Good service. Great line of products. Wonderful variety of services provided. My appointment started a little late but it was made last minute while I was travelling through London. The price was in line with other salons but the end result of using Aveda is always worth it. I didn't encounter any problems and my consultant was so attentive! Stop here if you're in the area for a little pampering.

Fantastic haircut experience! Booked over phone for same day cut, very courteous receptionist.Greta was my stylist and she really listened to what I wanted, explained her suggestion, and diligently gave me a haircut that took c45 mins (most other salons cut you in 15-20 mins, so rushed!!!) Which meant that what I got was a bespoke personalized cut that suits my face, rather than some standard cut and blow dry. Very happy with Aveda. I used to exclusively go to Aveda in the States and I'm so glad to have similar cut quality here at Aveda London.

I have to say, the reviews are fairly representative and I'd have thought that the salon would read comments and listen to their customers. They were indeed fairly rude at the reception, no one smiled and the Jackie who was meant to dye my hair was very frazzled. I tried to make conversation and lighten the mood which kind of worked in the end but it took them 1 hour to even offer us water. Although I have no previous experience I think she did her job well, I'm pleased with the result. Beverley who cut my hair was pleasant initially which was a nice change but I can't say im too impressed with my cut, it is just alright. She never asked how I wanted to style my hair or if I wanted to use any products and she went ahead and used three products on my hair and made them really curly which looked good but was not what I would have chosen if I was asked. All in all I think they should listen to comments and improve, paying more attention to a heavily paying customer.

This salon is big, neat, and clean. You can enjoy a cup of tea, etc, while you are waiting for your appointment. I was attended by Jay, a really nice young lady, a professional hair stylist, who has magic hands and is super friendly. Thanks to her I got many compliments on my hair tremendously done. Thanks Jay, I'll come back!

worst experience ever! I went for a wax and the woman who waxed me was so RUDE I can't even begin to explain! As a start, she did not even have the decency to step out while I was getting undressed! Who does that!? During the wax I felt some pain (which is normal) and she basically told me to keep quiet as it was my choice to wax and no one had forced me to!!... It has been two weeks now and the results are awful! Plus she was using the same spatula for the entire wax which I think is really not hygienic and no gloves!!! Ok!!! So save your 50£ and go elsewhere!! Horrible!

Just experienced the rudest most unprofessional and racist behaviour. Member of staff hung up on me after being unable to explain why their menu says 'all staff are trained to handle all hair textures' when in reality they can't. Aveda pride themselves on products that are for every hair type and yet staff are unable to use them for best results with any customer on a simple wash and blow dry. Unbelievable unprofessional behaviour. ...since the above call last week I've had a number of calls from Aveda customer care and the salon. They have explained that training will be addressed for staff to deal with questions posed by the public and that wording on their menu would be looked at. I have been impressed with their response and attempt to put things right and improve the customer experience from booking to appointment end. And although I wouldn't feel comfortable to attend the salon at present I will continue to use their products as they are suitable for all hair types.

I have been going to this salon for over 5yrs. Even though the colourists and stylists are very good, the customer service and receptionists are quite rude and patronising. My appointments are always messed up and most recently the new salon manager, Owen, threatened me by telling me that he will cancel my appointment and I won't be allowed any appointments in the future after I have been harrassed by 10 calls every day asking me to confirm my appointment in 3 weeks time when I politely told them the first time that I could confirm 2 weeks in advance as I have been asked to do in the first instance. This behaviour was completely out of order and I will not tolerate to pay money only to be bullied, harassed and threatened. Seems like Aveda Institute Holborn does not value loyalty at all and treats existing clients in a very rude, harassing and out of order way. Spare yourself from going there and meeting the incredibly rude salon manager, Owen!

Recently moved to London from the US, and I was SO nervous to find a new salon. But Aveda exceeded my expectations. I got a hair cut from a “Top Stylist”, which is around mid-tier on their price list. He was incredible; even though I was unable to articulate exactly how I wanted my haircut to look, he styled in a way that framed my face very well, and checked all the boxes I asked for!

I had a fantastic experience at The Aveda Institute Salon! I was spending the week in London and needed a place to get my hair done. I live in a very remote location and after many awful haircuts and colours my hair was in a bad situation. Michael cut my hair. My hair is curly and he did an amazing job. I walked away LOVING my hair. It's been four weeks and I still love it. It is hard to find someone who cuts curly hair. This was my best haircut ever! I wish I lived in London so I could go regularly. Jenny coloured my hair and worked miracles. She really listened to what I wanted and took my lifestyle into account. Just like my cut I love my colour. Its exactly what I wanted. It is expensive compared to what I'm used to, but worth every penny! An added plus is the atmosphere. It was an enjoyable and relaxing experience. I would not hesitate when recommending this salon.

Saw the (fairly) newly established barbers this week. Very impressed. Excellent cut, not rushed, good feedback and discussion during the haircut as well as a very easy going barber (Stel). Started a bit late, but spent longer than I expected, all for the fixed price. Well worth a visit and competition for some of the more established London shops who charge much more!

Really beautiful and calming environment in the treatment rooms downstairs. My therapist was lovely and it was the best wax I've ever ever had. Super quick but thorough and much less painful than anywhere else I've ever been. Well worth the extra money.

I love Aveda products and colour so decided to take the plunge and have my hair done at the institute. It was a great personal experience despite the assembly line in this busy spa. My hair looks good, but I have to say not the best it's ever done. This is a lovely salon but for me at least, not worth the price.

