We encountered several problems with a digital probate application recently but have to say Jonathan at the Birmingham office was amazing helping us to sort them out very efficiently. I did find it was best to telephone late afternoon as in the morning an answer phone message told you to phone the oxford office that couldn't help, the postal service is also a bit strange with everything posted to Birmingham being redirected to Newcastle & then sent back to Birmingham taking several days

Was told to expect 20 working day turn around on documents now on over 50. phone is never answered tried over 100 times this last week. very poor overall service.

There is a reason why I am using this service which I am sure the probate registry no why, so how can sensitive and important documents be posted 2nd class. When they were eventually returned one of the executor surnames was different to the will this was returned to the probate service. I phoned to enquire how long it would take was told 2 days after no correspondence for a week I phoned again. The number was not taking calls automated service told to phone 0300 number phoned they said they couldn’t deal with it so phone a Newcastle number they said the paperwork wasn’t there so they would email Birmingham to phone me. As with my first line I am an executor of a will there are creditors looking for payment and accounts which are still trading that need to be closed, and this is after paying £215 for the pleasure of telling someone that I am the person named in the will another government body screwing people over in life and in death.

The lady who served me was abrupt and unhelpful to the point of bordering on rude. She didn't want to answer my questions other than dismissively to get rid of me as quickly as possible. I used to work for the department and prided myself on trying to help people. I have also dealt with them twice in the past when the experience was totally different. To add to this the building is depressing and the security staff are officious. When someone is bereaved this is the last experience they need - horrible! Unfortunately I have no choice but to deal with them until matters are concluded. I can only hope that she is not indicative of all the staff or it will be very traumatic indeed!

I posted my probate forms three weeks ago via recorded delivery. The cheque has still not been cashed and I’ve heard nothing. I tried to call numerous times but the number is either engaged or they’re closed so I emailed 7 days ago and I’ve heard NOTHING. Terrible service. Can someone please get back to me.

Have called the office multiple times between 11am and 3pm and get the same answer that opening times are 9:30am til 4:30pm Mon to Fri. Whats the point of a number when no one answers
