My sister had a horrible experience at this hospital. The nurses were vile. They ordered her to leave the hospital just over an hour after a major surgery. The nurses are extremely racist and believe that black people cannot afford to pay their fees. Horrible attitude. Avoid this hospital if you are a person of colour.

The worst experience with a hospital I've ever had. For a week before my tonsillectomy I called the hospital numerous times and was even on hold for over an hour at one point trying to arrange my swabs. On the morning of my operation I was contacted and informed my operation was being cancelled because i'd failed to have swabs taken and spires had been trying for two weeks to contact me (they'd be calling the wrong number), it was agreed the operation would take place, I''d go down last and have my swabs taken on immediate arrival at the hospital. Arrival at the hospital was fine, room was fine. Around 2pm the anaesthesiologist came to visit me. After introducing herself, she walked in and proceeded with "Why didn't you bother coming in for your swabs?" In a really disproving tone and basically speaking to me like a child. I explained the situation to her and put the experience down to miscommunication. Obviously not ideal when you're putting your trust in these professionals to take care of you. I went down for surgery, and upon entering the room the anaesthesiologist went for my left hand to set up the IV. I politely told her my left hand was very difficult (I regularly give blood and always have trouble with my left side) and asked if she'd try the right instead. She completely ignored me and continued poking and prodding until blood squirted everywhere and she finally moved over to my right hand. At this point was I was extremely distressed by the situation. The bruising to my left hand lasted around two weeks, for the first few days I wasn't able to feel anything on the top of my hand or in my pinky and 4th finger and 3 months on i'm still experiencing reoccurring pins and needles and stiffness (Symptoms I did not experience before this operation) - Pictures of bruising attached Surgery went well and recovery was fine. The following morning I showered and called for the nurse to request a fresh pair of stocking socks (the previous day, I'd been told by the nurse who had prepped me that I was required to wear the stockings for a day following my discharge for blood clot prevention), but I didn't want to put back on the used pair that i'd worn during surgery. The nurse who attended my room was extremely rude, I requested and new pair and she answered "No", I proceeded to ask why? and she told me I didn't need them, when i explained the conversation with the nurse i'd had the previous day, this woman shouted at me. I discharged myself from the hospital following this incident. The hospital failed to give the correct amount of medication and upon calling my GP a few days later to request more, the hospital also failed to put the medication they had prescribed me on the discharge papers. My experience at spire Bushey hospital was humiliating and distressing.

The quality of patient care was absolutely fantastic! Arron who showed me to my room was welcoming and friendly! My nurse T’shura could not do enough whilst looking after me after a lumbar epidural. T’shura was so professional, caring, supportive, passionate about her job. Finally, I would highly recommend Mr Robert Lee (Spinal Surgeon) I would highly recommend this hospital!

Spire Bushey despite a significant stressful situation caused by @BupaUK the clinical team and hospital management, especially Lisa Trybus at Spire Bushey ensured my wellbeing was at the centre of their focus #exemplar #Professional #care. So dedicated to patient care. That after the debacle created by BUPA SBH have worked diligently to bring about a resolution that will hopefully contribute to long term recovery. I can say with confidence despite the anxiety of surgery etc I know when i return to SBH this week I will receive the highest standards of care, attention and professional expertise.

Had a consultation last month which I have paid for, that was all very professional. Due for a procedure on the 2nd November I’ve had no call or letter as I just had verbal confirmation on the day. I have called and called to be past from pillar to post and told ill receive a call back. I have even left a voicemail for Mr Sulfis secretary and nothing! I’m due to go in next week but cannot schedule time off work or a lift or anything. Quick to take my consultation fee but not one follow up or letter as promised. I’m going to call for my fee back as this is a disgrace and unprofessional that I’ve had zero contact even with me chasing!

I have been calling the ward and have now been on hold for 39 minutes. all I want to know is are you discharging my dad this evening or not! I'm having to ring at 23.00 because he is not been told anything. when I called earlier, the plan was for him to be discharged today! 46 mins still waiting now...... 57 mins, still waiting.....shall I just assume my dad is staying in tonight? 1 hour, 2 minutes. DISGUSTED at the total lack of communication

I just had a day care surgery yesterday, and I was lucky enough to go home the same day. In my experience all members of staff, doctors, nurses were very polite and kind, compassionate. I was well looked after by my assigned nurse, Melinda Biro, who was very kind and professional and attended all my needs. I can recommend this hospital as I find it very clean and comfortable and I was met with professionalism throughout my stay.

