Terrible service, took months to respond and when they did, they did not even consider all of the points in my complaint, so many contradictions. Very unprofessional, complete bias towards the banks and advantage they take of customers , one worker even proudly said that they used to work for the bank and made the assumption that customers should have financial knowledge that they have. Very disappointed, expected an objective, considering customer and not a biased service

We used the FO in a case against Natwest. All great, we won! The FO have now had OUR money with them for a year and a half! On the very few times we have actually been able to get through they have been very apologetic and promised to send the money buy haven't. A bloody year and a half! JUST SEND ME OUR MONEY.

Absolutely dreadful. Started my complaint with them in September and only had a case officer assigned to me in late January! And then of course, they did a very quick and brisk 'investigation' that ruled in favor of the large bank. Don't even bother wasting your time with these guys honestly.

Clearly the FOS exists to provide a patina of accountability to the UK Financial Services Industry. Industry insiders know they can do as they wish and the FOS has the minimal possible powers to go after them and even then has no interest in exposing UK Financial Services to public scrutiny. Just go straight to websites with your case and lets see the FOS replaced with something which puts the consumer first - to the horror of (some of) the Financial Services Industry

Thus service is a joke. They only know to tell you a date they will investigate which would be about 20 to 28 days. Until then, you will either give up or die of frustration. In this country all government offices work in this manner. They will send you emails from IDs that you cannot reply back on. All are hypocrates.

I was the unfortunate victim of a scam where tens of thousands were removed from my business account. I sent the details to the Financial Ombudsman and was assigned a case manager. Her name was Laura Austin. I found her to be professional and thorough and she suceeded in having the bank repay the monies taken. Personally I can't thank Laura enough. She is a credit to the Financial Ombudsman.

Despite my complaint being upheld, eventually, I was extremely disappointed by how it was handled. It very much felt like the ombudsman was doing what they could to find in favour of the mortgage company and it didn’t in still me with any confidence in the process.

Years ago, the FO were really helpful and tok any case I gave them and apart from one, I usually won the case in my favour. However, in the last year, they have changed & it's nothing to do with COVID. They have rejected a claim against an insurance company dealing with fraud and have said it is not their area and see no proof despite me proving the fraudulent signature. How can an organisation like this chose to be so obtuse? yes, I believe they are on the side of the banks and insurance as even the police who I have contacted said they are dumfounded I was not given any help

Contacted the FOS in April, now July and I have heard diddly squat from them! I appreciate the pandemic will have had an impact, but they said "a few weeks" in an auto generated return email. Would have been courteous for someone did have got back to me, even if it was to say that I have not been forgotten about, so I am not left in limbo!

Side with the banks,unresponsive and will only act on straightforward blatant wrongdoings by banks otherwise they take instruction and collaborate fully with the financial institutions you complain about. Should be closed down and replaced as they are completely unfit for purpose.

Terry provided me with the best customer service support to the best of his ability. Over 25 x calls 4 days wasted with my closed bank account ‘card one money’ they were not replying to my emails and trying to keep the money. As soon as Terry stepped in they started to only then move forward. Terry is a true gentlemen and an asset to the financial Obdsmun services. He called up my bank and raised the complaint with them in minutes. I am very happy that he is dealing my case. Thank you very much.

Dealing with Alex again after a very successful outcome in my first case. Just wanted to commend his efficency, professionalism, compassion and thoroughness. He's made what I always thought would be a stressful process completely bearable. He gives great direction as to what I need to provide by way of evidence. You can email your scanned documents to them and discuss the case. history by phone . The proces is fair and transparent, anxiety friendly, and free from the usual red tape which financial institutions put in your way to shut you up.

MASSIVE U TURN FOR ME ON THIS! Originally I was told 6 months before anyone would look at my case and gave a 1 star review. However...... Matthew Parsons from the Ombudsman unexpectedly picked up on my case late last year and has since worked extremely hard to investigate my claim impartially. The case is still ongoing but I cannot fault the thorough nature of his investigation. I have been kept updated via email the whole time. Wonderful service and has redeemed my faith.

Shockingly bad service. Raised a pretty straight forward complaint with them. No response for 3 months. Then, someone replied after 3 months asking me to attach a final response (which I did immediately). It's been over a month since then, and Ive still had no contact. I can't believe this is the only place people can go if they need to escalate financial complaints, it's really concerning and I genuinely worry about people desperate for help who are needing to wait this long!

I have noticed that the FOS is buying/posting fake reviews on this!!! There are multiple reviews saying "Very helpful ORG I am very happy 101% satisfaction quick response and 101% solutions" - Extremely crooked. I wonder how many positive reviews are actually real.

They only can do very straightforward mater. they not trying to looking at fair results just easy and straightforward. for complicated cases they always go to the companies not little people/individual . You never know maybe a responsible person is there by chance and can look into our case efficiently and fair. I am saying try them but never have hope!

