policy on cancelling appointments (no amount of notice suffices, you pay either way) but I understand it's a small practice - and on the money side it's extremely helpful that they scale their costs depending on your wages.

I highly recommend WPF Therapy to prospective clients and trainees alike. My experience of this organisation is that it is professional and ethical offering meaningful experiences in a safe and contained environment.

I trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy at WPF and returned to work later for the organisation. My experience has been that WPF works hard at providing a good experience through the recruitment of trained staff and providing a safe environment. I have found the organisation to have a good work ethic. The counselling skills training is impressive. It’s insightful and helpful for anyone thinking of starting therapy or simply wanting to get to know more about themselves. Therapy assessments are often in-depth and detailed and clients should feel adequately informed by this experience which can help them decide whether to embark on therapy.

I in fact read all the Google Reviews before I started therapies at WPF. I should have taken all those negative reviews as a warning sign but I did not - I believed what Juliette's and some others' positive posts. I trusted the wrong thing. I understand that in order for the therapy to work at its best, it's better for one to establish a sort of connection with one's therapist, whilst whether this connection can be formed is down to, say, fate. However, I can only use the word "unprofessional" to describe behaviours from when the therapists take things personally, even if it was assured that nothing was ever directed at them. Moreover, the policy on leaves and cancellations is terrible. **Make sure you find out at the very start, or they will not tell you until you have already started. And if you only find it unsuitable then, you would have wasted a lot of time already.** Really, think about it: in majority of the cases, people are only bothered to write a review out of their own will if the experience has been negative. I have been there, people around me have been there, and I have been asked by friends to write five-star reviews for the companies they work for just to cover the negative reviews on Google. I did not put down one star because I genuinely think the experience is worth only one star, but that the overall rating for this organisation should not be over two stars as it is showing now.

All of the reviews here are spot on. Very odd and unrealistic cancellation/rescheduling rules. Reception lady on a Thursday is rude. I just paid for 4 weeks worth of sessions just to get out of it. Compared to others, this is one of the worst experiences I have had. My feeling is this will be/should be shut down very soon.

I'm astonished by the negativity of some of these reviews. I have had two extremely good therapists here. The first had to leave after about 8 months for personal reasons (I think an illness in the family), and I am still in therapy with the second therapist who is highly skilled and experienced, as well as being compassionate and caring. WPF has a sliding scale of fees, which make it affordable for almost everyone, are located in the heart of London Bridge, and have a very good reputation. They are a training institute, but that is not a secret, and all those attending who left negative reviews would have been informed of that by WPF. It is hard for me not to conclude that the people leaving them were doing a bit of projecting...

The comments which appear on the Google search page don't fit my experience at all. I took part in a WPF therapy group in the 1980s and have been participating in one for the past year. I've always found them to be thoroughly professional and extremely helpful. They also offer therapy on a sliding scale based on your income.

Beware of negative reviews on this site; these people, perhaps unwisely, certainly unconsciously, are reflecting their own difficulties of approaching therapy, not the quality of psychodynamic psychotherapy at WPF, which is first-class and nationally renowned, both for the quality of its work and its training. A wonderful place to start your therapeutic journey, either as a client or an aspiring therapist. Good luck.

Paid 200 pounds to have an assessment, sessions cancelled last minute and still had to pay and finally to get told they ‘didn’t offer that kind of therapy’. Horrible, evil place.