I had an abdominalplasty surgery two weeks ago, and had to stay for 2 nights. All the staff members, especially the nursers were amazing. I couldn’t expect better service. The room was comfort and the food was nice. I would recommend anyone to this hospital, they took really good care of me. This helped me with a fast recovery and it gave me an overall positive experience.

I am writing to say how fantastic your member of staff Aline Michaels is! I was incredibly upset when there had been human error and my Dad's urgent CAT scan wasn't going to happen the next day (on a Friday) as we'd been assured it would be. Thanks to Aline contacting relevant people who had already left the office for the day and for going above and beyond, it was all sorted. A huge relief. Not only is this lady professional, super organised, on the ball and hard working but is also kind, a good listener and genuine. Thank you Aline!

Although a non paying nhs patient, I was treated with great respect and one of the managers treated us with as much respect as paying patients. Everyone was very polite and professional and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone should they ask.

I recently had a knee procedure under the care of Mr Gikas and I could not be happier with the outcome. From the initial consultation to my physio appointments with Laura and everything in between, the treatment I have received has been First Class and no stone has been left unturned. Every member of staff I came into contact with has been informative, attentive, polite and a credit to the company. I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone in need.

first impressions so far have been outstanding and I couldn't have asked for more. Staff communication via email and phone has been very professional, friendly and speedy. The hospital itself is in great condition and the consultation had with a surgeon really put me at ease. His secretary has since been amazing with all my questions. Booked in for surgery on September because no other hospital can live up to this one now. Great work Spire Bushey!

This is a good hospital - some of the other reviews seem to think it's a hotel! The staff here are generally good and do their best. They work to a higher standard than most other hospitals, as unfortunately I have discovered over the past few months. For those complaining that they had to wait 30-45 minutes to see their consultant...really?! First, this isn't the hospital's fault. Second, If your consultant is delayed it would likely be because they're treating other patients, some of whom may be medically more in need perhaps. And if you can't wait 45 minutes for your appointment, then how much do you need it at all?

I recently attended Bushey Spire for spine surgery. I found the nursing staff, Physio staff as well as all other staff to be helpful, encouraging and supportive. My consultant was a delight, caring and professional. I am always very sick after a GA the anaesthetist was excellent and for only the 2nd time ever I was not sick for the 24 hours post surgery. (He attended me both times) I was very well looked after. Every question I had was answered and I felt I was in very good hands most importantly they listened. My after care appointments were all arranged for me. Nothing was too much trouble. Although no one wants to go to hospital, at least my stay was made so much better by the care I received. I have, this year, had 6 surgical procedures, 3 of which were at the Bushey Spire, which is my top choice. Keep up the great work. Well done.

My surgeon and nursing staff were superb. However, I was upset and disgusted to find a large lorry, delivering food to the hospital, taking up all of the invalid parking bays to the front of the hospital. Having a blue badge and not being able to walk too far, I had to walk back quite some distance to the hospital. There was also a white van which I presume belonged to one of the on-site workers parked in another invalid parking bay. It was still there when I left the hospital. DISGRACEFUL!! OUTRAGEOUS!!

Went in for knee surgery. Free parking. Taken to a private room. En suite, television, fridge etc. Staff were prompt and procedures explained. Post operation food was excellent. Only reason why it was not five stars was that the surgeon did not discharge me and I could have gone home earlier. That said, staff were very friendly . Overall an excellent venue and I would recommend it highly

Would give 0 stars if I could. Don’t have a clue what they’re doing, they let you go into surgery without requesting/reading any previous medical history from your NHS doctors & they don’t wait to get back test results which are crucial to success of the surgery. Avoid if possible

I recently underwent an operation at Spire Bushey Hospital, everything about my stay was excellent especially one of the nurses called Anna Marie who supported me through out my operation, putting me at ease and checking on me regularly to make sure I was OK. The food was excellent and all the staff from check-in to discharge were friendly and attentive. I was under the care of Ms Awala and she was fantastic.

I saw Dr Toma in May 2018, he diagnosed a herniated disc in my neck. After a few months the pain subsided and all my symptoms disappeared so we agreed to monitor the issue with time. My symptoms came back around 12 weeks ago so I decided to see an osteopath but needed Dr Tomas‘s report. I called the hospital who put me through to the imaging department who couldn’t help. I called back to the main reception who then passed me on his secretary’s email and contact number. Over the course of 3 weeks I left 3 voice messages and sent 2 emails, she finally came back to me and said that my name didn’t ring a bell and asked where I saw Dr Toma, I gave her the information and she never came back to me.

