I had a poor value meal here of an overpriced vegetable sandwich at £8.50, chosen because it was the only remotely healthy choice in the menu. They won’t print your receipt - instead it has to be texted or emailed and then viewed online. I’m glad I bothered to check as I had been overcharged. Presumably not printing the receipts is for environmental reasons, which is risible given that food is served in polystyrene containers accompanied by plastic cutlery.

Friends and l had a good meal here today Cajun burger and steak meal. V nice. Did not have a too long a wait.. Pretty prompt in fact. Staff friendly. The pot plants could be watered more as many looked pretty near deaths door. Staff said some are fake, well, time to get some more ???? Otherwise worth a visit !

Lovely house converted into a cafe and restaurant. Great venue for a wedding or event. Parking available on site. We went for afternoon tea but you do have to book in advance. We then sat down in the cafe area of the house. Room for approx 20 people. Service was average, coffee took a while to arrive. Not great value for money but it is a great place to visit for views and property. Might try it again on a different day.

Beautiful surroundings had a lovely walk around the grounds then a winter afternoon tea . Only negative just after Christmas(28th) they were short off staff so we had to wait 50 mins after the time we sat down . This should be addressed for the future. I'll Definately return tho

Lovely afternoon tea in real nice surroundings. Stanmer park is a great place to visit and for kids n dogs to run about. The house is lovely inside. We sat upstairs with views over the park. Particularly liked the sandwiches

Lovely house and very grand. Also very expensive! Great for teas and drinks whilst walking. Amazing in the summer. Perfect wedding or event venue! Quiet, upmarket and idyllic

visited today for coffee with a friend and I am glad to say it seems to have turned a corner! Having had terrible reviews for so long since being run by Proud it now has new staff who are friendly and efficient! Even the dog was welcome and given a bone! We will definitely go back as it is such a great location

Absolutely appalling. Cancelled my sisters afternoon tea hen party, with less than 48 hours notice - despite having received payment for the booking months before. Haven’t visited and never will after such a let down. Thankful to The Grand in Brighton who saved the day and provided the best afternoon tea I’d ever had!

Lots of charm and character here. We just had a hot chocolate, and it was good. Too bad there is no live band the 1st Sunday of each month

Hoped to stop here for lunch before having a walk. But it was strangely all shut-up despite the website saying it was open 10-6 on the Saturday. The outside area was good and it looked nice through the windows...

(DO NOT GO THERE) booked a cream tea for my girlfriends parents for Christmas and they tried booking a table for two with the voucher today and was told pretty much no. They said they are under refurbishment and when my girlfriends parents asked when they could rebook they said they had no idea and they should probably go and get a refund. This was obviously embarrassing for me and them. I'm honestly so angry. They told my girlfriends parents that it was naughty for the company I bought the voucher from to be selling it but by judging other reviews they are just horrendously bad at reliability.

I came with my mother and partner to a bottomless Brunch deal that got emailed to me for a good price. We have been to Stanmer House before for brunch (not bottomless) and it was great. We found the service and the food to be amazing. The servers were kind and attentive. They were also accommodating to our little. In particular, Bruno and Alex were superior in their service. They made the experience that much better and were so friendly and had a "can-do" attitude! We loved it but did get quite drunk! Definitely will be coming back. The pancakes and fruit salad were fantastic!

AVOID!!!! Non reliable venue!!! I made a large group booking for an event 4 months in advance and paid fully upfront. I received a phone call less than 48 hours before the event to tell me they were no longer going to be open on Saturdays and therefore cancelled our booking!!! I also had to ask for my refund which I was told would take up to 10 days!! Completely disgraceful!! Use to be a lovely venue until it was taken over a few years ago!! Such a shame!

Had a very nice lunch here on Easter Monday today. Roast lamb was very nice, plenty of meat and very tender. We sat outside in the sun afterwards for teas and coffees. Could've done with more umbrellas for shade in the garden, but didn't seem to affect the popularity. Little children's playground, which the kids liked and helpfully shaded by some trees. Great for a sunny day

Attended a 40th Birthday, the grounds and building looks lovely. very ornate decor, I liked the way the rooms that were used kept their character, staff were very polite and friendly. I would think that this place would be great as a wedding venue.

Spent a lovely afternoon listening to the Stanmer House Band (1st Sunday of every month)- they're extremely talented and very versatile! The house and grounds are lovely too - a perfect sunny summer Sunday.

We had a fantastic lunch experience here. Although the place was very busy, the service was very warm and courteous. The French-inspired food was delicious; we ordered the sole and the veggie mains (mushroom/butternut squash) and both came with mouthwatering sauces (lobster and tomato respectively). We had a scone as well and it was one of the best we ever had - warm, fresh, and tasty!! Overall, great food and great service made for a memorable outing.

Excellent breakfast experience here this morning, not cheap, but worth every penny. Charming young and enthusiastic staff made both us and our bosterious Jack Russell welcome, even serving him his own bowl of water! The breakfast was very good quality and perfectly cooked, I particularly enjoyed the sausages and (not overly) smoked bacon, we also really liked the sourdough toast served with it.

Stunning house, beautiful grounds. Customer service is a little below average which is really unfortunate as this place could be amazing. Staff are friendly enough but their efficiency and training lacks hugely. Often big unnecessary queues due to slow staff. However, DO NOT let that put you off, still worth going for the great setting etc.