I choose to pay the insurance monthly with Brightside and when I sold my car I interrupted the insurance. Brightside asked me to pay the full amount of my policy like a penalty plus another £60 fee cancellation. I contacted the Financial Ombudsman to complain with them but after 7 months the investigator mr Solomon Kidane said that is right to pay the insurance without use. Shame. 2 fees for cancel a insurance policy.

I read some of the positive reviews and assume these are clear cases with non financial institutions. I found my case worker to be a pompous individual with a posh voice, but I doubt his level of intelligence or education. My case was against barclays and it was a clear breach and a fairly logical conclusion could have been arrived at, however in "HIS OPINION" this was not the case. So there you have it. I shall be escalating the matter and we need to appreciate the fact this organisation is funded by the banks, so unless it's a clear mistake by the banks, they will always support the financial institution. Private companies and such like be careful!!! You are the ones they will come down hard on, but not the banks .

Refuses to require the Company to disclose any evidence, even where the Company's calculations are clearly relevant to the complaint. Clear and detailed explanations from the consumer are brushed over or ignored, while brief throwaway lines from the Company are accepted at face value. It appears that for anything but the most straightforward claim, this service toys with consumers and wastes their time rather than trying to hold the financial industry to account and to arrive at a fair and reasonable outcome.

Spent 14 months back and forth with this organisation and all I got from them was bad advice and 0 action. If I hadn't listened to their advice the situation probably would have been resolved alot quicker. I managed to resolve my complaint on my own. Utterly useless! To top off the incompetence they have gotten to the point of action twice and right before hand ceased contact with me forcing me to complain to the ombudsman management in order to get things back in track. This cost about 4 months delay in itself!

This 'service' is meant to help you when energy companies wrongfully take money but they don't! It has been a year since more than £300 was taken from me by Together Energy. The staff haven't got a clue, you will never receive call backs or messages that they promise. ABSOLUTELY USELESS!

If you need an impartial consumer champion to stand up to big business - don’t use the Ombudsman. They will only see black and white and not common sense or see the stress and upset caused by big business - if the business have terms and conditions and do the bare minimum within those, the Ombudsman will wash their hands of you. Appalling short sighted waste of time. The Ombudsman is actually not fit for purpose

Frustrating service. Please don't waste your valuable time with them. Whatever evidence you provide, the remedy is against you and even if you prove it wrong appealing it, they come back with a new decision against you out of thin air with evidence which doesn't reflect the truth. A kid could provide better evidence than the people who handle the cases. At some point you receive the final decision and no matter if you chose to accept it or not, the case is getting closed.

Indeed after reading all the reviews I was really unsure to go ahead or not. However, I decided to give it a try. Luckily, with the assistance of Paola and Luciana, the problem was sorted out. The tuition company which never wanted to change their decision to cancel the contract for my children which was for 5 years, eventually they made an offer to terminate the contract and refunded the payments. Once again I wholeheartedly appreciate their service and support and recommend their service.

I submitted my complaint in August 2019 and still it hasn't been allocated to anyone to investigate. I do not know of any other company or ombudsman service who have such appalling timescales.

I have sent them over 4 emails about my enquiry and they keep on sending an email back with the same question requesting a document which was already sent to them after there first email. Financial Ombudsman is not fit for puropose and should be shut down or replaced wasting our tax payers money. Useless organisation.

Absolutely useless! Dont waste your time with them. No matter what proof you will give they will still stay with the decision of the "claiming" company. It's just a waste of time, using this "service" you are better of going off straight to the court if you want anything to be done

I had a problem with Barclaycard years ago. Not paying out for my ppi after five years a company got my money back. Also the way I was treated having a debt. Not asking if I had health problems. Now the ombudsman is looking into it. They actually thought Barclaycard did nothing wrong. I appealed and now I've received a letter from Barclaycard apologising for the way I had been treated

Unorganised organisation with lack of attention to detail. Lost my complaint 3 times in their system then continuously changing for information that was already sent. Raised complaint 6 months ago and still no investigator assigned to my case. Was told it could take another 18 months. Useless!

Hardly anything positive experience from FOS. They may claim to be fair, impartial and unbiased but they are not. The first investigator hardly did any investigation and copy pasted some comments from the bank's response letter. They all pretend to be investigating but in reality just wastage of time. Google about FOS and you will find what people think of FOS.

Been investigating my Complaint since July 2019 regarding Pension provider failing to pay my yearly pension Came back with decision 'they had done nothing wrong'! Have referred the matter to the Chief Ombudsman to overturn their ridiculous decision. I've always found the Ombudsman Service impotent and sided towards the offender!

another useless ngo/quango type organisation. Had two complaints go into the FOS, one of which I still havent hear back on and the first they pretended to know nothing about / have power to pasd judgement but they STILL sent a judgement to the company I complained about. When you contact them it actually goes to a third party - who are useless. you have to complain to get it seen by an ombudsman and they just sign what has gone before them off. They are an appalling outfit. The only way to complain then, is get your MP to sign the complaint! Total joke.
