Absolutely amazing place I have been with them for 20 years and I can not say a single bad word about them. Hospital staff are friendly understanding and will do all the can to make you comfortable and help you understand anything you are not sure off. I can not thank this hospital and the staff enough for all they have done for me and my family.

Good location, easy to reach, very accessible for people with disabilities. The reception is very polite and efficient. Has a little cafe , a fresh fruit stand inside and an M&S outside. Great links by bus from the stations. It's bright inside and looks good in general compared to other eye hospitals.

Website needs updating. Went at 815pm on a Saturday evening as website states it is open 24hr. Arrived at hospital and it is only open Mon-Sat until 8pm. Had to go round to A&E then eventually sent to ACU where there was a 3hr wait. Would've been easier just to go to A&E at hospital nearer home

Disgraceful service despite sudden sight loss told that not in area and that Macular degeneration is not an emergency? Anyone know who's responsibility it is particularly went sent from a walk in hospital facility?

I had a great experience with all the nurses and the dental staff at this hospital, I’m really pleased with how well they accommodated me. They even let my partner drop off my own yoghurt for me to eat as I couldn’t eat the one they were going to offer! I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed under general anesthetic and my surgeon and anesthetist were absolutely amazing to me. I was so nervous about this operation and even got close to having an anxiety attack before having the anesthesia injected in me, but they all worked through it calmly with me and it was fine in the end. I’m really happy with my experience and I’d recommend anyone going to see the dental ward here in regards to dental problems, thanks so much everyone!

Had an operation. Nurses and doctors were great however there are some staff that are catty behind other professionals infront of a patient! I just find that disrespectful. I understand it gets tough but their needs to be a sense of team work, respect and professionalism especially infront of patients! Other than that, thank you!

Absolutely appalling treatment of my friend here. No one told her anything that was going on then the head nurse tried to make out that he had and she was a liar! Plus the injection they said was needed couldn’t happen because they ‘lost’ the needles. Absolute disgrace!

Attended the Emergency Eye Clinic on a referral from my optician. I would like to thank the department for their kindness and professionalism. They are dedicated. They sorted my eye condition which I was very grateful for. Thanks to all

my friend was ignored repeatedly by staff here and not told what was going on, and then the head nurse accused her of lying about it. Delayed her treatment because they'd somehow "lost" the needle. An absolute joke terrible treatment of a patient

Clinic c attended. See to straight away for observations but had to wait in the cold main corridor with a pager for over an hour to see the doctor. Ok apart from sitting in the cold waiting areas in the main corridor. Strict covid rules in place though ????

Mum saw a really scruffy doctor who was more interested in playing on his phone and commenting that her notes were big to say it's a centre of excellence they don't do much for my mum plus he was coughing everywhere

Received appalling treatment by a male nurse, ignoring her fears and questions and made her feel like a liar. She was unable to have an injection due to lost needles and wasn't treated with dignity and respect.

Had various treatments over a few years, always had a good experience here. Laser treatment for Glaucoma then a cataract op, the staff are phenomenal, knowledgeable and caring and put you at ease straight away. Dr Au’s team are the best.

Been going to Eye Hospital for a number of years. Parking is a nightmare and the multi stories are usually full or too far away if you have mobility problems. BUT the clinic is first class, I've recently had Cornea eye surgery and I wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere else and now I'm about to have the other eye done. Professor Carly is wonderful, very kind and listens. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Appalling treatment, a friend of mine admitted here over the weekend. She was ignored by the male head nurse and made out to be a liar. She told me others on her ward were also being ignored. To top things off she was due to have a injection but they were unable to give it to her because they ‘lost’ the needles!

Literally can't even get through to this hospital! Tried countless times over several days. It's like you have no choice but to go there & speak to someone directly. You'd think that we would have more than one eye hospital in Manchester! Seems like they are short staffed or extremely busy? It could also be a neglected institute, where patients needs are under looked! And the staff are not upto standard.

Absolute joker an emergency department. Look forward to a very long wait. The receptionist isn't there to assist you shes seems to be only interested in her phone. Any questions she refers you to a member of the medical staff. What's the point of her. A waste of taxpayers money

Due to being left my eye condition has become advanced I'm 28 years old when I was told I needed surgery or I would go blind they still left me I had to call them and beg over the phone for my pre op been coming here the past year and I'm just being pushed from pillar to post not to mention the recording I had taken on my phone where a doctor consulting me told me he wasn't a professional ???????? WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!

Not listening to me, I am saying I don't want their medicine; steroids, lubricant drops, antihistamine drops all to be used at almost the same time, everyday, every hour. They don't work for me, too strong, they make it worse. Self medicated, eye drops from Boots the chemist and feeling so much better after not taking their medicine from the last few visits. Still not using their medicine. Another appointment next month and every visit the prescriptions that I dont use become less

I attended the Emergency Department in August this year followed by a visit to Clinic D for treatment in September. I found all the staff in the hospital kind and helpful. The doctor who treated me explained exactly what was going to happen, the procedure was straight forward and I now have my sight fully restored. It is an excellent hospital with first rate staff who deserve the highest praise for the work they do.

Thank you to the team in the Emergency Eye Centre who sorted the eye problems that were causing me so much distress. Was more than happy to wait to be seen on Friday afternoon/evening. It was obvious how hard working and dedicated the team were. Extremely grateful. Thank you.