It is a 5 star location in summer. So beautiful. Sunday roast was avrage. I would rate the food itself 3 star if it was below 10 pounds , but at 18 pounds plus 12.5% service charged it was or £20 per roast so it will drop to 2 star and service was 3 star too despite being hugely over staffed. At points 5 staff were chatting in the bar yet we had to wait to ask for something. I am going to rate the overall experience as 3 star . If it wasn't for location it would have been a 2 star. It is a bit of shame as I believe with their high prices and nice location they have the potential of doing a lot better.

They were still setting up their tent for serving people in the outdoor seating area, so the service wasn't the best. My friend got a dirty cup which didn't get replaced even after we had pointed it out. They wouldn't let you use thier indoor toilets and we were pretty much looked down at as we were wearing shorts and flip flops.

Went recently went and was disappointed with evetything. Compared to the cost, the food was poor and lacking in quantity even for a buffet. Scratched paint work, broken windows and mirrors. Their bar was just a table with a white sheet on top. And the front entrance is covered in dead box hedging in pots. Overall i was every disappointed and felt worse for my friend who booked the place. It was a good place but not anymore

Drove an hour and a half from Surrey, only to find the house was closed - despite the information on your website stating that it was open Wednesday through to Sunday during the Summer. “During Summer we are open to the public from 10am from Wednesday to Sunday. From 1st October – 29th November the house is CLOSED to the public from Monday-Friday. From 30th November to 1st January we are open every day from 10am.”

Well what can you say, we took the dogs here as the grounds are massive and great for a lovely walk through the woods, plenty of parking, then we went for lunch in the house but we ended up having just a couple bits of cake and a hot chocolate.. The cake was dryer than your washing hanging on your line on a hot summers day.. The hot chocolate was more like hot water. They didn't seemed bothered they just gave us a few pence of the bill.. On the plus side they are dog friendly

Good job I checked the website first as they're not actually open to the public until Wednesday and I was going to come on Monday. However, when we did finally get to see what the fuss was all about, we were very happy. The service was brilliant (Evelyn was our server), lunch very tasty and surroundings beautiful. You'd never think that it's 10 minutes drive from the city centre!

Love Stanmer Park, Great first impressions on this occasion , however things quickly went down hill after ordering. Came for lunch on a quiet day, Mum & Son. Charged for wrong drinks, still haven't received refund, had to ask twice for drinks to come. Food was alright, burger bit tough and Chips did not arrive with burger. Not great but will return as we love Stanmer and the restaurant and attached rooms are beautiful.

We booked an afternoon tea at this establishment. On arrival, there was no Maitre d' to welcome us and the overall service was offhand. There was no 'tea menu'; just a choice of tea bags. The food was just plonked down with 'there's your afternoon tea'. No description of the food; soggy sandwiches; no enquiry to ask if everything was alright; dusty and dirty surroundings. On the plus side the scones were nice. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. Shame!

Perfect place in the heart of the countryside to grab a bite to eat. Although it's not the cheapest place you could chose to eat, you definitely get what you pay for and to top it off your'e surrounded by acres and acres of beautiful British countryside. My waitress was Evie and she was super helpful and fast. If I ever have a need for it, I would love to hire this place out for a private event.

This used to be a lovely place to come to for lunch or tea during the daytime on a dog walk. It used to have a wonderful atmosphere, and was often full to the brim with happy people enjoying a warm friendly atmosphere sharing space by the fireplaces and clinking glasses and laughter. Since it reopened under new management it has been awful every time we have gone here. Even if it’s empty (which it often is now), the service takes forever and every single time there has been a problem with the order, after waiting forever for it to come. They stopped doing sandwiches and affordable lunches for dropping in on your walk. Everything is massively overpriced and poncy beyond belief, and the quality does not match the price. Eg, you used to be able to get the most delicious hot chocolate here made with real chocolate buttons. The new management stuck the price up and now it’s made with rubbish instant powder. You even have to take your walking boots off at the door now. It’s absurd. The atmosphere is poor, cold and echoey. Everyone goes to the lovely cafe / tea room around the corner now instead which does better food for half the price. Such a shame, we all used to love this place.

Is this ok? Reviewers that only review venues owned by Alex Proud..all good? Why not make the venue great instead of historically posting great fake reviews across all social media platforms? I'm so shocked

Food was good, wine was expensive but other drinks prices were as you'd expect. Went on a jazz night and that was great - would definitely recommend. Staff were all very nice but service was hit and miss. The couple next to us waited for nearly an hour for food. Overall would recommend and would go again. If I could would give 4 and 1/2 stars not 5 but don't feel it deserves just 4.

It's not the same. I loved taking my family there for breakfast, lunch or a roast etc after or before a walk. Now it's lost its charm and the food is mediocre... Being going there for a few years. I've tried it 3 times in the last 6 months. I won't be going back. Shame...

My partner arranged a surprise family lunch, for my Birthday. Twelve of us were in the private dining area and the service and food we received was excellent. A number of 'amendments' were made to the dishes ordered and the staff remembered every one of them. They never had to check who had ordered what and none of the guests were left with an empty glass, before a member of staff subtly appeared. Without doubt the best beef I've eaten, preceded by excellent starters. Other guests 'waxed lyrical' about their choices - and the desserts were really tasty! The ambiance, staff and food added to an excellent day - thank you to them. A special mention to the manager, who looked after us really well. He even took time to show us the function rooms on the 1st floor ( thank you for the picture next to knight by the way ). Stunning rooms and location. Thank you Bruno for all your hospitality.

Lovely winter woodland walk, followed by hot chocolate and cake in the house. I especially love the fireplaces, even if I do end up smelling like a bonfire.

The food was great. We went for the Sunday roast. Unfortunately the service was very slow and they'd forgotten to put in our dessert orders so we waited nearly an hour.
