Amazing Mattresses and Service. I’ve had my mattress for over three years and have never suffered from back pain since I bought it. After sales services is excellent, I required some re-stitching work to be carried out under warranty with no quibble. A pleasure to do business with and no doubt I will be back to buy another mattress for the second bedroom.

We brought a bed and mattress (our second mattress actually) absolutely love it. And the customer service was also brilliant. Thank you so much. We now have a solid bed and comfortable mattress that will help us sleep soundly for many many years.

In 2008, i purchased bed frames, mattresses, red wood storage boxes and a sofa set. 11 years on, everything is good as new. No issue whatsoever. The best quality buy i have ever experienced and thankful for discovering this hidden gem.

Beds and mattresses, received today so I admit not slept on yet! The oiled wood looks and smells delicious like real wood, unusual these days, and is so smooth on all the edges. The style of the platform bed is perfect, such a lovely simple form made very strongly in generous chunky wood, with no protuberances to bang knees on, it can be a sofa or seat from any angle, and the space underneath just right for storage without compromising stability (Our beds were raised by about 10cm). Then the mattresses are wonderful, we love the cotton ticking, and all natural stuffing without chemicals to inhale as you drift off to sleep. I’m glad Julian suggested the firm mattress, it seems perfect. The medium one is fine too, but the firm is the favorite so far! The delivery also was without a hitch, spot on the delivery time. Much appreciated.

Bought a series of beds from them about 10 years ago, they are all very well made and made to last. Shocked by reviews I'm reading as they were friendly and my husband spent a good amount of time discussing our order. Not the most extensive showroom, but value being able to choose design and wood type. It seems to place still has the similar designs which is a testament to them being perfectly crafted. The place to go for good quality!

The place to go for a good quality mattress. But by no means cheap. But worth it if you really value your sleep. You can easily spend upwards of £600 for a mattress here. They offer free delivery if that helps.

I have ordered many beds from this store for over 20 years, both for my own personal use and for tenants. All are still in use, including a sleigh bed bought in 1997 that has been rented for a decade. Julian is polite and kind and if a mistake is made by him (we all make them) he will rectify it without quibble. My guess is the poor reviews here are from 'send it back to Amazon entitled millennial generation types', who in my experience are the sort of people whose orders are best avoided. If you want a custom bed made expertly and to order, within time limits, Julian is your man.

With it's unassuming setup, L&F focus on quality. Julian, from the multi generation family business is happy to unravel all the mysteries of the mattress, and focuses on you're night sleep rather than upselling. The mattresses are purpose made in the UK, with a weight and quality, which has actually improved our sleep. You won't be disappointed. Highly recommended.

Having searched all the main bed and mattress suppliers in London, I finally found THE ONE at Litvinoff & Fawcett - with beautiful oak headboard and good mattress. The bed, delivered yesterday, is sturdy, hand-made and original. The mattress, (pocket medium), handmade from natural materials. Beds and mattresses are made in the workshops nr to the Hackney Road shop. The service - from initial phone call, through extensive discussions in the store, to the delivery and assembly of bed and mattress just 5 days later. was exemplary. I'm so glad I found this company and thoroughly recommend. Thankyou Litvinoff & Fawcett

Update - Having just read Julian’s response to my review, I would like to thank him once again! His rudeness and fabrication of events just goes to prove my point exactly. Great job! He is right about one thing however. I was indeed highly critical of the fact that I was refused a written guarantee. I guess asking for him to comply with basic trading practices makes me bossy and demanding. People seem to either love or hate this place and it’s easy to understand why. If you are looking for a nice bed and mattress then great. If you are expecting decent customer service then forget it. Personally I expect both. I went along to the shop ready to buy a quality frame and mattress. I told the owner what I wanted and waited for him to price it up. I asked him if there was any flexibility on price as I was potentially going to buy another bed in the near future. He said he wasn’t prepared to negotiate. Fair enough but as they say; if you don’t ask, you don’t get. I told him I was happy to go ahead with the order. I asked about delivery times. He told me the bed would be about two to three weeks. I said that he could put us lower down the priority list as we would be away during that window so was happy to wait. I thought by doing this I was actually being helpful. The owner then took my details. I then went on to ask him if delivery was included in the price. At £1500 it’s a fair enough question. The owner was extremely rude in his response. Still I accepted this and decided to buy the bed. The problem came when I asked him if the bed came with a written guarantee. I stood there, card in hand, ready to make the purchase. At this point he told me that he would not accept my order and went on to fire a series of nasty and personal insults my way. Now surely asking for a written guarantee is a reasonable request? In fact I had requested the guarantee after reading some of the reviews of Litvinoff and Fawcett. Lots of complaints from people who have encountered post-sale issues! I even suggested that he could hand-write on my invoice that the purchase was covered by their terms and conditions as stated on their website (in a vain attempt to find a solution). He told me to get out of the shop. My question is this: if they are so confident in their product then why would they have a problem providing this? The only thing worse than this man’s manners is his business sense. Another customer who entered the shop whilst this was going on, promptly walked out again. Talking to her outside she told me that she had gone in looking to furnish her new home but after witnessing his behaviour had chosen not to spend her money there. Oops! Ultimately though I think he did me a huge service. So thank you Litvinoff and Fawcett! I’ve just bought a beautiful bed and mattress with a proper guarantee. One very happy customer (in the end).

I have been buying beds from this shop since 2003 on recommendation from old work colleague, Channel 4 television presenter Jon Snow. I have always found their service friendly and helpful and their beds and mattresses are very good quality. I'm about to buy another two more beds and mattresses from them (for different property) ,I would never consider buying them from anywhere else.Highly recommended indeed.

