I knew from the start that selling my house would not be straightforward because Discher's Pond is of non-standard construction and therefore not an easy building for which to acquire a mortgage. As I had had excellent dealings with James Barnett of Savills in selling our previous property and buying this one in 1994 and also in valuing the house for a probate valuation when my husband died in 2011, James Barnett and Savills were the obvious choice. Like most sales, the selling process had its up and downs but throughout, the Savliis' team were encouraging and reassuring and, at a time when house sales in general were slow and unpredictable, in something under eight months, the house was sold. I am very grateful to James and his team for their kind and sympathetic treatment of an old and anxious client throughout the whole process.

We chose Savills because when we met with Lucy, it was clear that she had both a clear understanding of the local market, that Savills were well connected to the London market in terms of locating and matching buyers, and finally, she had much greater empathy for our house, it's amenity and character and how that would appeal.
The entire process from initial conversation, to marketing the house, to communicating with ourselves, potential buyers, and finally to securing the deal, was handled with clarity, assurance and a reassuring professionalism. Particular call out for the excellent photographer who went above and beyond by returning on a second day so the external shots had better light.
Savills secured the offer price in cash, and from initial conversation to completion took about 3 months, which in the context of Covid and straddling Christmas, was remarkable.

We recently (Nov20-Mar21) bought a house in Cambridge supported by Lucy Banks from Savills.
Despite difficulties with solicitors, Lucy was fantastic, and really made sure we were kept in the loop. This helped massively, ensuring we were kept sighted on what was going on, and could plan things like moving admin accordingly.
The move also coincided with the third wave of Covid, and a national lockdown. Despite this, my partner and I never felt we lost sight of the house purchase, and were able to quickly and easily reach Lucy/ the team in person (to drop off ID/ pick up keys) or over the phone, whenever we had a question.

We had far more viewings than before - possibly partly due to the stamp duty moratorium - and from people with a real interest in buying such a property.
