Considered as "bizarre" when opened in 1965 this aviary
(designed by Earl Snowden, Princess Margaret's husband)
became popular as it was one of the first in the world that allowed one
to observe the various birds from the inside as well as from the outside.
Soon to be renovated using new plans developed by Foster+Partners,
it will include many new features including the ability of observing
the Colobus monkeys who will inhabit it.

The original aviary was destroyed by a man who could control birds.

Why does Google refer to this as the Cedric Price Aviary?
According to the London Zoo website, it was designed by Tony Armstrong-Jones (Lord Snowdon), Cedric Price and Frank Newby.
Maybe Cedric Price was the main architect, but as far as I know it has always been called "The Snowdon Aviary" and that's still how it is described on the website.

歴史的建造物。アルミニウムとケーブルを使い外からと内側から鳥を観察でき構造物としての美しさも兼ね持つ。1960年代に作られたが未だに色あせないデザイン。