Agree totally with the negative reviews of WPF. What a complete waste of my time. I came for the initial consultation on the 1st of December 2018. I waited and waited 2 months later I call to see whats going on told I'm still on the waiting list I will be allocated soon. After the 3rd month they tell me I have been allocated with a therapist. No correspondence at all from the therapist thats when I started to get suspicious. I called the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy and BPS (British Psychological Society) and gave the name of the therapist they all told me he was not a registered member. I then sent an email in saying that I wanted to know exactly what qualifications the therapist that I had been allocated had and if I didn't get this information I would cancel my booked session and go elsewhere. Next I received a call from Clinical Lead who left a voicemail. I called back and tried to leave a voicemail. The Clinical Lead then emailed 20 mins later to tell me that the therapist I had waited 3 months for was in fact a trainee. and if it was ok to call me. I emailed back saying yes thats fine . Yes folks untrained. She called me to ask if I had any issues with having a trainee. I explained "You waited 3 months to give me a trainee no thanks I'll find a professional from the BACP/UKCP websites".She then back tracked and offered me a Senior Member of Staff who she said was |' Qualified". By this time I had heard enough and ended the call.. So my advice is if you want a Qualified Therapist who is actually trained and a member of a recognised UK Governing Body I advise you to go elsewhere ie check out the BACP/UKCP websites and choose from there. WPF are a joke another thing if they say they are an Organisational Member of BACP/UCKP understand that only ONE member of staff needs to be a BACP/UKCP member for this to happen it doesn't mean they are all BACP/UKCP members. How do I know this information? Members of Staff at the UKCP AND BACP both told me this when I called them... AVOID WPF like the plague ................It's better to pay more and get someone qualified than less and get a trainee. Complete shambles from start to finish... Avoid! One more thing from my initial consultation 1st December 2018-allocated start date March 16th 2019.. =15 WEEKS/3 Months & 3 weeks complete JOKE!!

I was in individual therapy here. The supervision of therapists in training needs to be seriously improved. Mine started lashing out at me when I decided I wanted to go somewhere else, laying the blame everywhere but with the therapy. It culminated in her putting me down and laughing at me during the last session. The admin of the therapist was atrocious: It happened twice that she couldn't make it but told the front desk that she'd communicate that directly to me - completely forgetting to do so and leaving me coming there all for nothing. With their cancellation policy and allowance of 2 sessions that you may take off in a year you're better off going somewhere with higher rates and get a professional therapist. If you decide to go definitely keep your invoices and proof of payment - they wrongly claimed I hadn't paid for some sessions. When I sent them the paperwork I got a weak apology after all the accusations. Really disappointed with this place.

Didn't find the experience here helpful. Therapist was not very well trained, she seemed very unhappy and all our sessions were quite silent and awkward. She was defensive and tried to prove that my life got better after her therapy when i mentioned that we dont seem to have a goal and she is asking me random questions each session and cant remember what we talked about in previous session. It definitely got better after i stopped therapy! I would stress out about coming here everytime. I now found a very good therapist who is friendly and makes me feel relaxed. 2 allowable to cancel sessions per year (i.e. assuming that you only have 2 weeks of holiday), and very strict cancellatillon. Went there with a flu once, and just hoped that my therapist gets it as i wasnt sure i was allowed to cancel if i wasnt dead. Do not use.

I saw a therapist there once. The therapy rooms are austere and soulless and mostly located in the basement. They do not have any natural light and often there can be a staff leaving party (with the smell of chicken pervading the whole area) in the larger rooms at the back on a Friday night with associated noise and doors slamming. They don't give any refunds for cancellations no matter what level of notice is given to cancel a room booking and the reception staff seemed pretty scatty. My therapist (a private room renter) was often told to call back as the room booking software was not loaded on the computer which the receptionist was currently sitting at. The reception staff also cancelled a room booking that had been confirmed for a session, without any logical explanation. Avoid.

Agree with all the negative reviews about this service which I have just attended. Beware their unfair charging for sessions you dont attend even giving more than 2 weeks notice . Useless in a crisis situation even when proactively asking for help , and then a double whammy of threatening bailiffs just a couple of weeks after sending their final invoice. Less of a "charity" and more of unscrupulous money grabbers . Avoid.

Awful experience. Makes me sad to think some helpless people are entrusting these people with their lives.

Most of the people you'll see are trainees. They will be inept. The administration of inept therapists is also inept. Quite farcical really.Save your money but most importantly, save your time. This is not a worthwhile venture.
