Avoid if your pet is seriously ill. They only care about money. We have been left outside multiple times with a sick puppy in freezing cold and rain because they are too busy. They are too busy to give animals the care they deserve. We have friends who’s pets have never returned home from operations here. Go to a vets that’s part of a chain, they will have professional standards in place and deal with any complaints professionally. If you have any issues with this vets make sure you communicate via email because they reply to emails with calls and then bend the truth. Always communicate via email!

We didn't need to go into the clinic but rang as this was the emergency vet for our normal vet (and our 4 m/o husky puppy was showing really concerning symptoms after hours). The first woman we spoke to was extremely professional over the phone and took the time to go through our pups symptoms and give advice on what we should do, including what may have been causing his illness. Our puppy ended up improving which meant we didn't need to go in - when we called again to give them an update, another woman picked up the phone and still took the time to go through how we should handle the next few hours with the same level of professionalism (and even knew about our earlier call + the details). It's so, so scary when your pet gets ill suddenly and they did a great job helping us just via phone - thank you so much! We hope to not have to visit (!) but would highly recommend if you do.

Disappointed. Our cat was brought here after vomiting and had diarrhoea with blood and was told she didn't need any fluids and its normal for her age (despite being in good health prior to this). We have since rushed her to Potters Bar and she has been put on a drip for her severe dehydration. Its common sense for animals, even humans if they have lost fluids through vomiting or diarrhoea they will be dehydrated and need fluids! I do not know what kind of 'vets' you have working here but they are not qualified! Time is everything in these situations and you just cost us valuable time by providing not only an inaccurate assessment but also by doing nothing to help! If you want your pet to survive avoid this veterinary practice! **Update, after Lucky was discharged by Elizabeth Street Veterinary Clinic, she continued to have bloody diarrhoea. My brother rushed her to Potters Bar at 4am (over an hours journey but worth it); she was immediately put on a drip and given fluids: She was hospitalized for a week whilst they ran tests and has since returned home in better health.

I am so very grateful to this wonderful emergency veterinary surgery for their help this evening. My dog Daisy somehow managed to get hold of a stick which got stuck in her throat and was choking her. Veterinary Nurse Emily immediately managed to calm Daisy and removed the offending stick with ease. Emily was wonderful with Daisy (who is usually very frightened around strangers) and did all she could to make Daisy feel calm during her ordeal. I am so grateful to Emily and the team at 55 Elizabeth Street. Had it not been for Emily's professionalism, kindness and patience, this evening could have ended very differently for Daisy. Thank you so very much.

Very disappointed from the rude attitude of the head nurse Tessa Clark. I was only late 10 minutes due to heavy construction outside of the clinic, when I walked in there was no one inside waiting but Tessa Clark refused to take the appointment and was extremely unprofessional. I am a loyal visiter to the clinic and a owner of two dogs, I will definitely never be returning and do not recommend this clinic to anyone!

I would avoid this clinic at all costs unless one has no other option for example it is an emergency and your regular clinic is closed on a weekend. The reasons for my negative review concern the experience that my dog had at this clinic. She was admitted on a Saturday morning with abdominal pain as her regular clinic was closed (and they use this clinic as their after hours site). The vet recommended the usual blood tests and called me a couple of hours later and said that the tests were not good and that she had high liver enzymes in her blood and her ultrasound was inconclusive. In our discussion she did not hold much hope for her and all she recommended was for our dog to see a specialist on Tuesday. Until then she would have to be kept in the clinic on intravenous fluids (she was not eating) and pain medication. During the 48 hours that our dog was kept in the clinic we had a) very little information about her condition b) shouted at by one of the nurses for taking her out for a brief period (this mainly because this nurse was doing an extra shift and they had no one at reception so she was overworked running between the reception and the examination rooms) c) told that there was not much hope for her and her blood readings signalled a terminal condition which as you can imagine was the worst possible news. I decided on Monday morning that we had had enough of the terrible service and that if she had any hope she would need to be moved to a specialist clinic. I asked for her to be referred immediately to a specialist hospital (which required some persistence as the first nurse I spoke to on that Monday morning said the vet is not available and would call me in the afternoon!). After insisting that I was not leaving until my dog had been referred, the vet came out and said they would refer her to a hospital outside London. She was released an hour later, admitted to the specialist hospital by noon and in the evening had surgery for a gallbladder mucocele. The specialist said that if we had delayed any further her gallbladder would have ruptured which is fatal. If we had listened to the clinicians at Elizabeth Street, our dog would have a) suffered needlessly for another day if not more b) injected with more pain killers and medication without them treating the root cause c) highly likely she would not have survived as time is of the essence with a blocked gallbladder. She is now back home making a full recovery and her prognosis is very good. Please if you have a sick animal trust your gut instinct, avoid this clinic and get her/him diagnosed as quickly as possible because in many cases your pet has many more years ahead of her/him with the right intervention and treatment. You will not get the right intervention/treatment at this clinic especially in complex cases.

