Excellent service all round but particularly Andy the bike guy who assembled my two childrens bikes and despite there being a backlog of work to do, he spent the time teaching my son 'loosy lefty - righty tighty' which was excellent to observe. Credit to him and if and when I buy another bike it'll be from there, plus I would recommend to anyone else.

Went in knowing what I wanted (from visiting another store in another country). Staff (both till and weirdly security guard) were unhelpful and obnoxious when I asked the question. The item was there but they had no knowledge, interest in knowing or interest in helping. No arguments or disputes, just a horrendous lack of basic courtesy on their part and one less customer in the future.

Went to collect two new premium ROCKRIDER AM 100 S FULL SUSPENSION MOUNTAIN BIKE, NX EAGLE - 29ER (not currently available in UK despite promises). These had to special ordered direct from Lille, France. When I went to collect, Brakes were back to front on one (nearly went over the bar on application, pretty much nothing setup on either and a massive and very obvious cosmetic defect on another. On returning both within the hour, rather than apologies, all I got was excuses and even implied maybe we caused the damage on the basis that they were fine when they came in. How can they possibly say that when the failed to notice the brake levers on the wrong sides, front suspension on another, permanently locked and suspension forks on both bikes over-inflated well beyond the max of 120 psi. Now maybe I'm wrong (and I'm no expert), but when it comes to suspension forks and shocks, there is supposed to sag (usually 20-30%) but the tech guy insisted they are supposed to be setup that under the riders weight, the suspension only just begins to sag but is basically, fully extended. I checked a few well known stores such as Evans, Halfords and Giant and all suggest allowing sag of 20-30% unless manuals suggest otherwise which I couldn't confirm since neither bike came with any documentation of which the store claimed was correct, despite handing me a bag with clearly had a lot more in it but was probably now scattered within the workshop or disposed of. When was the last time you bought an expensive/complicated item that didn't even come with a warranty and T's&C's. All I got was two bikes and a till receipt and precious little else. Basically, this charming store manager couldn't be any more indifferent and actually appeared to get off on winding up Decathlon's customers. When I asked who she answers to with a view to making a formal complaint, she refused to give a number or a name, and simply replied "anyone you like! Complain to Google! it's up to you! I'm not talking anymore! I'm hanging up this call, do not contact my team again!" At no point has this manager ever apologised, not even for trying trying to imply we could have caused the damage for two bikes returned to store within the hour and clearly in mint condition save the cosmetic defect and other problems that led to me returning the bikes pretty much as soon as I collected them. She did say my language was highly offensive on the basis I felt her behaviour and handling was disgusting and inappropriate. To the best of my knowledge, 'disgusting' is not a swear word but a description while it appears to be totally acceptable to blame your customers rather than deal with the issues in hand. Let's be clear, this stores behaviour towards their customers leaves little to be desired (would have liked to say 'disgusting' but apparently, that's offensive) If you like being humiliated and abused, then maybe this lady is cheaper than mistress if you like that sort of thing but otherwise, I'd steer well clear.