I had highlights and a cut. The stylists were very nice and did a good job. However I thought it was not clean: there was a dirty towel from the precedent customer were I was seated (twice so I guess they don't care) and the cissors and brushes were on a shelf with hair on it ! I didn't see my stylist clean the brush neither, she only took the hair off the brush with her hand... I also saw customers receiving a neck and shoulder massage which I didn't get

Top Stylist (58£) did a short hair style when asked to keep length. He was called out of session to consult women by manager which might have caused concentration drop. Salon is nice, but seems to be for female audience. Two Barbours quit recently...

Like many others, I chose Aveda Salon when I was new in town - because I trusted their brand power (and I used to go to an Aveda salon back home). And I didn't regret !! I did my hair with Greta, she has great skills. Did my volume, layered hairstyle just the way I wanted. Also, I was impressed by the way the salon manager handled a little mishap that happened to me after the hairstyling. I got locked up in the bathroom cabinet (because the handle was wobbly then fell off). Luckily I wasn't trapped for too long and once I was rescued (?) they helped me calm my nerves by offering an order from the salon cafe (Le Pain Quotidien). Will go again for my haircut !

Love this place. Great salon for really good prices. Hairdressers in particular are fantastic. Spa less so - I had one unimpressive pedicure and a truly terrible eyebrow wax. The therapist didn't ask what I wanted, just waxed them off and left.

Receptionists are rude, smug and, for some reason, pretty pleased with themselves! It’s worse if you try and book an appointment over the phone. They make you feel like you aren’t worthy of their attention, they have better things to do and can be extremely patronising. After years of putting up with this (my fault) I’ve finally moved to another salon. Not a good advert for what Aveda is supposed to stand for. They should take some learning from their colleagues in the States - my experience at various salons there couldn’t be more different.

Just as the lady before stated. Extremely disgusting and racist staff. I witnessed a security guard, approach a black man who came with his partner and ask, "what are you doing here". Then proceeded to put him in in a headlock while multiple members of staff assaulted him. Due to the fact his presence made them uncomfortable. Truly disgusting behavior from Aveda. No apology from the manager, and no customer feedback. Julija Kalinina should be removed from her job immediately for encouraging this sought of behavior amongst her employees.

I had booked for colour which I'm happy with it, but even though I had not booked for a blow dry they still insisted on doing the blow dry despite the fact that I repeatedly mentioned I just need a quick dry. Poor, expensive blow dry which took a long time, which I ended washing and blow drying my hair again at home to wash the products and restyle my hair to suit my face. This is not the first time I'm having problems at this saloon, there's clearly lack of attention from the staff who take the bookings and some of the stylists. It's disappointing as the level of service used to be much better only a few years ago.

Went here as part of a group booking, reception staff were incredibly rude and confused about our booking. At one point they started bad mouthing the person who made the booking to us, one of the receptionists was being overly aggressive for the situation. The only highlight was the technicians were very polite and talented.

Horrible customer service on reservation booking - it's as if they don't want customers... what's changed at Aveda London in the last five years??? Where's that warm Horst welcome gone? Thankfully, Gina Conway (Aveda) salons in Chelsea and Wimbledon are far more helpful to clients.

I love Aveda and have been to a couple of the other salons in London so thought I’d try the academy. Went for a consultation, advised wanted to go blonde, as ice blonde as possible. A week later once my appointment came it was like she had totally forgotten and I came out looking like a tiger with orange stripes. Had to go back for a correction which the director just wasn’t interested in, put a couple of foils in my hair and that was it. No one apologises when I returned and it was like they wanted to just get rid of me and sent me home with half of my hair wet. Won’t be going back

Awful!! Went in for hairlights and ended up in torture with a huge headache! Been their a couple of times and thought it was safe to do highlights! The highlights were applied ok but as they washed my long (curly but tame) hair they tangled it to the point where I was at risk of having to cut it to get the knots out! they literally were ripping it apart. They spent 2 hours detangling the mess that they created and hurting my head! So it took the whole day, I was their from 2 to 8pm! I left with a huge headache and slight relief l still had long hair when l left! Plus they still made me pay for it!!! It was the most horrendous hair experience l have ever encountered. There was no apology and a facial as a gesture of goodwill! After the huge embarrassment of having to threaten to walk out and sort it out myself, and one heck of a headache, they worked on detangling it for 2 hrs. All l wanted was to leave the salon after paying £170! Although the colour was ok the overall experience was awful! I am still very upset by it as l have never had such an experience. The stylist was literally tearing my hair out! They had to cut some knots out, and l just had to sit through the pain. So what was supposed to be a restful experience turned out to be torture. In jest the manager said that there was now enough hair products in my hair for the next 6 months because they were using all sorts to help with detangling the mess they had created! But really this wasn’t appropriate. If they hadn’t performed a negligent service, l wouldn’t have to give up 2 hrs of my time and well being! Plus I felt like l was on show - there wasn’t one employee who didn’t want to see the mistake! With the reputation of it supposedly giving good service l can say it was awful, the worse experience l have ever had and they honestly didn’t care. They just wanted me to pay and leave. Salons far less known have not done what they did. If l had the energy l would really look into taking it further, it’s not the money but it’s the principal of giving poor service and actually hurting the person, and then making them pay for it! If you are precious about your hair then don’t go!

No appointments needed is misleading. Called twice for an appointment and I was told they are fully booked out. Why say no appointment needed even and then when I call for appointment it says you are fully booked. That's misleading.