I honestly cannot write more highly of this exceptional Vet clinic. Our Cat Lilia had an emergency at around 11pm at night and I contacted Elizabeth Street Vet immediately. There was a very helpful and knowledgable nurse who told us to come down straight away. Our cat was seen to in a very short space of time and admitted for a few days to monitor her condition. I am a Doctor myself and the Vet's explanation and clinical decisions gave me total confidence in them. Throughout the next few days I received regular calls from staff updating me on her condition which was so reassuring especially when as an owner you are worried about your pet all the time. I was always told of any necessary tests they were going to undergo beforehand and I was always able to speak to the Vet directly. We picked up Lilia as fit and healthy as ever after a few days. An absolutely outstanding vet, with lovely truly caring staff that are also clinically exceptional. Thank you so much.

Stiff service, over priced and useless vets. They took X-rays of my dog's leg and two vets there insisted that it was not broken - I then drove with those same X-rays to another vet's practice where it was indeed confirmed that my dog needed immediate surgery! Travel out of your way to other more competent vets.

The first time i visited this place was i was 10 minutes late for the vaccination appointment. Though i spoke to the two ladies at the reception to give it a consideration as i don't see any clients around but i was told to come back the next day instead. The following day i came back 10 minutes earlier. Those people at the reception said it's not yet time so i went out to walk the dog. I came back on time. A client whom i will be next to just finished and was paying at the reception so i was told to wait. The client then left after 3 minutes. I was called up after 16 minutes late of the the time they set up. Where is the fairness here. I'm calling the attention of those ladies at the reception why waste our time. Vaccination was done less than 3 minutes then i paid the bill in less than 3 minute, transaction was done in less than 10 minutes.

As a huge dog Lover and owner of canine companions who are my world, I very HIGHLY recommend this Veterinary Clinic to all. Helen, the main vet is utterly impressive, patient and very kind. It is so important to find a professional as well as caring vet for your pet, whether it be a dog or a hamster. Animals need medical treatment, as we humans do. Elizabeth Street Veterinary Clinic may be a tad on the expensive side BUT they go that 'extra' mile and that is what counts. Heidi Moore

Thank you SO much for the care and attention both Louie and I received last night in the extremely capable hands of Michelle and Emily. How refreshing to find a company in this day and age that care about the animal more than the potential income. As a nurse myself I really appreciate the time taken to give sound advice, and to offer potential alternatives for my dogs care that involved using other services, because it might be more convenient for me. Having contacted Vets Now I felt the corporate approach was not for me. Not to mention they were a good deal more expensive. Thank you you are a credit to the firm.

I was shown a fully grown pigeon hiding behind a dustbin, I asked for a cloth and picked him up. He had been attacked by a cat and besides being in shock and shaking, had a massively open and very deep wound on his chest. I knew the kindest but saddest thing I had to do was to take him to the 24 hour vet surgery and have him put to sleep. I walked him from Yeoman's Row to Elizabeth Street. He stopped shaking and rubbed my hand with his beak. Such a beautiful bird. The young vet looked at the horrid wound and sighed, she agreed, that sadly, there was nothing that could be done. She said they would give him a little bit of gas just before they put the needle in. Such kindness. Such compassion.

I deeply regret choosing to bring my cat to this practice . My cat was vomiting for the last 4 days and getting worried about his hydration I came Friday evening to this 24h veterinary . First of all , the doctor didn’t even bother introduce herself as it should be normally and the first thing she did was asking my why so late (!!!) . Obviously I have disturbed her . I am working myself as an orthopaedic surgeon in NHS . If I will have that attitude with my patients in clinic , next thing will be a complaint to GMC . Anyway , even my can’t wasn’t eating properly and drinking she was very reluctant to ask for more tests . Also she didn’t even ask if my cat had any stools at all lately , you know ...just to rule out an obstruction ... At the end , she took my cat out from the consultation room telling someone will be with me shortly and gave me the tablets without even telling me how to give them, even not saying she is done and goodbye . In her defence , she looked very young . Not sure what grade she had . But they should be at least more polite when are charging 150£ only for a cansuktation plus 20£ for 6tablets of Omeprazole 2.5mg

Have been using this practice reluctantly (its the nearest one to me that does emergency vet service) for a couple of years now. Besides some of the vet nurses being nice, the place is a joke. Incompetent and dangerous locum vets, who actually don't have a clue what they are doing- especially during the night emergency service (which is when you want complete confidence in your vet!!), really let this place down. And if you do alter the management to issues, they always take the word of their staff over you, instead of simply trying to find a solution to the problem, for example, by making sure staff are competent and appropriately trained. Here's a few errors- prescribing drugs at far higher doses than safe for her (good job I checked the dose and have some medical experience!), not referring her quickly and appropriately when she was VERY sick (now under a consultant for long term care). In the vets words when I was constantly chasing her referral- oh, I didn't know there was anything wrong with your dog so I ignored the note to refer her. Guess she has never heard of a telephone to check hey. They don't document things properly, so things like vaccine dates are inaccurate or missing from their database- they didn't chart one round of yearly booster vaccines had happened, and tried to get her to have her boosters again the same year!!!! To me, this place is more about money making then pet care. Sad but after a couple of years of experience with them, that's the only way I can describe them, and the overall feeling I get.

