I was scared to change practice when I moved to a different area but I didn't need to be. This is a great practice, staff are wonderful and GP took time from her day to call and check to see if I needed extra time. Really do feel cared for. Happy patient.

The staff (receptionists and doctors) are great and so patient. Unfortunately whoever is in charge of this surgery has destroyed the system. 5 hours waiting at home for a telephone appointment and can never get to see doctors face to face. Can only wonder how stressed the receptionists are! The people make the NHS great, the system needs overhauling

Normally very good. Lots of new doctors, so I have only seen a few of them (3/12 drs). When very busy you can expect the odd short temper from some staff, just like anyone else. Staff are often extremely busy so please try to be helpful and be nice.

This Health center does not respond on time to the requests claiming that they do not have enough staff. Our life insurance company have been waiting for their report (which is not free neither) since a month ago and AV health center said they still need an extra 4 weeks to send it to the L.I. company. We have contacted this health centre personally to chase it up, think that should not be necessary if they work accordingly.

Consistently good through the years - the doctors always listen, are well-informed and do their utmost to act in the best interests of the patient. Echo the others - the phone wait times can be long, and trying to get through for an emergency appointment at 8am is almost impossible (some kind of online booking system might help here?), but they are incredibly busy and do a great job when you are seen.

Very poor service, Doctors won't see you, diagnose over the phone, most of them no idea what they talking about. Cure symptoms not the cause. Dare to send you a message "we operate as normal".

This is a fantastic surgery but they are very, very busy. I have a chronic condition which requires a fair amount of attention and can never fault them, from the receptionists to the Dispensary to the nurses and doctors themselves. I can't always speak clearly on the phone but, even if they are rushed off their feet, the receptionists never show any impatience or try to fob me off Like any surgery, calling can be hit-and-miss but, outside the very busy times (explanations to follow) just hang on. You WILL be answered and you won't be fobbed off. If they had the standard abrasive, rude "gatekeeper" receptionists you'd get a quicker answer, but the exchange for the wait is their care and attention. The busiest time is from 8am, when day's appointments are released. You will have to ring and ring from 8 on the dot; it can take several tries to get into the queue. But these are emergency appointments - again, the trade-off is that, ring early enough and try hard enough and you will see a doctor that day. Other busy times are lunchtime and around 4.30 due to their prescription timings, so if you don't want to be hanging on too long, try outside these times. I've been with this practice for twenty years and cannot count the times they've bent over backwards for me. If you are sick, they will find you an appointment. If you need an emergency prescription, they'll pull out all the stops. If you pass out in the waiting room (ahem) you'll be picked up and looked after. They run a twelve-hour day, they come out in special circumstances, they will ring you if needed. Yes, it can be a trial to get through sometimes, but the service is exemplary.

Not quite perfect, but they're trying their best. Appointments can be booked online. That's a better option than joining the long phone queue and awaiting a (kettle never boils) callback from a duty doctor. If you don't need to speak with a doctor same day, look top right on the webpage and click on "Patient Access". If it's more urgent, use the 111 telephone service or, in an emergency, dial 999. We need to remember it is a Health Centre, and NOT an Emergency Service. Routine, long-term health. Dialing 111 will get you through to someone who is medically trained and, if the matter is diagnosed as urgent, they can put you through to the right people; even ordering an ambulance if required. If you're unhappy about this situation, then our Member of Parliament, Michael Gove, is the representative of the government who got us into a situation where there are not enough doctors to meet our needs. It's a problem that will only get resolved if we complain to our MP. Ash Vale Health Centre is doing its best, but can't increase its funding to hire more doctors.

Under the circumstances - wonderful. The receptionist staff could not have been more helpful, and always very happy. Yes, it did take a long time for the phone to be answered, but it was always answered. Thank you to everyone!

I phoned the practice today, hoping to get an appointment whenever possible. I was greeted by a very pleasant receptionist who founds a slot for me today!!! Very please. I know how crazy busy they are and I appreciate their efforts very much. I want to congratulate our NHS staff, they are our heroes.

Great doctors, great staff but now they have implemented the most bizarre appointment system where you cannot book in advance and they will only issue appointments on the day of the call and only once you have spoken to a DR... With approx 27k of patients on their books (source NHS Choices), how will that work? The practice manager has a habit of having meetings whilst the Dr is supposed to be seeing the patient. Maybe it's so they can book an appointment first! :)

Rude staff, unable to contact by phone even if trying all day long. Unable to see a doctor, always asked to call later - nobody picks up.once I managed to speak to a nurse and was asked to describe a condition - the nurse asked me if I have checked on Internet before calling. I simply can not believe that for seeing a real doctor face to face you have to go through such a rediculous process... Terrible

I normally go here and i couldn't fault it! But the last time i went i was having my implant re-done as many of you know.. it hurts, its very panicky.. well the doctor i had was very very rude. i tried making a conversation with her to distract myself and she shot me down immediately. she wasn't telling me what she was doing or what was going wrong. all she kept saying is 'oh iv put to much anesthetic in' or 'oh you might have to go to hospital' My Friend that was with me saw i was becoming very distressed and helped me through the pain. After leaving the doctors the next day My bandages came of! the scar shes left me on my arm will be forever. Might i just add.. This was my third one and iv never experienced this much rudeness ever!!!!! i WILL not be coming back here to get it taken out.

Very poor service as they never answer the phone when you call. I know surgeries are busy but to keep ringing all the time is ridiculous. My daughter has been ill all over the holiday. The reason you can never get an appointment is they don't answer to give you one.

The new system is excellent; spoke to a doctor, prescription sent to the pharmacy, and collected all within the hour. Brilliant.

Fed up with telephone appointments. Always ruins my entire day waiting for a call back. I work full time too. Could have sorted the problem with one face to face appointment.

Used to be an excellent practice but have now implemented the most crazy and uncaring system possible for trying to see a doctor. They want you to tell receptionists what's wrong with you and refuse to book an appointment unless you wait for a phone call from a doctor. Incredibly inconvenient and I expect people will die as a result of this terrible new system. You CANNOT safely diagnose an issue over the phone. Problems will be missed and people will suffer as a result. There has to be a better way!!!

I’ve phoned for the last 3 days, just get put on hold and told I’ll have to tell receptionist my ailments and then a doctor will phone. Also that I cannot book a future appointment!! Well after wasting a total for 3 hours on hold I have given up and gone to the walk in clinic, no wonder the NHS is failing when you cannot even speak to a doctor!!

Every time I try and ring to make an appointment no one ever picks up the phone sick and tired of it, this week I have rung 3 days and twice on them days and still no answer beyond a joke!!!! Thinking of applying to be a receptionist maybe then someone will answer the phone, now looking to move my family elsewhere!!!!

Terrible! Virtually impossible to make an appointment, you have to call at 8am to book appointment for the day and you cannot book for the next day. Who is the imbecile that created this system?
