I got my hair bleached, toned and cut for a fraction of the price of a regular salon and am delighted with the result. Both the student and the teacher were friendly. I'll definitely go there again for colour maintenance and haircuts!

Been going to this barber for a while, the only reason I go to this place is because of the free haircuts, I would not dare to pay for a haircut here. First of all the trainees 90% of the time are clueless with what they are doing, they require help from the trainer every 2 mins which it painfully long throughout the whole session. Secondly, there are two receptionists that seem to always lack showing respect to customers, or maybe I just get this special treatment? Regardless customer service and satisfaction should always be prioritized in a business. The fact that their main competitors on their street is LSB they really need to step up. Even during my haircuts the gentleman would convince me to get my haircut more regularly with them than LSB which is next door and why would I do that when their customer service is 10x better as well as their trainees and educators? I've noticed someone else did complain about their customer service 9 months ago and they've tried to improve it a little by always making sure to grab the customers coat, this gives me hope that they are reading reviews from their customer and trying to make a difference to their business.

Truly the worst customer experience I have ever had - absolute horror story from start to finish! I was shouted at and being talked about, for enquiring about the price increase, whilst I was already in the chair with foils in my hair! Please dont go here it was so awful

They have lost another customer. I agree with a lot of peoole on here about the lack of professionalism and lack of good customer service skills within this company. Called this morning to book an appointment. The lady on the phone was quite abrupt and had a rude tone to her voice as if she was in a rush to get off the phone. I was unsure as to which time I wanted to make an appointment and she was telling me to make up mind! She said 'you said morning, I gave you morning. You said afternoon, I have you afternoon. So make up your mind.' She snapped at me when saying this and had a rude tone of voice. I was taken aback by this. I told her I didn't want to book an appointment as she was being rude and I hung up. I called up again to make a complaint and they passed me on to a guy called 'Edward'. At first he was being nice but then he was trying to justify the way the lady spoke to me on the phone as they have a busy switchboard. I explained to him that i too work in a busy office but i don't tell my clients to "make up their minds". He then asked me if I wanted to make an appointment. I said no. And he just literally hung up on me without even saying how they would rectify this or at the very least a bye! Another rude person! Anyway quite glad I came across these people, managed to save myself from spending time and money in a place where customer service isn't practiced! Staying away from this place from now on. It was like they're doing us a favour for getting our haircut for only £6. If the staff are like that, then I'd rather spend £50 at a proper hairdressers where good customer service is guaranteed. Also I have been to this place once before to get my hair cut and even then I found some of the staff quite cold and aloof, and the atmosphere was just odd!

Looking for Adventure? Or a classic crop? Get it here! Young hairdressing students at advanced stage of training under the supervision of their experienced tutors wash, cut, trim, style shape dye and tint your hair to your requirements with great results at staggeringly low prices. Don't expect lightening quick service, nor great social polish from the trainees, but at these prices it really cannot be beaten. I still get my hair done here on my trips to visit London chums, and am going grey/ blue next time. Trust me, it'll be fabulous, darlings!!

I had been going to Alan D Hairdressing for over a year and during this time I was never called by my name. The trainee students were not trained to ask the client their name, or introduce theirselves to the client. When I arrived there yesterday no one greeted me, I had to get my own wrap and hang up my own jacket, then proceeded to wait until someone asked "what are you having done today" and then I was told to sit over there. You would have thought they would have known what the client was booked in for. They couldn't find my card so they had no idea what colour I wanted. No one seems to know what is going on, the students arrive late and then just sit around talking and looking on their mobile phones. They are rude to the supervisors who seem to think this is ok! The School doesn't ask for any feedback from the client, so how can they monitor what experience the client had. The two girls who did my hair, one was very gentle the other one was very rough. I think the school should relook at how they are educating these young girls to be professional and well behaved in their worplace.

You have just lost a customer. I phoned earlier and said that I might be a bit late and was told that would be okay. However when I was close by I was a bit late and lost. I phoned to say I was a bit lost and the lady I spoke to asked when my appointment was. I told her when it was and she said I was too late and said nothing else, including asking if I wanted to rebook another appointment. I said I would have to leave it then and she abruptly hung up the phone. Even her voice tone was negative. That is what has done it for me. I shall continue to go to the Ipswich one because they have better customer service skills. But will never go to this one ever again and will not be advising anyone else to either. What a waste of a long journey and money from Surbiton.

Very unprofessional - STAY AWAY! I have been going to the salon for years, mainly because of the reduced price. However, last time I went there, after agreeing a price and I was randomly charged £20 more - the reason for the price increase had not been explained to me and appeared to be done out of wanting to steal money from clients. They had earned more on the day and in the short term, but they have lost a client forever and so lost in the long term. Stay away as they are very unprofessional, despite "having been in the business" for a long time. i don't think they know what they are talking about.

Do not book for colour here. The students and properly supervised and they are VERY inexperienced. It taked hours and hours, is nothing like a salon experience (wasn't even offered water/magazine and was there over three hours), the results of my colour were shocking - unbelievably overpriced. Not worth it even if it was free. Go to London Beauty School or Vidal Sassoon Academy.

I have struggled to find a regular hairdresser since moving home and have often paid too much for a sub-standard hair cut. Yesterday a girl called Natasha cut my hair and considering she was training she did a better job than most of the hairdressers I've been to in the past six months.

Probably one of the worst haircuts I have had. The whole thing took less than 10 minutes, including hair wash. 45 quid for a poor cut. I have had to have it tidied up as there were tufts left over one ear, and one side was longer than the other. Lazy and incompetent.