I have used this veterinary clinic since 1994 and have never had a bad experience. All the vets have been wonderful and the latest, Helen Wikeley, is no exception. I have never met a rude receptionist or nurse. The fees reflect the cost of premises and services in central London.

Took my extremely poorly dog here and was really disappointed. To pay such a huge amount of money to be seen by a vet who is completely disinterested was a horrible experience. The only saving grace was the lovely Irish nurse, other than that I wouldn’t recommend this vet to anyone!

Poor service. Mixed up times of the appointment twice. Then blame me. They refuse to see the dog and be accommodating. When asked why not call if I'm not there for the appointment (at their wrong time) I'm told - that would be too expensive for us to call out. Seriously??? In their location and those prices???? When we have been equipment hasn't been charged. Service slow and overpriced. Find another vet if you want quality.

On Christmas Eve my dog ate a load of Christmas cake, and as dog owners will know, raisins and currants can cause kidney failure in dogs. Both the nurse and vet were excellent, my dog was given prompt treatment and cared for very well. Yes the service wasn't cheap, but it's what I would expect for emergency service at 7pm on Christmas Eve. I'm paying to have a service to help my dog in a dangerous situation on Xmas Eve when every other vet is shut! Normal hours will be normal prices. I highly recommend, 2nd time I have used this vet for emergency treatment and both times I have left appreciate of emergency help for my dog delivered in a prompt, caring and expert way. Shame about the other reviews.

If I could give negative or 0 stars I would. This vets unfortunately is our out of hours vets and they done nothing but try to cash in on our poor babies injury and showed no compassion, they simply wanted to euthanize a healthy dog to get their fees. I urge anyone who loves their pet, please do not go here, they wanted to euthanize my dog for a routine surgery after a simple accident, prior to this my dog was not of ill health at all. The vet that worked there, James, tried incredibly hard to CONVINCE us to put our 1 year and 11 month old dog down, he even contradicted his own evidence at a whim to further convince us. Even when we spoke to several specialists who told us that there were 3 options to help our baby he simply told us "to be honest they probably haven't even looked at the x-rays" despite the specialists knowing full well the exact number of x-rays that were taken. We wanted a referral as we DID NOT TRUST this man (and thank God we didn't) and he kept on putting us off by coming up with several idiotic and completely false excuses, he even attempted to convince my dad to “rationalise” with me and let them put my dog down. Even when we did request the referral they sent it by fax (which we were informed was NOT the correct procedure for an emergency referral) the day AFTER we requested it. They still did not send the history or x-rays as requested until I chased them up the next day, even then they did not send the x-rays and I had to do this myself. When we collected our baby from the surgery, he was covered in urine and had faeces stuck to his fur and bottom, this was only after 2 days so they obviously let him pee and poo himself. Despite saying that they walked him just before we left, he peed himself significantly. Please do not go here, the reviews are bad for a reason. If it was James' choice my poor baby wouldn't be here anymore, but thankfully, with the help of a GOOD and CARING vet, she made a speedy recovery and 6 months later he is as good as new, you wouldn’t even know he has had surgery.

I cannot recommend this veterinary practice highly enough! Helen Wikeley is an incredibly lovely lady, and is always so kind and helpful when I take my Pomeranian in for his annual shots and the very occasional health issue. She is always immensely patient with my dog, and he doesn't even flinch when she gives him his shots! It is genuinely a pleasure to visit the clinic, and I have found that whenever I have an issue that I am not sure about, they are happy to talk through the symptoms over the phone and reassure me that all is well, which has avoided unnecessary visits on several occasions. I would unreservedly recommend this vet, and the 24 hour emergency clinic is also a massive advantage.

My Dog Daisy was transferred there from my vet for overnight care. After reading the reviews I was slightly nervous. I was pleasantly surprised. All staff members where friendly to the point of cracking jokes which puts you at ease at this stressful time. I am also at a loss as to why people say this place is expensive. You pay £60 a night for a dog sitter in this area and I was only charged £125 for overnight stay which consists of round the clock monitoring, administration of medications and medical care. They even changed dressings. This vet is so not a ripoff. If people where given high bills then it was clearly because their pets required the treatment.

We paid £130 pounds for a consultation and a jab, which (apart from being a total rip-off) was also a complete waste of time. We did not feel that our concerns were taken seriously and the vet rather prematurely concluded that there was nothing wrong with our dog. We went to see our regular vet the next morning, who quickly discovered that our dog was very swollen towards the back of her throat. She had to be sedated to have the puss drained from the cyst and this has now been sent off for a biopsy. This was a proper and thorough examination at a fraction of the cost. Very disappointing service.

Our cat Chris was seriously ill on 21st Dec. The usual vet couldnt have him any longer so we transfered Chris to Elizabeth. Their service runs 24/7. They saved Chris from the danger. All the vets and nurses are very professional and friendly, especially Helen and Naomi, Jo and Nikki. They kept us updated each four hours. Yes the serive is more expensive than our usual vet. However, they are working 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They are here to make sure your pets can be in the safe hand whenever you need. They took my cat before Christmas Eve. When on Christmas night, they were so busy with the emergency pets.