I cannot recommend this hospital enough. I have had a recent knee procedure under Mr Gikas, who is a great consultant. The hospital staff were amazing, nurses were lovely and the rooms were very clean. I was kept in the loop at all times from walking into reception to being discharged and my mind was kept at ease by everyone. Brilliant hospital!

Had 2 appointments here now and both times the consultant has been over 45 minutes late. Arrived once and it was so busy there were no seats to sit on. No one called me to tell me the consultant would be so delayed as would have considered moving my appointment but not after I've driven miles to get there! I think they need to learn to manage diaries better or improve their communications - you would get better service on the NHS.

Came in for a procedure at 1PM, and at almost 6Pm was still waiting.... this is ridiculous. Staff is ok generally but none could answer my repeated questions on why it took so long. Facilities are on (the ones i saw at least) but for a private hospital, it is absolutely inexcusable to have someone check in mid day and completely ignore for almost 5 hours... - After initially giving them 1 start for the wait time, I revisited this and gave them 4 stars.

Wonderful private hospital of the Spire group in Bushey. I attended a lumbar discectomy at this hospital (surgeon Dr Robert Lee) following confirmation of private medical insurance through work. From the moment I stepped inside for my initial consultation till I left the hospital after surgery, the hospital staff were found to be thoroughly professional, courteous and attentive. On my operation day, all concerned staff put me completely at ease and for the first time I found it enjoyable being an inpatient in a hospital. Provided one has the means to pay I would definitely recommend this hospital if one wants top class treatment.

I had a hernia operation yesterday. was brought to my room straight away, which was very clean. it was a bit slow getting the paperwork sorted but the service and help from the staff was amazing. Everyone was really nice, as I was quite scared. Not only was I treated exceptionally but they also treated my grandmother who waited for me, fantastically. Making sure she had tea and ate. even when discharged the night porter sorted a cab out and made sure I had water to take home. Thank you to all of the staff

Horrible hospital (facilities) and terrible nurses in in-patient ( lea ward), just one or two nurses (including Craig) were nice, others were horrible, especially night male asian short nurse was terrible. You get better care in NHS hospitals and this one is private. Outpatient facilities are terrible too- today coffee machine is not working, lift is not working, toilet is dirty and the corridor absolutely stank of urine. However some very very good specialists and doctors consult and operate in these facilities ( so are their secretaries) otherwise I would never recommend this hospital or attend myself.

Avoid this awful hospital with zero customer service. complained why my paperwork had been posted to wrong address 6 months ago and It took an additional 6 weeks and 3 staff to come back with a curt and dismissive response that "it was the fault of the consultant's secretary" yet the amateurish consultant blamed the hospital. Don't think either knows what the other is doing. Going back to BMI who know what they're doing.

I can't rate this hospital enough. The rooms are so comfortable and all the staff are amazing. I had a total knee replacement by Mr Gikas, his team of anaesthetists, nursing and physio staff are incredible , the post op care is phenomenal and the food delicious. The upkeep and cleanliness is outstanding . The staff are all so caring as are the lovely porters. Would highly recommend spire Bushey. Thank you to everyone involved in my care from pre op care coordination through to discharge, the experience has been top class.

My wife has a knee replacement at this hospital and we were very disappointed with it. The surgery did not go well and the nursing care was terrible. Just agency nurses all the time, different ones every night. Medication forgotten and given at wrong times. All added to the stress of an operation and certainly would not recommend.

My dad came in for total knee replacement on both knees in July. As he had some fairly unusual circumstances I really needed someone who could work with me to see what was possible, bearing in mind his needs as a person, rather than be told what wasn't possible. I can honestly say that without the coordination and support offered by the self-pay team (Nikki, Barbara and Karen) that I would not have chosen Spire and this surgery would not have gone ahead as smoothly as it did. They kept me informed at all times, and answered any question I had no matter how trivial. My dad, thanks to Richard Carrington, the hospital and physio staff, was out of hospital in 5 days post surgery. He had full range of movement in both knees after six weeks, and is now well on the road to recovery, slowly building his strength and regaining his much valued independence. Whilst there were inevitably some things that could have gone better from an organisational point of view, these were rectified quickly and I knew I could phone the self pay team who would do their best to help. We couldn't have hoped for this whole process to go as well as it did. Thank you again.

I have used Spire Bushey as it is now since it was opened many years ago and then was BUPA , I recently went in for a routine operation and felt that being left in my room for nearly 4 hours with no information on my operation time or anything else was the last straw of bad service i have had over the past few years having had a few operations there. I feel it has deteriorated over the past years and would not use there services again or recommend them which is a shame as it is very close.