First time in the city (and UK), I had strong pain in the eye for a couple of days. I was attended very nicely, obtained the required medicines and told to come another day to check the evolution. All included within my European Healthy Insurace Card

I had a minor procedure here last year which involved and was quite nervous beforehand. The team here put me at ease straight away. I was in one of the outpatient departments and when I arrived they checked me in and gave me my own seating area and locker to store my valuables in. I had a consultation with the person who was going to conduct my procedure and got an opportunity to ask any questions and decide if I wanted to go through with it. He then drew a big red arrow on my cheek pointing to the area on my left eye that would be operated on. I had a little wait before they could fit me in for the procedure and on that particular morning I hadn't eaten a proper breakfast. There were no food facilities on the ward, but they let me out into the wider area of the hospital to visit the canteen and get something to eat. Considering I had a big red arrow on my face, I didn't get too many funny looks! When it was time to have my procedure I was expecting the room to be a tiny, but it was huge, like the kind of operating theatres you see on TV. There were a few people observing, I assume they were students, and they had the radio on in the background. I didn't have a family member with me but one of the nurses was by my side to hold me hand for the anaesthetic injection. After the procedure I given a temporary eye patch and was taken back to my seating area. They gave me some time to rest in the comfy seat and when I felt ready to go, the nurse gave me all the after-care information I needed and some sterile liquid to be used when I removed the eye patch later. All in all I was really impressed with the treatment, I hope I don't have to visit again but if I do then I have a feeling I'll be in good hands.

Had a bit of a wait but was seen by very friendly staff and treatment given. Had to go back the next day but was only there an hour. Lots of people at the walk in but all would be seen. You can even get a pager off reception staff so you can go for a drink in the nearby cafe and they will page you when there is one person to be seen before you very helpful.

We visited the eye hospital today with my mother in law, her district nurse had phoned to say that she's pulled her stitches out during the night! ( she has an ulsurated eye and dementia.) My mother in law who was extremely frightened was seen by Angela the triage nurse, who was amazing, she explained everything that she was doing in such a calm and comforting way. Fortunately the stitches hadn't come apart but the bolsters had moved, Angela showed my husband how to put the bolsters back into place! Sending us on our way with a very happy 87 year old! Thank you Angela, you are what makes the NHS great!

I’ve been here 4 times for checks on my eyes post stem cell transplant. They are very good and do a thorough check on your eyes and give the best advice on what to do to help manage dry eyes and blepharitis. The clinic is always very busy and it takes 2 to 3 hours before you are seen by a consultant. It would be good if you could see the same consultant each time for continuity but that is usually the case in any medical area. If you need a prescription there is an on site pharmacy on the ground floor and they are reasonably quick. There are parking places close to the hospital but they’re mainly disabled spaces. But there is also a multi storey car park.

Have always had excellent care and attention here, been attending for many years. Very occasional hiccups occur now and then with waiting but I can easily forgive these as no one can predict the unpredictable such as staff illness, traffic congestion etc. Considering how busy this hospital is it's a miracle it runs as smoothly as it does. It's a clean and modern hospital with a good reputation.

Waiting times a disgrace. Dispensers had us waiting one and a half hours for a prescription urgently required. Staff seem totally demotivated with a couldn't care less attitude.Doctors working from 7am til gone 6pm with no break.Beautiful building but hospital badly managed. On previous visit notes left outside an unused consulting room for 2 hours until we had to check.Staff unaware! The doctor had actually left for the afternoon! We contacted hospital to make a complaint and three weeks later they still haven't replied. Hope we never have to come back here.

I have never even been to this hospital but I am finding the attitude couldn't care less. I was under a proffesser James at Halifax but as he is retiring he sent my details to the Royal Manchester eye hospital on December 18th. Twice I have phoned and both times they have said they haven't had them....in total Halifax have sent them three times. Also about 5 years ago Halifax sent a letter to them asking to give me a eye scan they wrote more than once and we never got a reply....again I phoned them and they denied all knowledge of getting anything from Halifax...and we're very unhelpful.

This hospital, in line with many other NHS establishments, has very low regard for the time of its patients. When attending the Glaucoma Clinic, on the last three occasions the waiting room has been full and the appointment times a fiction. The last time I attended I asked if the appointments were running on time, of course they were not and were so far behind that the receptionist could not even guess at how long I was expected to wait. The time before that I had to wait three hours over my appointment time, and though the usual excuse that they were a doctor down was trotted out, yet that does not account for this appalling and habitual maladministration. Two days before I was telephoned to confirm I would attend on the due date and time, which I did. The hospital does not return the same consideration. Knowing the undisclosed waiting time was impossible, I went home and told them to send me another appointment when they have time to see me. The hospital makes much fuss about patients who fail to attend appointments, but treats with contempt those who do attend on time. It was not always like this. Nor is it down to the ubiquitous excuse "cuts." Clearly numbers at the Glaucoma Clinic are being set against appointment times there is no chance of holding to. All they have to do is give me a later appointment rather than have me and hundreds of other patients kick their heels for hours on end. God knows what the other clinics are like.

Should you be bored, tired or plain silly and you decide to put ear drops in your eyes, maybe pay this place a visit. Helpful and understanding staff and good level of after care too. Eyes no longer feel like they're being burnt out, so I'm happy with the results.