Julian Litvinoff is a walking bank of knowledge about beds and mattresses. His many years of experience displays itself in the quality and build of his whole product range. I love the simplicity and sturdiness of the design; putting the beds together using only 4 bolts and wing nuts, instead of screws that would weaken over time. The quality of the beds and mattresses, allied with the extremely competitive prices represent fantastic value for money. Moreover, the service and advice delivered by Julian and Corinna is both friendly and efficient. Going to bed is an absolute pleasure and L&F's beds guarantee a great night's kip every night. In summary, I cannot recommend Litvinoff and Fawcett highly enough.

I was looking for a space saving bed for my smallish bedroom and as I needed a king size or bigger, platform beds seemed to be the answer. After lots of searching online I came across L&F who out of all the others were the most reasonably priced.I called to get some advice and Julian helped me to decide on what sized bed and what type of mattress I should choose. He was brilliant. Bearing in mind I only told him what I liked in a mattress. He listened to what I wanted, talked me through the different options. Explained about open coil and pocket sprung etc. and talked through my ideal budget. He did encourage me to visit their showroom and try for myself but after our conversation I trusted his judgement. I ordered the small super king platform bed and the Luxury open coil 5'6 medium mattress. I cant comment about delivery as I organised my own courier to collect them for me. I have zero complaints, in fact I could not be happier! The bed frame is chunky and made from quality wood. It was very easy to put together and is solid and sturdy. The design gives the illusion of extra space and there's room for storage underneath. The mattress is the most comfortable mattress I have ever owned! Its extremely well made and exactly what I described to Julian. I wanted to write this review as I love the fact that my bed and mattress were handmade to order from a British company. I am surprised to see bad reviews as my experience with Julian and his team has been 100% brilliant and I would recommend them to everyone.

As long as they have to sell, they are kind and caring, we asked to the owner if it could have been possible to change the mattress we bought (1 week usage) because it was too hard. His answer wasn't polite at all. So if you have to test whether or not a mattress can be good for you, don't go here. They won't change it.

Julian comes through as some one who is a bank of knowledge and appears to know everything about bedmaking. Unfortunately, we got taken in by him and he delivered a bed which was not fit for purpose as he described it in the shop and actually not safe for use. We raised this issue with him and wanted him to either fix it or refund the amount we paid. Unfortunately, he has done neither and we are now exploring a legal recourse to get our money back. We have had a very poor experience with this company.

I bought a luxury wool mattress, (£470), guaranteed for 10 years, and within months the stitching on the side panels began to unravel. He told me, this stitching" wasn't necessary", (!),even though the sides buckle without any support. You pay for delivery. So if you live far, and anything goes wrong, YOU pay £60 + for the transport to get it back to them. If they don't see anything wrong, you pay to bring it back. In this case, even after sending photos, they wouldn't accept responsibilty. 10 year guarantee is WORTHLESS AND IN actual DEED. They offer "free" repairs for their bad manufacturing! Julian's a patronising, obtuse man, only he knows whats right!( 'nice' when you're buying). Please note in their website - they say it's all natural, but no information about what quantity and content. Since it was unravelling - i went and opened one edge - only thin layer of real wool, rest is amalgamated, re formed & recycled wool/cotton. Another company, sent me a picture of their mattress - 3 layers of pure wool, each spring wrapped in cotton, it looked so much better, and is £100 cheaper! I returned 3 mattresses to Warren Evans, No 1- because it sank, in the 4th year ( and was in the 5 year warranty, and W Evans accepted their fault). No2 - within 30 days, and No 3, also within 30 days. Was refunded in total. Not 5 times - what a lair Julian Fawcett is. This lot's T&C's cover themselves for everything. Not the consumer. They're not registered with the Ombudsman, so we can't even take it them. Reported to Trading Standards.

Really shocking bed design and post-sale service from this shop. Monday 30th November Update Julian has now responded to my review below. His response is a perfect example of the kind of erratic and mystifying behaviour we have come to expect from L&F. My original review was published on Saturday 28th November, he sent me the below email on Sunday, and I have already responded to him on Sunday agreeing to his suggestion with some reservations. So what he says below is patently incorrect and really frustrating. My overall experience can be summed up as: next time you think of going to L&F - RUN in the other direction! Original review Saturday 28th November Julian led us to believe that his stacking beds could be converted into an occasional use double bed through a minor modification (that cost us extra). We foolishly believed him. A few weeks later, we were sent a pair of stacking beds too wide for their mattresses by about 5cm each, and when they were placed side by side, there was a wide gap around the mattresses, amounting to a total of about 20cm on one side. I rang Julian to discuss this and was talked down to, as if it was a matter of my not understanding what a bed looks like. He finally conceded that there may have been an issue with the assembly of the beds, but kept insisting that we contact the delivery people (arranged by and working with him) to resolve this, as they were an 'independent entity'. It took my husband threatening court action for Julian to do anything, which was merely getting the delivery guy to come out again and fix some minor assembly issues. When I rang back to explain that while the assembly issues were now OK, we were not happy with the basic design of the modified bed (that it was too wide), Julian talked over me, accused me of making up excuses, not knowing what I had bought, and basically being too much of a fool to understand what he was saying. The crowning glory was when he said "how many beds have YOU made??" - Julian, we haven't made any beds, but we've certainly slept on them, and as an expert bedmaker you should know that what you sold us cannot be described as either a stacking bed or an occasional double bed. As L&F is not registered with the independent furniture ombudsman service, they probably think they can't be touched by customers once they have sold their stuff to them. I don't know if they check these reviews, but if they do I fully expect them to refute this with the kind of patronising comment described above. Anyway, doing my best to warn anyone reading google reviews - DO NOT go with this bedmaker.
